There's always a chance to go get a bottle for someone that you love or yourself. Let's get right into the game tonight. There was a beatdown in the Bay, and it wasn't rendered by the 49ers. It was the Ravens that brought their show on the road. The first team with five picks in the game to season their defense, overwhelmed. The front runner at the start of the game, MVP, Brock Purdy, picked them off what looked like a very promising drive to start the opening possession. Ocho, Kyle Hamilton, made a great play on the ball. He intercepted it, and they really never looked back from that point. The offense scored seven points and scored points on seven straight possessions. The Ravens offense scored points on seven straight possessions and led by as many as 21, and I know the final score was 33-19, but the score, it wasn't indicative of what a demolition job the Ravens did on the 49ers. The Baltimore Ravens had won five straight games and can clinch the number one seed next week with a win against the Miami Dolphins. Ocho, when you look at this game, what was one of your what was a couple of your big takeaways?
Listen, obviously when I had picked, thinking about it, I had picked the Ravens to win the game. But then I thought about how could the Ravens win this game with a high powered offense, the jugged in our offense that is a 49ers. And the first thing I thought about when it comes to NFL games, it's all about matchups. It's all about matchups and schemes. And how well do the Ravens defense match up against the 49ers offense? It's all about personnel. It's all about personnel and the players you have at each position and how does each position match up individually. And they match up really well. But what scared me about this game is they had the turnovers early. They had the turnovers early. They got one touchdown to the turnovers, but they had two field goals. They had two field goals. I just kept thinking to myself, well, if you're just getting field goals, that is still get you beat, because the offense of the 49ers is very high powered. They had three interceptions, 49 went down to score and all of a sudden it was a one-point game.
Yeah.
You hadn't capitalized it all. So that scared me a little bit about it. Now I had tweeted it out. I said, listen, the Reigning. If you're going to get these turnovers, you're going to have to score points, not no goddamn field goals. Let's make it a barn burner and run away with the game. So defensively, you can force the 49ers to make mistakes and get outside of their game plan on what they really like to do.
Listen, they ended up winning Lamar. Now, Lamar is 21-1 versus the NFC teams in his career.
Yeah. I think the best in the stabler is the merger.
Yeah. He was 23 for 35, but 252, 22-2s, Z-Flow. Z-flow is nice, man.
Yeah. But the thing is you mentioned the 22 or 35, 2:32 is zero touchdown, but it was a clean game. No interception.
No interception, no picks. Z was 9 for 7, 200 TD. The Ravens have won nine of the last 10 games. Nine of the last 10 games, plus they had four sacks on purdy. Listen, the remaining schedule for the Ravens, obviously they had a gauntlet of games to play the last four. They got the Dolphins and the Steeles coming up. Right. That's another test. Another playoff atmosphere type game against the Dolphins, which has another high powered offense, just like the 49th.
Because the Dolphins won that number one seat also. They're like.
Hey, we'd be the- They want everything to come through Miami.
Yeah, you're right. You're absolutely right. The Ravens, they get five turnovers, four sacks, two on Purdy, two on Sam Donnell. But I thought to think, O'Tro, when you look at for the last five weeks, I think everybody had come to the conclusion. The two best teams in the NFL were the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. Right. Okay, I said we're going to find out what you got going on come Christmas. Right. Now when you got two teams and we're right here, what's the one thing that can put the other team way up on top of you? Turnovers.
Turnovers.
Yeah. Look at what the 49ers. The 49ers had been beating people. The Ravens did to them what they had been doing to other teams. When you turn the ball over that many times, O-2, it's hard for you to win. I don't care how great your offensive, and I don't care how great your defensive. The likelihood of you keeping them to kick field goals, that's great. But the likelihood when you got a guy that's won the MVP, he's in the MVP discussion right now, and now he's probably in the lead, considering the guy that and Purtip was in substantial lead in front of Lamar. But considering how bad he looked and how good Lamar looked, it's hard for me to see a scenario that he's not the favorite. I believe Krista McAfrey, who was in third, is now in second, considering that he looked good and Purdy look so bad. But Lamar, deservingly so, deserved to be in the MVP discussion because he was good with it. He didn't turn the ball over. He made plays. You see the thing is, Ojo, when I watched the 49th and I watched them very closely. They're a team that like to jump off the ball and go get the quarterback.
But if you see how they rush, they rush right down the man. They didn't want to give him lane that he can take off running. Well, you make the offensive line job very easy if you don't get on edges. So now all they just do is anchor, let you walk them back step by step. And now Lamar has time to survey the field. Because the one thing it seemed like they didn't want to do is give him a lane and let him jump out the window and take off.
Right. And this is what I liked about Lamar tonight, though. This is what I like about Lamar because coming out they say, Oh, he's a running back. He's a running back. But now his game has evolved to the point where now I'm a drop back passing and I'm not running the ball unless I have to, unless I have no goddamn hell and choice, hell, high water, I got to take off and run it. Then he out here acting like Houdini with it. Not only is he escaping the pocket. The 49ers had their game plan. Can I ask you a question? What was both to the night?
They rented the offensive line because Bosa likes to bend the edge. Yeah. Everybody wants to.
Bend the edge.
If I run up field, what do you think Lamar going to do? He going to step up in one of the He's in the pocket. Now, it's like, Ocho is going to be one of those game. Ocho, we're not going that pass rush. So everything's going to be quick, or we're going to try to run the ball. Then everybody look up say, Man, look at Ocho numbers. Ocho ain't have no chance to get the ball cover. The offensive line wasn't going to be able to hold up. You see, that's the thing. At the end of the day, and I understand what Steve Wilkes, the defensive coordinator was trying to do. He's like, Guys, we don't want to give him an edge. We don't want to give him lanes. We just want...
But.
At some point in time, you said, Look, guys, we tried it this way, and we can't get him on the ground. At some point in time, we got to change it up, Ojo.
They.
Said, Hey, Ojo, you got to go to the coach. The dude's sitting outside. I can't run the out. He's playing outside leverage.
He ain't cut.
Give me a dig. Give me something that I'm breaking away because he's playing outside leverage because he don't want me to run by, and he don't want me to run this speed out. Well, at some point in time, you got to say, Hey, guy, go get the quarterback. If the lane. If he gets the lane, he.
Gets the lane. That's on me if he does do. If he's on me, he does.
Because how many times did he by time finds a flower? By time find bateman. By time find Likael. What are we doing at this point? Give him credit. I mean, you see the side on throws. He was making plays and he didn't put the ball in harm's way. The 49ers put the ball in harm's way and the game got away from them. Like we've seen, the Eagles put the ball in harm's way, 49ers ran away from it. The Cowboys didn't have that many turnovers, but they read Seattle. Look at the team they beat. Normally they win the turnover battle. You can't turn the ball over five times against a good.
Football team. The Ravers are.
I believe the Ravers are the best team in the AFC. I believe they were the second best team in the NFL. Well, I don't think anybody's going to doubt now they're the best team in the NFL, considering they've just beat what many thought was the best team in the NFL. And they went on the road to do it.
Yeah, that's fact. They wouldn't leave our stadium to do it. I think they are the best team in the NFL. But what I think it is about hitting your stride at the right time. I also wouldn't count out the goddamn rams who are playing really good football at the right time. They're catching their stride at the right time. The 49ers, the 49ers won't be playing a defense like that of the 49ers. I think they-.
Like the.
Ravens, you mean? I'm sorry. Like the Ravens. I think other team that they will match up with, they can dominate based on personnel, based on what they do from a schematic standpoint. They can have an advantage. But the Ravens, for some reason, match up against them very well. Very well. I always say it's one thing to look at the teams that are playing, but then you look at the personnel, and if you understand the personnel and the players that they have, you know that they match up with their team very well.
Ojo, if you look at the first interception, his quarter's coverage. There's nothing to hold the.
Front-side safety. There's nothing at all.
I understand hes like, Okay, D-Bow's cross the back side safety face, but what's holding the front side safety?
Nothing. They had nothing there. Nothing. They had nothing there. Yeah.
I'm looking, I'm like, Bro, what are you seeing? First of all, we get a game plan, Ojo. We come in a situation. At this area of the field, this down in distance, this area of the field, this is the coverage they like to play. This is against this formation. Against this formation, they like to play this coverage. So you have a general idea of the coverage that they're going to play.
Based on down the distance. Yeah.
Down the distance, an area of the field. Bro, you drop back. It's quarters. The safety basically go drop straight back. I get it. You try to hold the backside, you flare one side and you run, I think it's George Kiddle, you run him like a square out. Now, the only way you can hold him is that if you have him push up higher, but if you notice the corner sunk on the back side. Now, safety doesn't have to do anything. He just see it. Kyle Hampton, thank you. Then the other two interceptions, bro, Stevens come, they run double slot blitz. Stevens come from one side, Marlin Humphrey come from the other. He gets his hands up. He passed the ball up in there. Purdy tries to locate it. Well, by this time, Marlin Humphrey then.
Jump- He didn't already got it.
Then the other one, Kyle Hampton is on the ground. He gets up off the ground off of Karen. You see how hustle? Yeah. You see what hustle does? I did not make that-.
Being in the right place at the right time.
But did you watch those 49ers, receivers? Did you see them going, George, get to catch that ball? Did you see how you...
Yeah.
Do you see Debo? Do you see those guys? We're going to talk about this later, but did you see the kids on Devante, Smith-run? Yeah. Did you see how he hit him on the DB on the 10 and pancake them in the ears on no joke. But in this game, kudos to the Baltimore Ravens. You're right now the best team in football, regardless of conference. Lamar Jackson is the MVP front runner, I believe.
That's what I was going to ask you. Basically, you can actually give it to him. We got two games left in the season, and obviously MVP is based on what you've done throughout the regular season. They got the Dolphins and the Steelys next. I think the showing against the Dolphins at home at M&T Bank Center, whatever it's called, where they play.
M&t Stadium, yeah.
M&t. I think he's going to have a good game. Based on his showing, he's like next to game, when you say Lamar Jackson would be the NFL MVP, regardless of statistics.
But you know that... Hold on. So you're telling me if he has a game like Brock, Purdy, he's still the MVP?
Well, I mean, he's not going to have it.
Did.
You think, Brock, Purdy was- Listen, offensively, the Ravens aren't a volume passing team like the 49ers are. The 49ers are. The chances of having a game like that is slim to none.
You know Brock Purdy throw the 26th most passes in the NFL, even though he was second in passing yard? For real? They're not volume team. They are running team. And think about the passes that they throw, Ocho. They're swing passes.
They're try to break three- Quick, quick, quick. Okay, I see you going with it. But you.
Got two games to go. A lot of things can happen in two games. But right now, as they're getting... They're showering and feeling good about themselves and rightfully so. Lamar Jackson is your MVP right now.
Okay.
He's your MVP right now. I got Christian McAfrey.
Is second. I'm going to go out on a limb. I'm going to go out on a limb and no one would have only been in two games left. The momentum, the confidence, the morale that the team has right now, I have a good feeling that that momentum is going to continue into next week, and obviously, it's going to continue on to the Steelers. He probably will be the MVP for the second time.
It's just something about the hair of the thing. You know the Ravers and the Steelers don't like each other. Oh, yeah. That's a.
Division rival. Yeah, I know about that. I know about that.
Look, you know how division rival games go, but there is nothing. I mean, this is like Michigan, Ohio State. This is North Carolina. This is North Carolina, Duke. This is a half field, McCoy. They despise.
Each other. Yeah, literally. Literally, they do.
Because the Steeles are going to probably need to win that game to make the playoffs. Right. Right.
Oh, shit. For real? That's right.
Because the Ravens clenched the division. Now they need this to make the playoffs.
That make the implications of that game even that much more serious. But still, yeah.
If I get a chance to it, let's see, not only can I clench the division, I can make sure somebody else have home field instead of you. Right. Hey, I get two birds for one. I get two for the price of one. But it's going to be great. Congratulations to the Baltimore Ravens go on the road three time zones. That's a long way to travel.
Oh, yeah. Hey, listen, it's going to be a beautiful flight home. I know that. It's going to be a beautiful flight home. If you had lost, you got to take that five-hour flight from the west to the east. Ain't going to be pretty.
And then getting home, I mean, it's already midnight on the east. They haven't even left the stadium yet.
No, not at all. Not They ain't going to take off until maybe, let me see, team, 53 players, staff got to unload all equipment. They probably ain't going to take off till about one o'clock.
Yeah, about 1:15, 1:30. Yeah, about that. East Coast time. It'll be 10:30, West Coast time. Because they travel east. They ain't going to get home until about 6:30, 7:00 a.
