Women were turning up in dumpsters, in alleys. It was a killing fields.

I knew I was doing. Someone really big, someone really bad, how come they never caught who did this? There were six or seven serial killers operating at the same time, and Sam Little was one of them.

I'm Michael Connelly and this is a murder book we're calling this season The Women Who Stopped Sam Itinerate Murderer, who last year was named by the FBI as the most prolific serial killer in American history.

Did I really think in my career I would be talking to a serial killer? No, probably not.

You know, I thought that was a long shot, but the ultimate goal was actually to work unsolved murders.

But now, in hindsight, it's all kind of come full circle and here I am talking to serial killers, so. When we buried her and said, hi, mom, nice to meet you and and then I have to say goodbye. There was this intense pressure from my command to get this guy in custody.

I definitely had the feeling that I'm going to get this guy.

I finally got this guy. I can't explain it, but I can guarantee every detective has felt that before. You just know like this is that this is going to happen for me tonight.
