No. Touch, push. Is it a dirty push?

[00:00:02]

This is my roman empire.

[00:00:03]

No.

[00:00:04]

And I've been wanting to say this.

[00:00:05]

It's your roman empire.

[00:00:06]

About the touch, push, touch.

[00:00:14]

And check out our official fan club@newhightshow.com. Also with one s. We've got a special episode for you guys this week. Pretty special. And it was one of the things I missed out on by being in the Super bowl, and I'm pretty jealous. Jason got to talk to two of his best friends, two of his favorite teammates, two of my favorite of Jason's teammates. And, Jason, why don't you tell the people what we got coming up?

[00:01:02]

Yeah, we got another fantastic episode lined up for all united two percenters.

[00:01:05]

Ha ha.

[00:01:06]

We're about to hear an Eagles mini reunion featuring my former team, Chris Long and Bo Allen. Travis, of course, had a Super bowl commitments in Vegas, but all week, I was able to do whatever I wanted. I had a lot of fun. I sat down with both of these guys, and we talked about everything, including our Super bowl, that we were fortunate enough to win. At one point, we got both side of the story, carrying me out of the bar the first time I met Kylie. And we also reminisced about our time on Mount Kilimanjaro.

[00:01:33]

Dude, I can't wait to hear that recap.

[00:01:35]

Before we get to this conversation, though, we always got to start with a little bit of that, man. My voice is still.

[00:01:43]

Wow.

[00:01:43]

It's terrible. Absolutely horrendous. Mine is too. That's why I went low. You can't go high when you got a bad, when you got no voice, you can't go high. You can only go low. All right, good to know.

[00:01:53]

Go low.

[00:01:54]

And Jason on the Abbott elementary premiere. Holy shit, Jason, you're on that fucking Abbot elementary premiere.

[00:02:00]

That's right.

[00:02:01]

Kenta Brunson shout out. Yeah, we got on there.

[00:02:04]

Me, Jalen hurts. I love that show, man. It would have been one of my favorites. I've just started binge watching the first season, so I haven't even gotten to the second. But damn it, you're always on the coolest Philadelphia show. Why can't Kansas City have a show? Yeah. Jason, Jalen, Hurts, and Brandon Graham all made their cameos on season three premiere of the show Abbot elementary on ABC. Abbot elementary takes place in Philly, for those of you that don't know. So fans have been hoping for some Eagles guest appearances. That's right.

[00:02:36]

That's right.

[00:02:37]

Episode is centered around the school's career day, and Jason and BG popped in later in the show to tell Jalen he's late for just this picture alone is pretty fucking good. When did you guys tape this?

[00:02:52]

Oh, man. I think it was at the end.

[00:02:55]

Of a day in the recording.

[00:02:57]

It makes it look like we're trying.

[00:02:59]

To get to practice or something like that.

[00:03:00]

But I think this is, like, maybe like a Friday after, like one of the fast Fridays or maybe it was a Saturday. I can't remember.

[00:03:06]

Nice. But, yeah, it was super easy.

[00:03:09]

He was all set it up upstairs, and the room that we usually do.

[00:03:13]

The draft out of didn't have many.

[00:03:15]

Lines, so that made it nice and easy.

[00:03:17]

All right, now, was it as fun as always, sunny?

[00:03:21]

No, this was, like, on Zoom. Like, not in person always. Sunny was in person.

[00:03:26]

And I think got to see everybody.

[00:03:29]

Yeah, you got to see the set, how everything was done, so that was probably a more fun experience. But I love what this show represents and anything that sheds light on public schools.

[00:03:40]

The dynamic between the teachers is pretty special.

[00:03:44]

Kenta does a fantastic job, as does the whole crew over there at Abbot elementary. So was honored that they asked us to be a part of it for sure.

[00:03:53]

Check it out if you haven't seen it. And definitely check out Abbot elementary as a show in General. I guarantee you'll fucking like it. A lot of stuff you can relate to if you went to public school. Yeah. What else we got, dude?

[00:04:04]

We got some fan mentions of the week. That's right. New heights fan mentions of the week is brought to you by our friends.

[00:04:09]

At accelerator active energy drink.

[00:04:12]

Accelerator active energy is available at Quick Trip Meyer and Amazon. First fan mention of the week comes from JJ Watt. JJ replied to a clip of us talking about backyard football in a recent episode with a photo of him wearing Pablo Sanchez t shirt.

[00:04:26]

Hell yeah, baby. Pablo was the star of the entire backyard.

[00:04:30]

Let's get it going, JJ.

[00:04:31]

Let's get it going, baby.

[00:04:32]

Hell yeah.

[00:04:33]

We're trying to get this thing revived. We got some leads. The Super bowl kind of hindered us really going anywhere with those leads.

[00:04:40]

But now that that's over with, we're.

[00:04:43]

Going to do our best to bring this thing to reality. We got some pieces in place, and if JJ wants to be a part of it, I think that'd be pretty cool.

[00:04:51]

Hell, yeah. It's unite the brothers. You know what I'm saying?

[00:04:55]

I think that's a great idea.

[00:04:56]

Watson, the Kelsey. That's a powerful duo right there. Our last fan mention comes from at CNOL. Chuck Knoll, 50. I'm assuming his name is Chuck Knoll on Twitter, who posted an incredible photo of Jason. Let's talk about the Hamkoozi episode.

[00:05:14]

Hamkoozi episode?

[00:05:15]

That was a long time ago.

[00:05:17]

That is my rookie year, I think.

[00:05:19]

Jesus.

[00:05:20]

Actually, that might be my second year.

[00:05:22]

That's my second year. I'm going to say rookie year.

[00:05:24]

That's when I had the mustache.

[00:05:26]

Yeah, no, that's all I got. What do you mean? What is it? Explain the ham, Koozie.

[00:05:30]

It's just eating a ham sandwich in.

[00:05:32]

A jacuzzi with a long sleeve shirt. You get into the hot tub with a long sleeve shirt on. I mean, sometimes you're fucking psychomaniac. You're a psychotic.

[00:05:45]

It's a dry fit.

[00:05:48]

There's no world.

[00:05:49]

You never seen the fat guy get.

[00:05:50]

In the pool with a shirt on?

[00:05:51]

No, there's no world where that makes the shirt on.

[00:05:54]

No, it does. When somebody's trying to take a picture of you.

[00:06:00]

Since when have you been ashamed of your body?

[00:06:03]

I don't know.

[00:06:03]

I don't know why I'm wearing that shirt. This happened over ten years ago. At this point, I don't remember why we did this. I remember the ham sandwich was good. And I remember I need to go in the jacuzzi.

[00:06:13]

That thing looks toasted. That thing looks.

[00:06:15]

I'm not. Lie. That thing looks pretty good.

[00:06:16]

I mean, it's the Eagles cafeteria, baby.

[00:06:18]

They do it good.

[00:06:19]

Well, the Hamkuzi, baby. For those of you that have never experienced a jacuzzi with a ham sandwich, do yourself a favor or don't. Before we hear from Bo Allen and Chris Long, let's answer some no dumb questions, because there's no such thing as a dumb question. Just do dumb asses answering them. No dumb questions is brought to you by buffalo wild wings. Go to bww.com to find your participating free wings for America location. Limit six wings per guest. Let's go. Sports bar from user Don Dizzle. Too Reddit page. The athletic article by Justin Williams was hilarious. We need more stories. About the college house. What is your favorite story from sharing a room in college? Yeah, the athletic had a great fucking article. They interviewed a lot of our college teammates. Most really made us the ones like degenerates, but yeah, that's fine. Well, I mean, what college football player isn't? If you're not, you're doing college wrong. Thoughts on the article. Did you guys know your former roommates were being interviewed for it? Yes, I did. I got asked by a few guys if it was cool. I'm just like, fucking dude, it's always cool.

[00:07:38]

I completely trust all of them.

[00:07:40]

Nobody told me shit.

[00:07:41]

I made sure to tell them, don't hold back, like, tell all the good stories. And sure enough, they mentioned all the really good ones, like Zach's mom walking in on me firing up the garage before one of the games. Absolutely hilarious. And that's how I was living back then. What were your thoughts on it? Dude, I thought it was good. You read it, right? You read it, right?

[00:08:06]

I did read it. I thought it was awesome. It's cool hearing from former teammates and guys that we.

[00:08:12]

Dude, it's the best.

[00:08:12]

Man.

[00:08:13]

That house was so special. I mean, think about championships that house has had. Roll through it between me, you, Derek wolf and zach.

[00:08:19]

Zach, it is crazy. Got some fucking hardware. We got hardware, boys.

[00:08:24]

Amount of parties and fun we had, those were. I mean, listen, don't get much better than the times that we were in that hustle. For sure.

[00:08:32]

You ain't lying, man. Gosh, what's one of them that wasn't shared though? I feel like a lot of them were pretty good. I had you punching a hole in the wall.

[00:08:42]

There's one with craig Parminer where you know exactly which one I'm talking.

[00:08:47]

It's because our entire living room was out in the front, dude.

[00:08:52]

Wolfie just decided to become a furniture mover at some point and then decided to start doing the people's elbow on Craig parman around a mattress. I don't even know how to describe it. Like word.

[00:09:06]

Yeah, you can't replay that?

[00:09:08]

Dude.

[00:09:11]

I don't think I've ever laughed harder.

[00:09:13]

You haven't. I came out because you and fucking zach were in tears, like, to the point where you couldn't breathe. Like I was like, dude, if they laugh any harder, they're going to fucking explode.

[00:09:24]

Their hearts are going. It was so close.

[00:09:30]

What's a good one from there, man? Fuck, I don't know. Yeah, there's just so many, man. We talked about the hot sauce, we talked about fucking just how we had a big ass trash can like a dude. It was a filthy, but so much fucking fun house, man. Endless memories. I just remember the davis family owning the home and the fact that evan had to patch up all the walls and maybe redo some floors and some doors and some windows by the time we were out of there. So shout out to ev voltron, as I call them.

[00:10:07]

Shout out to Gail and the Duke. Greg davis for man.

[00:10:11]

For dane.

[00:10:13]

Yeah.

[00:10:16]

One of the best families that I've ever fucking come encounter with, man. No doubt. Just the absolute best, man. Shout out to the davises. I wish we had more stories, but if you already read the article, you noticed that we were pretty fucking shit faced the entire time, so not a lot of Memories really come to mind. It's pretty accurate. Yeah, but we could probably talk about a few. There were a lot of great stories in the article. Should we play a quick game of confirm or deny with some of the ones that were mentioned?

[00:10:48]

I can confirm all of them right now. Nobody made up a story.

[00:10:52]

Yeah.

[00:10:52]

Good. During a house party, Jason was a little inebriated and ripped a sink out of the wall. Well, that wasn't at the house.

[00:11:01]

That wasn't at the previous football house.

[00:11:05]

Yeah.

[00:11:05]

And Trav wasn't even there yet because this is my rookie year. But, yeah, a bunch of the older guys had a house, and I was.

[00:11:10]

A freshman, and at some point, I.

[00:11:15]

Tried to use the sink to get up, and it started falling out of the wall. And then before I knew it, the whole sink was in my hands, and water is getting sprayed all over the place. And Haruki Nakamura, who also played the lead. Shout out to Haruki.

[00:11:31]

Shout out to ruin.

[00:11:32]

One of the guys living in the.

[00:11:33]

House, he wanted to kill me.

[00:11:34]

And as a 7th degree black belt in judo or whatever martial art he and his family did, it was something I was not too fired up about, but, yeah, that was a fun one for sure. That happened. It's a true story.

[00:11:48]

Also, Jason, once. He confirmed that one. Jason once filled a water bottle with Jameson around St. Patrick's Day and drank it during a spring practice. He didn't just drink it himself.

[00:12:00]

I also gave a speech before practice.

[00:12:02]

After. That was after practice.

[00:12:04]

Okay.

[00:12:04]

I remembered it. You were fucking hammered when you did the practice. When you did.

[00:12:08]

I was just furious that they made us practice on St. Patrick's Day. I'm like, why are we not getting St. Patrick's Day off? There's no way we should have to.

[00:12:15]

Come to practice right now.

[00:12:16]

I was so mad.

[00:12:17]

There's no reason why we should practice.

[00:12:19]

On St. Patty's Day retroactively.