M. Easily.
Because that's what happened. We played Miami on a Monday night, and we had to come back to Denver. Mike's like, Okay, you got off. I normally come in. Hell, I just started. I've worked out. I got my stuff. I changed out about my clothes. I got me a workout. I see you all on Wednesday. Right. Hey, brother, it's already 5:30, six o'clock. I might as well just going to get me a workout.
Get it out of the way.
Get and be done with it. Congratulations, Ravens. Good check. Let the 49ers know, Hey, bro, there's some things we need to work on. Because at the end of the day, no matter how good we are, we turn that ball over, we become very average. No team has ever been good enough to overcome five turnover, especially when you're dealing with a Baltimore Ravens on the other side. Congratulations, Ravens. They're the AFC North champs and currently still the number one seed and Lamar Jackson, NFL front runner for the MVP. Ojo, we've already got 40,000 in the chat. What?
Yes, 40,000. 40,000 people. I love you all. I appreciate you. I love you. Make sure you subscribe.
Make sure you subscribe.
Guess.
What? 39,916 of my Baltimore Ravens fans. Exactly. Zackie says, Much love and respect, both Unk and Ocho. Lamar Jackson is the MVP of the League. The numbers don't tell the whole story. Several times tonight he's shown himself to be the chief. Zach, we said no quarterback is asked to carry a load like Lamar Jackson. He's for the most part, we already know he's the quarterback, so we know they're passing game. But he's also the engine of their running game. Even though what did he have tonight? He only had 45 yards. You look at the old show, they only had 26 carries. They had 26 carries for basically 102 yards. A lot of that was a scrabble. You remember he had that long 30-yard run.
One, right before.
The house that ended up getting him a field go rain. But yeah, we understand what's asked of Lamar on a weekly basis. Because no of the quarterback... I mean, can run like the other top quarterback. Obviously, Justin Field has.
Legs like he has.
But Justin Fields, that situation is what it is. But the top quarterback, the Burrows, the Mahons, the Herbert, that, who none of them is asked to shoulder a load like Lamar.
Yeah. And the funny thing, what I really like what they've done for Lamar, and they can even improve it more, it's the supporting cast that they put around him to take the onus and the load off of his shoulders on not having to run. Which is why I like the fact that he's now becoming what I like to consider more of a complete passive, because you have receivers that can get open, actually get open in one-to-one situations. You ain't got to scheme everybody because you ain't going to be able to scheme all the damn time.
We're going to talk about this a little later with the other team that we talked about. What did I tell you, Ocho? Yeah. The chiefs.
Listen, did you see all sides today? I'm just asking you, did you see all sides, the offensive today? Yeah. I have one more question. Did you see a drop ball today?
Yes.
Oh, yeah. Okay.
But you know the NFL, you see what happened, Ojo, and then all the teams started sending the offside plays in. They call more offsides on offensive wide receivers this year than I can recall. I don't remember that many calls in my 14 year playing career. Do you remember?
No, honestly, no. And the fact that it would go to our attention when the Chiefs had Cedarius lining up off-size, not everybody they opened the floodgates for the call every single time. You know it's funny? You know what I like to do? I can say it now because I'm not playing no more. I like to cheat the ball a little bit.
Of.
Course you do. I like to cheat the ball a little bit. Just a tad bit because I know the rest is what I'm going to call it. It's not egregious, completely off-size. I like to get a little air just a little bit.
Just a little bit. Maybe my face mask is over the ball. I'm not going to block his view. You just can't block his view. His face mask, he still can look down the line and see.
The ball. I can see it. Yeah. Yes.
Hold up, Red hood. You disappoint me thinking Brockworthy is as good as Lamar Jackson and thinking he's elite and pre...
Lord have mercy. I don't like... Before you even answer that, before you even answer him, I hate the comparison to quarterbacks. I hate the comparison to quarterbacks for the simple fact everything is stat based, for one, rightfully so, as you always tell me, because numbers don't lie. But the.
Skill sets- They don't tell the whole story, though.
The whole story. But the skill sets between Brock, Purdy, Lamar, Jackson are completely different. Completely different.
Remember when they were having this early on when he beat the Cowboys. I was one of the only analysts that said, Brock, Purdy is an elite.
Right. They were on your head about that too. Yes.
But here's the thing. They don't want to listen to what I have to say. They just want to take snippets of he said this over here, he said that over there. I never said Brock Purdy was elite. As a matter of fact, I was one of the few that said he wasn't elite. Second of all, just because someone is playing good, that doesn't make them better. You can have a better year than a quarterback and not be a better player. It is so hard to understand about that, Ojo. Right. There are a lot of people that won MVP during Michael Jordan tenure. Does that mean they were better players or they had a better year? That's okay. Same thing with LeBron, same thing with Kobe. You all got to stop this. See, you all trying to paint this picture now. None of you all jumped up and said, Shannon, thanks for supporting Lamar, because when everybody else was telling them to switch positions and go play wide receiver, I was the one to say, I saw the man win the husband trophy, throwing the ball and running it.
At the quarterback.
Position, right. At the quarterback position. I believe he can do that in the NFL. For the MVP, I remember his first playoff game against the Chargers, they were still in San Diego then, and they lost and he didn't play well. I said, the guy's a rookie and he's not right now able to throw the ball well enough in order to win. What did he do? He came back and from start to finish, he was the MVP, 36 and six. Thirty-six touchdowns, six interceptions. I roll with him, but they disregard all that. But see what you all want bottom line, and I'm going to go ahead and say it. See, you all got a problem with me. You all don't want me to critique black players. As long as I'm critiquing the white players, because when I was at Baker Mayfield and Tony Romo and all those white guys, you all didn't say, A-S-H-I-T. But now if Lamar Jackson plays good, I got no problem. If that plays good, I got no problem. But I cannot in good conscious, know the game like I know it, played it 14 years, and now study it as if I'm a coach.
See.
Something that's going on. I told you all from day one, the Cowboy is concerning because of Red Zone offense. What happens when the defense don't get pick sixes? Now all of a sudden, man, was right. But that's not what you said at the time. You said I was a hater.
Right.
When I told you from day one about the chief's offense, the skill position and the offensive line, shut up. What did I say, Ocho, remember? Man, if Valder, Scantley had to hold that ball, I said, Ocho, you got to be careful. Because if you base somebody's offense on one play, look at it at its totality. Look how many times they dropped the ball. Look how many times Patrick Mahal had to run for his life just to find somebody that was open or take off running.
Man.
You all stop this. I ain't got no agenda against Lamar. Yes, I played for the Ravens. This is how it works. I played for the Ravens. I played my ass off for the Ravens. I was fortunate enough, helped them win a Super Bowl. Now I'm an analyst. What is so hard to understand about that? Just like I critique the Broncos, played 12 years for them. I'm not going to stop, guys. I don't care what you all say, how many times you all said, I hate Lamar, I got an agenda. I do have an agenda to be the best at what I do. None of you all, nobody that's in this chat, no more football, and can break it down and analyze the game like I can. So you all use your criteria to how you all critique and grave players, and I'm going to use mine. Take off, Ojo.
It's hard to fall up behind a sermon like that. It's hard to fall up behind a sermon like that. But listen, I understand where people are coming from. I see I'm on both sides of the coin. Obviously, I think people think more emotion. They think more with emotion.
Feelings aren't.
Facts though. Yeah, feeling... Emotions and being a fan of obviously the team and the player. So they want it to be one way. They want your views to be aligned with theirs. And when they don't align with theirs, then there's a problem. Or you don't like this person, or you're hating on this person. But again, you have a job to do the criteria in which you judge and critique people is much different than those who are actually fans of the player and fans of the team. People have to understand that.
Yes. Marcus Holtz, calm down. I thought this was raving a fan. You've been fair with your critique. Appreciate that, Marcus. I like to think I'm always fair. But I just got to call it like I see it. It is, and I know it's hard to understand. I was the first one to say about the Eagles. You all didn't want to hear me. You all call me a hater. Eagle fans call me a hater. I say, You don't run the ball. Jaylin Hurst is turning the ball over too much, and your defense don't get to the quarterback and you don't take the wall away. So if you give it away and you don't take it away and you can't possess the ball to keep your defense off the field, you're going to be in trouble and you're not going to look as powerful and as potent as you.
Did last year. Last year, yeah.
We're the best team in the NFL, but never fully healthy. Jk has been gone. Mark has gone. Staley is part-time left tackle, and we still find ways. That's because of Harba. That's because the Ravens don't make excuses. I mean, when I went there in 2000, you play like a Raven. It doesn't matter who's in the ball game, you play hard. That's what John Harba, I can honestly say, those guys are going to play hard. Think about the great players that's come and gone from Jonathanugger, Ray Lewis, Zugs, Ed Reed, it doesn't matter who's in the lineup. It's what you have, the uniform that you have on. You have on that purple and black, or you have on that white and purple. Well, we know who we are. We know what we represent. The standard is the standard. You play to a level no matter who's in the game, no matter who you play. That's why the Ravens have been able to find success no matter who's in the ball game. They don't always win. You're not going to win them all. But if you play hard and you play for the man next to you, you're not going to have a problem.
Dan, Boyerick said, Did people miss when was lobbying for Lamar to get paid? No, Dan, stop. You make too much sense. I've been saying this shit past me. Hold on, how you not going to pay the man? You all let the ink draw on his contract and then talk about why he's not there. You all know why he's not there. Everybody else got contracts after their third year. Every other quarterback, Patrick Mahong, DeSianne Watson, Joe Burwell, Justin Herbert, all of them guys.
Yeah.
Jail and herce are solid. This man got to play the contract completely out and play on the franchise tag. Yeah? Come on, man, please. Let's get into this other game.
Which one?
Which one? Which one? Going to the Chiefs. Yeah.
Hey, Jack Jones. Jack Jones, I know you in the chat watching, boy. I know you watching. I need a jersey, baby.
Kansas City Chiefs opened the game with back to back three in our drive, and the Chief did not get a first down without a penalty until their fourth possession. The Chiefs finished the first quarter with minus 18 yards. The worst quarter by a team since the bears had minus 20 week 15, 2004. We saw my homes laying into his offensive line on the sideline. We saw Travis Kelsie get saw up, slang his helmet, and the equipment guy tried to go get his helmet, and Andy Reason, No, don't get him his helmet. He bumped him. He's like, Come on, man. You are a leader. We can't have you like that. I understand the frustration. That's what's hard, Ojo. Everybody's watching. Everybody's watching. They got more cameras when you and I play because everybody want to catch everything. That's why you got to cover your mouth on the side, because they don't read your lips. But you see the chief had an opportunity to clinch the division for the straight time and the Raiders. I think Antonio pierce deserves that job with the way he's coaching his team and the way they're playing hard for him. I think he deserves that job.
But you watched the chief and we've been talking about the Chief. You thought they were going to... You thought they were going to get this thing together. When you look at the Chief and we're going to touch on the Raiders also because we need to get them to file with also. When you look at the Chiefs, what do you see?
I see a team struggling. I see a team struggling similar how Lamar has to carry the load, but actually not as much anymore because of the support and chaos that he put around Lamar with the Ravens. I see Patrick by homes having to do more, having to do more with teams now. Okay, listen, we playing the Chiefs. What do we do? We're going to lock in on Kelsey. We're going to lock in on Kelsey. We're going to line up all alignments based on him when we break this huddle, and we're going to force everyone else to beat us. We're going to force everyone else to beat us because what do we have to do? What do they have to do offensively? They have the scheme ways to get their players open. Who do they have with the DNA? Or I call it the Fortitude to be able to do one-to-one matchups consistently, come hell or hot water. They don't have that. They don't have that. So it puts the onus and the pressure on Patrick at home. They have to create miracles, first down, create a miracle, second down, create a miracle, third down. And it's just not possible.
And now you're seeing the frustration boil over because everything is on his shoulders. And Kelsey can't do it all. He can't do it all. It's only so many times what you put on film is going to work. At some point, the NFL catches up to you. At some point, the NFL catches up to the offense that you're running in your tendencies. And that is what we're seeing now. Because there's nobody over there. There's no Tyreke Hill. There's no Tyreke Hill. There's no security blanket for him right now because the security blanket is Travis Kelsey. Oh, well, we take out the game. Yeah, we take him away. What else you got? What else you got? There's no disrespect to anybody else on that team offensively, but I'm just calling a spade a spade. There has to be another outlet that is a threat that poses some type of threat, and they just don't have that.
