[00:00:20]

[00:01:06]

Come on down.

[00:01:07]

April 11, Cincinnati, Ohio. Man, had to go bearcat.com new heights right now and purchase your ticket. We can't wait to get around the city, around the, our old stopping grounds and have some fun with the, the players out there and everybody in the Cincinnati area, man. We're gonna have some real special surprises, a lot of guests that hopefully everybody in Cincinnati can get fired up for. We'll keep you up to date on that. And before that, the first ever great Lumbaby games are going to be going down on the same day. Just before we get into all the interviews and the guests. And we cannot wait to see you guys duke it out for the first ever golden Lumbaby trophy. I'm still getting used to this nonsense Jason created.

[00:01:57]

Well, we're still figuring out what we're giving them, but the golden Lebaby trophy will be there. But either way, we got a bunch of great games teed up for you guys.

[00:02:07]

Yeah. Tell them what we got, Jason.

[00:02:08]

Yeah, man. Well, first of all, there's going to be a, this is a competition. Jocks. Athletics versus academics is what they're trying to say. But really, it's jocks versus nerds.

[00:02:18]

Everybody knows this game, all right? Everybody's. Everybody knows. And we got exactly what it is.

[00:02:23]

And it's going to be a Cincinnati football version, Cincinnati university bearcats version. We got skyline, Chile. We might have some live animals. We're gonna be having students participate against the student athletes. So there's gonna be some bragging rights here. And, of course, the proceeds are all. Well, some of the proceeds are gonna be going to the Cincy reigns. That's right. To support the nil collective at the University of Cincinnati to help with recruiting and making bearcats football. Great.

[00:02:54]

Get the boys and girls paid money falling from the ceiling. Yeah, let it rain.

[00:02:59]

Yeah, we got it.

[00:03:00]

We got a bunch of cool stuff. We got trivia, we got, we got, we got, uh, we got, uh, we got music, we got trivia, we got skyline, we got, we got running, we got catching. We got throw in. We got a little bit of everything. So, uh uh. These games are going to be fun.

[00:03:16]

I can't wait.

[00:03:17]

Picture revenge of the nerds slash wipeout slash MXC. I think that's what we're going for. That's exactly what we're going for, actually. All right, let's talk about what we're getting to this episode, and let's do it. Got a special guest here.

[00:03:36]

You know, how about it?

[00:03:37]

This one?

[00:03:38]

Let's get it on.

[00:03:41]

All righty.

[00:03:41]

Our guest today is superstar NFL running back out of Whitehall High School. That's right. He's the record holder for most career rushing touchdowns in Penn State history, the second overall pick in the 2018 draft, former offensive rookie of the year, two time Pro Bowler, the man who apparently is now on the enemy. Well, the good guys for us. That's right. Please welcome Philadelphia Eagle Saquon Barkley.

[00:04:11]

Here we go.

[00:04:14]

I need that. I wish I got to have you two around. I need more intros like that.

[00:04:17]

You know, it makes me every room. We got you.

[00:04:20]

That's all we do. That's our major right there.

[00:04:22]

Well, welcome to new heights, brother.

[00:04:24]

Yeah, welcome to new heights, man.

[00:04:26]

Yeah. Appreciate you taking the time, man. It's been a pretty. Pretty wild couple weeks for you.

[00:04:31]

Yeah. But all good things, you know, like I thought that's how I try to look at it. All blessings, obviously. Stressful a little bit. Had to make some decisions, but those.

[00:04:40]

Are never easy, man.

[00:04:41]

Yeah, it's not.

[00:04:42]

You're a one man. Obviously. We've met during passing and stuff through all the NFL events and stuff like that, and you pour your heart into it, man, and you can tell that when you do that, you create the relationships and stuff. So I can only imagine how tough it's been for you, bro.

[00:04:55]

Yeah. Knowing you at a place for six years, and I had a lot of ups and downs toward my knee, you know, I have a lot of, you know, history there, so, like, knowing you're gonna leave, and obviously, before I even made a decision that I was going to be in Philly, but knowing that, I was like, oh, like, this story, this chapter has kind of come to an end. It definitely sucks, but unfortunately, it's a business, and I'm happy I could be. There's some guys, like, you know, who's trying to find a spot, trying to get in the league, bouncing around, and I had the opportunity to make a decision where I could further on my legacy and put me and my family in a better situation.

[00:05:31]

You did that, man. You did that. There were rumors eventually in the beginning that the Eagles were kind of in it. Were they always kind of, like, the top choice, or were they the ones kind of trying to make that move happen? Or.

[00:05:42]

Let's be. I'm be honest here, right? This is what. This is what the show's for, really. Probably the first team that had, like, my first interest was Houston. Ooh, Houston.

[00:05:52]

That would have been dangerous, too.

[00:05:53]

I got to communicate with CJ and a couple of those boys.

[00:05:57]

Nice.

[00:05:58]

But this is before, like, all the, you know, when you actually put offers on the table and talk to teams, and then as it got closer and you start hearing word and it's like, okay, like, you know, Philly. I probably never imagined myself playing with Philly, you know, six years ago, but it was like, I get to come back to Pennsylvania. My family's from Pennsylvania. My lady arcades like grandmas, all that from Pennsylvania. So we get to. We're already close. We even get to get closer and get a chance to compete. I got to admire them for afar. Admire, you know, what he was able to build over there, you know, and get to be able to be in part of that culture.

[00:06:35]

Oh, yeah.

[00:06:36]

It was a no brainer for me.

[00:06:37]

Oh, yeah.

[00:06:38]

Yeah.

[00:06:38]

Did you grow up, so you grew up in Pa, but you were western Pa, right?

[00:06:42]

Not east?

[00:06:42]

You guys. You were eastern.

[00:06:44]

Oh, wow. Yeah.

[00:06:44]

Okay.

[00:06:45]

I'm like, I'm probably 50 minutes from maybe. It depends what time you leave. Like 50 minutes an hour.

[00:06:52]

So did you grow up a birds fan?

[00:06:53]

No, no, no, I did not. My dad, I was born in New York. I was born in the Bronx. My dad got a Jets tattoo, like, right here. Okay.

[00:07:02]

Jets. Jake's gonna be real happy with this.

[00:07:04]

I was a Jets fan growing up, my whole life.

[00:07:06]

So not only did you go to the Giants, but then you went down the street, so you just been bouncing all around the jets.

[00:07:11]

Yeah. Really? But the cool thing, like, the cool thing about the Giants story. Cause the Giants and Jets obviously shared a stadium. So when I was a kid, and I'm always about big on, like, you know, speaking stuff to existence.

[00:07:23]

Oh, yeah, you got to me.

[00:07:24]

And my dad would drive, and if I was sleeping, if, say we go from Pa to New York, my dad would always wake me up or always look at the stadium. The stadium before it was my life. And it'd be like, I'm gonna play in that stadium. I'm gonna play that stadium. And, like, I thought it was gonna be for the jets one day, but just kind of matched up for me. I was number two pick, and jets was number three. I don't. I'm not saying the Giants passed me. I would have, you know, made it to the jets. But still, it was. It was cool for me to be able to, as a kid, like, have that moment and think about that and dream about that and then put on that and be able to play in that stadium.

[00:07:52]

That's dope, man. That's dope. And, I mean, like you said, you're still playing in that stadium.

[00:07:56]

Yeah. Right.

[00:07:57]

Yeah. I'm pretty curious, though. How did you get Howie Roseman to throw that much money at a running back?

[00:08:02]

Three.

[00:08:03]

Three years? $37 million.

[00:08:05]

Listen, I will say this. A lot of people got to know that, you know, I had a couple good offers. It was something I needed, like, for your confidence, for your swagger. Like, you hit the open market and you. Everyone's talking in the rumbles, and, oh, you gonna get this. You get that. This would have running market, running back market is. And it's like, I was viewed as a weapon. I was viewed as somebody that can come to the team, and, you know, I'm not just a bruiser back like they envisioned me. How they use Alvin, how they use a Christian, and not just saying Philly, like, the teams, you know, all the teams are able to offer. So when I had, you know, my offers in place, I was like, all right, what best fit me? Where can I go and have the best opportunity to win, in my opinion? And when you put all the pieces together, it made no sense to be Philly.

[00:08:51]

I love it, man.

[00:08:53]

Well, we're damn sure excited to have you in Philly. Three years, 37.75 million. Howie Roseman sure did shell out for sake one barkley. Yeah, man. And I think you hit it off right away. Your daughter became the star of the show. Jada asked if you're going to win now, now that you're on the Eagles.

[00:09:17]

Yeah, that, that. See, I, like, put a tweet out about that. First of all, it's funny.

[00:09:23]

Well, that ain't right.

[00:09:24]

You have grown men and women on social media arguing with a five year old who's put out there. But, like, it's funny how the media turns stories. Like, I told that story. If anything, my teammates know that. Or my former teammates, like, dj slay. Like, at the time, I told my teammates that story cause it was more embarrassing for me, and they took it. Like, I'm trying to throw a shot at the Giants. Like, I'm telling you a story that my daughter, we was getting our ass beat by the eagles so bad and so much of my career that they're like, my daughter's seen the pain, and it calls to me coming home. They're like, my daughter's like, oh, are we actually gonna win now? And everyone tried to spin it.

[00:09:59]

Like, oh, you know, they're gonna spin it.

[00:10:00]

That's what I'm saying. Like, it's a shot at the, at the Giants fans, but it's like, it just. That made no sense. And I'm just. I've been noticing recently, you know, just don't respond.

[00:10:09]

Just, yeah, no, you gotta.

[00:10:11]

You always got, like, everybody who has a daughter or any kids realizes, man, sometimes things just come out and it's natural and it's hilarious. And, yeah, I thought that was coming.

[00:10:22]

It was like a coming to, like, full circle moment for me, for sure. Telling that story, I thought was a pretty cool story. It's like, damn. Like this. I had this moment with my daughter, obviously was a bears and moment for me. And then, you know, here we are. And then everyone was just like, oh, he's throwing shots at the giants. And I'm like, all right, man. Like, it's not even that deep.

[00:10:38]

I feel you on that. Jason's oldest, Wyatt, knows AJ Brown as his pink cleats on the field. Do you like his pink shoes?

[00:10:47]

Yeah.

[00:10:47]

Nice.

[00:10:48]

You have any fun, like your family, man? Do you have any fun, like, traditions with, with your kids before or on game days?

[00:10:54]

Oh, yeah. Me and my daughter has. Have a handshake.

[00:10:56]

A handshake.

[00:10:57]

We do a little handshake where we do our little stuff and we kiss each other on the cheek. My son, now, he's, he's one, so he really, he's. He loves football already. Was kind of crazy to say his first word was ball, so. Oh, ok. 20 years. We got another one coming up.

[00:11:13]

It's in the jeans.

[00:11:14]

How is quads looking?

[00:11:16]

Yeah, he's good. He's an athlete. All right. He's an athlete, I'll tell you that. You know, his dad got some pretty good genes, and his mom's a pretty good athlete, too. So you got to make sure we keep him on the right track. He'll be right.

[00:11:27]

Hell, yeah. Well, let's talk some of your. The reception in Philly, man, everybody's obviously going nuts because the type of player they just got, obviously a big family, man. What's it been being on the other side of the Eagles? And do you have any, like, I always love to hear the bad Philly stories of, like, the fans. When you go into there, when you go into the link as an opponent, how has it kind of been different? Do you have any, like, good stories from when you were.

