Let me just say this, New York has balls. That's why it's time to talk about this trade news after we talk about manscaped and personal grooming. Because grooming isn't just about looking good, it's about feeling good. Whether you're suiting up for a big trade, gearing up for the playoffs, or just getting ready for interviews after a game. The right tools make all the difference. The beard and balls bundle from manscaped, your all-in-one grooming solution. So like a minute ago on this very YouTube channel, I told you about Riley Smith getting traded from the New York Rangers back to the Vegas Golden Nights where he won a Stanley Cup just a couple short years ago. In that trade, I told you that the New York Rangers got a third-round pick, and that third-round pick actually happens to be a 2025 Sharks' third round pick, and the Sharks are going to finish last or real near it, which means this third round pick is basically a late second. They've already flipped that and turned it into a living, breathing asset for the New York Rangers, Carson Sussi, all 6'5 of him for the rest of this season, potentially the playoffs, and also next season.

[00:01:08]

Even if you look at it as simple as this, the Rangers traded Riley Smith, who is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and in return, they got Carson Sussi, who's huge, and also going to play games for them next year. Even if he's not in the long-term plans, all right, you can trade him. Honestly, I think this is tidy work for the Rangers who have had one of the most fascinating NHL seasons in recent memory, because essentially, all they have done is sell all season long, but they've been steadily improving. Sure, things started real, real bad. Getting rid of Barkley Goodrow for nothing dirty. Getting rid of Jacob Truba, but they get Eurovaca Ninen out of it. Getting rid of Capo Caco, but you get Will Borgen out of it. Trading Riley Smith, but you get some futures out of it. Then, because you're not pulling the shoot on this season, you might just make the playoffs, you take one of the futures that you got and turn it into Carson Sussi. Because yes, the Rangers have gotten Vacainen, they have gotten Borgen, but they traded away Ryan Lingran, who, yeah, he had a terrible season for the New York Rangers.

[00:02:17]

But it wasn't always like this. Maybe he just needed a change of scenery because decent start over in Colorado. But you got to replace his minutes. You got to replace what he brings, and Carson Sussi can help do that. The A 30-year-old is listed at 6'5, 208 pounds. A veteran of 349 career NHL games, the Rangers will actually be Sussi's fourth NHL team, but this is the first trade he's ever been involved in. Limited to three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 59 games this season, but he does have a 10 goal season under his belt, which is pretty rare for a defenseman. Also wild because he never had a 10 goal season in the AJHL, which is Junior A in Alberta, never had a 10 goal season with Minnesota Duluth, never had one with the Iowa Wild in the AHL. He had one with the Seattle Kraken, though, a few years ago. Safe to say it won't happen again, but it might because his seven goals with the Minnesota Wild in his first full season in the league in 1920 was actually the most he had ever scored in a season dating back to Junior 8.

[00:03:17]

I've already said it multiple times in this video, but it bears repeating, he's 6'5. Every NHL team could use that. Now, the Vancouver Knucks. How do we feel about this? It's interesting because the Knucks and the Rangers are in very Very similar positions, but they seem to be heading in very different directions. At the time I am shooting this, the New York Rangers are tied for the final playoff spot in the East, but they are on the outside looking in, and the Ottawa Senator have a game in hand on them. There's also the Columbus Blue Jackets who are just one point up and also have a game in hand on the Rangers. So the Rangers, in a good spot, they're right there, but they're not in. Vancouver Knucks, near identical situation. They are tied Tied 67 points. Actually the same amount of points as the New York Rangers. Tied 67 points with the Calgary Flames, who do not have a game in hand. Just one point up in the St. Louis Blues, but the Blues have played two more games. Knucks, 5, 4, and 1 in their last 10, they might still make the playoffs.

[00:04:17]

Rangers 6, 3, and 1 in their last 10, they're only a little hotter. But the Rangers for the first month, two months, were in the basement of the league. They were in a bad place. It didn't look like they were ever going to of. Now, here they sit in this great position because it's a seller's market, man. Teams are getting crazy prices for guys. If the Rangers decide to continue selling, buddy, they'll get a king's ransom. Imagine what a team would pay for Kreider right now. Or the Rangers could say, You know what? We've already stockpiled some stuff. Let's just go for it. We're the Rangers. We won the President's trophy last year and we went to the Eastern Conference final. Who knows? We might mess around and do okay in this thing. The Vancouver Canucks is different because it feels like there's more for them to do. They've already traded JT Miller to the New York Rangers, so I forgot about that little wrinkle. All of a sudden, the Elias Petterson talk has ramped back up on social media, what's going on there. But at the end of the day, they felt like they would be better off with this draft pick than another year of Carson Sussi at 3 million bucks.

[00:05:19]

Actually, my apologies, 3. 25 million bucks next season. It would appear Marcus Petterson has made Sussi spendable on the Vancouver Canucks because this season, Sussi is seventh on the Canucks in average ice time, over 18 minutes, behind Quinn Hughes, obviously. Philip Ronick, obviously. Tyler Myers, what a season he's had. But Marcus Petterson, in the 10 games he's played for the Canucks so far, is averaging 21 minutes and 41 seconds. Sussi, who actually scored in the Knucks most recent game against the Anaheim Ducks, his ice time has gone down. In his last five games, a hair under 17 minutes, under 16 minutes, under 13 minutes, under 12 minutes, and about 14 and a half minutes. Sussi might be money well spent for the New York Rangers, but his 3. 25 mill for the Vancouver Knucks, especially when you got a guy like Quinn Hughes sitting there on the left side and you just got Marcus Petterson, Maybe he's a luxury they can't exactly afford, or they figure instead of having this luxury, we'll spend the money elsewhere. It doesn't mean he's bad. Just means they have other options, better options. It's not mean to say it.

[00:06:29]

It's Marcus Petterson and Quinn Hughes. They're good. The Rangers need him more than the Knux do right now. Fair? That's why I like this deal for both sides. But let me know what you think.