No, they do not have that. You and I both know this. There's only so many formations you can run. There's only so many times you can punch it or stack it. There's only so many times you can motion. There's only so many times you can get a three by one or two by two or three by two. There's only so many formations. At some point in time, you got to have a guy that says, you know what? Just go get open. Just go get open. They don't have that. You see, I'm watching DBs now. Dbs don't even get out of their back pedal.
They're not even moving. They're not even moving.
You got a guy that you know can throw the ball over your head. He said, but you all are not going to go down. You all are not going to run no routes to go get it. I'm sitting on everything. That's why the guy you was talking about how he picked it. Now, my home did throw it off his back foot.
That too. You didn't see the receiver falling away from the ball?
That's skyboard. Yes, he's falling back. He's falling away from the ball.
You got to attack the ball.
Lord, see, you and I here. See, it's little stuff like that, Ojo, that allows the DB to undercut and to make a play on the ball. Because Patrick Mahom is... Because now he feels, Man, I got to make every play. And he's taking unnecessary risk.
Putting it, do you know the Raiders score 17 points.
And.
Never completed a pass within those 17 points? Look, Patrick Moh homes, he has accomplished what he's accomplished. He's a two-time League MAP, a two-time Super Bowl winner with a Super Bowl MVP. But right now he's pressing and he's not playing well. And it's exacerbated because he doesn't have anybody that can bail him out. He doesn't have anybody that he could just dump the ball to or just hand the ball to. Like a Krista McAfrey. I mean, Brock Purdy was struggling. Krista McAfrey still ended up with over 100 yards.
Yeah.
My home doesn't have that.
No, they're going to have to address that. They're going to have to address that in the offseason.
They could have addressed it. They had an opportunity to get D-hop. D-hop? I don't.
Think the money was right. I don't think the money was right for D-hop. I'm just saying I don't think the money was right. I think they feel like, you know what-.
No, it wasn't. I'm saying, but you got to make the money right. Make the money right.
I see what you're saying. But they don't want to make the money right because they feel if Pejman can get it done because he did it without Tyreke before. So if we didn't have a dynamic player in Tyreke and he left and we still won a Super Bowl. I think we can get it done with the group we have in here now. But now, as you see this season, now you have to address it. You have no choice but to get a dog in there. You have no choice.
Nothing is more burdesome, burdensome, or tedious than expectations. Right. See, when Tyreke left, they didn't have no expectations. I don't think the homes can do it because look, he got a sky more and they had this guy and they had that guy. There wasn't the expectations to get to and win the Super Bowl like it is this year because Skymore is in the second season. Cedarius Tony has a full season in this system. Mbs has another year in this system. So the expectations this year were different than they were last year. And so now you see, Sky Moore is bad. He's regressed. Cedarius Tony has an injury, and he's not even dressing. Justin Ross, I remember Ross, he was a freshman at Clemson and did a demolition job on Alabama. He had an injury that caused him to miss, I think, an entire season, and he had some issues off the field this year that caused him to miss five or six games. But like you said, they take Kelsey away, and there's like...
Because.
Even Kelsey has been bitten by the drop bug. He had a ball, he jumped to catch it with one hand. Wait. All he need to do.
Is this. Just reach up. Yeah.
That's all he had to do. But all of a sudden, it's contagious, and everybody's dropping the ball. Nobody's put the offensive line. I saw that the first game of the season. Right. You sign a guy and free agents from Jacksonville who was just a guy. You get Donovan Smith, who's aging, who was old and hurt last year in Tampa, and you bring him in and guess what? He's old and he's hurt now. So you bring the backup in and he's getting blown by, by, Cooke every plate. Max Crosby is a different animal. I ain't seen nobody with a motor like he is.
Completely different animal. You know who you remind me of? Who there? Remember Jared Allen? Yes. Yeah. He might be a Jared Allen.
Allen used to be in Kansas City. I think I might have caught one year him. I'm not certain, but he ended up going to Minnesota.
Minnesota.
Yeah. But I saw Max Crosby line up on the offensive right side. They run a quick screen to Kelsey on the left side, and he make.
The tackle.
I'm thinking to myself, I say, I know Max Crosby just didn't make the tackle because I knew where he lined up at.
Yeah, on the opposite side of the goddamn field.
He made the tackle hit Kelsey dead in his face.
Yeah. I'm like, what the hell?
Now back to the Raiders.
I.
Still think they need a quarterback because they're wasting Devante. I was just going to say that. They're wasting Devante. Josh Jacob. I mean, white, red. I think that's... Hold on, let me see. Hold on. Let me get the staff here. I got new guys. I feel like I'm a Tom Cruise minority report. I'll be hitting the screen. I'll be hitting the screen. Yeah, that's what I'd be doing. Z White, 22 rushes a buck 45, 43 long. Remember, Ocho, Camp City was trying to get the ball back. He's like, I can get you all this ball back. Hold on, let's take this thing over. He ran the air out of the ball, ended up taking a nail down. So 22 for a buck, 45 for him, 29 carries, 157.
Ain't.
No counter. It was 9 to 21 for 62 yards. That just goes to show you turn the ball over. Yeah. They farmed before a touchdown through what? A pig six for a touchdown, have another interception that led to a field goal. That's 14 points.
Yeah.
So you score 14 again, it's getting very difficult for the... What? O-show. Man, you know, Kansas City, you already know you had to score 28 to 31 to beat them and them.
To beat them. Oh, yeah. This is just last year, man. This is just last year. The funny thing about it is, my homes has been that great. He's been that great where it's almost as if he's damn near immortal at the quarterback position. That's the way he's made it look so far in a short amount of time. To be able to win two Super Bowels, he's in what? Fifth year or sixth year?
2016 was his rookie season. My home. 2017 was his rookie season. He won the MVP in 18 because Lamar was a rookie in 18, won the MVP in 19.
You're right. So what he's been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time, how good hes, how good he is with all the throws. We're enamored by some of the things that he can do on the field. Winning two Super Bowels in such a short amount of time, it's almost become a thought that, well, we can have lesser talent around him because he is so great. But now at some point, like I said earlier, teams, they study you, they watch film, they understand your tendencies, and we say, well, you know what? The only weapon they do have is 87. So all we got to do is lock in on him. And there's only so much creativity you can do. Listen, when they were rolling offensively, they were doing all type of ring around the road and stuff outside the huddle. You can be creative when nobody knows what the hell you getting ready to do. Now everyone else is caught up. Everyone else is caught up. Now you have to have those boys in there where you can't scheme anybody together. You got to be able to line up and say, You got to win for me.
They just don't have that.
Right. I'm Sheryl McClellum, host of the Cold Case podcast, Zone 7. Join us every Wednesday to hear cases like the Long Island serial killer. Here, Kare Lawson, daughter of the notorious serial killer, BTK, weigh in on the accused Long Island serial killers children.
You show genuine interest, and you can't fake it, but these.
Guys can.
See right.
Through.
To your soul. You have to be.

Then, so.
They're going.
To have some difficulty putting those.
Cases together.
Unless, of course, he confesses. Listen to his own 7 with Cheryl McClellum on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
What's up, everybody? I'm back with year two of my podcast, the season with Peter Schrager. Aaron Rodgers, awesome. I know this was longer than probably expected, but I always love catching up with you. I like you, so I give you.
A lot of latitude.
In each episode of this season, I'm going to take you inside and behind the scenes on the conversations that happen at the highest levels of NFL franchises. We'll bring in top GMs and coaches and give you the story behind the story that you're probably not getting anywhere else. Like Brad Holmes, the GM of the Detroit Lions, telling us about their draft room before they made that controversial, Jameer Gibbspik.
In a normal year, you have two first round talent players. You might have about 17 or 18 guys. We ended up with 14 guys, but Jameer was always one of those guys.
You see, you'll be in the front office of an NFL team one week, but the next week you're going to be at a bar elbow to elbow with some of your favorite celebrities laughing about football like Kansas City Chiefs fan Paul Rudd. By the way, can I just point out how much I like the music of this podcast? It's awesome. It's very good.
It's like a.
Funky beat. Listen to the season with Peter Schreger on the iHeart Radio app Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Claire Crofton, and in my new.
Podcast.
The Fighty Pucks, we're going out on the ice with the most violent.
Hockey.
Team ever. That was guerrilla warfare at its highest. The Danbury.
Thrashers.
Wanted to win at any cost. Big take down. Big take down. All men were breaking loose here in thrasher pad.
He wanted to break every bone in his body.
Literally throwing him like a rag doll. Going bananas here at the Danbury Ice Arena. They can't restrain him right now. So are they heroes or criminals? You decide. I don't know what to say and I don't want to.
Get shot. There's the side, there's my side, and somewhere in the middle is the truth.
Listen to The Fighty Pucks on the iHeart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You and I are going to have a problem. Do you understand what I'm saying to you? Welcome to the jungle.ong, you better have the same smoke from Homeboy like you have for Lamar, and he won the MVP without receivers. I mean, if you look at it, I mean, look, I think Mark Andrews was there when Lamar won the MVP last year. Travis Kelsley was there with my homes when he won the MVP the other years. I think obviously had Tyraeke. I think Sammy Walkens was there also the year he won the MVP. But at some point in time, that catches up with you.
It.
Catches up with you. See, you know what happened, Ojo, is that people work had convinced themselves that Edelman and Amandola and Wes Wilker, they were just guys. They're not. They were really good. Now we base receivers on, if you're not Tyreek or you're not AJ Brown or you're not Chase or you're not JJ, Justin Jefferson, you're not any good. No. For that system and for what they need, they weren't good. They were great. Wilker was great. Go back and look at Wilco numbers when he got there. He was getting 125 catches. Yeah, a lot. Go back and look at Edelman.
Go.
Back and look at Edelman. Edelman. Those guys were really, really good given what they were asked to do. They were not outside the number of guys. They were everything they did was in the middle of the field. And you got to take... Go ahead.
That's basically when you think about the makeup of the New England offense during those Tom braided era, if you think about it, they wanted a few teams in NFL where everything was run from the inside out. Think about that. Everything was run from the inside out. So your number one is your read star from here, as opposed to other teams where you got dominant, where I received it on the outside, and you restart from one and you process from there on out. But when it came to them, you had Aaron Medo, you had West Wilkins, you had Aaron Hernandez, you had you're Grunks where everything went from the inside out, as opposed to how other teams operated. But go ahead and finish you all.
You're absolutely right. And what they would do is that then they catch you sneak in there like, Oh, I'm going to jump this inside route. And now they throw the ball to the outside. Think about when they had Randy, they didn't win the Super Bowl with the head Randy.
They went undefeated until what? That last game?
Last game against the Chants in the Super Bowl.
Yeah.
That's crazy. That's the thing is that just because the guy isn't first team all pro and he's not a perennial pro-ball player, that doesn't mean that he's not good. We've got to stop this notion where he ain't Tyreek. Who else?
Yeah, nobody.
You have to understand, remember, it was all fine and good when Randy was catching passes. The moment Randy started complaining, what happened, Ocho?
We got to go.
That's why I told him that. You have to understand, man, JJ and Chase and all those guys, man, they're not fixing to go no three, four games and catch two, three passes? Just shit.
At.
All. Coach Belichick understands. He's like, man, look, everybody ain't built for the Cold Loachow.
What.
I mean by that? Everybody's not built to play just because you're a football player and you're a great one, that doesn't mean you're built to play in New England. Everybody can't play in New England. Unless you've been there or talk to people like I have that have been there, then you can properly assess and understand that it's more than just talent.
To.
Play in that system. But congratulations to the Raiders. The Raiders did what they needed to do. I'm happy for the Raiders because I really want AP to get that job. I think he's deserving.
What do you mean? Think you want them to get it. I mean, it's a no-brainer.
What.
Is management going to do?
Ojo, we saw the same thing in Carolina with Steve Wilkes. When he took over for Matt Rule had him playing extremely well. He won a bunch of ball games once Matt Rule left, and the team, the players wanted him. What did he do? Was it Matt Rule? Who got fired if he came in? Hes what you're in for. Steve Wilkes, and they ended up hiring Matt Rule. Who got fired? Was it Matt Rule? Matt Rule got fired to Steve Wilkes filled in. Okay, yes. And the team played well and the players voted him.
This is different. The players need to voice their opinion. I'm sure they can. Listen, look what pierce has did since McDaniels has been fired. They're four and three. It's the first time the Raiders winning KC since week five in 2020. So if you have your players responding to a certain coach and playing at a high level without a consistent quarterback, a franchise-chaining quarterback, why wouldn't you bring them back? You got a player's coach, a player that knows the game, that played the game. It only makes sense. Who are you going to hire? Who are you going to go get that can do a better job than what Antonio pierce is doing with a team that doesn't have an elite quarterback at the helm?