[00:11:55]

Yeah, I think. I think it's been. I think it's been great. The reception has been great. You know, I was there the other day house shopping. I got a free bagel.

[00:12:08]

If it's free, I need three, baby.

[00:12:10]

It was weird because if I was like, go to. When I go back to Philly, like, you know, they would say. They would talk shit and shit, like, whatever. Like, you know how fans would be, but, like, I would know some of those fans personally. Cause I'm from that area, and, like, my little, when I was a kid growing up, my nickname sese, so I was like, I'll be like, say, you fucking suck. And I'm like, you can't see, but I'm like, I definitely know you. Like, we played high school together or something like that. That's one thing I haven't got a chance to really do. I've been so caught up with, obviously looking for houses and the movement and then going back and forth with Giants fans or tiki that really haven't got a chance to be able to be able to show how appreciated I am to actually be a Philadelphia Eagles. I'm a guy, like you said, I love it. I want to compete. I love the culture. I got to see it. One of my favorite football experiences outside of losing the game was when we played them in the original playoffs, the year that they lost to you guys in Super bowl.

[00:13:05]

Like, that was a dope experience. My family was there, and they got to say they haven't had that experience since college because we went to Penn State and Penn State was jumping. So I'm just happy to be a part of that culture. Let me clear myself up. That's no diss to Giants fans or stuff like that. People could take it, but that's a fun culture. They showed a video of the. To the free agents and they had you talking, and he was like, if you love the city, the city's gonna love you. I'm like, that's what I'm excited for. I can't wait to get to that place. Can't wait to embrace that culture. Give 110% more.

[00:13:33]

They'll have fun with it. And somebody that we all know has fun being a Philadelphia eagle, Brandon Graham.

[00:13:43]

I just happened to. Come on.

[00:13:44]

You just on your way, man. So want to give you some love, man.

[00:13:48]

Can't wait to go try to do this thing together. Go enjoy yourself, man.

[00:13:53]

Get that love, baby. I'm gonna hit you.

[00:13:55]

BG was out front welcoming you in. I'm sure you got some good BG stories.

[00:13:59]

I'm just happy that I don't gotta. Like, he could talk to smack now.

[00:14:02]

That's what I. Yeah, we do the.

[00:14:05]

Training camp, but, like, I got here on the field, him and Fletch, like, fletch one time, my rookie year, Fletch and BG, bro, they're great to play against. I remember one time Fletcher tackled me my rookie year, and it was like, impressive tackles. I was like, down the field and I was like, there's no reason why a man that big should be able to be at that spot where I'm making that tackle. And I look up and he's like, yep, it's me again. I'm gonna be your daddy for the next twelve years.

[00:14:31]

And I'm just like, I'm gonna be your daddy for the next twelve years.

[00:14:35]

I'm like, I'm looking like this, and it's like, at the point, like, it's like, you know, it's all funny games, and I'm starting kind of like, nah, there's no way he playing for another twelve like this. VG, we played them divisional playoffs. And, like, he's going crazy. Like, he's going ham at Dex, which, like, he don't even gotta block Dex. Like, you got. You had a black.

[00:14:54]

He messing my day up. I'm like, bro, you calm down, bitch.

[00:14:57]

We had the coin toss and he just boom up on. I'm just like. And like, that fired me up. So, like, I can see it now, like, how it's gonna be a dope experience and cool to be a part of that side with him. Cause, like, I remember at that coin toss, like, you already knew what it was. It's Phillies, New York. It's a divisional playoffs. And it was like, you know, that little standoff moment we all get, and he's out there just yapping, and it's like, for me, I'm like that. Like, got me going. I'm ready to go. So it's like, I only can imagine being on the same side as him now. Oh, yeah. And not only him, all those guys. I can't wait. I honestly can't wait.

[00:15:26]

Man, you got an unbelievable offensive line in front of you. Have you ran into anybody on the offensive line side yet?

[00:15:33]

No. So not funny story. I talked to lane at the honors, and we just chopped up a little bit, and he was like, you know, we'll love to have, you know, stuff like that. And obviously another money. I was like, hey, I just want to win, so if we can make.

[00:15:48]

It work, if we can make it.

[00:15:49]

Work, we can make it work.

[00:15:50]

So that overrides everything.

[00:15:52]

Did you meet anybody else when you were in for the visit or signing?

[00:15:57]

Yeah, in the building.

[00:15:57]

It was insane. I met everybody.

[00:15:59]

Okay?

[00:16:00]

Literally everybody in the span of an hour, 2 hours.

[00:16:03]

It could be a bit overwhelming, I'm sure.

[00:16:05]

It's like, I, like, I hope the first day I go in, I had them send me, like, you know, everybody's name, and before I get there, I'm gonna make sure I go over it and try to learn everyone. But, like, I hope I'm not, like, the first day I'm in there and they're like, you remember my name? And I'm like, no, it ain't gonna be like I've met so many people. Yeah, but just even from, like, just being in there for less than 4 hours, less than 3 hours, like, you could just feel the energy. You could just feel, like, how upset everybody in that building, not just players. Like, I'm talking about from top to bottom about the way the season ended last year, and they're motivated, and it's like, damn. All right. That's refreshing. I'm like, I can't wait to be a part of that. So I'm like a kid in the candy store, bro.

[00:16:46]

There you go.

[00:16:46]

I'm happy. I got a fresh start. I can't wait to meet everybody and just go out there and play ball.

[00:16:53]

I'll tell you what, man.

[00:16:53]

And take that attitude there like, everybody. You're right. The season ended with a sour taste in everybody's mouth in the building, but everybody knows the talent that is on the roster. And with adding you there, dog, I'm telling you, it's. It's in a good spot. And you guys, the, you know, the potential that can be reached is, is the best. And I think that, you know, it's gonna be an outstanding environment all year long, all year round. Jalen, all these guys are gonna be rejuvenated. So, man, I can't. It's gonna be so fun to watch. It's gonna be so fun to be a part of. It's gonna be great.

[00:17:27]

You don't got one piece of advice?

[00:17:29]

I got one piece of advice before you ask me to come back. I'm not gonna come back. I'm not doing it. Do not go down at the 1 yd line. Gotta go down at the two.

[00:17:39]

Yeah, yeah. It's curtains. Yep.

[00:17:42]

They didn't ban it. They didn't ban it. Yeah, Jalen's gonna get that. He's gonna get that every time.

[00:17:48]

A little extra motivation there. That's just. No, don't go down to one. You gotta find a way to get end zone. I trust you, my boy. Obviously you know Miles pretty well. I know how many touchdowns probably was taken away from miles just watching his film. I'm just like, man, just gotta strain a little more.

[00:18:03]

There was one time, I mean, I remember being so happy when he got in the end zone or it was. It was the year. It was his last year in Philly. I was just so happy. Even you dreaded the play a little bit, dog. Whenever the running back got down to the 1 yd line, whether it's him or d swift or whoever, I like, especially when, like, we ran the ball the entire drive, it's like, man, I would say I'm sorry in the huddle. I'm like, man, I'm sorry.

[00:18:31]

That's gold, man.

[00:18:32]

Yeah.

[00:18:33]

Let's get to the Penn State.

[00:18:34]

Great, man. Oh, yeah.

[00:18:35]

Yeah. You recently went back to Penn State to celebrate St. Patrick's day. Yeah. I don't know. What was it like being a little Irish in the.

[00:18:45]

No, I think the weekend I went, I went for pro day, I think that might have been St. Patrick. And I got to go out. Like, I don't. I didn't get to go out and bars and stuff at Penn State because I was never 21. And, like, I got to go. I was out and I played. I was like a dj for a night.

[00:19:07]

Okay.

[00:19:08]

I tried something new. It was different. But, yeah, I don't got no Irish in me. I probably do. Like, I think everybody got everything now.

[00:19:14]

Like, if you do, especially irish, it trickles in everywhere somehow, right? Yeah. Do you give any of the young guys at Penn State any advice?

[00:19:23]

Yeah. You can speak to the team I.

[00:19:24]

Had, I got the chance to talk to the team. I will say this. I'm gonna choose my words wisely here. College football is a lot different than when we were in college football. It's a lot different. And just the mindset of the kids, not just saying at Penn State, like, anytime you talk to these college kids, it's a whole different process than what it was. So that was kind of my thing. When I talked to him, I was like, I know what college football is right now, but it's like, I felt like when I was there, especially my junior year, like, we really. We really shit the bed. Like, at one point, we were number two in the nation. We had a really good. We're up. Ohio State. Ohio state came back and beat us. Then we had another opportunity the next week because Ohio State lost to Iowa, and then we lost to Michigan State. And then that's kind of was our season.

[00:20:10]

Little big ten ball, baby.

[00:20:11]

Yeah, our season. So I was kind of just telling them, just lock in and focus, cuz it's different now. There's 717 games, like, there.

[00:20:18]

The couch was so crazy.

[00:20:21]

College football games.

[00:20:23]

Oh, my gosh. I didn't even know this.

[00:20:25]

If you make it to the college football playoffs and you.

[00:20:28]

And you go all the way. 17.

[00:20:30]

Holy cow.

[00:20:31]

So it's a different mindset. Like, before you had to win the big ten championship, or you had to be undefeated, or maybe only one loss. And that's hard to do when you play in Michigan and Ohio state every year and some years, Michigan state's really good and Wisconsin sneaky good here and there. So now it's just like, more of my mindset. I was trying to get them to understand is like, you got to get to the dance and you guys can do something special because we folded. We didn't. We didn't accomplish me, trace, Mike, my teammates. We didn't accomplish what we could have really accomplished there. And, you know, as a vet or alumni, coming back is like, it would bring so much pride not only to myself, but all of us if, you know, we could support you guys and you guys go out there and do it the right way and get the job done.

[00:21:09]

Yeah.

[00:21:09]

Hell yeah.

[00:21:10]

That's awesome, man. I commend you for going back and talking to him. We're getting fired up to shoot back to the natty ourselves for alumni weekend. Was it. Was it always Penn State? Being a East PA guy, I was Rutgers first.

[00:21:23]

What? Yeah, it was Rutgers first.

[00:21:26]

The whole New Jersey connection or the. I should say New York, the East coast connection.

[00:21:30]

I've been there my whole life, pretty much. Right?

[00:21:32]

And they were probably just getting into the big ten.

[00:21:34]

Yep. They just was getting big time. Rutgers offered me my sophomore year off of my JV film.

[00:21:41]

Holy. Yeah, JV.

[00:21:44]

Gotta get him early. We got a chance.

[00:21:46]

I wasn't like, a chance. I wasn't big recruit. I wasn't like, yeah, big recruit. I got my stars later on, but at the time I was 1615, 155 pounds.

[00:21:57]

I can't imagine you.

[00:21:58]

What were you doing on JV? Why were you on JV?

[00:22:02]

I was on one of my best friends who, like, works with me. He was the starting running back, and that's how our school was. A lot of you don't really play a young guy. And to be honest, I wasn't that good. I wasn't really that good at that. Like, I was kind of a late blow. No, swear. After my sophomore year, like, that's when I was like, I started getting that mentality and I start getting into the weight room and start grinding and pushing myself. But Rutgers offered me straight off of, like, potential that I never even seen it myself. Wow. And you know Coach Wilson, Norris Wilson. He was a running back coach at the time under flood, obviously. I ended up decommitting and I played Penn State. I went to Penn State. My first start ended up being against Rutgers.