[00:12:22]

I think, retrospectively, I think probably makes.

[00:12:26]

Sense that we practice. I mean, just practice and then go have fun. But at the time, I didn't make sense, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.

[00:12:34]

So Jason put the old Gatorade wristbands, like the Live, strong wristbands. Gatorade made one. He put it around the special water bottle that had Jameson in it, and he didn't put ice in it. Ladies and gentlemen, this was.

[00:12:47]

You don't want to dilute that down.

[00:12:48]

Hot as balls in fucking Cincinnati spring practice. And sure enough, we're all getting psyched out by Jason trying to come hydrate us and giving us a bottle of Jameson. Hot Jameson at that was not the surprise you were hoping for, but, I mean, made for a good memory. And Jason's speech after that practice was one everyone will remember about how Jason's ancestry came over to America.

[00:13:22]

It was a very St. Patrick's Day speech, for sure.

[00:13:26]

Yes, it was. It was exactly what we needed. So we can confirm that one. I once stripped during a charity fashion show. I actually deny this one because by the time I got to this part. So I didn't do the chiefs. I mean, the chiefs. I didn't do the Bearcats women's 101 day until I was, like, a junior or senior. So this was you. They stopped doing the fashion show by the time I went. By the time I was a part of it. No, dude, this was 1000% you. I did not stripe over here.

[00:14:05]

I remember this happening.

[00:14:07]

You remember this happening because you were a part of it. You were the one.

[00:14:10]

You're confused on this.

[00:14:12]

You were the one in a fucking jock strap. This was not Travis.

[00:14:15]

This was you.

[00:14:17]

It's not me.

[00:14:18]

All right.

[00:14:19]

Whatever they got rid of, I'll confirm.

[00:14:21]

It, because I know for a fact.

[00:14:22]

You did this at one point. You just don't remember doing it. No. So you don't remember getting on stage with John Goebel and being in nothing but your underwear? No, I didn't do that. They switched it from a fashion show to.

[00:14:39]

It might not have been a fashion show, but whatever it is, you stripped down. I remember this happening.

[00:14:44]

This is so false.

[00:14:46]

Nobody wanted to see me strip down.

[00:14:48]

That's why they had to stop.

[00:14:49]

Furious.

[00:14:50]

I've never magic miked anything like this. We had a giant outdoor garbage can sitting in the middle of the living room stacked with pizza boxes. It was more than pizza boxes. It was everything. You name it. Cans, pizza, beer, leftovers. And we didn't have a lid. It just stunk up the entire fucking place.

[00:15:12]

It did.

[00:15:13]

And it was actually useful. It was useful. It was exactly what we needed because we were a bunch of filthy animals and the trash was piling up was filled. Yeah, it was just piled up. So what better than to put a huge outdoor garbage can in the living room? Make it easy on everybody.

[00:15:29]

Yeah.

[00:15:29]

Confirm Travis missed his flight for.

[00:15:31]

Well, we already know that's true for.

[00:15:33]

The University of Cincinnati graduation. That happened way after the fact, but yes, that is, in fact, a true statement.

[00:15:40]

Yeah, I got to confirm that one. That was a mess up on my behalf. And thanks for the diploma either way. Thank you. Love you guys. All right.

[00:15:51]

And that does it for no dumb questions. Brought to you by Buffalo wild Wings. Let's go, sports bar.

[00:15:57]

Disgusting. That hurts so bad. I fucked up the clap because you sounded so disgusting. All right, now let's get to the main event. Jason Bo Allen, Chris Long. Take it away, baby. Let's talk about prize picks, shall we? Yeah. Prize picks is America's number one fantasy sports app with over 3 million members.

[00:16:19]

Want to play alongside some of prize picks favorite players like rapper Meek Mill and comedian Andrew Schultz? You can now find community plays under the promos tab of the app to view entries from some of the biggest names in prize picks communities.

[00:16:31]

Each week, quick withdrawals, easy gameplay, and an enormous selection of players and stat types are what makes prize picks the number one daily fantasy sports app.

[00:16:40]

And now for the portion of this ad read label personal experience to be read by town outside of Travis and Jason Kelsey. Because we are active NFL players and cannot participate. But you know who can? He may be swole.

[00:16:53]

He may be Brandon.

[00:16:55]

He may be swole Brandon.

[00:16:57]

Come. Come on on in here.

[00:16:58]

Swole Brandon and Brandon swole ass in here looking like a protein shake.

[00:17:03]

Thanks, guys.

[00:17:04]

Bye.

[00:17:04]

All right, so for this week, here's what we're going to do. We're going to take a little second half NBA prize picks right now. We're going to go right now. They're running a prom on Yokich. All he needs is one game of 30 points and it hits. And I think I'm going to keep it in the wave sports entertainment family. And go. Paul George. More four and a half games of 30 plus points. This will be a pick that I forget about probably in a week, but it'll be nice when it pays off in like two months. Sometimes I leave little treats for myself like that in price picks. It's kind of fun. You should try it. But make your own picks. It's your call. Back to the guys.

[00:17:38]

All right, now, hopefully our intern did you guys right and helped make you some money. If not, make sure you shoot over to prize picks.com newheights and use the code new heights for a first deposit match up to $100.

[00:17:51]

How about that? Again, that's prizepix.com new heights code new heights for a first deposit match up to $100. Pick more, pick less.

[00:20:07]

All right, it's time to welcome our guest this episode, and we got a twofer. First guest joining me now in Las Vegas was in the NFL for eleven seasons. 252 total tackles, 70 sacks, six fumble recoveries, one Walter Payton man of the year award, and two Super Bowls back to back. My man, the one and only Chris Long. Yeah, baby. And then also, full disclosure, they wanted to combine your guys'stats and me to just read it together. They didn't want to do this to you, but I made them do this because these are good nose tackle stats, and the world needs to know. These are good nose guard stats. Horses to tackles with seven NFL seasons, 72 tackles. That's more than I thought you would have had, to be honest with you.

[00:21:02]

That's a nice backhand accomplishment.

[00:21:03]

No.

[00:21:04]

Well, dude, you didn't play for, like, how many tackles do most notice anyways? 72 tackles, two and a half sacks, which is fucking great for never playing a third down.

[00:21:15]

How many call sacks?

[00:21:16]

Thanks, my guy.

[00:21:17]

Exactly. We're going to talk about this. We're going to talk about this right now. Two and a half sacks, one fumble recovery, and of course, one Super bowl championship that we all share. My good friend, Bo Allen.

[00:21:27]

Yeah, baby.

[00:21:28]

The greenlight pod is in the house. Can I ask you. Let's talk about these stats, though, because one of the reasons I wanted to have it separated is because these are actually good nose tackle stats.

[00:21:38]

Thanks, bud.

[00:21:39]

I'm serious. What's an average tackles per season for most nose guards in the league? Like under ten, maybe.

[00:21:47]

Brown from the Panthers had, like, 100.

[00:21:50]

Okay. He plays a lot of three, though, too. He doesn't just play nose.

[00:21:53]

He's a good player. But, I mean, dude, there are games where I feel like I had a great game and grayed out 100%, which is kind of hard to do. Like, you know, clean statue.

[00:22:02]

That's what I'm saying.

[00:22:03]

Oh, my God. There was one time, bro, we played the Falcons in Tampa. I had to get a fucking. There was a two point or there was extra point that was blocked. I had to chase it down, like, 80 yards and tackle it to get on the stat sheet. And you know how it goes. Those plays don't even count in the statue.

[00:22:18]

That was a two point play.

[00:22:20]

Yeah.

[00:22:20]

So where does that end up? Barwin statted me at a charity event. I text you about this. Did. He and him were doing a charity event.

[00:22:28]

Okay.

[00:22:28]

And the invitations got, like, bios on the bottom and they're like, chris, just check this out, see if you're okay with this. And under CB, it's everything he ever charity guy. I was put in the precarious situation of sending it back and being like.

[00:22:52]

No, I'd like to also now I want my stats.

[00:22:55]

That's a good CB.

[00:22:56]

That's a good CB story.

[00:22:58]

But you played primarily first and second down.

[00:23:01]

Yeah.

[00:23:02]

You had 72 tackles despite what, your first three seasons? I mean, how many percent of the plays were you in?

[00:23:09]

I don't know.

[00:23:10]

I'm just saying I was actually impressed with this stat line, which is why I wanted in. You are an unheralded player and you deserve more credit. And you're also a better pass rusher than you ever got credit for.

[00:23:20]

I appreciate that. It's hard to.

[00:23:22]

You just were the short, fat white guy that nobody believed.

[00:23:25]

Short.

[00:23:27]

He's really tall. And also, I looked up your pff.

[00:23:29]

Grade the other day.

[00:23:30]

I was going to use you as an example.

[00:23:32]

That's what it should be.

[00:23:33]

And they fucked you. No, they fucked you. Pff. Fucked it.

[00:23:36]

Did they? Yeah. I would have thought you'd have been too low. God damn it, pf.

[00:23:41]

It's not like any of us. Look at our pfF scores.

[00:23:44]

I've never seen in my life.

[00:23:45]

Yeah, no. Great hot moons. All going back for ten years. I was like, golly, was I drunk that year.

[00:23:53]

Yeah, like, fuck.

[00:23:54]

What goes into being a good. So I actually think you were actually. I'm dead serious. He was a very good pass rusher because he had two moves that worked off of each other really well. Bowl the outside shoulder and fucking hump.

[00:24:04]

Yeah, exactly.

[00:24:05]

And what, like, Chris, same thing. Like, you would work that one arm. Yeah. Or as the other side when I was swipe.

[00:24:13]

As you get older, you change what you do.

[00:24:15]

Yeah. So what goes into figuring out what moves work? You just like, try them. That's fair. The guy that had 70 seconds, I'll tell you all about it.

[00:24:27]

But it's hard because you know this. Every coach, I mean, like, you had a great position coach in general. You still do. I don't know what you're doing. Every D line coach, they come up with this formula for how they want to teach scheme. And what they often forget is that every guy's different. Yeah.

[00:24:47]

Everybody has their can't.

[00:24:49]

What I can do, Bo, can't do vice versa. There's things about I couldn't land a that you can't just show me that on a tape and be like, yeah, you do it, too. So I think every guy has to figure out what's their mechanism for getting the, like, whether it's a swipe or a chop club. Like, I play with Robert Quinn and you remember watching.

[00:25:07]

Yeah.

[00:25:07]

He'd like jump into a chop club and he'd grab the back pad to turn his body.

[00:25:12]

Oh, my gosh.

[00:25:13]

And that's something I had no shot of doing. So it was like I wouldn't even practice that move.

[00:25:17]

Like, that Cross chop is so sexy when you hit it.

[00:25:19]

Right. It's so sexy looking.

[00:25:21]

It's an all or nothing shot.

[00:25:23]

Yeah. And the swipe was, for me, the way to get the edge. But you can get the edge off power, too. And I think you watch tape. You watch tape and you probably know this from matching up with guys. You might have a totally different concept of who a guy is based off tape. And in the first quarter, you're like.

[00:25:39]

Holy shit, I got to switch this up.

[00:25:40]

Oh, yeah. Oh, man, he has an anchor now. I had my whole game plan based off power complex. So now being a pass rusher is just hitting it on the fly. I think that's the way to go. You learn what your bread and butter, but then you got a bunch of counters.

[00:25:54]

How much of it is setting it up, too? Like the double swipe does the power in getting the guy to shoot his hands to prevent that. Set that up.

[00:26:03]

Everything's set up. I mean, down to the way you use your tracks.

[00:26:06]

Sure. What's tracks?

[00:26:08]

Like a speed track or a tilt track?

[00:26:10]

Like your pass rush angle.

[00:26:12]

So the angle of the quarterback or where his drop is going to be.

[00:26:15]

Yes.

[00:26:16]

Okay.

[00:26:16]

Like, for instance, if I'm in a rush, lane, and I'm 33, which I.

[00:26:20]

Learned in practice, it doesn't matter how old you are, Lane is.

[00:26:24]

Yeah, I'm not going to get his edge.

[00:26:25]

Yeah, he's getting off the speed track.

[00:26:27]

Is a waste of time for me. You have to like with a guy like that, take a toll track, try to sit him down closer, shorten the edge for you.

[00:26:35]

Yes.