You remember when they went and gave John Groot $100 million for 10 years? You remember when they just gave Josh McDaniel all that money? Yeah. Okay. The Raiders are about splash. They always want a name. They probably had more Heisman trophy winners on their roster. That's what Al. Al love Heisman trophy winners. He love big names. He love big-name coaches.
You.
Don't give a ten-year deal, O'Tso, we never heard of that. No player has ever had a ten-year deal. No coaches ever had a ten-year deal. He gave a guy ten years. He just gave Joshua McDaniel like seven years. Unless they're still going to arbitration trying to sort this thing out with John Grudon. But you might have to pay John Grudon $60 million. You got at least $60 million tied up in George McDaniel. He like names. He thinks that wins, doesn't. But the Patriot Way ain't no Patriot Way. The Patriot Way was Tom braided. The Patriot Way only works in New England. Look at all the coaches that's from Belichick tree, and it's a lot of them. Tell me the one that's won outside of New England.
Charlie.
White, Romeo Cannell, Bill O'Brien, Josh McDaniel. Josh McDaniel had two jobs and got fired halfway through the second year in both of them. One for cheating and one because he couldn't coach.
In Denver?
Yes. He tried to do what they were doing in.
New England. Yeah, that ain't going to work.
No, Mr. Mosley, no, you're not finna tarnish my reputation. That ain't finna happen.
Right. That's crazy.
Alan Shepard donated $50, and he wanted to ask, What's up, 85? Speaking of defense, did you see the Raiders pillage? Need a quarterback and work on the old line, but that defense has been a problem since they dropped the Patriot way. Yeah, the Patriot way doesn't work.
He.
Doesn't have, here's the thing also, Coach Belichick has been able to get by because you know, Ojo, once you win, it's like if I own a business that I'm the business is doing, sometimes the executive talk to the workers a certain type of way. Then you take it like, Well, we are getting nice paychecks, and we are the top company. Josh McDaniel thought he could go to Denver, probably thought he could take that same thing to Oakland, talk to people, the mean player, talk down to his coaches, give people his butt to kids and think, No, that ain't going to work, bro. Nobody going to want to play for you.
Definitely not. Definitely. It definitely ain't going to work if you don't have the quarterback in place.
No. That could pick up the slack for.
The areas that are weak. You had a lot of stuff and you got a great quarterback. Tom was different, man.
What, are we 43? We have 43,000 in the chat, Ojo.
43,000 people.
I love you. Let's get it 50. Call somebody. Call a family member. Call two family members of the friend. We try.
To get 50. Yeah, tell them to get in that thing real quick.
Hey, people, I see some of you all complaining about these ads. Row, how you think we make money?
Wait, what they complain about?
We putting ads in the chat. How you think we make money? Let me ask you a question.
Watch the ad.
Hold on, Ojo. How you think these networks make money? You don't have non-stop football? You don't say nothing when they score a touchdown or when they get an interception and they cut to a commercial.
Then commercial pay the bills.
Now you got two pro hustlers, Ankin Ocho trying to make an honest hustle, and you all trying to put the ads up. How the hell we.
Supposed to make money? I'm just trying to catch up on child support, man, that's all.
Well, I would have got old child support, but I need a little money. Guys, I'm sorry that we have to put ads in here, but that's the only way it takes. Ocho got a staff, I got a staff. The volume who I co-partner with, they got staff to have to cut this stuff up. It's doing this stuff with you too. Come on, guys. Cut us some slack.
Stall us out. Work with us now.
Yeah, work with us. Okay. See, you could always buy that YouTube premium. They don't have no ads on YouTube premium.
Hey, you know how much YouTube premium cost you think?
Don't start me to lie. Hell, I don't even know how much YouTube cost, let alone the premium. I know premium gas is higher than regular gas. That hot gas, gas. Yeah.
Before you finish, you talk about gas. I'm lost. What car you drive?
I got an EV from BMW M70.
Premium is like 98?
Yeah, or Premium is back in the south we call it the high test gas. That white gas. I think it's 23 octane. It's 93 octane, right? 93 octane. You might have gas. Let's just say you get gas that's 450, 479, 499 is that Hot tane. Now out here in California, I think it's $6 a gallon.
$6 a gallon for who?
If drive a car that requires premium credit, your car. That's why I got me an EV.
My.
Money.
Jump on it. Yeah, and you wonder why I've been driving a small car since 2006. Listen, I go fill up right now $14, 55 miles at a gallon. Park anywhere.
55 miles a gallon? I mean, it's going to take you two days to get somewhere.
No, what do you mean? My odometer speed, I hit about not hit about 105.
Man, you're hitting 105 in that. That's a red, red, stone car.
Hey, don't talk about my car like that. Don't do that. That's disrespectful. I ain't saying nobody's to be a nerd.
I ain't saying nobody's to be a nerd. I'm saying that to be a nerd. Ev though. That thing nice.
What EV is saying for?
Electric vehicle. My bad, I guess I should have said electric vehicle, but I thought everybody knew what it was. Okay.
Man, you know I ain't in the cars, man. Listen, I got my little smart car.
What I got? I got an EV.
You tried it on. I don't know what EV is. I never heard of that. You should have said I have a BMW, but it's electric.
Okay, I don't know what EV means.
I don't know what it means. I don't know what it means. Listen, I- That would be.
It means. I don't know what it means. I don't know what it means. I don't know what it means.
I'm probably sure I ain't know. It means to have a BMW and.
It's an electric vehicle. I don't know what that's about. I thought you do. My bad.
I'm sorry. No, you do. I'm not in the cause. I apologize. I know what it.
Is now. The YouTube premium is 15.99 a month. Man, come on, chat. That's a lot. All you all got to do. Can you all watch 10, 15 seconds of the ad? Hold on.
We know what we should do? Let's make a commercial where it's a commercial for NICAP and we are the ad. Can they do that or no?
I did that. In the leading up to it, I had to read for a draft king who's one of the big sponsors. Okay. I think that would be- Normally, as we move forward, we're going to have... If you want to do some read, you can. But I know.
How to read, good.
I know how to read. You can read out the problem?
Yeah, real good. I'm real good. I'm real good.
But that's the chat call of you, Fred Flintstone. But YouTube Premium is 15.99 a month. I don't know how much regular YouTube is. I don't really know anything about that. But that is free. But that's the price that you... I mean, guys, all the years that you all been watching sporting events, name the time that the game goes. Twelve minutes, quarters, 12 minutes, and it goes non-stop. Don't take no time out, and they don't show you no... They just keep it on the game, in football. Any change in possession, for the most part, they cut the commercials. How much you?
You got to pay them bills. You got to pay them bills every time.
I got to pay Ash, I got to pay Jordan, I got to pay Ocho, I got to pay... Damn. You all want me to pay the money out of my pocket on it?
But speaking of paying, I'm finna act a fool on my birthday.
What's your birthday?
My birthday is January ninth, and I'm finna do something a little different that I've never done before. I'm just thanking you ahead of time because what you make itbut you have been able to bestow upon me and allow my cup to run it over. I'm going to go ahead and bless myself and act a fool on my birthday.
You're going to buy yourself.
Something or you're just going to have a party? No, I'm going to buy myself something.
I'm going to act- What you going to get?
I can't tell you, but I'm going to cut up because you've been a blessing to me and I thank you. I'm going to go outside my box for a little bit.
Ain't no wrong with that. Hey, bro, this has been a blessing for both of us. I couldn't have done it without you. It works. It works because of who you are. It works because of who I am. We're different in a lot of ways, but in a lot of ways that we're similar. I appreciate you being a part of this, and I appreciate the fans for embracing us and giving us the opportunity to share some of the stories and some of our analysis on Three Nights a week. The Eagles beat the giants 33, 25-25. Tommy DeVito was replaced by Tyrod Taylor in the third quarter. Giants entered the half trailing 20-3, and Tyrod nearly brought them back. Nearly brought the giants all the way back. After tossing 133 yards at a touchdown, the Eagles's intercepted his final pass attempt into the end zone, and the Eagles were able to hang on to a victory. I like Tyrod. I mean, Tyrod was a starting quarterback. He took Buffalo to the playoffs. They lost the hardball game in the playoffs to I think it was a 9-6 ball game or 10-6 ball game to Jacksonville. The year Jacksonville almost beat New England in New England.
He's always been a very good backup. He was a backup to Joe Flacko in Baltimore the year they won the Super Bowl in 2012, if I'm not mistaken. I've always had a lot of respect and admiration for Tyrodd. He got bad luck because he was pegged to be the starting quarterback for the charges. He had a rib injury. He gets an injection and it punctured his lung.
Lung, doctor?
You.
Can't sue for that, huh?
Hell, yeah, you can. That's malpractice. Hell, yeah, he probably did. Hell, you can't sue. Did they You think he did? Hell, yeah. Yes.
Damn. Cost him a starting job?
That's crazy. He had potentially because he was a free agent. So it potentially cost him greater earnings.
Right. Right.
That's crazy. We won't get into that. Okay, you redeemed yourself. I remember you did say all that about Lamar. Damn, I hate to admit it. Thank you, sir. Thank you. You're one of the ones that will admit it. All the other ones, they won't admit it, even though they know I said it because they got a narrative going. We want to keep the narrative that Shannon hates Lamar. When all you all seen me stand up, you all remember when Colin Kaepernick? You all remember when George Floyd? When everybody else would shine away from it, how Skipp and FS1 let me stand on that platform and talk about it? You all forgot about that. But now all of a sudden, after I spoke so outgoing about it, now all of a sudden, I'm against my own people. Really? Really? That's what you all want to get going. Wow! Of all the things I could say, I'm sure there are some things out there that you can say, Oh, man, he talk. I don't know. He make me sick. He think he knows everything. I told you I don't know everything. I know a little bit about everything that's different.
I like that. Come on.
But you know what he is? I'm going to be okay, though. He asked another question day and day. Actually, unbelievable, we're at this point, people make things up. Is always one who says, Purdy is an elite. I said that to D. O. He's elite, has a quarterback, and this is what he's saying, Has a quarterback ever won the MVP not being elite? I said, yeah, Rich Gallowen won the MVP. Was he elite? No. There's another one. Matt Ryan won the MVP. Was he elite? Brian Syed won the MVP, NB for the Bingles, the Cardiac Kids.
No.
Ken Anderson. No. Ken Anderson, no. Just because you win the MVP, that doesn't make you elite. We need to see a body of work. It's a body of work that makes you elite. Right. So this notion we see a lot of guys, great receivers have one great year or running back or DB and then what? So no, one season doesn't make you elite. I'm a firm believer in that. I'mi don't stand on that. I'm not saying Brock party isn't a good player. I didn't even say that he couldn't become elite. I'm saying, as I'm giving you my analysis of it, he's not elite.
Yeah. I mean, the body of work is what comes into play when we talk about elite players, regardless of position. I'm going to go for the onus of talking about receivers. Receivers are elite. You can do it your first year, but can you do it when they know it's coming? Can you do it year two? Can you do it the third year? Can you do it when they game planning to stop you and you still get it going? That's when you know you elite. Yes.
When the deep coordinator get up there and they break it down and they circle. Now we got to watch 85 now. Right. He's great in transition. He can get in and out of breaks. He's tremendous run out to the catch. Now he ain't going to block that mud bag. So you don't try to rough him up in the blocking game, in the running game, and try to push him into the pile. But when you're explaining a receiver, you explain it. Okay, he'll go over the middle, he's tough, he's fiery. He's not the most physically gifted guy, but he's tough in traffic. He's tremendous transitioning. Getting in and out of break is what his specialty is. He has great hands and he's tremendous run out for the catch.
Yeah, he got a little scoot in him now. He got a little scoot in him.
That's how we look at it. Same thing we look at a DB. He's very handsy. He's strong. He's long-armed. He's going to try to ride you. We're going to start throwing some balls at him. We're going to double move him because he will bite.
He's aggressive. Yeah.
If somebody's like, Oh, he wants to sit on rocks, okay, we're going to pay. This is not about we don't care if we catch it. We just want to know we will throw this over your head. Yeah. We just want to plant that seed.
Right in his mind. Make you think twice about sitting next time.