[00:22:40]

That's how it works.

[00:22:41]

Yeah, I went stupid. And I remember coach flood was like, got fired or something. And he. Coach Wilson was an interim head coach and went up to him and I made. I was one to make sure. Cause he's the one who gave me my. You know how it works in college? You get a scholarship and then that's when other teams. You get that one off buying. Yeah, you start buying in. Pulled me aside and was like, you know, just looked my eyes and I knew I seen something special. And it almost, like, brought me to tears. Cause I was like, this person, like, that's all you need sometimes. Sometimes you need someone to have belief in you and take a chance on you. And I'm forever grateful for. Obviously, I never played there, but, you know, I don't think I ever get to the point I am if it's not for that moment.

[00:23:16]

Right on, bro.

[00:23:17]

That's crazy.

[00:23:18]

When that new NCAA game comes out, man, just do a creative play. Like, this is what it would have looked like.

[00:23:24]

So you guys got to play NCAA.

[00:23:26]

Oh, yeah.

[00:23:26]

Oh, yeah.

[00:23:27]

My year is literally the year I was cut it off.

[00:23:29]

I was 7th string and, like, a 54 overall rating at quarterback.

[00:23:35]

I moved myself to running back right away.

[00:23:38]

My coming out game was against Rutgers, too. Yeah, Rutgers. They're good for that. They're good confidence builders, everybody in Rutgers, man. I didn't mean that. I didn't mean that, guys, because they.

[00:23:50]

Was in the big. That was big east.

[00:23:51]

That was a big east stage. Yeah.

[00:23:52]

And they were actually really good at first when I was in school, because they had. They had Brian Leonard.

[00:23:57]

She rice. Right? She rice. Yeah.

[00:24:00]

She rice.

[00:24:01]

Rashid. Shout out to Rashid right now.

[00:24:04]

But no, they were. They were really good when I first got into Cincinnati, and then we kind of took over after that, and then they started getting decent again. Nobody. Didn't they beat you your senior year? Didn't they travel?

[00:24:17]

Yeah. Yeah, they got. It was a good coming out party. Running behind your fat ass. All right. I'm actually curious about this, being back in the locker room and everything, kind of being around the guys. Do you still feel that. That college camaraderie, even though the nil stuff is kind of, like, guys can. And not only that, but the transfer portal, like, guys can just, if they don't like their scenario, just get up and slide, right?

[00:24:51]

Yeah. I wasn't really able to be in a locker room, like, when I was in a locker room. Like, they was right out there. It's just more of, like, when you just talk to everybody. Like, it's just a different world up there.

[00:25:01]

Yeah.

[00:25:02]

I never wanted to be a coach, but if I ever decided to be a coach, I would not want to be a coach in college.

[00:25:07]

Damn.

[00:25:07]

It's like, it's different. Like, and you kind of, like, got a little NFL to it, and, like, I didn't get a chance to, like, if it's one thing that I really wanted to tell them, that just crossed my mind. It was like, have fun. Like, don't worry about the business stuff. Like, obviously get your money, get your paper. I'm all about that. But, like, this, you guys know, like, the next level you get to, it's a monster. It's a whole different beast.

[00:25:29]

Yeah.

[00:25:29]

Like, so have fun and enjoy, because you're gonna be searching for that for forever.

[00:25:34]

Yeah.

[00:25:35]

Maybe, like, more. More times you don't. Winning teams, like, probably yours, like, your successful years when you won Super Bowls, the locker room is probably way more closer. But not to say that locker room wasn't close in New York, because we were really close. Yeah, but just, like, you walk in one day, you boys with this dog, like, with him, you chopping it up. Then the next day, like, his lockers cleaned out. It's a new name. It's a new. Like, you don't get that. And, like, it's getting towards, like, that in college now. Cause, like, you could just up and leave. Like, there's no adversity. There's no, like. Okay. Like. Like, which is. It's hard. Cause, like, everybody's story's different.

[00:26:08]

I know. I appreciated the adversity I got hit with in college. It put me in the tight end room, essentially, so landed me a job.

[00:26:17]

Right.

[00:26:17]

You know what I'm saying?

[00:26:18]

Yeah.

[00:26:19]

It's good and bad, right? Like, what the rules were where nobody can ever make any money off of their name.

[00:26:24]

Right.

[00:26:24]

And the schools are capitalizing on all of it. Like, that was the wrong way to do it, too. But, yeah, the. The allegiance to the university and your teammates, that was, like, really did feel like a family more in college. It just does that. You're all bought in, and there's not, like, the free agency portal, which kind of takes place now with nil. Right. Like, where every year guys can go wherever they want.

[00:26:47]

And I work like that. In NFL, you can't just up and leave because you don't have a good situation. Snip, snip. And then now you're on the outside looking in.

[00:26:53]

Right.

[00:26:53]

You know, they don't teach nothing.

[00:26:55]

Yeah.

[00:26:55]

It's what. It's a wild. It's a wild scenario, but I want to get back to your dj career. What. What kind of were you. Were you playing? What were you playing? A little bit. Everything.

[00:27:06]

Mixing it up, you know.

[00:27:08]

What's your dj name?

[00:27:09]

I don't know. I got a. I really thought about this. Like, I was gonna buy a set. Oh, you gotta get you the pioneer.

[00:27:17]

The pioneer. 400, 200. I don't even know what number it is.

[00:27:20]

Something like that. Pioneer for. This is a turntable.

[00:27:23]

Yeah, it's like the. Yeah. I'm not even sure if it's the right one. I don't know. Just kind of throwing out there. Pioneer. I don't even know what you guys do, but you do something electronically, you guys just got a free.

[00:27:38]

It's something about being a dj, though, like, controlling the crowd for sure. I had no idea what I was doing, and onset dj next to me was kind of just telling what to.

[00:27:47]

Do, and I was coaching you, pony.

[00:27:48]

Yeah, coachable.

[00:27:50]

But I remember, like, the one time we're playing dreams, a nightmare, and, like, there's a button or it's like a slider. We're like. It's like, the song still going, but it's like, you know, it's for the crowd. They could sing.

[00:28:00]

Yeah.

[00:28:00]

And, like, I timed at the right time. I push it up and, like, everyone.

[00:28:04]

Everybody's screaming it.

[00:28:04]

I'm just sitting in, like my little brother. I'm like, oh, my God. Electric. And I, like. I. Like, I left that moment. I was like, damn. Like, I might actually, like, try this for real. Like, just got no.

[00:28:17]

Shaq.

[00:28:17]

Shaq. Shaq does that, right? Yeah. Shaq's a DJ.

[00:28:20]

Yup.

[00:28:21]

DJ diesel.

[00:28:22]

Yeah, but I gotta.

[00:28:24]

He's dubhouse, though.

[00:28:25]

Yeah, that's not my thing. Like, that's not my thing. I'm more like rap and then, you know, I'll throw a little country in there.

[00:28:32]

Oh, okay.

[00:28:33]

But I ain't doing all right now. That's not my fault. Great song, though. I don't know who sing that song. Throwing shots with. That's not my thing.

[00:28:44]

You give. You give me enough tequila, I'll be out there on that dance floor. Iran now. Well, that's. That's too much fun, man. Obviously you hold all types of records at Penn State, man. I mean, the list goes on. Most career rushing touchdowns, most career yards, most receiving yards by running back. Like we said, the list goes on. Do you think any of them would get broken?

[00:29:08]

Records are meant to be broken, right?

[00:29:10]

No, no, that's what they say.

[00:29:13]

I mean, now that there's 17 games, there's 17.

[00:29:15]

Oh, I didn't get the one that matters the most to me, which was that the russian yards. Evan Royce over Royce and got it. He played four years, though.

[00:29:23]

I was about to say no.

[00:29:24]

This to you?

[00:29:24]

Oh, you know, before you turn 21. Saquon.

[00:29:27]

Do I think? Do I think? Yeah, I believe so. I believe so. And, like, now I'm at that point now where, like, I'm year seven, where it's like, I look back on, like, some of my college stuff. Like, saves a tweet. Like, someone put a tweet out and I'll see it, and I'd be like, damn. I was really raw, low key. You don't understand it. Like, in the moment, you don't understand it.

[00:29:48]

Just now realizing this, you were second overall.

[00:29:51]

Yeah, but I like to be in the moment.

[00:29:53]

You did arguably the craziest shit I've ever seen on a football field. You hurdled a man and in mid air, took a fucking hit from somebody else and landed on your feet.

[00:30:06]

Yep. That was. Yeah.

[00:30:07]

Like, you went airborne and trucked somebody while you were hurtling somebody. It was the most freakishly athletic thing I'd ever seen.

[00:30:15]

Probably one of my better plays. Yep. Yep.

[00:30:16]

Was that Iowa?

[00:30:17]

Iowa, yeah. Yeah.

[00:30:18]

I remember that shit like it was yesterday, man. I was like, that was one of those that makes you get out of your seat.

[00:30:22]

Like, but I'm at that point now where it's like. I was like, dang. But do I think myself, like, they have really good back right there. Now they have two singleton and fat man or Allen. That's his nickname. I don't know what. Yeah, that's what they. That's what I call. But, yeah, I feel like I love that, though. I love, like, because I know what, you know, Royster and all those backs there, like, meant to me. I will look up their numbers and look up their stats and. All right. Like, that's what I. Go get. I'm. Go get. I'm gonna get it. And, like, I think it's cool, like, to be a position now where younger back to come to Penn State where, you know, I'm the pick. I'm the pinnacle. I'm the one you got to go get. And I'm not, like, one. Like, you know, oh, you're not? Ogs be hating now. Like, I'm not like one. I'm just saying, like, in general, like, I play not just only football and all sports, but I want, you know, you come Penn State, like.

[00:31:18]

You couldn't last. Back in my day.

[00:31:23]

One time, someone told me I played.

[00:31:25]

In a powder puff league.

[00:31:26]

It was. Yeah. And then, like, he showed me his shoulder, and shoulder was insane. And I'm just like, no, I don't want that. My body to be like that. Actually, maybe it was a good thing I didn't play your time. It's not like, a thing to brag about.

[00:31:40]

Like, he was.

[00:31:41]

I play. He's like, I did this in my shoulder, and I played through it. Like, you probably shot it up with stuff that we can't show it up now.

[00:31:47]

No doubt.

[00:31:47]

And now this is looking this way and that way. I like my shoulder.

[00:31:51]

They probably weren't even telling them. They were like, hey, we got this stuff that might. Might help you. Might help you.

[00:31:56]

We got a cream. It'll make it feel.

[00:32:00]

We have a topple.

[00:32:01]

We got a topple.

[00:32:02]

It'll just go right over the skin. You won't even know it's in there.

[00:32:08]

Dude.

[00:32:08]

There was something that guys used to take out.

[00:32:10]

He was like, dM's, everybody walking around with new hips and new knees.

[00:32:13]

They said it used to make everybody's breasts smell like raw eggs or something like that. You ever heard that? Like sulfur.

[00:32:19]

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've never used it. They wrap it around the knees. Yeah, that's too funny. No, I've never done it. Obviously they outlawed the fuck out of that shit. I got a little bit left, but I'm already two in so probably should reel it back a little bit. But I'm not because I'm accelerating it.

[00:34:46]

Looking forward to learning.

Buffalo Wild Wings, the official sports bar of March Madness.