[00:26:35]

And then the fractions of time are in your favor. If you actually, by the grace of God, beat Lane and get on his edge. If I beat him at the top of the rush at eight yards, three yards wider, there's not going to be enough time. So my only shot is to go right at him.

[00:26:49]

Yes. So you dictate get him to shorten his set down.

[00:26:53]

Yes.

[00:26:53]

Get ready to anchor. And now all of a sudden, that edge is shorter. Yeah.

[00:26:56]

And you set up the edge. Stuff with power or speed can set up power. You get a guy bailing back who's like a deep setter, and then the minute he's on that third step and his foot's in the air, you go at him. And so guys set it up throughout the game and then it sucks when you waste your awesome move on like a draw. Like you've been practicing this one move and you save it for a big situation. Third and nine. And they run a draw. And so sometimes it's hit or miss.

[00:27:23]

Yeah. I think if you want to be a good pass rusher, too, you really need to understand your own game and not try to hit moves that really aren't you. And that's what I was talking about for me. I'm not a cross shot guy, man. My arms are too short.

[00:27:36]

You need long arms for a cross shot.

[00:27:38]

Well, you just need, like, you need a great get off. I think that's a big part of it.

[00:27:47]

Big toe was too small.

[00:27:53]

Works so well for Robert.

[00:27:54]

It. Yeah, but no, for like, I'm always going to set everything up with like a power rush. And then guys would always, you know how it is, man. If you get a big white nose guard in front of you who you know is a power rush, you're going to try to jump set him. And that's when I would hump the shit.

[00:28:08]

The moment you get bulled, the next time you're getting a situation where you know it's going to be a longer pass set, it's like, man, I'm going to try and get on this guy quick. And if you can catch him while he's trying to get on you quick, he's leaning and that's where the hump. Yeah, exactly.

[00:28:23]

People attacking your ball hand and stuff like that's probably got to be, dude.

[00:28:27]

It used to not be that big of an issue. And then we were playing Dallas this year and Dallas had a great beat on our silent count. And osa I can't name. Thank you. I thought he really took a big step this year as a player, third or fourth, but he took a big step this year and they were all over our snap count, it felt like. Or he was just getting an amazing get off at home and he got on me a couple of times on the snap hand and completely surprised.

[00:28:59]

Yeah, that would stress the shit out.

[00:29:02]

But usually, especially on a silent count, I can cheat it, right? Because I'm the one controlling it. That's why it was unique. Like, normally, silent count, I actually get off the ball quicker than everybody else because I can kind of.

[00:29:12]

Except Lane.

[00:29:13]

Yeah, well, Lane's offsides. Your friends off sides, they're not calling it well.

[00:29:21]

Dude, when you're in chip's offense, I remember being a rookie. I was supposed to two gap your front side. A gap. And you do that outside zone, you're snapping the ball, but you've already moved your body, and it's like, what the fuck am I supposed to. How am I supposed to get in front of you?

[00:29:34]

Yeah.

[00:29:34]

Unbelievable.

[00:29:35]

Were exposed by Hula Hooper. Could you hula hoop?

[00:29:38]

I've never been able to do it. I would love to try it again.

[00:29:41]

Because I think you might have a talent.

[00:29:43]

We might try that later, if we can find one. No, that's one of the things in shotgun that's actually not. So. The downside of outside zone and shotgun is the back is further away from. He's, like, displaced from the line, right? Yeah, he's got to catch up. But the advantage of it for me is I can basically flick the ball and move way quicker because I'm not attached to the quarterback, but, yeah, I don't know. All right, how about we're square zero on the rundown so far? All right, first question. Do you guys feel slighted that it took this long to get you on new heights?

[00:30:23]

Yes. Thanks for asking.

[00:30:25]

We talked about it before. It is crazy. It's been two years, and you guys are just getting on.

[00:30:30]

Yeah, but, no, I mean, it's like, we've been just admiring what you guys are doing, bro. I could not believe when we talked about it.

[00:30:37]

Yes. How crazy.

[00:30:38]

Two years ago.

[00:30:39]

Yeah.

[00:30:41]

You got all the realistic concerns of being a player and doing a podcast, and I just think you've nailed it. You play at a high level, so it makes you able to not come in and worry about getting your ass kicked and then having to do a podcast, even if gets their butt kicked. You play pretty well.

[00:30:57]

Yeah, it was still hard. Whenever you're losing games, it's not fun.

[00:31:00]

To do a podcast for fun to do anything.

[00:31:02]

I started to feel for you, but that's it. This is the best thing in the world to probably come in and do when you're winning, but then it's like, damn, you saw the flip side of the coin. But I just think you guys have nailed it, bro. And going to work with my brother. I empathize with you.

[00:31:15]

So I will say this. For all the new watchers of the show that weren't around last year when we kind of said this, Chris is a big reason why we started the show to begin with, aside from Travis's team, which was very involved, I reached out to Chris right away when we started talking about whether it made sense to do a podcast in the middle of a season, and you were one of the convincing people.

[00:31:36]

That was good. Shit. I don't remember.

[00:31:38]

You did. You basically were like, man, just, if you think you're going to get into it, do it while you're still playing. Do it while everything is of topic. Right. And get it started.

[00:31:54]

You gave me some advice. You gave me some advice, too, Chris. That's something. New England and free agency. You said, yeah, don't do a podcast when you're in.

[00:32:03]

Yeah, don't. Depending on what team you're. Yeah, yeah.

[00:32:08]

I was like, okay, you can't even take a selfie in that building. No, I'm not serious. Not even outside the building. Like, rookies come in all excited, and then the next, the post is deleted, and they have a meeting.

[00:32:21]

Well, we're happy to be on.

[00:32:22]

Kelsey, thank you for finally coming on. The three of us know each other pretty well. We all won a Super bowl, obviously, in Philadelphia. I'll start with Bo. Do you remember the first time we met?

[00:32:33]

I do, actually, because I remember Kelsey and I have the same agent shout out. Clarity sports, Jason Bernstein and Emily. And I remember Emily was like, hey, we have a couple guys in the Eagles. I think they're going to really like, you guys should go out to eat. And we went to. Yeah, in Philly.

[00:32:51]

I remember that.

[00:32:52]

I remember just being a rookie and just being like, don't say, like, don't get these.

[00:32:56]

You didn't stop talking the whole time.

[00:32:58]

Exactly. That plan worked out really well. But I remember. I think that was the first time I met you, Connor Barwin. And it was a good time. I feel like we just kind of got along. I don't know.

[00:33:08]

What were your first impressions.

[00:33:12]

Man? What a fucking question, Kelse. You think I remember that far back?

[00:33:16]

I know you remember the first impression in the shower. You remember all those.

[00:33:20]

Oh, boy.

[00:33:21]

Yeah.

[00:33:22]

Some things are just so grotesque imprinted on your. I mean, I remember thinking you guys were cool. Dude, when you're a rookie, you don't know shit. You get drafted, and then you go to rookie minicamp, and your head's spinning. It's like, I don't like, I just remember thinking, you guys remind me a lot of a lot of my friends that I had in college at Wisconsin, and just thinking, like, I don't know, I hope I fucking make this team, because these guys seem pretty. Like, that's pretty much what it boils.

[00:33:46]

Down to, but that was fucking stupid.

[00:33:52]

I didn't realize this was going to be a thing where you just.

[00:33:56]

You're in the middle. Speaking of first impressions, we talked about this before the show. Kylie's first impression of me was you carrying me out of a the side. What's your side of the story?

[00:34:14]

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. That was physically one of the hardest things I've ever done. That was harder than climbing Mount Kilmanjaro. It was, like, anaerobic.

[00:34:22]

I was fighting it. I was fighting it.

[00:34:25]

The baby was, dude. The thing that people don't know is coming in. Kylie and Jason met a tinder, and so for a week or two leading up to you guys meeting, they were, like, know, online, and Kelsey was talking about this girl, and I really like this girl. I got to make a good first impression. The cafeteria just, like, talking about it. And then we have the holiday party in Philly, which is, like, a big deal. Like, kind of a formal event, like, get all dressed up, and we pregamed it, of course.

[00:35:03]

Of course.

[00:35:03]

Playing Wayne Brusky, probably. And then Kel's like, yeah, I think I'm going to meet up with this girl. And I've heard all about her. I'm, like, excited to meet her. And the night just went a little bit sideways. Kelsey fell asleep on the bar, like, snoozing. And this is the thing about Kelsey.

[00:35:18]

It'S actually not that uncommon.

[00:35:20]

It's not uncommon.

[00:35:20]

Yeah.

[00:35:21]

I actually was looking back through some old photos, and I have a lot of disturbing amount of photos of you just asleep in various places.

[00:35:28]

I think my brain just eventually got to the point that it prevented me from drinking alcohol by just shutting down.

[00:35:36]

Well, this is the thing I never.

[00:35:37]

Safest thing that can happen, right?

[00:35:38]

Yeah.

[00:35:39]

That's good.

[00:35:39]

So I think it should be what I'm carrying.

[00:35:41]

It probably should have happened earlier through.

[00:35:43]

Old city, like, from buffalo billies, which, honestly, elite bar.

[00:35:46]

Great.

[00:35:46]

Yeah, great bar. Like, they highly recommend. Dealt with darts and, like, big buck hunter and pool, and we go there all the time anyway. It's like, cobblestone streets kelp. And you're fighting me, and I'm, like, straining. I dropped you.

[00:35:58]

I don't know why?

[00:35:59]

I know I was sleeping, but I remember it.

[00:36:02]

Really.

[00:36:03]

I remember fighting you and laughing my ass off. You, like, giggling.

[00:36:07]

And then we get in.

[00:36:08]

I drop you hard.

[00:36:10]

I'm trying to pick.

[00:36:10]

You're like, I don't know, man. It was a whole thing.

[00:36:15]

Were you shocked when Kylie agreed to go on a second date with me after that?

[00:36:19]

I was slightly surprised. You're a great guy, man.

[00:36:22]

You're charming.

[00:36:23]

Look at that laugh. Like, how can you not. How can you not want to go on a second date with you? Great guy. Kelse.

[00:36:29]

Come on now, Chris, you joined Philly in 2017, fresh off a New England Patriots Super bowl. What were your first impressions of me? The Eagles? Bo.

[00:36:42]

Yeah, dude. My first impression was the first guy I met was Lane.

[00:36:46]

Yeah.

[00:36:46]

Like, he was just hanging out.

[00:36:48]

Like, talk about Walter Payne. Man of the year.

[00:36:49]

Yeah.

[00:36:50]

Nominee.

[00:36:51]

Yeah. And he was just milling around in there, and we just started talking, and I was like, these guys are pretty cool. He was explaining each guy's personality. He's like, wait till you meet Jason. You're going to love him, the whole thing. And so I just remember meeting you and watching you operate and seeing you kind of like, the way you competed at everything, that was fun for me. So I just kind of eye guys up to see who the alphas are, because you're an older guy, and you might be asked to be a part of that group, and I just want to know who's bullshit and who's not. And it was obvious to me, not pumping your tires here, you're not a bullshit guy. And so that was probably it for me, was just like, competitor, and what you see is exactly what you get. Exactly what you get.

[00:37:37]

Very genuine, authentic guy. Kelsey, we love that about you.

[00:37:40]

What were your thoughts of coming to the Eagles after being with the Patriots?

[00:37:44]

Dude, it's funny. The first thought I had was the Super bowl week of the Patriots. Now, I wasn't thinking about free agency. Yeah. But we were playing the Falcons. And Friday night, I remember sitting in the film room and catching up on some late pass rush stuff, and I was watching reels, and the Eagles and Falcons game from 17 came up. Yeah, or 1616 in Philly.

[00:38:09]

That was a good game for us.

[00:38:10]

And your d line got after them. It's so funny to me, that moment, looking back at it, watching film, that light bulb went off in my head, and I don't think I thought about it, but it stayed there. It was like, it made a lasting impression. I was like, that looks fun. And then when it was time to decide what I wanted to do. I called Ian Yates Cunningham, who's now with Chicago with Ryan poles, and he was Joe Douglas's guy in Baltimore.

[00:38:36]

Gotcha.

[00:38:36]

Played college football with him. And I said, hey, will you talk to Howie, see if you could use a vet? And, yeah, that was. The rest was history.

