At 4:30 this morning, CHP responded to the 405 in Centinella in Culver City after they received multiple 911 calls for a medical emergency involving two kids.

One child was located in lanes, and the other was on the right shoulder.

Once the fire department arrived, they pronounced a 5-6 month-old baby dead. They also rushed a 7-9-year-old girl to the hospital with moderate injuries.

At the moment, it is unknown how the injuries were caused.

Chp is trying to determine if the kids walked on the freeway and were hit by a car, if they were thrown from a vehicle or something else.

They don't have traffic cameras nearby, so they hope dash cameras and witnesses will help.

Witnesses have stated that a black sedan was on the scene at the time of the incident. If anyone has any further information, we urge you to call our crime unit.

I asked investigators if the girls are related. They don't even know who they are at this point.

It is a strange and disturbing case with more questions than answers, but it is without question devastating. News of a baby's death on one of Southern California's most traveled freeways.