[00:36:13]

Let's go, sports bar. Thank you, Jason. NCAA and March Madness are trademarks of the National Collegiate Athletic association. Don't you forget it. Let's move on to talking some NFL draft, where we're a month out from the 2024 NFL draft up in Detroit, Michigan. Yeah, believe so. I think I was right on that. It is up in Detroit this year, man. I think it's cool that they're. They're jumping around and doing that and everybody's home. So do I. I think it's cool, man. And it. It kind of gives everybody a broader experience of what these cities are really like.

[00:36:48]

Yeah.

[00:36:48]

Although there was.

[00:36:50]

It was in Kansas City last year, so.

[00:36:51]

But there was something cool about being in New York. Like, I don't know why. Like, watching as a kid watching it always in New York, there was, like, a certain cachet to it, but when it was in Philly, it was dope.

[00:37:04]

Yeah.

[00:37:04]

We like to talk about everybody's draft day experience, man. You were literally could have gone one overall. I feel like everybody in the top three to five picks, anybody can go number one. It's just dependent on what team is needed for anything. Us Clevelanders over here. How close was it for you to go to the Browns?

[00:37:22]

Not close at all.

[00:37:23]

Oh, okay. Gotcha.

[00:37:25]

All right. Some guys, like, never talk to the team. That all. And they still draft them. So, like, everyone got like their own different process. I never talked to the Browns once. I talked to him one time where it was like a sit down and I was like, so what's the word? Y'all not feeling me? And it was like, no, we just handling differently this and that third. And we just, they gave me like, this, like, the spiel. So in my opinion, I never thought Cleveland Brown was a real thing. And I was really super excited to where number two was and where number three was anyway, so it's like, you want to be first?

[00:37:59]

Wait, hold on.

[00:37:59]

What the, what the, hold on.

[00:38:01]

What are you trying to say? What you trying to say about Cleveland?

[00:38:04]

Maybe I gotta be careful nowadays. What I, for some reason right now, whatever I say is, again, twisted, crazy.

[00:38:10]

Yeah. Let me not play into that.

[00:38:12]

I want it to be like I get to come home. Like I said, that story of me being a kid, like that was. It fit everything so right? Yeah. I don't think Cleveland ever was a real thing in my opinion.

[00:38:24]

I respect it. Well, you were second overall to the New York football giants in 2018. You were rumored to go very high and then, like, top ten, but your draft stock kept going up. Were you at all surprised that you went second? Like, was there ever a doubt that you, I mean, you were just talking about two and three, so you kind of knew.

[00:38:43]

Yeah, I don't think. I don't think there ever was a doubt for me that I was gonna go high. I think at the time it just made sense. Especially, you know, I'm realistic. Like, running back going number two at that time is rare and may not see it again, but for what the team had, like, the year before, they went three and 13, but everybody got banged up. Everybody got hurt. Odell got hurt the year prior. That's when they made it to the playoffs. They were balling. They went to Green Bay and shit the bed. So it was like, from their mindset, they're like, all right, we know what we have in our team. We can add a weapon and he come in and bring a spark. Eli's on the older age, but he still has some ball. I mean, that year he threw for like, over 4000 yards. So we were like, it just made sense. And it was like, obviously I wanted to be there. And when I got drafted, I was like, oh, man. Like, okay, you mean, tell me. We have Eli Manning at quarterback, myself at running back, Odell Beckham junior, Sterling Shepherd, Evan Ingram.

[00:39:47]

You guys were fucking stacked for sure.

[00:39:48]

And we balled like we that year and y'all know it. It was like football margin error every year.

[00:39:54]

You know what I mean?

[00:39:55]

And we lost like eight, seven games by like seven points or less.

[00:39:58]

Right.

[00:39:59]

And on offense, we were balling like Eli had over 4000 yards. Oh. Had a thousand yards and he didn't play the last four games. Shep had like 800, 700. Evan. Like 800, 700. I had like 2000 on purpose. So it's like, no one ever mentioned that part of, like, we came in like, we offense, we did what we had to do. Like, we're. We're putting the points, we're scoring. We just wasn't finding ways to win games.

[00:40:21]

Yeah.

[00:40:21]

Next year, everything started changing.

[00:40:24]

Yeah.

[00:40:24]

Yeah. I mean, I remember that stint with. With New York and I think it was right at the tail end right there with Eli. And offense was putting up the defense, was. Was kind of trying to figure things out. But, I mean, that's the way it goes in the NFL. It changes quickly. But that rookie year in 2018, were you. I guess. What was your welcome to the NFL moment? Like, whether it be like a veteran saying something we already talked about story.

[00:40:48]

JJ Watt.

[00:40:49]

JJ Watt.

[00:40:51]

JJ Watt.

[00:40:52]

Oh, wow.

[00:40:53]

Let me take that first was Eli, man, you go into the building and it's like, shit, that's fucking Eli Manning. You know what I mean? I was a fan of the game. I'm into that. I respect. I'm a big fan of y'all. I'm into that. So, like, it was like, okay, that's Eli Manning. But in game, we were playing Houston and we had a counter to the left. He won on the backside and still got to me before as I was getting the ball. I mean, that was like, that doesn't make sense. Like, you guys know. You know what I'm talking about? It doesn't. That doesn't make sense.

[00:41:23]

I've been that guy on the backside of the block trying to get him. And he'd made that.

[00:41:26]

That's what made JJ so dangerous. He was. He was good enough to backdoor it. And still.

[00:41:30]

And still. Yeah, it boomed.

[00:41:32]

Me too.

[00:41:33]

Like, boom. Me. Like, it was like. Like a boom. I was like, whoa. And I'm looking, I'm like. And then when you go back, like, it was crazy in the moment. And then when you go back and you watching film and it's like, I'm just like, no way he did that. Like, there's no way he did that. How do you know?

[00:41:45]

The ball was going over there. Like, he's.

[00:41:48]

He. Him. I'm trying to think. Fletchcox. Fletch. That moment, that story. That's a fun story.

[00:41:53]

That's a great one.

[00:41:54]

But, yeah. JJ, bro, he was. He was a Luke. Luke was Pepper. Julius. Pepper. Yeah.

[00:42:06]

Peppers, dude, just. We had a warm us just like, what the far.

[00:42:10]

You human. He walks up next to you across from the line. He's got the visor on your slide.

[00:42:15]

What the fuck? You.

[00:42:17]

I'm pretty strong. I'm pretty strong. Do. At least I like to believe I am.

[00:42:21]

Yeah.

[00:42:22]

He man hit on me. Like, embarrassing. It was a play where I bounced, and it was like a dead play. Like, we blew the whistle, and he had me like this, and I'm like, oh. You know, like, you know, football is like. You know, you get into a little bit, and I'm like, bro, like, it didn't go nowhere. And then I was like, it ain't going nowhere again. I'm like, man, you got it, bro. Like, let me go.

[00:42:45]

Like, you got it.

[00:42:46]

Like, you. Like, that was. That's probably. Those are my moments. Like, come on, you can't do that. There's no reason you should be that damn strong. And, like, that was, like, the first time I experienced, like, grown men strength. Not weight room strong. Like, just hand man.

[00:43:03]

When somebody's hands are so strong that you feel like they just have complete control over you, it is the most, like, oh, wow. This guy is another level of strength. I felt that with Fletcher Cox, and, yeah, oddly enough, Clay Matthews was the other one that had that. But lately, yeah, he just had some strong ass hands.

[00:43:19]

I'll tell you what. I talk smack to the wrong guy. James Harrison, man. And, like, it's not a smart one, you know?

[00:43:28]

Captain Bison, I'm out here.

[00:43:29]

If I'm out, I'm fighting sometimes. Cross from whoever, you mean. Anybody. Tell me the can, man.

[00:43:38]

Anybody.

[00:43:40]

I ended up getting the. His wrath because. Because he played that outside backer position where sometimes he. He'd be over number two in the slot we're playing in Pittsburgh. I talked a little bit of shit to him. He's staring at me again with the black visor. Can't really see if he's looking at me, but I know he's looking at.

[00:43:56]

Me, you know, because he's.

[00:43:59]

Doesn't say anything.

[00:44:00]

Yeah.

[00:44:01]

Couple quarters go by. I'm looking in at the ball because it's silent cadence. Timed it up perfect.

[00:44:07]

Wow.

[00:44:09]

Just absolutely smoked me off the line of scrimmage. Fucked up the whole play. Alex, like, I don't know what you want me to do there. I'm looking in at the ball, he's looking at my blind side, obviously. Never talk shit to him again, right?

[00:44:23]

Yep. Smart.

[00:44:24]

Were there any things that made you do as a rookie in New York? Any rookie hazing or.

[00:44:29]

Nah, we had the same. You go up there, you sing up there. You say your contract where you're drafted? Eli was a little prankster. He only. He got me one time.

[00:44:41]

Gotta watch out for those mannings.

[00:44:42]

Yeah, right. He had, like, this thing where, like, he, like, threw crats in my mouth. Like how he got. He's like, he's sitting. He's like, man, like, my tooth been, like, hurting me a little bit. Like, out of nowhere too. Like we in practice. I'm like, damn. Like, probably, you know, you got a lot of money. You probably should go get that. Check that out. And he's like, nah. Like, you see it? I was like, he's like, no. Like, look, I'm gonna show you what it is. And I'm like, just do grass in my mouth.

[00:45:07]

And I was like, what a great part.

[00:45:10]

And it's like at that moment, you just, like, you, like, you just start laughing and stuff. And I'm just like, that's probably, like, my only thing. And like, I stole this from him. He like, I'll do it to the rookies. I'll get the rookies where, like, he'll put the water bottle and then he'll twist it and it's not really on. You know what I mean? And then the rookie drinking, he never got me, but I gotta get him.

[00:45:31]

You gotta get him after a long drive drill, too.

[00:45:32]

Yeah.

[00:45:33]

Act like you're going over to help him. Like, hey, man, way to run. Way to run.

[00:45:37]

Boom.

[00:45:40]

You need some water? You look thirsty. Dang. So you never had any popeyes on the planet or anything?

[00:45:46]

Y'all funny. For real, though. Yeah, actually.

[00:45:52]

With it, man.

[00:45:54]

I'm chick fil a. I'm more chick fil a.

[00:45:56]

Okay, thank you.

[00:45:57]

Nice. You got the chickfila? Yeah.

[00:45:59]

Oh, no.

[00:46:00]

Oh, yeah. I'm just talking. Yeah. And get it.

[00:46:02]

Yes.

[00:46:03]

Jason has a story where he had to go and get popeyes and was actually late to the plane. Yeah, or just bailed on the popeyes. So he wasn't late to the plane.

[00:46:12]

Jay Stu. Jonathan Stewart was my vet, so that's why, like, I don't. I don't. All the rookies, I don't make him get candy. I don't make him do nothing.

[00:46:21]

He was Carolina for a while, right?

[00:46:23]

And he ended up. He ended his career with. With the Giants. And it's like, I guess you kind of reflection of your vet, because, like, he had me do anything. I think I paid for one lunch, and I was like, we had, like, a joint practice or whatever in Detroit, and that's the only thing that I could remember. So it's like, for me, it's like when I have my rookies and stuff, that now that I'm the vet, like, I really don't make them really do too much. Only thing I'll probably make him do is, like, after practice, probably take my helmet or take my short path. That's what. That's really. That's the only thing I had to do.