Yeah. Tj to Stunna said, Ma'am, I got my uncle that Laportee from Christmas. He took one step and now he's stepping in the name of love all day. Still, I ain't going to take it. But okay, TJ, I really appreciate it, man. Thank you for the support. Mr. Sharps and Ocho, my incredible wife got me 85 cigar gift cards. Should I get the Boy Vita or the El patron to go with my La Porte for New Year's?
Yeah, get that Boy Vita. Get that Boy Vita, man. It represents obviously the good life for a reason. When you smoke it, you're going to enjoy it. It's very smooth. If you're not an experienced cigar smoker, obviously it's for the novice. It's smooth, not too spicy.
You mean novice?
Novice. I'm sorry. Yeah. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You got me on my. You've been.
Drinking tonight? You were in.
The port? Yeah, I just my little Red Bull real quick. I'm trying to stay up. I got a fight at 5:00 AM, so I'm trying to make sure I stay up. It's not too spicy. It's not too peppery. It's very smooth if you're not a connoisseur of cigar. So you're going to enjoy it. You're going to enjoy it. Right.
Ben said, Will you give Baker any praise? 3,500-plus yards, 26 touchdow, eight of exceptions, 96.2 QBR. Baker Mayfield has played really well. I think Baker needs to be the starting quarterback moving forward for the Tampa.
Bay Buccaneers. Yeah, long term deal.
He has a great connection. Now I don't know what's going to happen with Mike Evans. Mike Evans was very frustrated because he wanted a long term deal at the beginning of the season. It didn't get worked out.
You know how they.
Play games now. Mike Evans might be having the best career of his best season of his career, and he couldn't pick the better time to have it. But to think, you know how you get you start to get to be 30. They think you can't play no more.
They're going to play with you every time. Listen, that's the nature of the business. Not only are they going to play with you when you hit 30, you know what they also do? They also find a way to work you out the system. The opportunity is for some reason, all of a sudden you hit 30, the opportunity starts to decrease. What the hell is going on? I was the focal point of the offense. Now, if you look at across the league for years of all the great receivers that have never gotten hurt, just notice how the opportunities decrease in the first thing they come and say to you at the end of the season, Well, your production is starting not to look the same. It seemed like you lost a step.
You ain't never lost that. Yeah, I know those targets too. I know those targets did come away.
It was this. Exactly. And they do it every time.
But this is what they do to you, Ojo.
They.
Said, Well, you're getting a little older.
And.
You're not making the plays you once did. We were thinking about reducing your salary. I said, Oh, but you all want to reduce my salary. But you all want me to make the plays like I did when you all playing me a lot of money. Now you're not going to make sense, Ocho. So you won't cut my pay, but I need you to make them same plays. Same plays.
Oh, okay. Hey, boy, the business is a dirty game now. It's a dirty game, and they love to play it, and they play it very well. How you're saying? Listen, if you don't understand the game, they have you thinking it's something wrong with you. Yes.
I might add a homeboy. He told, hey, they wouldn't give him a contract extension. He said, For what you're paying me? That's the work I'm going to get you. They ended up trading it.
They.
Traded them? Yeah, they got to. He said, you all paid me 500,000. I make 500,000 with the plays. I don't can't get you all no million dollars worth of plays when you all give me half a million. But that's funny. Shannon, the thing that makes Raven fans upset is the fact that when Lamar plays, gray, Alan, Still. What does analysts say me? What makes you upset with me? I'm me. I'm Shannon Sharp. There are probably a lot of other analysts that analyze. But when you say other analysts, talk to them. I ain't got no problem. If I said something, if I misspoke, I'll own up to that. You all know me by now. When I'm wrong, I ain't got no problem. I've never been too big. I've never been too prideful. I've never been too great to say, I'm sorry, I was wrong. But you all got to miss me with other analysts. What did I say? If it's something that I said that I misspoke or I was wrong about, okay, I can live... I can't live with that. Especially when you said the Ravens aren't getting the money's worth, you thought they were getting the money.
Listen, when we ask a question, you do realize it's on a game-to-game basis. You think, Purty, based on tonight, you think Pirty should get a $40 million contract?
Because.
If you're just looking at it like that, okay, fine. We take it game to game.
Lamar is playing. They won 9 of the 10. Of the first six games, how many did they win out of the first six? I mean, the thing that you have to look at, Ojo, is that when Lamar didn't play well against the Steeler, he won the first six, when he didn't play well against the stealers, they lost the game. He had a fumble. He threw a kick in the end zone. I said, Lamar threw a kick in the end zone. He fumbled the ball. They had a lead. Oh, why you didn't say that about my homes? Because my homes didn't do that. You see, it's always like when you critiquing one player. Well, what about that player? It's my time to critique because you do realize, Ocho and I, when we come on here, we could talk about whatever we want to. But when I go on ESPN, I talk about what we talk about. That's not my show. This is our show. This is Ancon Ojo's show, so we get to talk about it. But if I talk about it and I don't say what you want me to say or you don't like what I say, then I'm a haters.
Well, I'm sure at some point in time people thought I hated on Payton, they thought I hated on Rogers, they thought I hated on braided. They don't thought I hated on everybody.
Wait, did you say anything bad about me when I played?
I'm sure I did. I can't remember.
Ojo, you got... You all chat. You all looked at our chat. Let me know if Unk said something so we can.
Address that. Yeah, I probably said something about the pillage you was getting for a celebration.
Oh, that was worth it.
Ojo, you got to realize, man. You've been retired a decade, bro.
I ain't been retired. What did you talk about? No, I haven't.
When were your last game? 2014. Somebody tell them that's a decade. 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23. I'm just playing.
Listen, I've been retired what? Maybe 12.
13 years? The last time you played was 2012. Which is twelve years. It was? Yes.
For real? Yeah.
I don't know what it feel like. I'm just.
Telling what it is. I'm just saying how I feel. It feel like I just played. It feel like I'm not too far removed from Yeah, you are.
You.
Are far removed. I feel good. It don't feel like it, though. I can still play, though.
Highlight creation one said, does Tua have a chance to win for the MVP if he beats Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens on the road next week and get the number one seat?
That's a good question. That's a great question, especially with the way Lamar look against the 49ers. What happened if two of that offense comes in and does what the 49ers couldn't do offensively?
Well, you said- That's a great question. -you told me ain't no way Lamar Jackson is going to look like Brock Purdy did tonight. So that's a moot point.
Yeah, you're right. That's why I didn't say, Lamar Jackson have a game like that. That's why I said if the offense's offense can do a Brock Purdy didn't do against the Raiders.
Well, first of all, they're not going to get that opportunity without those turnovers. Yeah, you're right. You have to factor that in also. But the Raiders get to win today on the road. The Ravens get to win on the road. The Eagles were the only home team that won on Christmas Day. All the other home teams taste the defeat. Patrick Wooly said, I'll get out to you on Merry Christmas, a day one. Thank you, Patrick. Nauta is on one and three against the AFC North this year. What's in the water in that division since you all both played there? And what's disrespectful with the title Game Manager? Because people... Let me take the last part first, because when people say game manager, it's almost like they're saying they're winning in spite of you, that you're not asked to do anything. You just manage...
Or not do much.
It's like you're a game manager. It's almost like a manager. You ain't pitching, you ain't hitting, you ain't catching the ball. What are you actually doing? They're saying the quarterback, you're limited in what you're asked to do. I'm sure the quarterbacks, the guys that get called game manager, they view it as disrespectful. Do you think so? Absolutely.
When they call Alex Smith, the game manager, when he played with the Chiefs, do you think that would be disrespectful?
They called him that, yes. Look, I called him Checkdown Alex. Think about the Ocho. Think about the numbers that they were putting up, and they still moved heaven and earth. They traded up 17 spots to get Patrick Mahon. Right. Because Andy believed this offense could go to another level if they had a guy with a stronger arm and that was willing to take risk. We see, like I said, Travis Kielson was getting 1,000 yards a season. Tyreke was Tyreke. Now, Tyreke later to have a lot of blossom and became a true wide receiver and not a gadget guy because he could run the entire route tree. That's the difference. They view it as it's like a wide receiver. What do they call? Most white guys, they call possession. That's a good one. They call them a possession receiver. I'm like, Whoa. Well, Steve LaRger was a possession receiver, and he retired with the most catchers in the most yards at the time they didn't fail history. But you said there's nothing in the water. The AFC North is physical team. You look at the turnovers, Brock Purdy had three. Then he have like two or three against Cleveland.
If I'm not mistaken, he had a couple against Cincinnati. Turned them all over. I don't care how great you are because I've said it before. If you're a better football team, if you're here and team B is here, you turn the ball over, whether you go down or you raise them up, you bring them on your level, Coach. Now, and the more you turn it over, the more you go and look at the separation. You see where that goes? That's what happened. Now you look, see, when you played Cleveland, you missed a field goal that I think won the game or even tied the game. You turned the ball over against the Ravens. A team that's basically on your level, you look like you look the knife. They run away with the game. That's the difference. Go ahead. What's your takeaway? What do you think happened to the AFC North? Why they won and three against the AFC North? And why do quarterbacks view game manager as disrespectful?
Well, I think just like you said, when you are a game manager at the quarterback position, I heard Cam actually say that too. They don't ask much of you. They don't ask you to do much. They ask you to facilitate the ball, to take what you see. They ask you not to take the chances that most would take, where they allow you, depending on your skill set and your talent level and your arm talent, then those are players that they ask to take those chances. I think those that are game managers are not minimized, but their skill set is not up to par, as opposed to those who have the arm talent to do more offensively. I don't really see it as a disrespectful thing because if you're a game manager, you're just not losing the game or making the mistakes that other quarterbacks make. You always give your.
Team a chance.
How is that a bad? I don't see why it's a.
Bad thing. Because they're saying don't you have to game up because we're not going to put you in a situation where we allow you to take risk. So don't you take risk on your own. We're going to run the football. We're going to make it real easy for you. We're going to call this coverage. We're going to call this play. We think it's going to be this coverage to go there with the football. Like, Pat, you're like, Okay, Pat, go do what you do. Whatever you want. Okay, braided, go do what you do. Okay, Payton. Well, you know Payton called his own game anyway. His own game. Guys like that, Joe Borough, guys like that that you're like, okay, but there are times that you need to manage the game. Even the greats have been game managers at one point in time or another. But it's.
Knowing when to do it. It's knowing.
When to do it. Oh, this is the type of game. I see what type of game this is going to be. This is a game that could possibly be 14, 13, 13, 10. I can't take the unnecessary risk. I can't put our defense in harm's way. It's knowing. I agree with you. Faith donated $200. How much and Shannon and ran. Damn, 200? She says, By 2023, the net worth of African-Americans is predicted to be zero. There's angst in the chat over donation like subs and shares are just as crucial. Nightcap accepts all support. So don't count my coins and count your blessings. Let's win together. Shout out, Ash. Man, by 2053, I think... Hold on. I think I saw somewhere, you can look this up, Ash, that I saw the average black net worth is 17,000, while the average white net worth is $171,000. You think.
That's true? And when they do these statistics, how many people do they... How do they even do these statistics anyway? I always thought about that. What does the theory come from in general?
Sometimes they're surveys, sometimes they're questionnaires, they're brochures, they get the census report.
Think about this. When it comes to surveys and brochures and all this stuff, when the last time somebody come to you with a survey and you actually sat there and filled it out?
I don't fill it out, Ocho.
Exactly.
That's why- You know the IRS know how much you make, right?
Yeah. You really think it comes from the IRS?
What did you- Hey, look here. I don't trust nobody.
All right, you're right.
Average black household, 44,900. Average white, 285.
Is that really the difference?
Asian is 536. So you got black at 44, 9, white, 236, Asian 535. I wonder why that is. Because a lot of times those two other demographics, they come up with they come have ideas and create things that make money. Black people spend money. Oh, somebody created that Louis Vuitton that the black person buys, but he ain't got no money to put in it. He or she doesn't have money to put in it. You see the difference?
Come on, man.
Come on, Preach. But to.
Each his own.
That's a whole other discussion. That's a whole other discussion. That's a whole other discussion. Yeah. Hispanic is 61, so we're the lowest. 44, 9, 61 for Hispanic. Two- what did you say? 285 for white, 535 for Asian.
I'm not going to say that because obviously me being the financial person.
That I am- Let me ask you a question. We're on social media. I knew that. Who on social media flashing the big old files of money? Who got the money held up to the ear?
The Rappals?
Who pretending they're getting on the jets? I don't tell anybody how to spend their money. You earn it, you do with it as you choose. Because have I flown private jets? Yes. You got that money. No, I ain't got no money, Ocho. I ain't got nobody. But I'm going to work my ass. I'm going to get it. If it's out there, I thought, listen, oneonce I saw the US government print money during the pandemic, okay, so you all got a surplus of it. Because if you don't have enough, guess what? You'll print some more.