[00:38:43]

Nice. I played you in my first ever NFL game.

[00:38:48]

Was that in St. Louis when you had Mike Vick? It was, yeah, it was a close game. I was on Todd Harriman's for a little.

[00:38:56]

I thought it was close the whole time.

[00:38:57]

Close to me.

[00:38:58]

No.

[00:38:59]

Maybe for you guys. Which shows you your standard. We were like, man, we're getting our ass kicked, like, every other week. That score up, I think it was like 34 to eleven.

[00:39:10]

Was it?

[00:39:11]

Wow.

[00:39:11]

Oh, wow.

[00:39:12]

Okay, maybe it was a little bit on there. It was my first game, so there's a lot of things going on. I was trying to block James Laronitis over there.

[00:39:19]

Fucking Minnesota's finest.

[00:39:20]

Hey, there you go. Let me see what's next.

[00:39:23]

I do this all the time. It's fun.

[00:39:25]

It's fun being on the other side, man.

[00:39:27]

What do you want to talk about while he finds his place?

[00:39:29]

Anything, bro. What do you got for me?

[00:39:32]

Top three candy zin flavors.

[00:39:37]

Coffee. Love coffee. Three milligram.

[00:39:39]

Okay.

[00:39:40]

Kind of on a citrus kick right now and then. Cool. Mint.

[00:39:42]

Okay, that's disgusting. All your choices were bad.

[00:39:47]

Are you a menthol guy?

[00:39:48]

No. Chill. Smooth.

[00:39:50]

Oh, chill is great.

[00:39:51]

Okay, go ahead. He found his place.

[00:39:54]

Yeah. Let's skip ahead to the Super Bowl Zinpod.

[00:40:00]

Before we emergency produce, before we get.

[00:40:02]

To the game itself, there's an iconic pic. Both of you in dogmas. This was after this picture with Atlanta. Right? So let's say this. You and Lane started it. Everybody knows this on the team. You and Lane started.

[00:40:18]

Yeah.

[00:40:19]

How did that happen?

[00:40:20]

So, I don't know. All week it was like, do you guys know you're not supposed to win this game? It was like, hey, like 50 motherfuckers at your locker. Same question. And we were making a mockery of the fact that we were underdogs. So it started as kind of a joke. We were bored on, like, a Tuesday, and we were like, we should get some dog masks and wear them to the media after the game. Now, we're only thinking one week at a time here. Now, the scariest thing is when you commit to actually putting those on. It's like, we're going to be a meme or it's going to be the coolest thing. I think that moment happened around when we were walking through the tunnel with those two dog masks on. But Lane was like. I was like, lane, can you handle?

[00:41:05]

And.

[00:41:06]

And to his credit, he found like. And we didn't have a breed in.

[00:41:10]

So you just happened to pick the best mask of all time.

[00:41:14]

That mask could be any mask. It was just whatever was available, I don't think. Amazon.

[00:41:18]

Speak for yourself. I sought out the poodle mass.

[00:41:21]

Well, which was a fucking weird. Like, a saluki.

[00:41:26]

It's so fucking creepy. It was like a hyper realistic poodle.

[00:41:30]

Mass, which tells you that we were walking down the hall, and he was like, I don't do that shit, too.

[00:41:37]

The reason you were like, hey, should we do this? Should we do this? Hey, do you want to do it? You want to do it? Yeah. I was like, I'll order one right now. They're like, search dog mass on Amazon. You were like, saw this poodle. I was like, bro, you got the poodle. And then you were like, you're not going to know.

[00:41:53]

But I remember this. The reason you went poodle, poodle was because after you guys wore these, the first game, they all sold out instantly. It became such a big thing that you couldn't get any more of them. Like, I couldn't even get one. That's why I didn't wear one. You got the poodle. You had to opt for, like, a different one. You're like, the poodle's fucking hilarious.

[00:42:12]

The Kirkland brand.

[00:42:14]

Do you remember they were crying, jordaning everybody?

[00:42:16]

Yes.

[00:42:17]

Yeah.

[00:42:17]

I was like, all I could think about was, like, my worst nightmare was me crying, Jordan with a dog mask on. And I was like, it's going to happen. But, yeah, as it got closer, it was evident that it was a big thing for people, and then it became a serious thing. It was a fuck around, and then it became a serious thing. And then it's on the inside of the Super bowl ring now.

[00:42:37]

It's on the inside of our watches.

[00:42:39]

So, I mean, of all the cool shit that I've been a part of, that to me, not just the Super bowl, but those little conversations. Yeah. People are putting those masks on to this day because we were being dumbasses in the training room getting hilarious. It was awesome.

[00:42:56]

Fuck, it's great. The underdog mentality stuck, and we made it all the way to the Super bowl.

[00:43:01]

Yeah.

[00:43:01]

Chris, you ended up facing off in the Super bowl against a team you won a Super bowl with the previous year. What was that like?

[00:43:07]

It was another worst nightmare situation.

[00:43:10]

Why is that?

[00:43:11]

Because you're like, if we lose, I'm a huge, mean people talk about. Cause, like, when I left, I didn't leave New England on bad terms, but I left because the scheme wasn't right for, you know, when you leave New England, people are like, what the fuck is wrong? Why would you leave?

[00:43:28]

No one ever leaves New England on bad terms, Chris.

[00:43:31]

No. Well, some people do, but I wasn't one of those people. I just knew I was going to do something else. And so when it got to the Super Bowl, I was, like, praying whoever else it was in the AFC championship would get in. I think it was Jacksonville, because we huddled in Dom's office watching the second half of that game. And I really thought they could win that game. And there was a call in there or whatever, but I was like, man, if I lose to the pats, if me and Legarrett lose to the pats, they're going to kill us. And I was walking around, I'll never forget, and I probably asked you, jason, like, 14 times during the week, how many points you think you can score? How many points you think you score? Because we knew they were going to, at some point in the game, tom Brady with a flurry dude. Tom Brady. And in that second half they did. But you guys, like, I can remember one time coming over the sideline and lane was like, can you all just get a fucking stop? And I was like, this is happening.

[00:44:26]

The worst thing, chris, you're talking about, like, a nightmare scenario, losing against your former team in the Super bowl. I'm from Minnesota, so we're playing the Super bowl in my home state, 20 minutes from where I grew up. All my friends and family are there, and we're on the sideline. We cannot stop them. I'm like, we're about to lose this game because of our tv.

[00:44:42]

One worse. All my friends flew in, all my family.

[00:44:46]

My grandma's watching.

[00:44:47]

Yeah, dude.

[00:44:48]

She's probably disappointed me right now.

[00:44:50]

Dude. All the thoughts that are going through your head when it's going wrong, I mean, you can act like you don't think worst case scenario, but you always do.

[00:44:56]

Thank God, dude. Brandon Graham just.

[00:44:59]

And being BG is the man, 28 three the year before. So I know even when we got up on him, you're just like, got.

[00:45:07]

To keep the foot on the gas.

[00:45:08]

Got to keep the foot on the gas.

[00:45:09]

What was it like for you, kelse? Watch, like, you guys played unbelievably on offense.

[00:45:13]

Were you mad at us? Yeah.

[00:45:14]

Were you mad at us?

[00:45:16]

I'm going to ask the question more directly.

[00:45:19]

I wasn't mad, but it was like, God damn, man. They're really just not.

[00:45:22]

I know, but.

[00:45:25]

It was a record day for him.

[00:45:26]

I wanted to get on the.

[00:45:27]

It's ironic that the best Tom Brady statistically played in the.

[00:45:31]

Yeah.

[00:45:31]

Is one of the Super Bowls. He lost.

[00:45:34]

Not quite good.

[00:45:36]

But I seriously wanted to get on the red phone and cuss out whoever was. I would be like, put somebody else on Gronk, please do something else with Gronk.

[00:45:43]

We gotta try something. Mix it up.

[00:45:44]

It's funny when you watch that game back, because I actually hadn't seen it, the media copy, until last year when you guys were in the superball and we were out there, dude, there was so much fun shit that happened at game.

[00:45:53]

It was insane.

[00:45:55]

Objectively, one of the most incredible.

[00:45:58]

It was fantastic. And I guess to answer that question, though, I wasn't as focused on you guys. I was more amazed at how well Nick Foles was playing. It was like, anything we know when you're in that rhythm and in that zone where it just feels like everything's hitting.

[00:46:16]

Your offense was even, like, they were.

[00:46:18]

So good at running their games up front, and somehow we were passing them off, and Nick was poised, and it was just one of those feelings offensively that anything we were doing was working.

[00:46:30]

But I knew they couldn't beat you guys up front. That was one of the reasons I thought we'd win the game, was because I knew they couldn't generate enough pass rush. Yeah, you guys were just so good. And that wasn't a strength for them.

[00:46:42]

No, their defense was definitely on a down year, for sure, but they're so well coached and it's. Yeah, we had it done. One of the plays that I remember was the last play of the.

[00:46:57]

Yeah.

[00:46:58]

And I don't know why it was, like, such a low probability, but in.

[00:47:00]

My head, they're never dead.

[00:47:02]

Yeah, it's Tom Brady Gronk. And I remember that ball hanging up there forever, waiting for it to fall. It's like, literally, the guys who make the movies are very good because all of the noise is out. I don't hear anything. I see the ball, it drops, and I still don't know if the game's over. And you're like, looking for a flag. Like, we just went the fucking Super bowl because everybody's cheering.

[00:47:26]

Everybody's just cheering no matter what. And BG almost won too quick because he got around the edge and fell off. Tom and then Tom had the time because we were, I think, Russian, too, to really load up. And it was the scariest 5 seconds.

[00:47:41]

It was.

[00:47:42]

We talk about plays like that, but like, brandon, dude, bb stripsack. Literally, people say this. I blacked out. I was sobering so hard, and I was head rushing each other, like going crazy, like just becoming barbarians on the sideline. And then I look down, I'm like, all the way out the field. Like the hash marks on the numbers, I'm like, oh, shit, I don't want to get penalized. Yeah, but I mean, that was such an amazing play.

[00:48:08]

[00:51:36]

All right, let's move on to Mount Kilmanjaro. For those of you that don't know, Chris's foundation, Water Boys has a signature initiative called. Oh, no. It's called the Water Boys.

[00:51:46]

I'm an idiot.

[00:51:49]

For the 92 percentage Christmas foundation has a signature initiative called the Water Boys that is dedicated to providing clean water access to over 1 million people worldwide.

[00:52:00]

Yeah, that's the goal.

[00:52:02]

Deep bore wells in subsaharan, Africa.

[00:52:04]

Yeah, you're doing good.

[00:52:05]

I'm a water boy.

[00:52:06]

No, I am too, but I'm botching this.

[00:52:08]

No, you're doing great, bro. You're doing great. Yeah. Water boys. Man. We've provided water to 500,000 people in East Africa and Tanzania and Kenya. And then we do domestic stuff as well. We could be doing well in Wisconsin at some point. We could be doing well in Minneapolis at some point. No, I'm saying like up in your neck of the know. So I might be asking you to join me to do something outside of Camp Randall in that area. And then, jason, we could be doing an Ohio project at some point. So we're doing domestic and we're doing international. And you guys were kind enough to join me.

[00:52:42]

I'm a conquering killy.

[00:52:43]

That's really fun.

[00:52:44]

So what trip was that for you to killy? What climb?

[00:52:50]

That had to be maybe four.

[00:52:51]

You were higher than four, weren't you?

[00:52:53]

Four or five, I think five.

[00:52:55]

I honest, dude, hats off. Five times on that mountain, 20,000, dude.

[00:53:00]

A month of my life plus.

[00:53:01]

Incredible. Incredible.

[00:53:04]

Yeah, you really get.

[00:53:06]

Where does that hike rank in your hierarchy of killy hikes?

[00:53:11]

Oh, up there, dude, personalities on that hike were incredible. Yourself included.

[00:53:16]

Okay?

[00:53:17]

And just like every year you go, you meet new vets, you meet new players, man. We had Jim Morrow one time, you know, the coaching guy smoked it, dude.

[00:53:27]

Yeah.

[00:53:27]

His resting heart rate at 18,000ft was like 48. It was like a freaking nature. Okay, so you find out that some people are like amazing Mountaineers, and then you kind of side bet with each other who's going to struggle?