[00:46:55]

I don't do anything for the Titans either, because I benefit from the offensive line. The offensive line. You guys fucking put your guys through the ring.

[00:47:03]

I think that's everywhere, right?

[00:47:05]

Every offensive line room.

[00:47:08]

And I'm messing around.

[00:47:09]

Your stripes.

[00:47:10]

If there's one thing online ain't messing around with, it's food. You got to get that.

[00:47:14]

Yeah.

[00:47:15]

This is sweet, man. You rushed for 106 yards and scored a 68 yard touchdown. Your first ever NFL game. What did that feel like when you got in that zone after that, Teddy, man.

[00:47:27]

Yeah.

[00:47:28]

Amazing. It was a. It was kind of like a, you know, full circle moment because you think, you know, you can do it. Like, you know, you did in college.

[00:47:37]

Was it in Metlife?

[00:47:38]

Yeah, it was in Metlife. So I really didn't.

[00:47:41]

I would have cried.

[00:47:41]

I didn't have a great game the whole game. I guess you could say, I don't think I would play bad. But, like, that's when Jacksonville was like that. The defense dogs, Campbell, Jalen, Smith, like, all them, like, they. That was the year they just lost to Tampa Bay.

[00:47:59]

Playoffs. Yeah.

[00:48:00]

Yeah, right? Yeah.

[00:48:02]

New England.

[00:48:02]

New England.

[00:48:03]

Tampa's.

[00:48:03]

Oh, my gosh.

[00:48:04]

I'm thinking England.

[00:48:05]

Yeah. Going straight to Tampa Bay. I'm screwing that up.

[00:48:08]

So my first game, I'm like. I'm like, I'm going against these monsters. But when I scored that touchdown, I had her. Like, it was pretty sick. I was able to, like, this basically all the stuff that they said I wasn't going to be able to do in NFL because you only could do on a college level. I did it in that run. So I was like, more of, like, all right. Like, I took it in, but at the time was like, oh, like, this is. This is just football.

[00:48:27]

Yeah.

[00:48:28]

This is football.

[00:48:30]

Yeah. Well, when you're saquon, it's just football.

[00:48:34]

Yeah, everybody. I feel like when you're going in your rookie year, like, the first time you're going out there, you don't know what to expect. You know, you played great up until that moment, but it's like, man, what is this gonna feel like? But, yeah, when you break four tackles and run a 68 yard touchdown, I feel like you're like, yeah, I got this.

[00:48:51]

It was more of like. It was more of like. And I remember, and then, like, at first I let it sit in, like. And then, like, the crowd started bugging, and I just started feeding off their energy, and so I started yelling. I'm like, ah. Like, yeah, like, I really like that. I really like that. I told you. And then we had a two point conversion, got locked up. I ain't no shit. I ran the ball they handed off and no damn waste. A little too much energy.

[00:49:19]

I know how that goes. The Giants have played the Eagles 13 times over the past six years. You were on the team over there in New York.

[00:49:26]

You don't gotta go to record.

[00:49:28]

No, no, no, we don't.

[00:49:29]

We don't.

[00:49:29]

The Eagles have.

[00:49:31]

Yeah, we know. Yep. Hey, that's in the past. That's in the past. That's in the past.

[00:49:35]

Just want to know your favorite, favorite moment of the rivalry. That's all. We don't want to talk about the record.

[00:49:40]

My favorite moment, I would say it was a playoffs game. Like, before we even got to the coin toss. Like, I'm in that mindset. I'm like, you know how you get in that mode? I'm like, all right. Boom, boom. And we just. We just went to Minnesota and played football. Yeah, but I'm seeing him. I can't. Like, that's, like, one thing. Like, I never. It took me so long. Took me five years to even get to that moment and to, like, not being in there this year. Like, that's like you. Like, once you get in there, it's addicted. I can't imagine, like, you guys done at the highest level. You won super bowling. You obviously won multiple side, so I can't imagine what that feel like. But I remember I'm in my bag, like, I mean, you know, you're talking to yourself and all you hear is like, that's when Uzi song was popping, and then the motherfuckers came out and, like, it was like, I was like.

[00:50:26]

Oh, Jason was doing little Uzi in there.

[00:50:29]

I was like, this is real. Like. Like, Minnesota was crazy. Like, the environment was crazy. Like, it was dope. That's another stadium that kind of gives, like, a college feel.

[00:50:38]

Oh, yeah.

[00:50:39]

What the. Minnesota.

[00:50:41]

Minnesota beat Minnesota to come play us.

[00:50:44]

Yeah. It was like, boom. You hear that? This ain't what you want. Then they started walking out. I was like, oh, my God. So that's probably my favorite moment. There's a lot of moments was games that we lost environments, though. Yeah.

[00:50:59]

You'll remember those environments forever. That's dope.

[00:51:03]

You know, obviously wouldn't be in the Eagles. You guys had to deal with a lot of change up in New York. You know, what. What have you learned from, like, the three different head coaches you played for? Style. Yeah, yeah.

[00:51:15]

Everybody got their own style. They're all different. I'm now going here. It's probably gonna be like, my 7th or 8th running back coach in, like, seven years. Going on my seven year.

[00:51:24]

Wow.

[00:51:24]

So that's definitely tough. And, you know, you know, that's why I admire all those guys that were there and still there in New York, because you guys know, like, situations and stuff can really, really help your career out. And we've been tossed around, thrown around this head coach, that head coach. And I believe. I still believe. Obviously, I'm not there no more. I still believe Brian Dable is a really. I don't believe. I know he's a really good coach, and he's the right guy to get him back on the track. It's tough as a player. Cause this coach likes this, this coach like this, this coach like this. What has taught me, though, is, like, I feel like I'm able to adapt into whatever, you know, whatever the culture that they're trying to bring. And that was, like, my main message to Nick, to coach Tayyani was like, you tell me, you know, what you want from me, not only as a player, but as a leader. And I'm gonna try my best every single day to go out and capitalize that and to go out and take advantage of it. But that's what I learned, to be able to adapt and talk the business side of it before I got into the business side of it.

[00:52:28]

Like, you don't get numb. Like, when coaches leave, it hurts. But it's not like my first coach is like, damn, damn, fuck. I let him down. You know what I mean? That's on me. And then now you learn, you know what it is? It's a business. I had coaches leave for good reason. Like, my coach nix, he just left to be the OC for Syracuse. So that's what it taught me the business side of it and how to be able to adapt and really knowing that no matter what, like, you can't complain. You can't complain about your situation. No one cares. So don't go whining. Just put your head down and coming every day ready to work and try to win and compete.

[00:53:00]

I commend you for having that mindset. Not a lot of people are owning up and having that. That type of mentality to, you know, take it to heart and. And call themselves out first in some regards and just to make sure that I need to do everything I possibly can and if I need to make that, make, get better, which I've never turned on a game film and haven't and have said or, like, haven't said, I need to get that better. Every single game that I've ever watched of myself, of myself on, in terms of scouting myself, I'm like, man, I got to be better.

[00:53:32]

I got to be better.

[00:53:33]

I got to be better. Not a lot. I don't think enough guys in the league hold themselves to that. That type of caliber and that accountability. So I commend you, brother.

[00:53:40]

Thank you. Appreciate that.

[00:53:42]

And it gets hard with the turnover. Like, I feel like every time. Every time there's, like, coaching changes or there's, like, a bad season, like Travis saying, a lot of people start either pointing finger, some guys are taking accountability, but it tries to, like, tear guys apart. That's the hardest thing in my mind with, like, transition is, like, how do you keep. How do you keep bringing everybody back to, like, hey, we're on this. We're all doing this thing together. We're all going in the same direction. Right?

[00:54:05]

You know what's so crazy, though? That's why in New York, I never understood why we didn't have more success than we should have, because I'm a firm believer in, like, what you. What you put into what you get out.

[00:54:19]

I'm with you on that.

[00:54:20]

Even all of, like, the turnovers and, like, this is like, this for, like, obviously the guys that's been there and the guys are still there right now. Like, when I tell you, buying in.

[00:54:29]

Yeah.

[00:54:29]

And, like, if you know the history, like, shermer, judge, daves, all three different totally people, two different, three different total people, like, those guys that are still there right now. And when I was part with them, like, no matter what, bought in, bought in, bought in, and worked and worked, and whatever was asked, we tried our best. We tried our best. And just, bro, the NFL is fucking hard. People do not understand that. That's like what, like what you guys are doing right now in Kansas city with you and Pat. Like had to, cuz, like, from the outside, like when you get in the league and you actually in, you know, it's easy from like a fans point of view, but when you actually in it, like, it's like so much more respectable. It's like, bro, it's tough. Like, even when you do shit the right way, even when you work hard, like, it's still football.

[00:55:10]

Yeah.

[00:55:10]

You got somebody lean on you this.

[00:55:12]

Way there's a ball.

[00:55:13]

It's like, yeah, bro. It's crazy.

[00:55:16]

I'm with you, man. How about my guy Mike Kafka over there?

[00:55:20]

Yeah, caf keys.

[00:55:22]

He actually played with Jason and then came to Casey.

[00:55:25]

Yeah.

[00:55:25]

And, yeah, you already know he was one of my favorite offensive minds.

[00:55:29]

You've been with a lot of former Eagles guys. Like, Pat was with me.

[00:55:34]

Yeah.

[00:55:35]

Forgot Sherm was. Sherm was with us with Chip and.

[00:55:39]

He went, philly did Minnesota.

[00:55:41]

Yep. And then to John, then came to New York.

[00:55:44]

I love Kafka. I like Kafka because it's like this season, I feel like you learn more about people when shit's not going, there's no questions.

[00:55:53]

Amen.

[00:55:54]

Easy. When shit's easy, it's like, it's easy to show up. And by any means, like the Giants offense. When I was with them, obviously, I'm say we. When I was with them, yeah, we were awful this year, like, for a lot of reasons. I mean, like I said, it's easy to point the finger. Say this, but caf? Every single day was same person.

[00:56:13]

He's gonna show up, baby.

[00:56:14]

Every single day, man. Every single day.

[00:56:17]

I'm with you on that.

[00:56:18]

Guess what, 92 percenters.

[00:56:20]

What?

[00:56:21]

The 2024 Major League Baseball season is finally here, and this year will be more exciting than ever. That's right. More importantly, tomorrow, Thursday. Thursday, March 28 is officially opening day in the major League Baseball. We couldn't be more excited to get back into some baseball action.

[00:56:38]

I really jumped off opening day up there in Cleveland last year.

[00:56:41]

Dude, I'm throwing out a pitch, me and Fletcher Cox. So we'll see how it goes.

[00:56:45]

You and Fletcher Cox? See, this is how they got me. They said, you and mom are going to throw out the first pitch. And then mom was like, you got it. I was like, mom, I didn't practice.

[00:56:52]

My elbow doesn't work anymore. So I think Fletcher's gonna have to do it.

[00:56:55]

It's a brand new season, which means anything can happen. Ladies and, gentlemen, that's the beauty of sports growing up.

[00:57:01]

As 92 percenters, you know, we love speaking things into existence. Just manifesting life on this podcast.

[00:58:55]

It's what we do, people.

[00:58:58]

I'm gonna win another Super bowl. Just some of the things we like to say around here, cuz it's possible. Remember how you got the dippin dots?

[00:59:06]

Yep.

