It's Tim's 60th anniversary. There's only a few days left for rollup to win, baby. What's with the arms? Why are you got to in the arm?

[00:00:07]

I'm blown away by how excited this is.

[00:00:10]

It's a very exciting time. Listen, all-electric Volkswagen ID 4, a sun-soaked Tilton vacation, or even some major cash with the Daily Jackpot of $10,000 sponsored by Tim's Financial. Maybe you'll have a friend lucky enough to win and take you to San Diego.

[00:00:23]

Maybe.

[00:00:24]

Maybe.

[00:00:25]

Maybe. Or maybe they'll take someone who will actually appreciate it.

[00:00:27]

I think I would appreciate San Diego.

[00:00:29]

San Diego has an amazing zoo.

[00:00:33]

Yes, they do. That is my passion.

[00:00:35]

I think we found out why Steve loves San Diego. Jesse Blake figured it out.

[00:00:39]

Maybe while I'm there, I can apply for a job so I could escape you two clowns.

[00:00:43]

The Steve Dangle podcast. With your host, Steve Dangle, Adam Wild, and Jesse Blake.

[00:01:19]

Let's go. And so I do not knock this over. I'm going to put this on the graph. Or should I just leave it over here? I'll leave it over there.

[00:01:25]

Leave it over. Stop fidgeting. Stop fidgeting.

[00:01:28]

Are you asking us? I don't know. Are you solving this on your own by mumbling?

[00:01:32]

Guys, I was thinking out loud. I was Ed Sheeran thinking out loud.

[00:01:36]

We found love just where we are. No, I'm not going to.

[00:01:38]

What are we going to do here? I got dinner at 8:00, and then I got… Got to go home.

[00:01:44]

Actually, the way I wanted to start the show.

[00:01:46]

It's a Friday show on a Thursday.

[00:01:47]

What are we doing here?

[00:01:49]

I didn't want to start the show that way.

[00:01:50]

Start with Tim Hortons.

[00:01:51]

Oh my God. That farmer's rep got me in a joke. What was it?

[00:01:57]

I don't know what I've done to these two to deserve this, but this week has not been a good week for me. Okay? Yeah. This week has not been a good week for me. I want to start the show.

[00:02:06]

It's been a great week for the preds. Sorry, what?

[00:02:08]

Do you ever look at things and you're like, oh, that's gross, and you're like, I need to look at it harder?

[00:02:15]

I'm doing it right now.

[00:02:18]

Steve's looking at me, by the way. Like pimple-popping videos on TikTok or ingrown hairs. They go into your ear and they remove all your wax.

[00:02:28]

The cow hoof guy.Okay. Yeah.

[00:02:31]

Yeah. So, Jesse, I sent you a text, and I want you to bring this up because this is the craziest photo I have seen in a long, long time. Should I not look at his monitor? You should not look at his monitor. This is a crazy photo. It is of a human arm, but when you see it, you're not going to believe that it could be.

[00:02:52]

Okay.

[00:02:52]

Should I put on my spectacle? You're going to need your specs for this.

[00:02:54]

Maddie just reacted quite viscerally.

[00:02:57]

This is a guy throwing a football. Steve, look at the screen.

[00:03:00]

Holy shit.

[00:03:04]

No. That looks like AI.

[00:03:08]

So that is LSU quarterback and top three potential pick, Jaden Daniels. Not anymore. It's not. Scheduled to meet with the Pats, Commanders, Giants, and Vikings this weekend, according to Ian Rappaport. Yeah, he has not previously met with any of those teams. There is a doctor that commented underneath this post, and it It appears that the elbow is bursitis.

[00:03:34]

It's inflammation.

[00:03:36]

Yes, gigantic inflammation and very painful.

[00:03:39]

When you're a quarterback, you're playing for LSE, it's D1 football, you're bound to get some inflammation in your elbow. That's what's going on, right?

[00:03:47]

Oh, so it's not... Well, it looks, for anyone not or who only listening, it looks dislocated.

[00:03:54]

It looks like he has a golf ball attached to the end of where his elbow is.

[00:03:59]

Or Or his forearm was a piece of Lego that they plugged into his actual bicep. They don't look like they belong to the same appendage.

[00:04:08]

Well, now that you mention it, yeah, I could see how that'd be a pimple or whatever.

[00:04:14]

Bursitis? Bursitis. I've heard of the term.

[00:04:17]

Bursitis is something that used to keep David Clarkson out of the lineup for the Toronto Maple Leaves. No. That's right. No.

[00:04:22]

Influmation of the bursus.

[00:04:24]

That's right. And it's pretty bad. Anyway, I guess people were commenting underneath. And there are plenty of shots with QBs with Bershka. There you go. Like Jesse said. Anyway.

[00:04:36]

That's quite the still, though.

[00:04:37]

I wanted to share something gross to start the show.

[00:04:40]

Are you going to apologize? Apologize for what? For the Fuller incident.

[00:04:45]

I'm not going to apologize for the Fuller incident because everybody pointed out where the Fuller name came from, and it's Home Alone 2.

[00:04:51]

A different film.

[00:04:52]

No, Home Alone 1 as well.

[00:04:53]

Can I play the original clip? No.

[00:04:56]

What? Why are we going in?

[00:04:57]

I think you should.

[00:04:58]

We already did this.

[00:04:59]

Yeah, but no, I didn't get the play back.