[00:53:41]

And it's a competitive group of military vets and athletes.

[00:53:44]

The camaraderie is awesome and nothing's off limits where it's like we bust each other's balls. It's like the locker room. You get in the tent. These guys and girls have been all over the world serving our country, and they don't know us at all. And they're not like super fans. They just want to do this thing with us. And the first night, it's always evident that there's a lot in common with the locker room stuff and just the camaraderie. And people hit it off. And as you know, the group chat fires off constantly. You make a bunch of great friends, man.

[00:54:14]

You learn a lot about yourself. You learn a lot about people in that situation. It's one of the most challenging things in a very different way than anything I've ever noticed.

[00:54:24]

Like time under tension.

[00:54:25]

Yeah, it's a cardio event. Yeah, it's a long deal.

[00:54:29]

He lost 26 pounds. I found out today.

[00:54:31]

Yeah, Kelsey and I almost had a scrap.

[00:54:33]

We did. We did.

[00:54:34]

We hated each other, Kelsey.

[00:54:36]

We hated each other, bro.

[00:54:38]

It was so pissed at me because he thought I took his hat.

[00:54:41]

You did. And then I know you snuck it in my bag.

[00:54:45]

We have the same hat because this lazy ass didn't do any research going into it.

[00:54:50]

Oh, I know he didn't do any research because for the new heights people, I told this on our podcast earlier, but the only time me and Jason both can be moody as fuck, but we have never been in an argument, except for on Kelly, because he did not think that I sufficiently filled him in on how hard it was to climb a 19,000. You did it, mountain. He was mad at me.

[00:55:08]

This is the first time I'm finding out that people actually die. Coffee?

[00:55:11]

Well, we don't put that in the brochures.

[00:55:14]

Yeah.

[00:55:15]

And Kelsey and I exhaust ourselves screaming at each other in our tent right before summit night. I don't have your fucking hat.

[00:55:21]

We have the same fucking hat.

[00:55:23]

That's what they yelling because I sent Kelse everything I bought because I did a bunch of research. Like, what kind of a gear whore. It was fun. It was fun to find all the stuff. So we had all the same stuff. Motherfucker, I know your head is in your fucking bag. And we were tempted.

[00:55:36]

You guys are married, bro.

[00:55:37]

Yelling at each other.

[00:55:38]

He wouldn't fucking look at the point we were. We're like, five nights in, he's got his earbuds in.

[00:55:42]

Just fucking pissed off. Like, pole, pole.

[00:55:45]

What did I do with those earbuds, though?

[00:55:47]

He took the earbud and he gave it back to me. We listened to tunes for shared earbuds music, and I'll tell you what, until those earbuds ran out, dude, that really.

[00:55:57]

Really, it was nice.

[00:55:58]

Break up the drudgery, man.

[00:55:59]

We started singing, and then we stopped singing, and then we stopped for a while. Okay, I need to conserve this oxygen. Chair.

[00:56:06]

That is just breathing.

[00:56:07]

The funniest Chris is like.

[00:56:08]

You're like, yeah.

[00:56:09]

Once we get to the fall summit, the sun will come up. We'll take a photo. So it's like, me and you, we get up there, and we're like, taking a pic. I was like, oh, that's going to be such a cool pick.

[00:56:16]

But I did warn false summit, and.

[00:56:19]

We look horrible, bro. You just went through such a great pick. So funny, man.

[00:56:26]

All right, let's talk some 2023 eagles. I'm interested into what your guys perspective was watching the season go. Be honest. I do. Because I have said what I think, and I would love to know from an outsider's perspective, what did it look like on both sides? Defensively and offensively?

[00:56:52]

I think when you replace two coordinators, the chances of you getting back are slim.

[00:56:57]

Yeah.

[00:56:58]

And history says that, like, how many teams have actually replaced coordinators off the Super bowl win.

[00:57:04]

I mean, not too many people go back to Super bowl even with the coordinators.

[00:57:07]

So that's another part of it, because we can compare it to 2018, where we were four and six at one point, got blown out by New Orleans, and we flipped the switch.

[00:57:15]

Yeah, lost to the Bucks in week two in Tampa.

[00:57:17]

Oh, the fucking firing the cannons off that fiberglass. Hottest game of all, Deshaun Jackson.

[00:57:25]

Go back inside, boys.

[00:57:28]

I want to give you guys a lot of credit, and we did on the pod because I meant this. I wasn't being a homer. It is incredible to get to where you guys got, say, around week eleven, like, the resolve, the leadership. You got people to the red zone, so to speak, the leadership on that team, the talent. But when you're replacing the coordinators, and I don't think every guy on that team was invested as some of the guys. And I'm talking about the 10th, 11th guy on respective side of the ball. Yeah, you have to depend on young guys, and you have to depend on depth. And our year, where we hit on depth, where it was, sprouls gets hurt, Peters gets hurt, guys get hurt. And the guys stepped up and played crucial roles that didn't happen this year. And so I felt bad for you because sometimes I'd look at the team and say after the Cardinals game and say, what the fuck? If I was in this locker room, and I'm not like, I'm not that self important to say, but if you're asking me, I'd be like, we don't have something to fucking play for here.

[00:58:29]

There's no sense of urgency. But I also know that scheme, when it's not going well, it can be like a never ending pit, and it's hard to get out of it. And if the young guys are guys off the street, you're not always going to win that situation that we won in 2017. I tip my cap to you guys for even getting to the point where it was a disappointment, but it sucked watching, because I felt for you and Lane and the guys that saw 2017 to then get to that point. Yeah.

[00:58:58]

I don't know if this is going to make much sense from an outsider's perspective. Obviously, we weren't in the locker room like you were. We don't know everything that's happening in the locker room, behind the scenes, things like that. But in 2017, there's to be said for, like, you just kind of manifest this energy where things go right for you. You know what I mean?

[00:59:16]

We had that for the first half of the year, we went ten to one.

[00:59:18]

A lot of then it was like it completely flipped. You know what I mean? It's like, what do we have to do to get this back? Everyone, I'm sure, was reaching, trying really hard.

[00:59:25]

I'm sure you're trying everything.

[00:59:26]

Practices were, I'm sure, emotional and intense at that point of year because everyone wants to figure out, what do I need to do to get this well.

[00:59:32]

You go back and forth. You try to be like, over were intense on one week, and then you lose again. You're like, okay, now maybe we need to do less and have energy.

[00:59:39]

We need to go full pad.

[00:59:41]

There's no shortcut. You just got to play well. Guys got to play well.

[00:59:44]

They got.

[00:59:47]

And there are personnel issues. I know they're all NFL players and they're teammates, but to be one of those teams, there can't be holes at linebacker. There can't be holes in the secondary. And as defensive player, I'm watching. I feel for the guys up front because the run fits. It's not all on them. It's everybody. And when one guy isn't doing their job, you know how it is.

[01:00:07]

Everything just seems so out of sync.

[01:00:09]

That's what it looked like defensively and offensively at the end of the year, for sure.

[01:00:12]

And then you look at the roster and you're like, how is this happening? There's so much talent on this team. It makes it even more frustrating, I'm sure for you guys.

[01:00:20]

What do you guys think of the new coaching changes that have been made?

[01:00:22]

I think it's excellent. I mean, we were talking about that. I love big fan jazz defenses.

[01:00:26]

You would fit in well.

[01:00:28]

Hey, those 72 tackles, bro, I'm unretiring. You heard it here first. New heights pod.

[01:00:35]

That's one of the most important things, having those big guys in the middle. It is like a gap and a half and all that stuff. And I really do think the fangio thing, it's not just about the scheme. He was in the building last year, and I'm not saying I know how much or how little he helped Nick or everybody else, but I know firsthand.

[01:00:52]

Stout and I would have conversation with Vic about red zone things like, what do you think the defense, how are they coached in this situation? I don't know. Those guys were supposed to say that, but we did.

[01:01:02]

Those guys can make or break years. It's like that guy that he's not burdened with having to call the plays or having, well, not that Nick was calling the plays, but having to do all the meetings and stuff. These guys got like an elevated vantage point. And he's a former head coach, and that's so valuable. So when you see people hiring, I always look, if it's a young guy, who do they bring in that can be kind of that assistant head coach because that's such an invisible, or just.

[01:01:27]

Offer the experience of that. Right?

[01:01:29]

Yeah.

[01:01:29]

There's situations. Look at Antonio Pierce. He's awesome this year, but he also would tell you he was learning on the job. There's all these situational football things that you're not thinking about that.

[01:01:40]

No question.

[01:01:41]

I think there's a lot to be excited about, man. For the Eagles going forward, do you get more? Yeah, great, mean.

[01:01:45]

More shots.

[01:01:46]

More shots, more run game. The motions are higher, more mean. What I remember from him in Dallas, because we played when you were still with Eagles. He was with Dallas, right? Or is that before.

[01:01:57]

Yeah, he was with Dallas.

[01:01:58]

Yeah.

[01:01:59]

I just remember him doing all sorts of creative. He's. He's. He mixes it up. He played at Boise, right?

[01:02:05]

Yeah.

[01:02:05]

And they were doing all sorts of crazy stuff at Boise.

[01:02:09]

I think you guys are more like the Dallas team than LA team. So I don't look at what he did in LA as some big, accurate sample size. I look at like, hey, that group you got, it's kind of like those really good Dallas offenses where it's like, you got a great offensive line, athletic quarterback, some weapons outside. I think it'd be. Guys, you should come back.

[01:02:28]

Yeah. Okay. Do you guys know anything about Clint?

[01:02:30]

Yeah. Okay, moving on.

[01:02:32]

Do you guys know anything about Clint hurt? I know he looks like he could play D line, dude, he looks.

[01:02:37]

He looks like. Plug him in at zero, bro.

[01:02:41]

Looks like he could bench press the.

[01:02:43]

Like, let me see him and Dom in board. Like, what's happening?

[01:02:48]

Pretty fun to watch.

[01:02:49]

I've heard good things, man.

[01:02:50]

That'd be a battle of titans, man. Sheesh. No, but he looks incredible, man. He looks like sick.

[01:02:55]

Coach, the pecs on that guy. Living on the pec deck.

[01:03:01]

If you were going to say anything to the young defensive lineman, especially, what would you guys say to the Eagles young defense?

[01:03:08]

Listen, I'm not saying shit to Jalen Carter, man. Hey, keep doing your.

[01:03:11]

He's impressive.

[01:03:13]

Unbelievable.

[01:03:13]

You're talking about a good hump move.

[01:03:15]

Seriously. Just the suddenness and the way he attacks inside moves and stuff like that is so fun to watch. He's a guy that I think it's really easy to be excited for him. Because he's so electric watching him play. I also love Milton Williams. I think he's going to be a free agent, maybe. I don't even know.

[01:03:34]

I like Milton Williams.

[01:03:35]

I think he's really, like, it's so hard to play that four technique.

[01:03:38]

Yeah.

[01:03:39]

With good technique and stay square. And I've been a big trying with him.

[01:03:42]

Milt's a third or fourth year guy.

[01:03:43]

He's a beast. I think he just finished his third year. Yeah.

[01:03:45]

So you still got one more year.

[01:03:48]

Hang in there on one hand. Hang in there. Because it wasn't all you guys this year. And I know sometimes it's like, well, you weren't getting home, but the very thing that helped you last year wasn't there. Like, it's better backing guys. But also, if you're Jalen Carter, fucking take advantage of this opportunity to be a hall of fame talent in Philadelphia for more than a.

[01:04:09]

Like, the talent's there.

[01:04:11]

Yeah, bro. I love watching him play. And you know what it was, is the Tampa game. It was a checkdown. And he sprints out of stack and just decapitates the crosser.

[01:04:22]

Yes.

[01:04:22]

And that's the shit. Once you show me that, I want it all the. He's just. I hope he's pouring everything into this opportunity, because I think he can be mentioned among the greatest players to have played in that uniform, and that's not hyperbolic.

[01:04:40]

No, I completely agree. The talent, the skill set, all of that is there.

[01:04:45]

Learn from the older guys in the room, too.

[01:04:47]

I mean, west did a great job.

[01:04:49]

All joking aside, like, you were great to me. And I was a rookie, man. I was a fucking nose guard swimming, no idea what's going on. And Kelse would stay after work technique stuff with me, and we had very detailed conversations about the minutiae of inside line. Like, look at the guys. You got sweaty j. You got Fletcher Cox, you got Brandon Graham, like, some unbelievable room. And just do everything you can to soak up anything you can from, like.