[00:59:06]

I also said I needed a more comfortable chair in the chief's tight end room. And the cadillac of chairs, as you know, a la z boy recliner. Oh, the greatest seat ever made. And. And now we have him as a sponsor. But now that you're retiring, Jason, I think it might be be you who needs a la Z Boy recliner. Not that you'll be slowing down too much.

[00:59:29]

I am beyond excited for this lazy boy. I've been a big fan for a long time. I actually, like, the old school lazy boys that weren't, like, the overly big ones. I like the ones that almost look like they were in, like, your grandmother's, like, like, house, where our styles differ. I like when you sit in nice and easy. I hate. Dude, I'm gonna be honest. I cannot stand the electric recliners. I want to lever pop it, feed up.

[00:59:54]

I want to hear the spring. I want to hear the springs when I start rocking back and forth.

[00:59:59]

Yeah.

[00:59:59]

I'm all for grabbing a little bit of recline time whenever you can and not feel guilty about it. And you certainly don't have to be an athlete to have a reason to relax.

[01:00:09]

We all push ourselves way too hard and deserve to kick back.

[01:00:13]

There's nothing like that feeling after a long day and hitting the recliner. Putting your feet up, man.

[01:00:25]

Take me back, baby. Everyone has a reason why. They've earned the right to relax, and you shouldn't feel guilty about it. It's cool that somebody is standing up for our right to sit down. I like that little banger, and who better to do it than la z boy?

[01:00:41]

Take a look on la Z boy.com or stop into your local la z boy furniture galleries for the most comfortable stuff out there. Long live the lazy Jason.

[01:00:53]

You want to get into the. The running back market for sure.

[01:00:56]

We've. We've heard for a while now. There's a narrative out there that the running back position has been devalued. You know, you just became the highest paid running back in Eagles history by notoriously a Gm that does not like to pay running back. So congratulations.

[01:01:10]

All right, now.

[01:01:11]

Yeah. Do you. Do you think it's starting to shift, or do you think it's. I I mean, I guess I'll lead this a little bit.

[01:01:17]

You.

[01:01:18]

You already said this a second ago. I feel like it hasn't been devalued for guys that can do a lot, you know? I mean, like, you're a weapon. You're not just a standard running back. You can be that, but you can do everything else. Is that fair to say that?

[01:01:31]

Yeah.

[01:01:31]

That's where it feels like. Those guys are still premier players like McCafferty, you know, yourself. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:01:40]

Check it. Yep.

[01:01:41]

Yeah. I agree with everything that you're saying. 100% and yes, for the guys that are able to do multiple things and view it as a weapon, I don't think that the market. Cause, like, I'm not gonna get into numbers and what teams offer me and stuff like that. Obviously, I'm happy with the decision I made, but it's like, like I said, there's a media look on it, but it's like, when I got to the open market, like, what I believed in myself, and that's why I didn't set what the giants offering before. I felt like I can get more. Yeah, it was like, I had a good bit of teams, you know, that really was, like, all about me coming there and with the price point being up there, I think it's a trend. It's just like the thing that was said last year, I kind of think there's some little b's behind it, because, you know, all the premier backs got tagged last year, so we had no chance. We had no chance to get paid. And it's like, all right, and then when you get tagged, like, being tagged is the worst position to ever be in, and anything, like, you have no leverage.

[01:02:41]

It's really, like, they offer you this, and it's like, what are you gonna do if you're not gonna play?

[01:02:46]

Yeah.

[01:02:46]

And it's like, who's gonna turn down $10 million?

[01:02:49]

That's tough, man.

[01:02:49]

Doesn't make any sense. But I'm happy where, like, what I was able to get and, like, shout out to my agent and shout out to my team, like, they worked their ass off for me. I felt like, you know, did I go and beat Christian and, you know, reset the market? No. And that's, like, if you heard what I said before the year prior, like, my whole attention was to never reset the market.

[01:03:06]

Like, to get the value that you deserve.

[01:03:09]

That I feel like I deserve. That's something I felt like was fair for me, and that would take care of me and my family. That's your goal. You won't get to the second contract. But I feel like where I got, it's like, all right, now, Bijon Jamir Najee, like, ya boys, like, go beat me. No, no. I mean, I'm a competitor. Like, I'm trying to go out this year, especially with the situation I'm in now. I'm trying to be the best running back. Like, no question about it. But, like, let's push each other. Let's all drive it. Like, it's easy to say what they're doing to the running backs is not fair. And I don't believe there's guys, and I'm not taking shots of anybody, but, like, there's receivers and positions, like, who have 600, 500 receiving yards or this amount of stats, and, like, they get paid more than running backs. And it's like, it really is crazy. Yeah, but like, even like, like, same thing with tight end is like you, you're not just a tight end, you know, I'm sounds like. And you got wide receivers that are probably making a fuck ton more money.

[01:04:03]

Than you with less production.

[01:04:05]

Yeah, and it's not fair, but now it's like what I got, like, all right, like I said, b John, nyji, Jameer, all those guys, go do, go do your part, go do what y'all gotta do. And then we're gonna keep trending upward. I'm not saying we're gonna get the twenties and the thirties. That was my big thing with, you know, tiki. That was my, like, my thing with Tiki. It was like what he says, like, you're tiki, you're ex running back, like you're an ex NFL player. Like, I get fans being upset about me going to Philly. Like, obviously don't get the business out of it. Like they're trying to really make it seem like it was me. I picked the Giants over Philly.

[01:04:42]

Yeah. Like out of spite almost. It's like, come on, I didn't have.

[01:04:45]

Like, first of all, the Giants didn't even offer me. Like they didn't, like, it wasn't my option. I had four teams, but like, the Giants weren't my option.

[01:04:52]

Yeah, that's wild.

[01:04:53]

But tiki, like, you use that moment to like, it wasn't even what he said. Cuz he's like Chung the cheek. Whatever he said, it was trying to be funny. It was a week, it was a week leading up to that before when it first came out that the Eagles, I had interest and he's like, you're gonna be dead to this fan base. You're gonna do this, you're gonna do that. It's like, I love seeing NFL guys, I love seeing ogs, I love seeing you guys. Like, you have a platform and like, this is a place where, you know, you know, ball, you can talk, you can educate fans. It's like, yeah, maybe use that time to show. Maybe this is why Saquon is going to feel or maybe this is why he's going to use it. The business side of it. Use that to show is like, like, I'm not saying you got to have loyalty to me because I don't, I don't care for that, to be honest. But like, you are ex NFL player, you are an ex NFL athlete. It's like, don't feed into the B's. It's like, let fans do that.

[01:05:41]

Like they're supposed to do it. They're emotional. Honestly, if fans wouldn't be mad that I went from New York to Philly, that means I did nothing. When I was in New York, whether off the field, was on the field, off the field. Like, that means I made an impact at some point. That's the reason why fans were so torn apart about it. And, you know, I see, like, my jersey getting burned, my family's getting threats, like my house. It's like, oh, yeah, I see that part of it. So it's like, we grew up in.

[01:06:02]

Cleveland, so we've seen a whole bunch of LeBron jerseys getting burned, and all of a sudden he came back and.

[01:06:06]

Won a championship for it.

[01:06:08]

Good thing I didn't burn mine.

[01:06:11]

I'm not saying I'm on that man's level. I'm not saying Brian not.

[01:06:14]

He's a whole.

[01:06:15]

Yeah, he's a whole different beast. He's a whole different beast.

[01:06:18]

Yeah.

[01:06:18]

What I was basically trying to say to get to, I guess, was, like, the running back market, what they're doing, how they value, and it's like, it's easy to say it's not fair, but it's on us. It's on us to change the narrative, is on us to go out there and go ball. Stay healthy. Go ball. And, you know, it wasn't like a big drop off, like where Christian and Alvin, those guys getting, like, it could have been a big drop off, could have been 810, but it's twelve and it's 13 or whatever. It's like now, like, okay, like, all right. Like Bijan, all them young boys. Yeah. I do what y'all gotta do in the needle. Keep moving the needle.

[01:06:49]

Is this. Is this fair to say, too? Cause I feel like there's more opportunities now for the running back potential than ever. I mean, I know more teams are going pass heavy unless they're Shanahan style offense, but, like, defenses continually go to these shell, middlefield open defenses, and I feel like the running back is like your best friend, whether you're running it or throwing it. When people are in the two show.

[01:07:10]

Right, they drop back and nothing's there. Drop it off, and they want to stay in that. And you have a really good running back and, you know, a good scheme. Run the ball on them, and then it opens up the pass game.

[01:07:21]

I've never understood, too. Like, even if you got a backer matching you off the ball, like, bro, throw it to this dude to make that guy make an open field tackle, like, it's going to be him one on one. Now, that ain't good enough. You got to have somebody else down there.

[01:07:36]

We like that, but we like, well, congrats on moving the needle and doing your job, brother. I think it's. It's awesome to be able to keep stacking and, and keep making that position get the value that it's, it's deserved because it's, you know, already know. It's been sick for everybody to kind of see that throughout the league. Knowing how much of a wear and tear you guys take between the tackles and how much you guys really can do to help a team win, man.

[01:08:02]

You know, there were a lot of running backs to change. I feel like, I mean, damn near half the league, the running backs, like, switched over. Are there any guys that you're, like, excited to watch in, like, their new places?

[01:08:13]

Yeah, I'm excited for all of them. I'm excited to see what Swift can do in Chicago. I think that's a unique spot over there. I like what they're building there, too.

[01:08:22]

Jacobs over there.

[01:08:24]

Yeah. I'm a big fan of, I'm a big fan of Jacob's game. I'm excited to see all the backs. Like, I'm, when I say this, I'm actually a true fan of the game. Yeah, I like watching those guys. Like, I generally like watching, like, Christian, like, studying him or, you know, studying Derek, studying those guys, seeing what they're able to bring the table, and it's.

[01:08:41]

Like, got that educating yourself, got the air you died mentality. Yeah, I see you.

[01:08:47]

So it's like, I want all those guys to go out there and ball because, like, that pushes me. That motivates me. It's like, at the end of daily, I said it before, during super, like, Christian McCaffrey, in my opinion, is the best front back in NFL. That pains me to say, because I'm competitor, and, like, this is the era I'm playing in. I'm playing the same time as him. So it's like, I don't want him to be number one. So it's like, respect, watch, learn from him. I could pick up some pieces, and that's a drive and motivate me to try to, you know, get to Philly and be like, all right, let's really see who the best.

[01:09:12]

It's all up here, baby. It's all up here. Yeah.

[01:09:17]

Let's get the no dumb questions.

[01:09:19]

Let's answer some not dumb questions, because there's no such thing as dumb questions, just dumb people. And we got a smart one. With us, ladies and gentlemen. Us two dummies over here answering these. Half the time, no dumb questions is brought to you by buffalo wild wings. Let's go, sports bar. Brandon, don't even. That was ridiculous.

[01:09:42]

All right.

[01:09:42]

We're getting better at that, though. We're getting better at that. For this one, we thought we'd do a throwback and bring one of our favorite questions for Saquon to answer at Vink Isaac.

[01:09:54]

Yep. Nailed it.

[01:09:55]

Could an average person gain 1 yd on a rushing play in the NFL? Yeah, the average person. Look at Jets Jake right now.

[01:10:09]

Jet Jakes, come on camera so we can see what you look like.

[01:10:11]

Jake.

[01:10:12]

Go on. Come on up here.

[01:10:15]

I feel like I gotta say yes now. I'm just dissing.

[01:10:20]

He's a Jets guy himself as well.