Yeah, also, listen. Is't any of that.
Let me find my niche. Let me find something that I can do that I can make money from legally.
It's enough for everybody. Yes.
It's enough for everybody. I'm willing to work and put the effort in. That's what I'm willing to do. I'm Cheryl McClellum, host of the Cold Case podcast, Zone 7. What's up, everybody? I'm back with year two of my podcast, the season with Peter Schrager. Aaron Rodgers, awesome. I know this was longer than probably expected, but I always love catching up with you. I like you, so I'll give you.
A lot of latitude. I'll take it.
In each episode of this season, I'm going to take you inside and behind the scenes on the conversations that happen at the highest levels of NFL franchises. We'll bring in top GMs and coaches and give you the story behind the story that you're probably not getting anywhere else. Like Brad Holmes, the GM of the Detroit Lions, telling us about their draft room before they made that controversial, Jameer Gibbs-Vick.
In a normal year, you had two first round talent players.
It's incredible. It's like a funky beat. Listen to the season with Peter Schrager on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Check out NBA Pulse with Sarah Kustek all season on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Alkinocho, Merry Christmas. Love the show. I'm curious to know which training camp was the most challenging to adjust to? College or the NFL? Man. The NFL is that they just put so much on your plate. It's just like, and you got to get it. Because once we go install, ain't no way you go install Monday, install Tuesday, install Wednesday, install Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday before you go back to Monday. If you don't get Monday, we're on the Tuesday. If you didn't get Tuesday, now you're behind on Monday and Tuesday, we're on the Wednesday. It's more of a mental game. In college, the three-hour practices, you're young too. You're young.
You run.
All day. I don't know what to call. Think about it. I went to college damn near 40 years ago, but the playbook wasn't as complex and complicated like it is now. I'm sure some of these college playbooks is off the charts.
But.
We were out there practicing doing training camp in college. We got there probably about six hours a day. Fud. Well, we were tackling. Even in the NFL early on, we tackled. We put people on the ground. It wasn't, just wrap him up. Put his ass on the dirt. I think that for me, Ocho, the NFL is more of a mental because, man, they own you. Mistakes cost people jobs.
Especially during training camp. Yeah, people get cut. Especially during training camp.
People get cut. They're cutting you. If I'm on scholarship, they got to keep before at least one year. They're not working in the NFL. They don't have to keep you. No. I had a coach used to say that, This ain't college, son. We don't have to keep you. You don't? No, we don't. You understand very early on that the NFL is an absolute business, and they're going to keep the players that they think can help them win or in the future. Like, you know what? With a little season, I think this kid could be good.
Because.
I've been in the game, O'chah, and I believe that's why they kept me. Yeah, I also I could play all the special teams. I was a very good blocker because I was a big wide receiver. But Dan, I mean, Dan Reed, Coach Reed rested. He told me, he said, son, you're too big, too fast, too strong not to make a living in the NFL.
So.
Kept me around. We're playing some wide receiver. I'm Tim Brown. I want to go where the ball going.
Were you scouting?
They hold that bag up and said, Hey.
Man, they hold.
That bag up. You see that right there? That's you. Hey, let me get that jersey. Let me get that jersey. You don't know what to do. Let me get that jersey. Let me.
Get that jersey. Taking all the Scout G reps.
Tied in. I'm going to tie it in. They got to tie it in like a J. Nova check. A starving, Marvin Cook used to play for the New England Patriots. But they had a tie it in or I'm cooking. I'm cooking. Wade to defend the coordinator said, don't worry about it. They tidy and can't move like that. He won't be open like that. I'm cooking, though. I'm cooking. Wade, he blow the whistle. He said, Dan, put his ass in the game and see if they can cover him because we can't. Next week, they move me the tide in. I'm in the game. Ain't look back. Ain't look back, Ojo. But I would cook it. I would cook it out there, Ojo, and talk it to you. You can't check me. You can't check me.
Yeah.
Okay. They take a cheap shot there. I'm talking, Ojo. I'm talking, Ojo.
I'm talking. What?
Spike in the ball, putting the ball in the woods. Man, hey. Man, I know Mike, but they didn't really care. He's like, Okay, that's enough. I said, No, because the guy ain't talking to me. I remembered everyone because.
They.
Would count like blocking because, Ocho, at that point in time, I'm probably like 215. I don't lost 12 pounds because I was 227. Now I'm 215 playing tight in in the NFL. Feeling good.
But, Ocho, man, they throw me like a rag dog. I said, okay, guess what happened? Come one on one. I said, Now who wants some of this smoke? Who wants this now? Yeah, right.
Get the battle up. Out of there.
Touchdown, hold the ball up. I got the ball back in their face. They reaching for it. I was a stone-cold-food with it. I had to get it back. Michael, 92116 says, Harder task in your prime. Stop a Renato, Messi from scoring a penalty kick. Stop an MJ from scoring a basket. Tackling Barry Sanders or getting a hit off Randy Johnson. First of all.
That's a good list of difficult feat.
To do. Name the person that you ever thought tackled Barry one on one.
Nobody? That was going to be my ass anyway.
That was going to be my ass anyway.
Yeah, you're not stopping in the open field? You got no chance. At all. You couldn't tackle the man on the phone booth. How the hell would... In the middle of the field, you think?
I ain't never seen nobody come to balance like that. And get up and get.
Up out of there. Get a hit off Randy Johnson, 95 miles an hour slaughter. That's not happening either. You're not tackling Barry in the open field, stopping the MJ from scoring the bucket. Well, he might miss the bucket... I mean, he might miss it. But Ojo, Randy Johnson, six-foot, 10 and a half. Now he left it. That ball, you ain't hitting that. How many people... You got to think about it. Professional hitters ain't.
Hitting that. Don't even hit that.
First of all, by the time you swing the bat, the catcher throw it back to the pitch. Because all you hear, pop, you swing. Bro, that's in the glove. Honestly, I probably say I probably... That's tough. I've talked to a lot of guys that play, bro. I talked to Prime, I talked to Bow, Bryan Jordan, they say the hardest thing to do. Now, Bryan Jordan played safety and hit a baseball.
Oh, yeah, most definitely. Do you know the percentage for sluggers or Hall of Famers that have made it into the baseball Hall of Fame, how low the percentage.
Is- You know how hard it is? You know how hard it is to hit baseball? Just imagine if you caught three out of ten passes that they threw to you, they throw your ass up by the lead. If you made three out of ten shots, I ain't talking about three. I'm talking about regular shots. They get your ass up by the lead. If you hit a baseball three out of ten times, you're going to the Hall of Fame.
Hall of Fame.
There you go. I put it in context for you.
Yeah, that's crazy. Because any other sport, three or ten, you're going to be at home on the couch.
Luca had a 50 piece in the Mavs wind. Man, Luca.
Katie has- I know I don't watch basketball much, but how come it looks like he'd be moving in slow motion and still be cooking people?
Because he won't let you speed him up. He's like Lambert.
His moves are very methodical.
His herky-jerky.
-very.
Methodical. Yeah.
It ain't quick. Kairi is quick with intent. I don't know. It's weird. His moves, it'd be working.
Do they? He's the second fast to score 10,000 points as Michael Jordan.
It's something right.
The league just better hope he does just what he's doing. If he ever took training, I'm talking about training, serious and got in shape?
You don't think he's in shape?
Not the way he should be.
Okay, I see what you mean.
But here's the thing. Like you said, look at the success. The man just dropped the 50 piece.
When.
You have that level of success, Ocho, how do you say, This is this working for me. It's like a man he drinks before the game and he's like, Man, if you didn't drink, he's like, But I just run for 200. Right. I just dropped 45. Why would I need to stop? That's the hard thing. I wasn't like that, Ocho. I was willing to try something. I mean, if it might help, I'm going to try it.
If.
It can help me get better legally, I'm on it. Yeah, definitely. Mr. 504 donated $100. He said, My gut tells me the Ravens will play for the A. M. C. Championship. However, my question is this. Who's the toughest person to block? Ocho, who is your toughest corner to compete against? Man, dude, think about it. I'm 228. I got to try to block Reggie, Bruce Mill, Michaelstraight hand. Come on, man.
What you had your hands for? Yeah.
Man, give me a corner. Give me a safety. Let me whip his ass. I get tired of them swinging me out the way. I mean, right? Now they don't even really put the backers on the ball. Every once in a while you'll see them line to Sam on the ball. Right now, mainly, I'm doing a little football one on one, they play what we call an over-front. An over-front is four down-line men, in, tackle, tackle, end. An under-front is what we call where they have four down-line men and a linebacker on the ball. That's what we call an under-front. Over, four down-line men, just down-line men, Sam, Will, Mike, off the ball, a 43 defense under what we call the 25 front. Now you go to a 34 defense is what the Pittsburgh Steeler's play. Two backers, Sam and Will on the ball, three down-line men, a nose, and two D ends. Now you got Mike and plug. Three, four, two linebackers, three down-line men. Mike plug, under-front, four down-line men, linebacker on the ball, over-front, four-down-line men. It was a combination. Three-four used to be really popular to stealers. I've never known the stealers not to have a three-four defense, but there are a lot of under-fronts.
Kansas City played under-front a lot, and then they moved exclusively to a 43 defense and had DT with his hand in the dirt. But good thing I have the block. See, I look at guys that were in my division because I didn't see Brucey a lot. I didn't see Stray a lot. I think I only played against Stray, played against him in the Super Bowl. I think one other time, I think we played him in '98. But Stray was a hellraiser, man. What? Stray was a hellraiser, man. He was a strong.
Long ass, all. He was strong as hell.
Hey, man, look here. He's set the edge now. He set the edge now, and he ain't going to let you hook him. You ain't going to reach him now.
Yeah, he's going to stay outside.
Yeah, man, he could turn you. Yeah, man. Hey, Prop, good thing they didn't ever think I was going to be blocking him when I was over there. They always thought he was a pass. He sitting like you... What they call that? He's sitting light. They call that he's sitting light. Yeah, you're right. I'm out like a scout on a new route.
Yeah.
Hey, handle them tackles. The hard is to block. I'll say, Reggie, rest is soul.
You know the funny thing? This is funny. Sometimes, I mean, for me, those that are difficult to block, I didn't even have to block them. All you got to do is just take them down. I'm just saying all you got to do is just run them off. I ain't got to waste no energy. I run them clear, I'm talking about clear off. Now they could just turn back and I'm like, Oh, they made the tackle. I was in shape shape. I run 10, 15, 10 yards just for the hell of it. Just for the hell of it. Just because I'm in tip top shape and not have to touch of soul. And if anybody's going to make the tackle, there's a safety coming from way, way deep that he's going to have to come downhill and make it. But McCorn and It going to make it. I ain't want to waste no energy sitting here, wrestling with you and trying to show who been in the weight room for what?
You know what I used to like, O'Cho, when I had that safety and I push up and I see that safety come down the alley.
You're going to go cracking because he don't see you coming because his ass is.
In the back field? No. But you can't do that now. You know you can't.
Do that. No, you can't do that. You can't do that. If anything, you just get in the way and help put your arms.
Up like this. That's what Arman St. Brown did. That's what he got it because he tried to crack, he pushed up. Then you come down on safety that's looking to field the having.
He didn't even hit him. He didn't even hit you. He just thumped him up a little bit. Just thumped him up a little bit and they still found the 47,000.
Yeah, I'm saying a linebacker, I think, against the coach, he hit a running back. The coach played the falcon. Yeah, he hit a running back on the sideline and they throw an understand roughness on him. So he's running the guy and he's going like this and he came and he hit it. Understand they're rough to say, with a helmet to helmet. Well, how the hell I'm going to get it?
That's where the game has come to. That's what the game has come to. So you're going to have to find a way to adapt. Like I said before, with the way to adapt, people are going to start changing up the way they tackle and they're going to mess around and.
Hurt themselves. They'll be out of the league because they're going to be missing a bunch of tackles. Renato Hernandez says, Anconochio, do you guys have any supernatural stories? And were you on American Dad? Much love. Happy holidays. Your last question first. Yes, I was on American Dad, and I was able to play myself. I was a bounty hunter. Sharpening my spaghetti. I mean, sharpening my machete. About to eat some spaghetti. No, I don't have any supernatural stories. You, Ojo?
What's supernatural? When you say supernatural, give me better context now.
Supernatural, like ghost stories or chairs moving or ghosts?