[01:05:13]

You never know how long these guys play. So if you're a rookie and you've got a vet, like. Like, fucking don't wait till next year to be his friend. And I'm not talking about kiss his ass, but watch this guy. You want to learn something from somebody? I had a vet, James hall, who was, like, terrific, great player, played on shitty teams, wouldn't talk to me for six months because it was unfair. I was cutting in his reps, and I wasn't ready to start over him. It's like a high draft pick thing. And he understandably did not like me in the beginning. True, but I was learning from him. I was going to fucking get something out of James hall, whether he was talking to me or not. I would just shadow the motherfucker, and so I would just use those vets. And also, you get to play on third down at the link. Just understand that it is not like that everywhere.

[01:05:56]

Some guys are grinding first and second down.

[01:05:59]

All what I mean is first and second. Now the link, like, you get to run through the tunnel at the link and put that helmet on, man. Like, I waited my whole career to play somewhere exactly like that. And these guys, they don't realize what they have. And so I'm not saying our group, Phillies group, but what I am saying is, like, if you need a reminder, it ain't like that everywhere else. So you should fight and scratch and claw to be a part of this thing the next 510 years, because it's fucking. You could be Jason, Kelsey. Look at the way they love Jason and Lane and those guys. You could be those guys.

[01:06:28]

Chris, we share something in common. We both have a brother in the league or shared a brother in the league. What was that experience like playing the league with Chris?

[01:06:39]

Yeah, I did have, like, split personality playing the league with Chris, but kyle's always been like my baby. Like, I'm the oldest, and we've talked about this before, but I always feel responsible for him. And then one day, he was way bigger than me, and it was like he could protect me, kind of when I walk around with him, like Super bowl week or somewhere, I'm like. I basically have, like, a giant russian bodyguard at my disposal. It's awesome on set, too, the whole thing. But when he got in the league, it was like everything he was going through. I just felt like a parent for the first because I know exactly what he's going through. My dad's sweating bullets watching us play every week. I remember one time he came to play us in St. Louis, and I'm talking about the offseason before, when he was a rookie. We took him out to Vegas with my d line and got really fucked up at one of these beach parties. I got carried out that day by cock fireman.

[01:07:35]

Carried.

[01:07:36]

He didn't have so much, you know, we were all tight, and then the very. And William Hayes, who sellick hates, one.

[01:07:45]

Of my best friends on the d.

[01:07:46]

Line in St. Louis was just getting on Kyle. Getting on Kyle. And one play, he just snaps. And the absolute gorilla in Kyle comes out and he's like king Kong and will behind the play after the play, and he's punching him and he's getting ready to wind up and kick him, and I'm sprinting off the sideline. You've seen the footage of me trying to grab this big son bitch, and he's so big and strong. I go to grab him and he jerks out of it. And his jersey, I got a piece of his jersey in my hand. The jersey comes off and I'm thinking for sure he's going to get ejected. But everybody on the outside to bring it back to you and Travis, they think it's so cute. It's always so cute. And it's all fun and games, but for parents to watch their two kids play a football game, and that was a meaningless game in St. Louis. But it was the worst week of my life as a pro football player. And my parents lives because they're just so fucking stressed and they know the.

[01:08:44]

Pressure that's in your guys'dynamic is different, though, because you literally play each other. And for you, Travis and I, like, if both offenses do well, our parents are actually. They're fine. Yes, but they bet the guys. How many times did you actually pass rush Kyle?

[01:09:03]

In the very, very rarely. One time in open practice, though, when he came up to New England, I came inside on a stunt and said, guard, most people don't understand we're not going to be battling all games.

[01:09:13]

Did you get him?

[01:09:15]

Oh, I got him. So I cross his face, beat him clean. This big son of it whips his arm around like a helicopter to try just anything.

[01:09:25]

Reverse body block, just like.

[01:09:26]

And he fucking ice picks me in the ribs. Fractured my rib. He fractured my rib.

[01:09:32]

So you got him, but he got you?

[01:09:34]

Yes. It wasn't worth getting him because the next month and a half, like, when I was shifting around in chat, I was like, this motherfucker, even if you beat Kyle, you don't beat Kyle.

[01:09:47]

Bill Belichick. Yeah, it's a good segues I got going here. You both spend time in New England. I'm still shocked he's not a head coach. Yeah, I know. Older, but you would think that a team. To me, the perfect match was the Chargers. They have a good quarterback. We've seen what he can do with.

[01:10:13]

A fun to see him in Seattle.

[01:10:14]

Personally, but I thought he was going to be Atlanta.

[01:10:16]

Yeah.

[01:10:17]

And then I also think Raheem did a great job this year. So I'm super psyched he got that job, but I thought Atlanta would have the ownership group and the structure in personnel that might work where the GM's not like somebody that's going to butt heads with him at all. And then they got a president, right? And then they have an owner. And I think he respects Arthur Blank and his name was hot there. I just thought the Chargers were looking to not fix Justin because I think he's damn good. He's just trying to be here and he's. And like, I just wouldn't miss this chance to give him a quarterback guy that's improved.

[01:10:55]

But to me, the offense wasn't that big. Like, what are the offensive stats for the Chargers from last year?

[01:10:59]

Was that the issue in crunch time? They lost a lot of one score games and situational football and that sort of thing. And I think you can get the.

[01:11:06]

Jim's are still situational ball.

[01:11:08]

Yeah, but Jim's the rare guy that can.

[01:11:11]

Don't get me wrong, I think Jim's.

[01:11:13]

This is not.

[01:11:14]

I'm just telling you why I thought Jim was a great hire. Got you. Because he's such a good culture setter, which is usually a defensive coach, but he's also that offensive whiz. When he came to San Francisco in 2000 and whatever it was. Yeah, it was the lockout year. It was 2010. Do you know how incredible it is? They went from this underachieving team to 13 and three in a short season. They had the best with Alex Smith.

[01:11:38]

Yeah, but time out, they had the best front seven, possibly.

[01:11:42]

They had them last year.

[01:11:44]

Yeah. I don't think that the offense is what got them.

[01:11:50]

Oh, San Francisco.

[01:11:51]

Yeah.

[01:11:51]

No, but that group was like, they're running.

[01:11:53]

They were good. I'm not knocking them. I'm not knocking them. But that front seven in that defense was fucking insane. Yeah, but, like, they also.

[01:12:02]

It was ridiculous. Frank Gore. And they were good.

[01:12:09]

They were just good.

[01:12:09]

They were just good.

[01:12:10]

They were unbelievable. In the trenches on both sides of them.

[01:12:12]

They were unbelievable. Justin Smith, you do not fuck with guys that have tiny. Just like, it looks like he got it in prison.

[01:12:21]

He's my hero.

[01:12:22]

He was my idol, bro. He was my idol. I remember trading jerseys with him, and it was a total, like, fan proposition.

[01:12:28]

It was unreal watching him remember that.

[01:12:30]

Like, pull text he used to run.

[01:12:32]

Oh, yeah. Him and Alden Smith. Illegal as fuck. It was the old tush push, but more unfair. Time out.

[01:12:39]

Tushbush is completely.

[01:12:41]

Fuck the tush.

[01:12:42]

What is your thought? Yeah, let's get this.

[01:12:45]

Okay.

[01:12:46]

Tush push.

[01:12:47]

Is it a dirty place?

[01:12:48]

This is my roman empire.

[01:12:49]

No.

[01:12:49]

And I've been wanting to say this.

[01:12:51]

It's your roman empire.

[01:12:52]

About the tush push. Fuck the tush. Fucking bullshit. Fuck that.

[01:12:58]

Why is it bullshit, bro?

[01:13:00]

There's nothing you can do as a nose guard to stop it.

[01:13:02]

I mean.

[01:13:04]

Hold on.

[01:13:05]

Other teams tried to run it this year.

[01:13:06]

Yeah.

[01:13:07]

And they didn't.

[01:13:08]

They stopped it and they got hurt.

[01:13:10]

Like, dudes on offense got hurt on the other teams.

[01:13:12]

Yeah. I mean, you guys run it so well, but the counters that you have off of it, the strength of. You got some big ass motherfuckers inside. You do such a great job of getting so low, but also, you know, the snap count and you just get off. So know, sometimes you even take the ball and move it up a little bit.

[01:13:31]

What are you talking about?

[01:13:31]

Yeah, I've been seeing that shit for years.

[01:13:33]

First time I got called this year.

[01:13:34]

Dude, I have seen that. I'm a nose guard, bro.

[01:13:36]

They've been warning me for three years.

[01:13:38]

Years. I'm like, Kelsey was up to his old tricks again.

[01:13:41]

Was that buffalo? No, it was Seattle. And we ended up losing have.

[01:13:46]

It was a really bad safety help. Little safety help. Maybe we're off the field for sure.

[01:13:51]

But, yeah, it was not good.

[01:13:54]

We probably was calling you. You're off hands, too.

[01:13:58]

Yeah. They were doing everything they could to try and shift some of the balance back to the defense, but, yeah, I love it.

[01:14:07]

What are you saying? As a nose.

[01:14:08]

As a nose guard, what's the way to stop the tushbush?

[01:14:11]

Dude, I think you need to just reverse engineer it, man. But then the problem.

[01:14:13]

Reverse engineer it.

[01:14:14]

Need to anti tush push. I think I talked about this.

[01:14:18]

Food poisoning. Food poison the offensive line. That's the only chance. Invite them all to a steakhouse and fucking and have them like, dumb and dumb.

[01:14:26]

Two egg app players underneath and a linebacker screaming down their back.

[01:14:29]

So you're gapping it out. Six one.

[01:14:31]

And then you just. Guys are just going to run the counter, obviously.

[01:14:34]

Yeah.

[01:14:34]

It's like a goal line defense.

[01:14:36]

You can do that. That's definitely.

[01:14:37]

You need to just cheat the shit out of the count and just try to get off the ball with your life.

[01:14:41]

Do you think you figured out the push push?

[01:14:42]

Am I wrong?

[01:14:46]

I don't know that I want to release it.

[01:14:47]

Yeah, that's it. He's not going to tell you.

[01:14:49]

Blink twice.

[01:14:52]

I think if you can try and get everybody singled up and you can win the leverage at the point of attack, that's your best hope. But it's hard to do that and, like, you said be able to defend all the counters.

[01:15:09]

I respect the hell out of it, man. On one hand, I love it because it's such a sassy play.

[01:15:18]

For you.

[01:15:19]

Guys, but the nose guard in me, you know that if I was playing.

[01:15:22]

You guys, it's a terrible play for the nose guard.

[01:15:24]

Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you. But bottom of the pile, just, like, trying to figure out if you got the first down or not. As a nose guard, you got to hate it.

[01:15:31]

I think. Mental edge, though.

[01:15:33]

Do you think the linebackers should push you?

[01:15:36]

I think you kind of need to do, like, maybe you, because you guys run it multiple times in games. So, like, the first one.

[01:15:42]

Yeah, they do try it out. Then the second one, feign it and.

[01:15:47]

Scrape over for the counter.

[01:15:48]

How about that? All right.

[01:15:49]

If you get seven yards on first down, I'm like, fuck, we might see the touch push, even if we're successful here. That's like a whole mind fuck thing. Yeah, we ran, like, once you guys ran it successfully in a single game, it was like knocking the biggest guy out in prison the first day, it was like everybody else. The guys are like, fuck, we actually can't stop these.

[01:16:09]

I love when you guys would run it at home and the link, everyone would be going crazy, and it's like fourth down in a critical moment. You're like, can you guys shut up, please?

[01:16:16]

Yeah, exactly.

[01:16:17]

But everyone loves it.

[01:16:19]

Well, and that's the one thing with it, I guess one of the things knocks against it is people say it's not an exciting play, but when you're at the stadium, it is the most exciting play for the fan. Everybody is like, this is. We're about to fucking see.

[01:16:33]

I wonder what they're going to do here.

[01:16:36]

It's like seeing Justin Bieber for a middle aged fucking. Like Billy dudes, man.

[01:16:45]

They're doing it.

[01:16:45]

We'll always remember this year, though, it'll be the tush push year, dude. Not going to remember the end of the year. Remember tush push.