[01:10:24]

You play any ball back? No.

[01:10:27]

There we go.

[01:10:28]

If you had it like, run a 40 right now, like under 6 seconds.

[01:10:31]

No chance.

[01:10:31]

No chance. So you just, you're not helping the cause at all. How'd you think about it? What's the play? What's the like, what's the 2020 vision?

[01:10:40]

That's a start.

[01:10:40]

What's the play I got I can't like, actually, I gotta say, there's a game I had because of New York jets at 13 carries in one rushing yard.

[01:10:49]

Holy cow.

[01:10:51]

And I would say I'm a pretty good running back.

[01:10:54]

At least you got one.

[01:10:55]

So you're probably. Probably not getting. Yep. Yeah. Average person, probably not getting 1 yd.

[01:10:59]

He's out. All right.

[01:11:01]

Had to think that one through.

[01:11:03]

I think about it sometimes. Cause like, if any, like if a guard in a tackle destroy a double team, like anybody could probably get a yard, but you gotta take them to get to the getting it and how fast everything changes best. Oh, gosh.

[01:11:20]

They wouldn't even know.

[01:11:21]

Like if the average guys.

[01:11:22]

Jets Jake, if it's outside zone, no shot.

[01:11:25]

A shot with. My bad, Jake, I love it. You're above average in my, in my heart.

[01:11:31]

Above average person.

[01:11:32]

Way above average person.

[01:11:33]

That's what matters.

[01:11:34]

We don't. Yes.

[01:11:35]

We don't.

[01:11:35]

Yeah.

[01:11:42]

Oh, my gosh.

[01:11:43]

Classic. Classic. No dumb question. Just my dumbass. That was. That was. No dumb questions. Brought to you by buffalo wild waves. Let's go, sports bar. Nice. There you go. I picked that out.

[01:11:57]

Now we're on to our second question segment, which is we got to ask. But you don't have to answer. Yeah, you don't do emphasize. You don't have to answer.

[01:12:04]

Okay.

[01:12:05]

We got to ask. You don't have to answer. Is brought to us by our friends over at accelerator active energy drink, giving us the energy to do the show for a couple years now.

[01:12:14]

All right.

[01:12:15]

Yeah. Go out and find some accelerator activity.

[01:12:17]

How do you like that?

[01:12:18]

It's good. It's really good.

[01:12:19]

Oh, he's got a really. Oh, he's got a cherry limeade over here.

[01:12:22]

Cherry Limeade's not bad. They gotta get that.

[01:12:24]

Not bad.

[01:12:25]

Actually. Cherry Limeade's the best one. That's what that is. It looks like it's what.

[01:12:30]

No, he's got the cherry limeade.

[01:12:31]

Okay. Gotcha. Okay. You got the. The grenadine?

[01:12:35]

Yeah, I got Shirley temple over here.

[01:12:38]

All right.

[01:12:38]

You can find accelerator active energy at hy v, quick trip, giant eagle, and Amazon. It's expanding to these distributors now.

[01:12:45]

Hey. Oh, yeah.

[01:12:47]

All righty. Question.

[01:12:49]

Everybody wants to know who can squat more, you or Jalen? Hurts.

[01:12:54]

Ooh, that's not even close.

[01:12:56]

You think it's not even close. Jalen. Jalen's got you.

[01:13:00]

No.

[01:13:00]

What?

[01:13:01]

No, I'm like, I don't do that. No, I don't do that no more. But, like, when I'm in my. When I was, like, really in that mindset of squatting and, like, squad off, I'll put myself up there with a lot of people.

[01:13:13]

I'm watching this clip of saquon squatting, 585 right now.

[01:13:18]

Was that in college?

[01:13:19]

No, that was.

[01:13:19]

No, this is the pro and difficult.

[01:13:24]

I don't. I don't like, I don't max out anymore. Like, stuff like that. Like, that's like when you. Those days are one of those days where it's like you like, oh, let's just push the fucking needle a little bit. Like, let's put something on and try it.

[01:13:35]

Yeah, just put a car.

[01:13:36]

Jalen strong for. He probably the strongest quarterback in NFL you could score. Ever see both tebow squatting? Tebows a bit. Pretty big, dude. He had to be the quarterback. Wow.

[01:13:47]

Well, you know, Jalen powerlifted when he was quarterback.

[01:13:49]

I'm a quarterback.

[01:13:50]

Wow.

[01:13:52]

What?

[01:13:52]

I shot.

[01:13:54]

He too. He moved to tight end. He's last.

[01:13:57]

Yeah, bring it together.

[01:13:58]

His last game was a tight end. That's all I'm saying. I do a touchdown in the playoffs. All right.

[01:14:05]

After watching those two clips, that 585 squat was. Was damn impressive.

[01:14:09]

Jalen's pretty strong. He don't got Tebow too.

[01:14:11]

He's my favorite college football player behind Cam Newton and Reggie Bush.

[01:14:17]

I'm a better one. Squad, like one rep. Max same. Yeah, I'm not like you're more explosive. Put it, what? Put it on. Give me the number. Sit down and stand the fuck up. Like. Yeah.

[01:14:29]

Do you know, do you know what the most you've ever squatted is?

[01:14:32]

The most I probably ever put on my back was in the 600s, but it's college NFL. I never really do. We don't do one rep, Max. Yeah.

[01:14:40]

Only out of bar. You can't put, kid. The weights don't even fit on the bar at that point.

[01:14:44]

Yet.

[01:14:44]

The bands holding it on at that point.

[01:14:46]

Yeah, right.

[01:14:47]

Yeah.

[01:14:50]

Just looks like a u. When you pull it off of the rack, you use the Valsalva technique. It's where Jason.

[01:14:57]

Fill up with air. Fill up with air. You might be.

[01:15:02]

And then, well, listen, I guess when.

[01:15:03]

You got quads is good as Saquon. You don't need to.

[01:15:07]

Yeah, we had to use everything we can, every technique that we possibly could. Have you ever flexed out?

[01:15:15]

What does that mean?

[01:15:16]

Like, you, like, and then, like, you get, and then obviously you get real lightheaded info. Yeah, it's a thing on tick tock.

[01:15:27]

I never, I haven't, I've got lightheaded.

[01:15:29]

One of my favorite segments.

[01:15:31]

I don't think I really. Everybody just passed out flexing out. I had, like, the, you know how we had, like, this thing called art fest and, like, it was a time where everybody would go out and party and, and, like, around the same time, we'll do our max out week. So I had, like, those are the weeks where it would be more of, like, they gave you power. You got it.

[01:15:50]

You really maxed out.

[01:15:51]

Probably. I think about it, like, in college, you were able to do some, some cool stuff. It was different.

[01:15:57]

You ain't lying. Who is in your running back? Mount Rushmore. You can put yourself. I got shamed. I got shamed for doing it, but, like, you are, you can't put yourself in shame.

[01:16:11]

Yeah, I'll be real. Yeah. You. You're definitely for sure up there and top four. Me, not yet. I haven't done anything. In my opinion, hopefully going to Philadelphia.

[01:16:21]

Eagles, you know, might change that.

[01:16:23]

Yeah, change that up. Save my legacy.

[01:16:25]

I can see it right now.

[01:16:27]

But Mount Rushmore. All right, I gotta go. Barry. Barry's best player of all time. With the ball in his hand.

[01:16:35]

Yeah.

[01:16:36]

The best running back of all time. I'm talking about pass blocking, inside attackers, outside tackles, catching Walter paper.

[01:16:45]

Okay, sweetness.

[01:16:46]

Sweetness.

[01:16:47]

This one gets tricky. Cause there's one that, like, you have to put up there. And my manager shaking, said. Cause he probably know how to say you have to. And, like, I know people, like, argue. Like, well, he played back in that time, and you gotta go, Jim Brown.

[01:17:03]

Jimmy.

[01:17:03]

Yeah.

[01:17:04]

Jimothy. J him gotta go j I mean.

[01:17:07]

You'Re talking to two browns fans, so.

[01:17:09]

Yeah, and then he was. God, Emmett has, you know, the record, right? I love Curtis Martin. I'm not saying he's up there. Curtis Martin's like. Like, one of my favorite running backs. Do I go for Marshall?

[01:17:25]

Lt, man, I was about to say lt.

[01:17:28]

It's lt or Marshall falk for me.

[01:17:30]

Yeah.

[01:17:31]

It's if I know, as you said, four. But I'll say four a, four b. Like, that's. That's it.

[01:17:36]

Yeah.

[01:17:36]

Jim Brown got to be in there. Yeah, I know he did a time, but, like, I was written, I have a book, and, like, my. Like I said, my son was football, and, like, it's like the NFL top 100 book. And, like, I was just going through it and showing pictures. He's always like, dad, dad, football, football. Like, we're looking and, like, they just had, like, Jim Brown stats on it, and I was like. Like, he led to the league in Russia, like, only play, like, eight years, and you let it. I'm pretty sure, every single year. And he was, like, a three time mvp.

[01:18:02]

Yeah.

[01:18:02]

Like, I don't care. That's. That's not easy to do.

[01:18:06]

And is and can act.

[01:18:08]

Yeah, you can.

[01:18:09]

Yeah, that's right across the Syracuse also hold up. And he. I think they only played, like, 14 game seasons when he was in the NFL, too. So his, like, stats are still.

[01:18:24]

Yeah.

[01:18:24]

Like, imperative with too much games, but.

[01:18:26]

But that at the same time, he did play with white DBS.

[01:18:30]

Yeah.

[01:18:30]

I mean, there's new one which is.

[01:18:32]

Coming back around, coming. It's coming full circle. Listen, the same might hold up then. It might keep holding up, I believe.

[01:18:42]

When I see it.

[01:18:47]

All right, we could show up to.

[01:18:50]

30 seconds of NFL footage on this show. What 30 seconds of saquon footage should we have on?

[01:18:56]

Ooh, what's your favorite highlight?

[01:18:57]

All right. One that shows the type of player I am. It'll be against you guys or us now. I gotta get used to this. Us now. Rookie year, caught a screen. I didn't score, but I had, like, a pretty dope screen against Phil. There's a chip screen, and I, like, cut across the field and.

[01:19:18]

Yeah, I think I vaguely remember exactly the one you talked about because I always watched his games.

[01:19:25]

Setting up a screen for Barkley, blocking.

[01:19:28]

In front, first down, and more into eagle territory. Still going incredible. Yeah, I was. That's another one. You get up out of your seat, like, good he. You just hear Berman in the back. You're like, good. He. Go, oh, stop.

[01:19:46]

I was. I was so. I don't think I've ever been more tired after a play than that play.

[01:19:51]

Oh, man. Yeah. I mean, you were going, like, almost numbers to numbers.

[01:19:54]

It was like high school. Like, yeah. It was not the level I'm saying.

[01:19:57]

Like, that's just dope. We did a little digging and saw that. March 14 is Saquon Barkley day. Who in Pennsylvania? You already have your own day in Pa. That's dope. What goes down on Saquon day? How do people celebrate in your hometown? They just squat?

[01:20:18]

No, just trying leg extensions.

[01:20:20]

Get those bmos.

[01:20:21]

Firing the shortest shorts possible. Get the quads out.

[01:20:24]

How do you guys know that? Funny story. The day I signed Philly was March 14. It was Saquon. Yeah.

[01:20:32]

Nice.

[01:20:33]

I told my mom that. I didn't want people to really know that.