Oh, no. I know one thing. I wish my mom and my grandma proved me wrong that there is an afterlife because ain't nobody gave me a sign. They ain't came back and holla at me. They saying, don't tell me you love me all the years you on Earth. And then when you transition, I don't even hear from you. Show me something. Let me know that there is life after death. I'm hoping at some point you can ask me this a few years from now or a few months from now and you ask me about that supernatural story again. And I can say, you know what? My mama and my grandma, they came to visit me. I asked for a sign, and this was the sign that they showed me. My routine has always been the same. A lot of people say, well, if you pay attention, you'll see it. Well, I've been waiting.
You've been.
Waiting for it? I've been waiting. My grandma passed in 2018. I've been waiting. My mama passed in 2021. I'm still waiting on something. My routine and what I do day to day has not changed. No, they're fine. They said they're busy working for the Lord.
They said they're busy working for the Lord.
Well, I'm working for them too.
They said they're busy.
I'm working for them too. Just give me something. Let me know everything good.
Jared says, Shannon Ojo, how do you deal with self doubt? I'm in college and I feel like I'm not smart enough, but I also don't want to be filled with regret later in life. I need words of wisdom. You want to take off first, Ojo?
I'm going to let you have that one because self doubt, that come from within. I ain't let nothing on the outside make me feel crazy on the inside that would have me self doubt myself. That's why I just said earlier about the opportunities with the business at the NFL, they had you thinking something wrong with you? Yeah. Same thing. College will have you question yourself. Relationships and dealing with women sometimes and things don't work out, that also have you question. There are so many different factors in life that would have you question yourself. You can't do that. Self doubt. You can't allow anything outside to deter how you feel about yourself. You got to keep going. You got to keep pushing by all means necessary.
Ocho, I never had self doubt. Could I not do something? But when you get relieved, you're like, well, damn. I had the second most catches in the NFL for a tight in. I had the second most yards. Then you go and you think you're doing good and you think you're getting better in your craft at CBS and they say, Well, we want to move in a different direction. Then the same thing happened at Fox and you're like, well, damn. Everybody telling me I'm good. Everybody on the outside is telling me that I'm good. Then I'm mad. Like, man, you're the best at this, man. I'm not just talking about people just talking. I'm talking about NFL players that I've critiqued. I'm talking about NBA players that I've critiqued. I'm talking about NBA coaches, NFL coaches telling me I'm good. I'm the best at what I do. If you all see that, why the networks? But my sister and I told you, O'Toh, my sister is very religious. She say, Shannon, God moved you. They didn't. He did because he wanted you to be somewhere better. She say, Now, just trust in him. I did. When I got let go from CBS, I took money out of my own pocket, did a Facebook.
It's called Mild enough, where I would take two or three games, I would break it down. I did it every week. It cost me about $13,000 to shoot it, to get it edited, put it up out of my own pocket. I ain't got no money coming in, Ocho. But I'm just putting it out there, let people know, Hey, man, they leave comments good. I like this commentary, blah, blah, blah, so forth and so on. Then I get an opportunity to go on first tape. Did that, took off. Then with what transpired over the summer, man, I just need opportunity. Steven had already put the bug in my ears. He's like, Look. He said, I don't do the hiring over here, but I've already told my bosses that I want you, big boy. Now I'm like, I mean, that ain't no way. Ain't no way they're going to break me. Talk to Dave Roberts, just so happen, I'm going to be in Atlanta. He's getting married. He's going to be in Atlanta at the St. Regis. We're going to have breakfast. We done our research, we done our homework. We know what we getting. What you want to do?
I said, Man, I want to work. That's what I do. I work. That's my purpose. I work. Like, okay. By this time, I'm trying to find an agency. I'm interviewing all the agencies because I want someone to represent me. I want to take my career. I want to see it now. I really want to see how far I can go. I want to push the envelope. I want to see what I can do. Got that resolved. Called my sister. She said, Just give God the glory. Every time she called me, I talk to her every day. She said, Shannon, you say your prayers. You're thanking for waking you up this morning. You know it's going to be all right, right? I said, Yeah, it's going to be okay. She said, Nah. She said, You don't sound like you think it's going to be okay. He moved it now. He said, Watch it. Watch it work. Oh, Joe. I'm not just saying this because I'm on ESPN. My mind is so at ease. My mind is so at ease. So at ease. I wake up every day like, man. When I was like, okay, I got to find a new job.
I got the podcast. I'm going to do that. Cj has been by my side. He's been producing Club Shay-Shay. Cj, what you want to say? I go, but Ash... Because I already told her. Once she started working with me at Fox, I said, If I ever get my own show, you know I'm going to take you. She's like, Okay, I'll go. I mean, don't have the tablet. Hold on. She's like, I'll go. I'm like, Okay, I'm for real. She's like, Okay. So transpired this summer. I don't know what I'm going to do. I hit up. I said, What are you doing? She's like, Nothing working, blah, blah, blah. I say, What do you want to do? You want to come with me? She's like, Yeah, you know where you're going? I say, No. She's like, Okay. Now she had no idea what I was going to do because at this point in time, ESPN hadn't even happened. So even if I don't do ESPN, I'm going to have to pay her out of my pocket. So she put in her, she's going to leave. Hey, what's your account number? I wire the money to account because I want her to know, look, I said this is what I'm going to do.
And even if it doesn't happen, you know monthly you're going to get money. Right. Nightcap is she does a lot of the legwork. I mean, we got the easy part, Ojo, because talking is what we do. Do, analyzing the game is what we do. But the format and all the questions and how are we going to formulate this, that's her. That's her. Now I look back, I say, you know what? My sister was right. But I never had doubt. When I played football, Ojo, I was like, I'm him. I know I'm him. I mean, ain't nobody do what I do and have fun doing it. But when everybody else is telling you, but the everybody else is not the bosses at these networks. So although I appreciate the praise and the adulation that you're giving me and you're saying I'm doing a good job, I need some jokers that got these suits and ties on that's doing the hiring and the firing to believe that I'm doing a good job or I can do a good job. So and I think that's what meant to because I don't know how much and I'm sure they probably look, but I'm on when Steven A is on.
So it's not like he gets an opportunity to see what I'm doing. I'm sure somebody people have told him about what I'm doing or how I'll say how I go about my business, but he doesn't get a chance to watch, nor do I get a chance to watch him because he's on what I'm on. But, bro, you got to believe, because if you don't believe in you, who else will?
You always got to. It all comes down to the key component, not allowing things on the outside to deter you on how you feel.
You can't. They say your grandma gave you a sign, is rail. Rail, you'll sign.
Who said that?
Don't worry about it. This ain't rail. I like that. This ain't rail here.
That's a good one. Yeah, that's a nice little foundation now. Nice little struck. Nice little structure. It's funny when that what? You know what? I'm a hang on.
D-lat said, My girlfriend and I broke up a month ago. Hold on. My girlfriend and I broke up. I asked to get back together. I slept with someone else while I've broken up, and she says she doesn't know if she can get over it. Any advice to change her mind? No. Absolutely. You all broke it up. You don't get to hold my feelings hostage. She probably slept with someone else and didn't tell you.
Yeah, sure did.
Yes, she did. That's what they did. I've been in that very situation. I've been in the situation. We have broken up. I'm just trying tolike that look. I'm just supposed to sit around while you go do your thing. You out all in there and you out.
Crazy.
Game. Crazy game. Ask yourself this, why do you guys break up? Was it infidelity to begin with? Was it a lack of respect to begin with? Was it a family issue to begin with?
Was it boredom?
Yeah. I mean, you have to ask yourself, do you want to be with her or is it the thought of her? Those are two different things now. Do you really want to be with her or is it the thought of her? Or you don't want to see somebody else with her?
With her, yeah.
You just don't want to.
See nobody else with her.
We've all been there. We've all been there.
I don't really want to be with you, but I'm going to apply a little pressure because I don't want to see nobody else with you.
Yeah.
I had a day. I had a time like that back in 1993. I never forget. Yeah, old bone, Quisha. I wonder what she's doing. It's been a long time, man.
She probably waiting on you.
What's she? After all these years.
It's too late now.
It is too late. Too late now. You're a boy. I'm good.
You're good? Ridge, Bear says, I plan on proposing to my girlfriend in the coming weeks. What are the chances I get Unk and Ocho to attend the wedding, shooting my shot with you guys like I am with her. Much love.
Don't invite us. Just give me the address and let me crash it. We're going to come through and we're going to sing Catalina White mixer like they did in Step Brothers. I'm ready. I'm performing. We're going to perform. Since they won't let us sing on YouTube, we can't sing here. We're going to sing.
At the wedding. I'm going to sing at the wedding.
Yeah, you remember Step.
Brothers when they sing Boat.
Boat and Hosed, Catalina White. Yeah, man, shit. We're going to be at that bitch. Turned up.
Why are you like crashing people's weddings on you?
Because it don't feel the same when they invite you. It ain't the same when they invite you and you show up. It feels so much better when you just walking that business out of nowhere. You're not supposed to be down. It hit different. It hit different like that.
I don't know. All I know is this. I'm trying to make it through the NBA season to the NBA Finals, and I'm going to need me about 6-8 weeks. I'm going somewhere. I'm getting off the grid.
Wait.
Where.
Nba is.
Going to be in? The NBA Finals is probably that Sunday, which would be around Father's Day.
I mean, what month? June. June. Oh, boy, you had a long way to go, boy.
You got a long way to go. We ain't even.
Hit the new year yet. But one person is going to know where I'm at, and he ain't going to be able to tell nobody. That's the man upstairs. That's the only person going to know where I'm at.
Wait, Wait, hold on. Who are you going with? You're going by yourself?
Ain't no telling. Did that just tell you ain't nobody going to know?
Yeah, I know nobody going to know where you're going to be at, but I just want to know if.
It's going to be a plus one. You know, big daddy go tee head up. Tie it up. And Big Daddy will tee it up. That's all I will say, old Joe. That's all I got for that. I'm going somewhere. I don't know. I might go to Bolly. Get on one of them old huts. Live on one of them huts on the water.
But that's fine. That's okay. That's a long flight, bro.
They said they got them curtains around the seat. Yeah. Here I come. I ain't talking about Colorado.
It's nice over there.
I ain't talking about Colorado. You ain't like me, though, O-Chosie. You all nice and you know. O'shay.
Who nice?
I ain't nice. You ain't adventurous.
Who ain't adventurous? What you... Well, you forgot. I touched her from north. Hold on, man. You forgot, man. I touch it from north to south. I make you hit every corner of the world. Don't do that.
No, you hit every corner in.
You.
On your own. You got me there now. You got me.
I'm just reminding you. Maybe you forgot who I was.
Yeah, I did. Yeah.
Don't forget my history now. Yes, sir.
The chat says they have anunk tracker like they do for Elon and Taylor Squill plays. They ain't going to know. They ain't going to know where I go on trip. They don't need it, though.
I'm ready. I just want to see you happy, man. I want to see you smile. I just want to like, you... When you have a puzzle, all the pieces to your puzzle are perfect. It's almost together. But there's one piece of that puzzle that really hasn't completed. It's not complete. That one piece and that's the message. You need a missus in your life, man. You need a missus to complete everything, complete the journey. One that understands all you have going on and understands the sacrifices that you are making based on.
The vision and the journey that you want. They're going to have to make sacrifices. That's the thing, O'chah.
Yeah. I'm telling you, that's what I'm trying to find you. But you won't listen. You're hard-headed. You're stubborn.
Sometimes.
I know you heard that before. This isn't the.
First time. How do you identify your purpose? If I was your son, what would you tell me? I'm the first in my family to break many cycles. I need some guidance. I didn't tell my son anything. I allowed him to be what he wanted to be because at the end of the day, that's his life. I've lived my life.
You've.
Heard me say before, I didn't want any of my... I told him I was talking to my daughter today. Her and I had a very heart to heart moment today. She was in her feelings about some things, and I just had to explain some things to her. So it was great. I never wanted my kids, Ocho, my kids are a lot older than yours, to get to a point in their life and say, Dad, I only did this because of you. That was probably my greatest fear. Because you know how you do something, Ocho, and you're like, I only did. I only came because you invited me, or I only did this because... No. In other words, you would have wasted 20, 25, 30 years of your life doing something that you didn't want to do, only to appease your dad? No. That's what I told my son. People like, Your son didn't play sport. That wasn't what he wanted to do. That's what I wanted to do. That's what his uncle wanted to do. He wanted to go to school, get a degree. There are a lot of things he wanted to be a pharmacist.