[01:16:51]

Let's move on to post career retirement.

[01:16:54]

Yeah, let's talk retirement calls.

[01:16:55]

Yeah.

[01:16:56]

Just for YouTube. Chris, you retired in 2019. You officially retired in 2022. What's it been like since hanging it up? How is it different?

[01:17:10]

Shall I. It is different, man, because it just feels like it's a little boring, Kelse.

[01:17:15]

Okay.

[01:17:16]

You don't have the intensity of football, and that's something that's been a little bit of an adjustment every day. You know how it is. It's such a physically intense, competitive sport, and you always feel like you have to get ready for camp, you have to get ready for otas, you have to get ready for practice the next day, the game this week, things like that, and you don't necessarily have that. The other thing about football is your failures and successes are measured in such a black and white way, and that's something you get so accustomed to as a player, and it's not like that in the real world. We talked about that a little bit this morning, so that's a big thing. But for me, I'm just trying to live and spend as much time with friends and family, catch up on, travel, and hang out with you guys at the Super bowl and do stuff like that that you can't do when you're playing because you're so committed to training and getting your body right and things like that. And that's what's been fun for me, is to just kind of do things in a completely different way, live my life in a way that I was never able to live when I was playing and then lose a lot of weight.

[01:18:17]

I was 335 pounds up until a couple of years ago.

[01:18:20]

What are you now?

[01:18:21]

What's that?

[01:18:21]

What are you today?

[01:18:23]

Probably 278.

[01:18:24]

Wow.

[01:18:25]

Yeah.

[01:18:26]

Carries a woe.

[01:18:27]

Yeah. But, I mean, I'm sure whenever you decide to retire, Kels, you lose that weight. You have so much more energy, man. And it's nice to not feel so fucking bad and sweaty and sloppy all.

[01:18:38]

The time, but then you get old, which hasn't happened to you. Youth is a state of mind, Chris, right around now.

[01:18:44]

Youth is a state of mind, brother.

[01:18:45]

Yeah, it's challenging, but it's fun.

[01:18:49]

I mean, that's why I love doing the pod with Chris and greenlight and facts and the king is just an excuse to hang out with your boys and talk about football, man. And that's what you miss the most. You talk to any guy that's retired and ask them what they miss about the game. If they don't, say the guys in the locker room like they're a fucking phony. That's how I feel about it.

[01:19:07]

I love it.

[01:19:07]

I was going to have a different answer than the guys. No, I do actually miss you all, man. And I think more, Nathan. It's like you can get in a big room full of people and fill your cup socially, but we're different in a, like, we just are. And I think that's the hardest thing. You can go to work some awesome place, but there's no. Yeah, there's no jason, there's no just. We're just different for all our shortcomings and ways that all our wives and significant others and fucking friends get drunk, Chris. They get frustrated with us because the things we misplace or whatever, but we also have really specific mindsets and we are high achievers. We're meatheads and the whole thing. So you get in certain situations and you're like, damn, it is the locker room. But it's also the absence of my kind of guy. And I also think it's a huge existential crisis, man. Whether you think you're ready or not, your life changes. And, yeah, you've been given a routine for. You feel like the guy in Shawshank who's at the grocery store. It's like, I've been thinking about the grocery store for fucking eleven years, and the grocery store sucks.

[01:20:21]

Yeah, no, I'm not doing the Brooks thing because I left the grocery store.

[01:20:26]

Yes.

[01:20:27]

And continued on my way. But you okay, Chris?

[01:20:30]

You're good.

[01:20:30]

No, but you miss the hard stuff, dude. You need the hard stuff. You need to be challenged. And fucking life, it's not as hard. And I think that's where guys struggle is like, you got to do shit like killer. You got to fucking get out and challenge yourself every once in a while. That's the thing. I miss the guys. And it's like the feedback loop. For you or for me, it was like the challenge every day of, like, this is real. It's hard to find that shit. So good luck.

[01:21:01]

All right, let's move on to something lighter. We got to ask. That's our segment. We got to ask. But you don't have to answer. Feel free to answer if you so choose. All right, we like to ask all of our guests what their welcome to the NFL moment. Chris, starting with you, is there a specific moment you can point to?

[01:21:20]

Yeah, I was really hyped about getting drafted and all that, and then I got in the elevator at Radio City music hall, and there were two huge dudes in there.

[01:21:28]

Who were they?

[01:21:28]

And they were guys on the rams. And I was like, hey, guys. And they were like, get ready to get to work. Oh, wow.

[01:21:35]

Nice.

[01:21:35]

At that point, I was like, okay, this is different. I think it was like, probably my first preseason game, and just the only way I can liken it to was like, standing on a highway and the cars are whipping by you and you're just like, I don't know where anything's going. Where's the ball? It's just the offenses are so fast going to play Philly. My first game ever was in Philly at the link. We got fucking beat, like 34 to three. It was Trey Thomas, John Runyon, Westbrook McNab. I should remember the noise, bro. Yeah, it was like every play was a deep. Oh, it was Stephen Jackson getting lit up by Shepard Lido Shepherd Lido. Shepard knocked his helmet in the air. I've been staring at Stephen Jackson all camp, like, who hits this guy?

[01:22:19]

He's enormous.

[01:22:20]

Not me. And then the first time he gets out in the open field in my pro career, I see him just get decapitated. I'm like, holy shit. Yeah, the whole thing.

[01:22:30]

I'm trying to think. I remember I got drafted. I was a 7th round pick. I was, like, low key, kind of surprised to get drafted. So I was, like, pumped. And I celebrate a little bit with the family at the house. It was a stressful day for me. And get a call from a two one five area code, and it's, hey, this is Chip Kelly. Decided to draft you. Talk to Chip, coach, as at the time, because see, to have a couple of drinks, get a phone call. 10 minutes later, it's James Harris, who is Chip's, like, right hand man at the time. He's like, hey, bro, this is James Harris.

[01:23:02]

Blah, blah.

[01:23:03]

We're going to need you to go through your social media and delete this. This. Delete this photo.

[01:23:06]

I remember this.

[01:23:07]

Delete this.

[01:23:08]

You had a very.

[01:23:09]

There's a shirtless photo of you on a dock.

[01:23:11]

You had a sexual photo.

[01:23:13]

We need you to delete that. I was like, oh, okay.

[01:23:15]

So you weren't saying bad things?

[01:23:17]

No, I was just. Let's make that clear myself. It wasn't anything, know, inappropriate.

[01:23:21]

It was just me, like a Geronimo. Allison, tweet.

[01:23:25]

You still have that photo? Can we have it so we can.

[01:23:27]

Put it in this? Tell the boys to look it up. It's just me on a shirtless, my hair down, like, with a sunset in the background.

[01:23:34]

Wasn't there, like, a pose of you on, like, a bed with.

[01:23:36]

I don't know. You're talking about.

[01:23:40]

Mike Hanson.

[01:23:43]

So that was the first one. I was like, oh, this is a serious business. You better lock it in. I didn't even go on social media for that whole thing. But then from a football standpoint, we get in for rookie minicamp, and it's, like, not full rosters. You know how they bring local guys in. And I don't even know how many people we had out there for rookie minicamp, but it was Chip's offense. Right. And we didn't have, like, three full defenses. I bet you I took.

[01:24:17]

No huddle. Snap.

[01:24:18]

No huddle. Chip Kelly offense. I remember walking out of the field being like, buddy, you better get on a fucking elliptical, man. It was serious. So I think that was probably mine, man. Just, like, the speed and how fast the chip was running those plays wasn't something that I'd really experienced at that point.

[01:24:35]

We've asked this before. What's harder, NFL player or podcaster? The different.

[01:24:43]

If you couldn't get injured, football's easier. Yeah, but football, it's like you're always dealing with something, so it's hard to even know what you're going to feel like. Day to day podcasting is fucking kind of hard. Yeah, it can be hard.

[01:24:59]

Yeah. I think it is. I don't know. It's hard in a different way. It's not hard, like a growing way.

[01:25:04]

It's harder. There's no stats. Well, there are stats. Like, you guys are killing it. But you also care. I care if people like your show. I would rather people love my show and do, like, medium numbers than. And you're doing both because you're hitting out of the park and people really like your stuff because you're authentic. But there are shortcuts. I don't want to take those. Podcasting is hard because you don't know if people like your shit. You can get on Twitter, and the most angry people are going to tweet at you, and the biggest fans are going to tweet at you, but you get the extremes. What do people that respect you think you're opening your mouth like, I don't want to do this all the time. I can be really quiet sometimes in this situation. It can be unnatural. So I think it's just like when we played. You made a play, everybody cheered when you played. You could look at the stat sheet or the film and be like, objectively, I played well. The hard part is there's no answer. Could I be better? Could I do this differently? I don't know.

[01:26:01]

There's no audience, right? They're all invisible. They're not here.

[01:26:06]

They're not real. Yeah. I'm having a hard time.

[01:26:13]

Hard.

[01:26:14]

Brevity is the soul of wit, Chris.

[01:26:15]

The soul of wit.

[01:26:16]

Brevity is the soul of wit, baby. Short and sweet.

[01:26:18]

The soul.

[01:26:19]

Yeah.

[01:26:19]

Is it?

[01:26:20]

Yeah.

[01:26:20]

Is that what they said?

[01:26:21]

That's a shakespearean quote.

[01:26:22]

Okay.

[01:26:23]

I've recently referred to Minnesota Bow as the whitest place on earth.

[01:26:28]

We're going to sit here and talk shit about my beautiful super bowl in.

[01:26:33]

I'm giving you a chance to. Was that an accurate statement?

[01:26:36]

I remember when we played in the.

[01:26:37]

Super Bowl, I made this statement.

[01:26:39]

All you could talk about was like, oh, you're from a place where the most well known thing is a mall. It's so cool. And then I remember being like, kelsey, you're going to love it, man. It's beautiful. So many great lakes, nature. And then we show up, and it's negative ten degrees outside. You're like, yeah, fuck this place.

[01:26:57]

Yeah.

[01:26:58]

So what do you ask me about Minnesota Kells?

[01:27:00]

Like, the white?

[01:27:02]

Is it white?

[01:27:03]

Yes.

[01:27:08]

Chris, you were drafted by the St. Louis Rams, second overall. Bo, you were drafted by the Eagles in 7th round. Did either of you almost go to another.

[01:27:19]

You?

[01:27:20]

Yeah. Well, it's weird, man, because when you get to the later, like, I was fielding calls about being a free agent.

[01:27:27]

Yeah.

[01:27:27]

So I was on the phone with Harbaugh from Baltimore. He's like, hey, we really want you. I promise you, you're going to be on the roster. I'm like, okay. And then, hey, I got to go. I'm getting a two one five area code call. So I remember that. But also, I think I learned later in my career that the Seahawks really wanted to draft me and convert me to offensive.

[01:27:49]

Do. You would have been a great guard.

[01:27:51]

Incredible guard.

[01:27:52]

You're a great nose guard, too.

[01:27:54]

Think about it in an alternate reality somewhere. I'm out there still playing. Playing right guard, baby.

[01:27:59]

Jeff Stoutland, salivating. Thinking about this right now.

[01:28:02]

Stout, I'd play for you. If you're watching this. Stout, I know you're a big fan of the pod. I would play right guard for you.

[01:28:08]

Who loves stout?

[01:28:09]

What about you? See, I don't know.

[01:28:11]

It could have been somebody else, I guess. I mean, the night before, I got a call, like, we were out partying, and somebody pulls me in a bathroom stall, and they're like, scott, Lenny. And I'm like, he's like, never mind. No, he really did. He gastred me and couldn't believe then, you know, it could have been like. It was like the jets and the Raiders. And they were know because dad played for the Raiders. So if I'd fell a little bit, could have been Kansas City. Kansas City was right behind me. They took, like, Dorsey. Like, there were a lot of teams in there, could have gone a lot of different ways. But it is kind of weird being towards the top because you're like, it's only so many teams, right? It kind of takes some of the fun out of it. I hate to say that.

[01:28:53]

Well, yeah, there's less factors of it shaking out beforehand.

[01:28:56]

You know the team is going to be bad. Like if you get picked in the top five teams, going to be bad. Yeah. So I always had a pretty realistic idea, but getting in the elevator with those guys was a real eye opener. They were not in a good mood. I was like, oh, great, go to a place where everybody's perfect and hates me.