[01:20:40]

But it's not like you celebrate.

[01:20:41]

It was one day, and I was going to rookie my rookie year, and I went back to my hometown and had, like, a parade and had to do, you know, all that good stuff and talked to the town. Why do I have a day? I don't know, but, hey, I'll take it.

[01:20:55]

Your hometown knows. I've been trying to convince Philly to get a Jason Kelsey day.

[01:20:59]

I think. Yeah, I think we need one.

[01:21:02]

The Jason Kelsey day is you're not allowed to celebrate Jason Kelsey day. That's what you do on Jason Kelsey. Go about his business as usual.

[01:21:12]

I have a question.

[01:21:14]

Yeah?

[01:21:14]

Who's had a drinking contest?

[01:21:16]

Who's winning at a drinking contest? I'm pretty sure I've beaten Jason the last three to five times.

[01:21:22]

He's completely made up. First of all, what's the competition? We're talking about chugging. Just chugging a beer.

[01:21:27]

So chugging. And then, like, toe to toe.

[01:21:30]

Toe to toe with what?

[01:21:31]

Like, who's going? Who's. Who's. Who's calling quits?

[01:21:34]

Oh, yeah.

[01:21:36]

More volume. I don't even think that's a question.

[01:21:38]

What? Yeah, what you think? Yeah. We're already down to 260. We're in class now.

[01:21:50]

Yeah, I know, but I'm.

[01:21:54]

It's March. We're in the same weight class right now.

[01:21:56]

I don't think you heard that.

[01:21:57]

He said you definitely are. You're more in grain. You've been drinking more than I.

[01:22:01]

He hasn't stayed out past of 10:00 p.m. Since 2017.

[01:22:07]

Did you not see me at your playoff games this year? Do you not see me at your playoff games issue?

[01:22:11]

Do you remember any of that?

[01:22:13]

Well, I. But no, because I was drinking all day.

[01:22:16]

This is good. I love back and forth.

[01:22:18]

We're gonna have to get to the bottom of this. We're gonna have to get to the bottom of this. I'm drinking games. I will destroy him because I got the mental advantage.

[01:22:27]

You're not beating me.

[01:22:28]

I'm the older brother. Beer pong. I'm not being in for sure.

[01:22:32]

Not if you had a shotgun. Beer. Who's winning?

[01:22:35]

I'm shocked. Travis. Cheating.

[01:22:38]

It was what.

[01:22:40]

Who's.

[01:22:40]

What game was that? Was it bills?

[01:22:43]

We didn't shot. Gonna be after the bills game.

[01:22:44]

Did we see this.

[01:22:50]

Victory and all? Game.

[01:22:53]

You had a shirt on at that point, so. Yeah. All right, well, it. It's on like Donkey Kong, motherfucker. We're gonna figure out. We're gonna enter ourselves into this drinking contest. Maybe at the shore or something. Ooh. Are you. Are you a beer guy?

[01:23:10]

Yeah.

[01:23:11]

You. So you're. So you're saying this like, you could probably hold your own.

[01:23:15]

Yeah.

[01:23:17]

We might.

[01:23:18]

Penn State.

[01:23:19]

Yeah.

[01:23:21]

Okay.

[01:23:22]

Dry campus.

[01:23:23]

I don't know how much of it is.

[01:23:26]

I'm kidding.

[01:23:27]

I don't know. I don't know how much of a party school there are now.

[01:23:35]

So they're. They're definitely not doing it just off of spirit.

[01:23:38]

Right.

[01:23:38]

Right.

[01:23:40]

Games are fucking out of control. You bet, huh?

[01:23:43]

You've been.

[01:23:43]

No. Tv tells you everything. Tv tells you everything. Might need to get you to beer bowl.

[01:23:49]

Your dad is a die hard jets fan and has even worn jets jerseys to games where you guys played against them. If the Eagles played the jets in the Super bowl, who would your dad root for?

[01:24:01]

The jets. It's tough stuff's. Literally.

[01:24:05]

He would root for you to have a good game.

[01:24:06]

Right.

[01:24:07]

Okay.

[01:24:07]

I want Saquon to have a good game.

[01:24:08]

So he's a Jets fan because he's from New York, but the year he was born was 69.

[01:24:14]

There's no way your dad's like, get em. Tackle him, God damn it.

[01:24:19]

He doesn't even wear my jersey. I'm serious. He doesn't wear my jersey. He wears. I got him a Joe name it Jess Jersey. He wears that jersey.

[01:24:26]

I mean, it's a good jersey.

[01:24:27]

And that's Joe name it. The years they won, that's when he was like, we're gonna win the Super Bowl. I guarantee that in the third Super bowl, so he's never saw the jets win a Super bowl, so, yeah, I'm pretty sure my dad would. I would hope, you know, he'll be. Probably switch up. But if I had to take a guess, I think he probably will cheer for the jets to win a Super bowl, which is sad to say out loud. I love you.

[01:24:55]

At least, I mean, you understand it. You understand it. I get it. Are you still a big hurdle guy?

[01:25:01]

Yeah, now I am.

[01:25:03]

On the advice. From what your father even said.

[01:25:05]

Yeah. I'm gonna get back to hurling now, not your father.

[01:25:08]

My bad. I'd read that wrong.

[01:25:09]

Yeah.

[01:25:09]

Let me ask you.

[01:25:09]

Our dad banned Travis from hurling.

[01:25:11]

Yeah, he read the question wrong, and at the same time, dad. All right. Those are instincts that got me to where I am today. I'm gonna fucking hurdle somebody. First game next year.

[01:25:21]

I love it.

[01:25:22]

End up on my fucking head. All right, here we go. What do you got, Jason?

[01:25:26]

The league announced it was banning hip drop shackles today. Yeah. How do you feel about it?

[01:25:31]

I don't know why everyone's, like, bugging out about that. It's like, how often do you actually see that tackle?

[01:25:36]

Not that often.

[01:25:38]

Not everyone.

[01:25:39]

Like, everyone on social media, like, making a big ditto. Like, oh, we might as well just change it to flag football and this. And it's like, I can't. I probably only can tell you, like, in seven years, two times, I've been, like, hit, drop.

[01:25:50]

Yeah.

[01:25:51]

So it's like, I don't know how often that happens in the game. I could be wrong. I don't know the stats behind it. There's a reason why they banned it, I guess, but it's one of those things. I feel like every time during this year, there's a new rule. Everyone just go crazy over it, freaks out. We play the first preseason game, they're going to look and find for it. They're going to throw the flag just to show that they're doing it. And then you gonna get in the season is not gonna be a thing.

[01:26:16]

I hear you. I heard.

[01:26:18]

That's a very well reasoned and correct statement. Yeah. I still remember when they started really going after, like, targeting or, like. Yeah, I remember. Think I was kind of on the other side of that, where I was like, man, how. How is the defensive player gonna change this? Like, he's just trying to hit the guy. But to the NFL's credit, like, defensive players have, for the most part, stopped doing it. Like, they've. I mean, it still happens occasionally, but somehow they have been able to make that adjustment and I kind of. I'm with you on this. I think the hip drop feels weird because it's like, I don't think guys are trying to do that tackle when it happens, but I think now, you know, once people get penalized and fined for it, I do think guys are going to go out of their way to not do it, which should, in theory, reduce the amount of injuries when it does happen, even though it's.

[01:27:05]

You have your guys, that you have your guys, like, everyone knows, like, how this person tackle, how that person tackles, and they're probably gonna have to change it up a little bit, but I really don't like, they're like, how you're supposed to tackle Derek or tackle this guy and say, I'm pretty sure you've been a league way longer than me. You've been a league way longer than me. Like, really think about how many hip drop tackles like you've, you've seen.

[01:27:25]

I got. I got the eject button. As soon as I start to feel somebody right there, I'm like, throwing my feet out.

[01:27:32]

Yeah, right. I'm just like, get these feet up off the grass, man.

[01:27:37]

Fuck that. Like, I don't even want to think about getting tackled like that.

[01:27:41]

The only thing that I think is going to, what you just said, saquon, like they, they call it. They're going to make a point of emphasis on it. So are they going to call, like, guys when they're, like, rolling and it's really not a hip drop tackle, but they're going out of the way to, like, throw the flag? I think you're going to see a little bit of that early on and it's going to piss people off. But in the grand scheme of things, I don't see this being a huge deal.

[01:28:04]

Back in my day, you couldn't play. Back in my day, okay. You couldn't play, you wouldn't make it. DMSO, you know what that is?

[01:28:16]

Your breath will smell like straight egg salad all game.

[01:28:20]

We appreciate you joining us, bro. Man, even cooler in person. Wish you all the best in Philly, man. You deserve all the money in the world. You've been doing it the right way. Keep doing it the right way, man. And thanks for blessing the 92 percenters of me and Jason dog. We appreciate you.

[01:28:40]

I'm excited, bro. I mean, it'll be fun. Fun.

[01:28:42]

What a God, man. That shit was fun as hell.

[01:28:44]

I'll tell you, guys are actually funny.

[01:28:47]

Trying to have fun with it, man. He was awesome, man.

[01:28:50]

Dude, he's great. I'm gonna be practicing my drinking skills now just to make sure I WHOOP your ass.

[01:28:57]

I don't even have to practice, Travis. It's just what I do.

[01:29:01]

You.

[01:29:02]

It's.

[01:29:03]

I was the MVP at Cincinnati drinking games. I still think I got it. You're saying I don't got it anymore? I'm saying I peaked in college.

[01:29:13]

If you're not riding a bike, if you're not out there on skates, you don't know how to skate the same.

[01:29:18]

I think I proved in the post season that I still got what it takes. Listen, Mahomes said I was the MVP of the post. Super pun.

[01:29:28]

God damn it, Pat. Fucking feeding this man this nonsense.

[01:29:34]

All right, that wraps up another episode on new heights, everybody.

Once again, what's the first thing you're doing? What's the first thing you're doing?

[01:30:17]

Adriatic goes pizza.

[01:30:18]

Adriatic goes bear cat.

[01:30:20]

Yes. Yep. Maybe not a bear cat. I'm gonna need.

[01:30:25]

I've seen you eat a full bear cat food, which was an impression.

[01:30:28]

I was bigger than you right now.

[01:30:30]

You were enormous.

[01:30:31]

I was. Every bit. At 285 might have been the most.

[01:30:34]

Impressive physical feat I've ever seen you do.

[01:30:37]

I got back down to 250 and won a Super bowl the next year. All right, now, once again, new heights, presented by wave sports and entertainment and brought to you by Buffalo wild wings. [01:31:13]

Acting's hard, but, like, I think about it like this. Like, why can't I be the big swole dude that fights in every like. And just fights?

[01:31:22]

It can't be that hard.

[01:31:23]

It can't be that hard. You know what I mean? Just act like I'm getting punched in the face. Fight a little bit, end up losing, and then you make money off of it. I'm not trying to be Leo like you.

[01:31:33]

Trying to be the next creed.

[01:31:35]

Why not?

[01:31:35]

Let's go.

[01:31:37]

Let's make a story. I'm coming.

[01:31:39]

You're going?

[01:31:40]

Hey, that's.

[01:31:41]

Seriously? You just throw it out there? Stuff happens when it goes out on new heights. Just go speak into existence.

[01:31:48]

Just go over to the Philadelphia museum and just start running steps. Yeah, just punching, punching in.

[01:31:53]

Shit, dude, Philadelphia would go freaking crazy.