He wanted to do something with medicine. He did that. Then he found his mate and he got married, got my grandson, and he's happy. I think he's happier right now than had he done something that I wanted him to do. Right.
I'm the same way with my kids. Obviously, my son, we're both of my sons, I were never forced to issue. I'm not one of those that try to live vicariously through my kids. I'm a supportive dad. And whatever it is that you want to do, you can do. Whatever you choose to do, you can do. Obviously, anything that puts you in harm's way, I'm not really supportive. Hell no. Yeah, I'm blessing you in whatever feet, whatever journey you take, I'm going to be with you 100 steps away. You don't have to play football. If you want to play football, cool, that's fine and dandy. If you don't want to play football, whatever it is you have to do, understand in life, you're going to have to earn a living. You're going to have to do something. You just can't do nothing. Now you got to do something. You got to be passionate about something in life and have that same drive and that same worth ethic that I did to be successful at whatever it is that you choose to do. But whatever it may be, I'm all for it. I would never force. And I think growing up when you have kids, you never want to force them to do something because when they get to an age where they can be rebellious and then not fight back, literally.
But say, you know what? This ain't what I want to do. I don't want to do this because you forced me to do it. They tend to resent that, and they grow up hating whatever sport that is that you're forcing on them because maybe you weren't successful at it, or maybe because you want to force them to do it because you didn't make it. So you want to make sure they do.
Live your life through your kids. No, it's just not anything. A partner, I've never looked. I tell my kids all the time, if you like them, I love them. Hell, I ain't got to spend one night with them. You do. If that's who makes you happy, my son, hey, don't you put your hands... Hey, you got a kid now. That's not your child. You don't discipline her. You talk to her. You treat her with respect. I told her the same thing. That's my son. I love him. I want you to treat him with respect. My daughters, say, Hey, if you love him by all means, I don't care what he does. They said, Hey, don't you want to do that? I want my daughter to be happy. If she finds somebody that makes 10 million that makes her happy, I'm cool. She finds somebody that makes 50,000, as long as that 50,000 support them, I'm good.
Because.
At the end of the day, I want my daughter to be loved because I know they love my son. I want him to find somebody that love him because I know he loves. So all that other stuff, at the end of the day, if they find somebody that loves them, that's all I ask. Bring me some and give me some grandkids. You see my grandson got this? Look at this. That's what I got. That's the T-shirt he got, Papa. He got a football up on his arm and everything. Yeah, KJ got that for his Papa. That's what he going to call me. I told him my son said, Daddy, what you want him to call? He said, Dad, what you want him to call you? He said, You can call me Papa or you can call me Papa Sheik. Either one. When you all come back, we're going to be at Magic, eating chicken tenders.
Magic? Yeah. I'm ready for that. I want to see what that's- Oh.
That's going to be. Oh, Magic already got it. Just give me the way. Let me get to the end. Let's get out of January. Let's get out of the football thing. Let's get past the subo. So, the middle of February, March.
I'm.
Going to be in there like swimwear. You know what I'm saying? You see them girls with IG, how that swimwear be fitting? I'm going to be lodged up in there.
I'm going to be. I'm going. I'm going. I got to see what the food is like, and I want to use my peripheral vision as well, okay? I want to see what the food look like.
But I want to use my peripheral vision as well. I want to see what the food look like.
But I want to use my peripheral vision as well. You hit me.
All right.
Yeah, they stay with me now.
Joe, you know what a man puts the glass up like that right now? Will he put the glass up like that?
Yeah.
We mean business. He's also up. I would get a chicken dinner, the fine catfish, shrimp, Nuggets. That's what I will get.
Magic City.
That's going to be real nice.
I can see it now.
I.
Can see it now.
Coming to the stage, Coco.
I bet she's fine too. Hey, Coco.
Ferrari. You know they got the car there. You know they got the car there, the Ferrari.
Yeah. What's up, Lexus? I like it. I like it. I got to practice throwing my wands. You throw your Wans like that. I ain't been there so long. You throw your Wans.
You do like this or you throw... I ain't been there so long, man. It's been a while. Okay, I got it. Okay.
I got to practice. I know you got to lick your finger.
I'm about to save up. I'm about to make a hail on them, throw some coin. It'd be hailing in the club, too, it's raining.
Yeah. I can't compete with that. I probably get $100 in ones, and I throw $5 at a time and make it look like it's a lot. But they ain't going to... You got to throw.
In the... We got to go in there. We got to spend at least. We got to spend at least. Five between us.
Five.
Who? Five bands.
Man, I'm sorry. My bad. God forgive me. I almost backslid. You said to me I got to spend five bands.
No, between us, 25 a piece.
Oh, okay. I could do that. I could do that. I thought you were saying we got to spend five a piece.
No, I'm all about that. I'm going to keep on tipping this if we comeon, come on now.
Okay, I could do 25. I could do 25. I could do that. I can do that. There ain't no problem. There ain't no pressure. I can do 12. I can do 12, five and get 12. Give me 12, five.
What's it called? What's it called? That's Tide. Yeah, I.
Like that. I like that. God damn. I know that thing would be nice too. Coming to the stage.
Ojo, you recently tweeted saying closed mouth don't get fed, shooting my shots again, photographing your wedding for free. I DM the Mrs. On IG and Twitter.
Yeah. I'm going to hit in and let her know. She might be in the chat, baby. Baby, if you're in the chat. Well, you know what? She ain't saying that, so she probably ain't in here. But I'm going to let her know.
You know what I want to ask you before I take any more questions? Ocho, what you get for-.
I don't control none of that.
What you get for Christmas? Before I ask her, ask her any more questions, what did you get?
Man, stop playing. Listen, and what did I tell you when you asked me what can she get that I would really like? What's the first thing I said?
I think you said perfume, cologne.
Cologne? No, I do it every day. I do it every day. No, that too. But what I.
Smoke every day?
Hold cigarettes. Damn, man. This woman bought me a brand new box of Daniel Marshall cigar. What? Yeah, a 24-carat gold cigar. Wow! I bought a box of them things. What else?
Man.
Got me some nice cologne. Got me some nice cologne. My baby, my daughter got me a McDonald's gift card with a thousand dollars on there.
Man.
Yeah, man. Oh, listen, I got the new McDonald's. You've seen the McDonald's Ugs?
Uh-uh.
You've seen the McDonald's? I got to get.
You a pair. No, I'm good.
Come on, I got to get you a pair of.
Mcdonald's Ugs. Like the Ugs that the women be wearing in.
The mall? I mean, not Ugs.
Crocs. Crocs. Oh, I'm going to say it.
I'm old. I'd be mixing up the name, all type of stuff. I'd be mixing up the name, all type of stuff. But man, today was beautiful. Today was beautiful. I really enjoyed it. Watching the faces, man. The faces of the kids when they light up, obviously, they're older now. You already know what you're getting. They have to see their faces light up like that, man. And French fry, watching French fry don't know what the hell going on. She don't know what's going on. But she got her little present. She opened them up and she tearing off piece by piece. Like, Girl, let me show you how you do this. You got to whip it to that thing. What are you doing, man? So next year, I'm sure she'll probably get the hang of it. I like Christmas time, man. My kids, they don't really ask for nothing throughout the year. They don't really ask for nothing. It'd just be small stuff. It'd be small stuff. And I remember I tweeted out one of my daughter's lists and people were like, Oh, my goodness, that's expensive. Man, listen, if you understood how well they're doing in school, how well they're doing in school and when they out of school, just the way they move and everything is...
I don't want to take credit. I've done a good job. The moms have done a good job. So when Christmas time come, I want to reward them with everything they asked for.
So that's a good- Elijah, Balto, hey, Uncle Ocho, we recently had to put our beloved pet chocolate lab down, and it's really hurting my family, especially my father. Our dog was his little boy. How did you cope with the passing of your dog? Appreciate it.
Okay, man, don't have me on here crying again like we did last time you were talking about dogs.
I ain't going to lie, Ocho. It's tough. You don't get over, you just deal with it better. With time, you get to deal with it. But you spend so much time with him. The thing is with me, Ocho, I've always said, and I've seen people keep dogs alive or animals alive for themselves and not for the animal. The animal is hurting. He or she can't tell you it's hurting, but it's hurting. But man, it's tough, bro. It's going to take you a while. It'll take you a while. You're going to cry because you're going to think about the time that how many times it met you at the door and how excited it was to eat and how excited it was for you to pet it on his end. But as time pass, it gets a little easier for you to deal with. You don't get over it. I remember all my dogs. I remember all of them where they was at when I had them put down and held them in my arms when I had the vet come over there and administer the solution.
Man.
It's not easy. But I understand what you're going through, Elijah. Daniel, Caley, hey, Uncle Ocho, what advice would you give to a man finding the right one and woman to have kids with? The right traits in a woman or motherly personality traits. Merry Christmas. But that's something only you know.
Yeah, that's it. Mine, I just look for athletic ability. Can you run, jump? How high? Let me see your ankles. Here we go. You know what I like to do? This is so funny. With Reyl, when me and Rael first met, obviously the first date had to be something where I had to see if she had any type of athleticism. She has a background being in the army, being a paratrooper, but obviously knowing how to shoot a gun, getting ready for war and all this training that she did. Since you like that and you're supposed to be a shooter like that- We go to the ring. Let's go play paintball one on one. Yeah, we went to play paintball one on one. We went to play paintball one on one, and we did the course, and we tried to see who could win.
She got you.
I need to see you operate under pressure because they're going to come times in our relationship where we're going to be put in certain circumstances that are going to be similar to that of paintball. That was fun. How do you operate under pressure?
Yeah, Pyro, said, Can you give Ash a formal shout out? What's her name? She deserve public recognition from us, the fans. She's cool with it. She's not. She does not. Man, look here. Anytime I'm taking a picture, I'm like, Hey, Jordan, take this picture. I'm like, Where'd Ash go? Man, Ash on the plane, Ash in the car, Ash doesn't go to the bathroom. Look here. If you're not going to know Ash with me. Ash be walking 15 steps ahead or 25 steps behind, and you think she's just like a passenger in the airport going. So she does notdon't want anything. She's over here sitting in the chair laughing. She's sitting over here in the chair laughing. Ash, man. Ash does not want... She is A. She don't want any attention. She had get... Oh, look here. The first thing would be, Jordi take a picture. Did you get me? Did you get me, Jordi? Let me see. I just like, no, I didn't get you. Let me see. She going to get you to cut that picture out. She ain't getting no picture, Ash, man. But she's amazing. She's unbelievable. She's an unbelievable hard worker.
She's extremely dedicated. She's here today. So is Jordan. They got a little time off. They didn't have to come as early as they normally do. You didn't have to come to the house, Ash. Oh, my God. You did, Ash. You did. But you sleep, Tim. I ain't never seen nobody sleep like Ash. You swear she's a child. I'm telling her she's... No, she could literally sleep 14 hours a day. 14 hours a day. I'll call Ash sometime in the day. She's like, Hello? I'm like, Ash is 1:30.
You'd be knocked out.
She's like, How did you know I was asleep, Ash? Everybody can tell when somebody woke you up. I'm like, Bro. I'm like, Dude, what's going on? She's over there. I'm like, Ash, ain't that much sleep in the world. But no, she's unbelievable. She's unbelievable. A lot of the success that I've been able to enjoy that we've been able to enjoy with Nightcap is directly tied to Ash. So where are we at now with subs, Ash? The Ravens do a demolition job on the 49th, 33, 13. They picked Brock party off five times and score on seven straight possessions. They win 33 to 19. Who else? Kansas City lose, unable to secure the AFC West 20-14 to the Raiders. Two back-to-back possessions of a scoping score and a PIC 6, doomed the Chiefs. Right now, they need another victory in order to secure the division. Then the giants... See, I like doing the hello.
You like that little contraption? I'm going to get me one. Baby, if you're in the chat, baby, I need one of them contraptions, aren't using, please.
Come on up here. Oh, Wi-Fi real slow right now. What was it? 33,25. The giants... They won 33-25, right? Because they won by eight. They won 33,25. Yep, 33,25. Jaylen Hurst is the first quarterback to go back to back season with at least 20 touchdown passes and 10 touchdown rushing. He's also set an NFL record for the most rushing touchdowns in a season by a quarterback with 15. Congratulations to the Ravens, win 33, 19. Congratulations to the Eagles, 33-25, and the Raiders went on the road 2014 over the Chiefs. With that being said, I'll see you again, Nightcap with Gil and Shay, what are these? I don't do the retro. I don't do the retro.