[01:29:14]

Best bar in Philly.

[01:29:17]

Oh, man, where do we even start?

[01:29:18]

You already mentioned Buffalo.

[01:29:19]

I love buffalo billies, man, because you live right there. Selleck had his restaurant right there and we just go over and abuse him.

[01:29:26]

Buffalo billies.

[01:29:28]

I love buffalo billies.

[01:29:29]

That's the place we used to go after games. Yeah.

[01:29:32]

Chris and I tried to go out in Philly.

[01:29:35]

That bar? No, the bar from New Year's.

[01:29:37]

We're not going to give much. Yeah.

[01:29:39]

Which one?

[01:29:39]

Tavern on broad.

[01:29:40]

Tavern on clothes.

[01:29:41]

Now, I thought he bowed me.

[01:29:44]

Basically grace was underage at the time and really want to go after a game and it's New Year's Eve and I was like, all right, we're going to go to underager bar.

[01:29:53]

Chris.

[01:29:54]

I got like a table, like 34 year old me.

[01:29:56]

I was there. Old Meg Tavern brought your whole family was in that little vip section. It was like up in the back, which I didn't even know there was like a little up section there.

[01:30:05]

Kelsey smart, he walked in and turned right back around.

[01:30:07]

Yeah, I'm out of here.

[01:30:10]

The Simpson, I was like, puts his.

[01:30:12]

Hat down, turns back around, moved in. It was terrible. I mean, so funny. It's not the bar. Nothing against the bar and nothing against the people. But I'm 33.

[01:30:20]

I love there, too.

[01:30:22]

I'm a big new year's guy, dude. I really am. I love it, bro.

[01:30:26]

You rang in the new year with the Allen family.

[01:30:27]

I know, but I also rang it.

[01:30:28]

In with a bunch of people on, like, TikTok and with like, gigapat. Yeah, I tricked 17.

[01:30:35]

I'm sorry. Here's a public apology. I'm sorry. That was funny, though.

[01:30:38]

Yeah, well, it doesn't do me any good now. Can't get that New Year's back. Legendary.

[01:30:44]

Chris was like, did you know it was going to be like that? I was.

[01:30:46]

No, it's not like this.

[01:30:49]

Every single time we go.

[01:30:50]

No idea.

[01:30:52]

Meg was getting ready to fight like five year olds.

[01:30:58]

Chris, dude, it was so funny, man.

[01:31:01]

Oh, God.

[01:31:03]

What are your guys honest thoughts on the new heights? Golden baby.

[01:31:07]

It's fucking weird.

[01:31:08]

No, I like the gold. It's my favorite branding thing you've done. I think the branding on the show is great. The merch, the fucking. The font, the colors. Nice green lights, by the way.

[01:31:22]

Yay.

[01:31:26]

And then I just think the baby is a great touch.

[01:31:29]

The baby's a bit much. This is how I know you're surrounded by yes men. Okay.

[01:31:33]

Yeah.

[01:31:33]

Like, hey, guys, I got this fucking great idea. We're going to get this massive 200 pound baby.

[01:31:38]

Everyone's just like, another differing opinion.

[01:31:41]

I think somebody needs to tell you the baby's fucking weird, dude.

[01:31:43]

I know it's weird. You're not telling me anything. I don't know.

[01:31:46]

I'm going to win that.

[01:31:47]

I like weird.

[01:31:47]

I'm going to win that baby.

[01:31:48]

But see how bad you want it because it's weird.

[01:31:50]

I'm going to fucking.

[01:31:51]

If it was just a regular trophy, would you want it that much.

[01:31:57]

If that baby's at a bar? And then you walk into the bar and the baby's behind the bar, you're like, I'm staying here.

[01:32:04]

It's like a weird, babylonian false idol.

[01:32:06]

No, it looks like.

[01:32:08]

Don't get it.

[01:32:09]

A midwestern kid that was just too big.

[01:32:12]

Look into the baby's eyes. It's like the Mona Lisa. Anywhere you're at in the room, you're really overanalyzing. Telus unveiled the baby to me a couple of weeks ago when I was in Philly for the game against the Cardinals.

[01:32:27]

And, yeah, that baby's like a grown man, dude.

[01:32:32]

Can you explain the, like, so you.

[01:32:34]

Win the baby at honestly, we're still trying to figure it out.

[01:32:38]

So you don't win the baby.

[01:32:40]

That baby will.

[01:32:41]

I want the baby.

[01:32:42]

We are thinking about having a miniature version of, like, a baby. It's like eight to twelve inches. Eight to twelve inch baby that's in the same form of that. And the cup, instead of being 32oz, will be a shot glass. But that baby will live in perpetuity. Everybody who wins a competition or that that baby represents, you'll be able to sign the baby.

[01:33:03]

Let's win the baby.

[01:33:03]

Let's do it, dude.

[01:33:06]

That'll get you a baby.

[01:33:07]

I think we still do it. I out drank him in Montana. He didn't come out of his trailer the next day till 06:00 p.m.. Wow. Yeah, it took him through the ringer. Old man still got.

[01:33:20]

Chris was on his home turf. He had electrolytes, he had. His beautiful wife took care of him.

[01:33:25]

Bo had his heat.

[01:33:25]

I was in a goddamn airstream trailer. How about how you out drank it?

[01:33:29]

I got locked out of the thing, too.

[01:33:32]

He's mad I did that.

[01:33:39]

What's your favorite story from your time with the Eagles? Do you have one?

[01:33:44]

I have a good one now.

[01:33:47]

Obviously, can't say. Just like, winning the Super bowl.

[01:33:49]

It's got to be no. I mean, I'll never.

[01:33:50]

What if somebody gave you that fucking.

[01:33:52]

Answer, winning the Super bowl?

[01:33:54]

No.

[01:33:54]

I mean, this was actually a really cool. Can I be fucking serious for. Go ahead, bro. Go heart.

[01:34:00]

Okay, so it's not a funny story.

[01:34:01]

No, it's not.

[01:34:02]

No, but how much pressure we took off the story by joking, but go ahead.

[01:34:06]

Good work, dude. Go. What the fuck was I talking about?

[01:34:09]

You were going to deliver a really heartfelt no.

[01:34:11]

So in shit. Doug and Jim's first year, Benny went down against the Redskins at the time, the commanders. So it was my first time I got to play a very significant role, and this was at FedEx in Washington. And you're nervous? It was the first time I was playing very significant snaps, and I was like, I'm just going to do everything I can to just play as hard as I can, run as hard as I can to the ball, just try to be as physical as I can, shut my brain off, and just give as much effort as, you know, white d line. And I remember, just like, this is a good way to just kind know, get back to the I. And I tried really hard to do that. And I remember Brian Dawkins came up to me in the hallways of the Nova care and commented on how hard I played.

[01:35:02]

That's awesome.

[01:35:03]

He's like, that was a really cool thing. Don't ever change that. And so I never did. It was like a core memory for me.

[01:35:08]

That's awesome.

[01:35:09]

Vdawk for him to notice that, like a legendary. That feels like, hey, man, you were, like, running your ass off to the ball. Don't ever change that. I was like, yes, sir.

[01:35:19]

If he sat at your breakfast table, because you used to just hang out.

[01:35:21]

Yeah.

[01:35:22]

If he sat at your breakfast table, you were ready to go tattoo. Terry Tate, the next person you saw in the hallway, it's like 09:00 a.m.

[01:35:28]

He would just stare into your soul, bro.

[01:35:30]

There was no lion to be, dog. Be crazy to play with him. My favorite, I guess the first thing that popped up in my head was, and it wasn't Super bowl year, but it was the year after. And I think that year is special, because, again, it's hard. We're four and six and the whole thing. And, yeah, we came up short, but I can remember having to win that game in Washington. And then we needed something to happen, and so we went in the locker room and we won the game. And we went in the locker room and we were all crowded in Doug's office watching Minnesota and Chicago.

[01:36:01]

Was it Chicago?

[01:36:02]

I don't know, but it was Minnesota, definitely. And it was like eight, nine of us. A lot of us were older. You don't get these memories a lot anymore. And I just knew sitting in there watching, I'm like, this could be the last time you get to do something like this. And sure enough, it was two weeks later, but the ball dropped our. Yep. And if that didn't happen, we don't go double know even the. It was. It was a terrible loss, but just. I was glad we got there.

[01:36:30]

We got there and, I mean, we had a chance to win. It mean, we played New Orleans earlier in that year and just got spanked. And that was a reverse from the Super bowl year before the defense killed it, that game. Yeah, against Drew Brees. It was a phenomenal performance.

[01:36:47]

What about you, Kelsey?

[01:36:48]

What's my favorite memory as an eagle? I think my favorite memory. Man, this is fucking difficult.

[01:36:56]

Yeah. See? No fun when the Rabbits got the gun. I feel like, dig deep, buddy.

[01:37:02]

I think the ones that really are the most jarring are your first days in the NFL. And I will say this, and I still think it. I will never forget the first time I saw Jason Peters do a one on one pass. Like, I don't know if I fucking play in this league type. Like, it was that impressive at how big he was and how balanced and how athletic it was. That's definitely one of them. My favorite moment, it might be tavern on broad, that New Year's Eve.

[01:37:39]

Not the one.

[01:37:43]

Not the one that I was there. Yes. I'll say this because it was a great memory. Going to buffalo bills, me and my wife, and passing out after getting drunk with a bunch of my teammates.

[01:38:00]

That holiday party was fun, too.

[01:38:01]

It was a great holiday party. Yeah, it was a rough year.

[01:38:05]

But the thing is, some of the stuff, like, some of your favorite memories is crazy. It's just like random shit around the locker room.

[01:38:11]

Playing little stuff in the back of.

[01:38:12]

The locker room back there with Nick.

[01:38:13]

It's really not football related.

[01:38:15]

Yeah, that's all. We're like, seeing JP roll up in his conversion van.

[01:38:19]

Dude, this is. I can't even say this. JP has so many. He's just iconic.

[01:38:25]

And he was so cool. Yeah, he would, like, take care of the younger guys, man. I've been around some hall of famers and great players and guys that thought they were hall of Famers and they weren't, and they just don't help people serve them, and some of them do, and it's, like, fucking awesome to see. And Jason was always willing to help.

[01:38:43]

Guys and, like, anybody.

[01:38:45]

Anybody.

[01:38:46]

Fucking hilarious, JP story, dude. So, like, I used to wear these lululemon headbands all the time, these lululemon headbands. And Emily actually was the one that ordered them for me. And I remember walking the locker room one day. JP goes, hey, I like that headband. That's cool. I was like, yeah, thanks, bro. Just pump anytime. He spoke to you about something, like, you're pumped. He's like, let me get ten of those. I'm like, what? He's like, yeah, can you bring me ten of those? And I'm like, yeah, I got you, bro. So I run to Lululemon after practice, try to get fucking ten of these black headbands, clean them out. There's like seven. Go to a different lululemon, get three more. I'm really proud of myself as I come back the next day, I got all these Lululemon headbands from. I gave them to him. I was like, here, bro. Like, I got these for you, man. He's like, all right, thanks. And I never saw him wore one. He never wore one time. I just want to be like, yo, can I get those back? Never wore them one time.

[01:39:42]

That's a griddle. He's still wearing them.

[01:39:44]

Just wears them to.

[01:39:44]

Still playing football, dude.

[01:39:46]

Incredible.

[01:39:46]

How crazy is that, bro?

[01:39:48]

Every time I turn our game, I'm like, oh, my God, Jason's still doing it. It's insane.

[01:39:51]

He played against us this year.

[01:39:52]

Did play that position at 42.

[01:39:54]

Incredible, man.

[01:39:55]

Is he 42 or 40? Yeah, 41 or 42, whatever it is.

[01:39:59]

Yeah.

[01:39:59]

Still wild.

[01:40:01]

Prostate checks. Still playing the NFL.

[01:40:03]

All right, that's it, guys. Sorry.

[01:40:07]

We did it.

[01:40:08]

Thanks for coming on. Long overdue.

[01:40:12]

We love you.

[01:40:12]

I had so many laughs, and I love you guys.

[01:40:16]

We love you.

[01:40:16]

Love you, bud.
