The Buffalo Sabers allowed Stefan Naisen to get away with crushing Thompson Thompson. And it led to what we saw last night. What I saw, I felt embarrassed by. So you have Dennis Gilbert, who didn't take a shift after Thompson got hit, but they line Gilbert and Matthew freaking Olivier up at the center ice at the start of the game. Just fed him. And Matthew Olivier is the biggest heavyweight in the league right now, and he scores. Sabers are wearing their black jerseys. They're at home in front of the fans. Gilbert Gilbert proceeds to lose this fight. And it doesn't mean that Gilbert didn't put in a good effort because I think he did. What are you doing? To show yourselves, and I think your fans and your media, too, that you're tough and we do stand up for our guys. I won't fight the team that wrecked my top guy. I'm going to fight the next team. And then on top of that, you'll lose the fight. Now, I know they won the game. A staged fight to start the game so that you can feel good about leaving your teammate in a puddle on the ice the previous game.

I can't believe that this even happened and that anybody could walk away from that situation and go, You know what? We sure sent a message. No, you didn't.