[00:05:01]

Jesse got mad at us for bringing up the tort stuff yesterday, but now we got to bring the whole thing up.

[00:05:05]

I didn't get mad at you for bringing up the tort stuff. I wanted you to get to the video quicker. Okay. All right. Fine.

[00:05:09]

Replay the whole fuller episode.

[00:05:11]

This was Adam Wild on Friday. This is what he said.

[00:05:14]

That's me, stupid.

[00:05:16]

This is what Adam Wild on Friday said about the movie, A Christmas Story.

[00:05:20]

Fairly enough, in my house, ass was considered a swear word. Really? Yeah, there was no ass.

[00:05:26]

Um, stupid was considered a swear word in my house until we got in the car. And then- Everybody was stupid. It was all the colors of the rainbow. I knew every word by Grade 1.

[00:05:37]

Have you ever seen a Christmas story with the Red Ryder, B. B.

[00:05:43]

Gun, rifle, whatever? He says, Oh, fudge.

[00:05:45]

He's like, Only I didn't say Fudge. I said the word, the big one. Then he said the F word. His mom was like, washing his mouth out with soap, which was a thing people did. Yes. What was hilarious about that is he's like, He's like, I had to tell her that Fuller, his friend said it, rather than my dad every time he got in the car.

[00:06:05]

Because he's like, And this has become one of the biggest controversies ever on our Discord. Who cares, man? Because they solved it. Fuller is from Home Alone, the original or Home Alone 2?

[00:06:20]

Both of them. It's Kieran Culkin from Succession.

[00:06:23]

You messed up Kieran Culkin. You thought he was in a Christmas story.

[00:06:27]

I got my Christmas movie, Scrambled.

[00:06:30]

I need a Fuller shirt.

[00:06:31]

I think Fuller is the one that's like, Well, back off on the fluids, kid. The rubber sheets are packed. You remember that from where he's like, No, I do not.

[00:06:37]

You don't remember that line?

[00:06:38]

No.

[00:06:38]

I don't remember anything. Because he peed in the bed. He doesn't want to sleep with Fuller. He's like, Oh, your brother's got to share beds or whatever. He's like, I don't want to sleep with him. He always wets the bed because he's always drinking Coca-Cola.

[00:06:48]

That was in A Christmas Story?

[00:06:50]

That was in Home Alone One and Two, Jessie. You guys are so mean.

[00:06:54]

I was more of an elf fan. I cannot wait to find out that's actually from Miracle on 30th Street. We're Some other Christmas.

[00:07:01]

Here's how I can guarantee because people actually sent me the clip and were like, Oh, I think this is what you mean.

[00:07:05]

Oh, really? John Tomara sent it to you?

[00:07:07]

Adam, I think you were mistaken.

[00:07:10]

I don't think I've ever received so many tweets or DMs about like, Oh, it was actually this movie. It was intense. People love their Christmas movies, Adam, and how dare you?

[00:07:21]

You know what? I really didn't think that this would be a thing. How could you... How could I have predicted this?

[00:07:28]

Why do you prep a show? I don't I think you're wasting a lot of time. I know.

[00:07:31]

She's coming here and just, What's on the top of your head? Let's go.

[00:07:36]

. Holy shit. Weekend's coming.

[00:07:40]

Let's go. Now, do we have any more that we need to share? Is there anything else?

[00:07:44]

No, I think we finally solved it.

[00:07:46]

Okay, we have litigated this.

[00:07:47]

Fuller is not from a Christmas story. It is Kieran Culkin in Home Alone.

[00:07:52]

I want to stick to my original point, which is he says in the movie that he learns the swear word from his dad. He hurts his dad say it all the time. But No. That's what I meant to say. That was the point of what I was trying to say. Thanks for everybody hitting the point right on the head.

[00:08:06]

I don't know what your point was. The point is you were wrong.

[00:08:08]

I think that's the point.

[00:08:09]

You know what?

[00:08:11]

No, I've never met him.

[00:08:12]

Hey, I'm frigging We're launching today. Let's go. Hey, guys, did you hear about Alexander Ovechkin's diet?

[00:08:20]

Yes, it's mine.

[00:08:23]

Alexander Ovechkin, Russian Machine Never Breaks, had this really great post. Ovechkin's, quote, borderline inspiring diet includes gas station, sub, and Flaming Hot Cheetos. Were they Flaming Hot? Yeah, he was seen because they were boarding the plane to Toronto, and the Capp social media people were taking pictures of them.

[00:08:43]

He's going to score six goals.

[00:08:46]

Yeah, he was having some subway and some Cheetos.

[00:08:49]

The Leifs have approximately zero players. He's eating Flaman Hot Cheetos. We're going to die.

[00:08:56]

It's already documented by Russian Machine that he loves Italian Italian subs. The spicy Italian sub includes spicy pepperoni, salami, and cheese. You can also toss on peppers oil, vinegar, and quoting Subway, anything else your taste thoughts desire. The Footlog includes double cheese and extra mayo. As Ovechkin walked away. The assumption is that he would be assuming somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,200 calories a sub and astonishing 3,000 milligrams of sodium. But you got to remember, these are hockey players, and they burn calories. It doesn't matter. They can eat anything they want. Yes. God, dream. Yeah. He also likes to drink. He's been caught drinking soda on the bench, and he likes to eat chicken parm before home games.

[00:09:39]

That's probably the most normal hockey player thing you just said, that he likes to have chicken parm.

[00:09:45]

Yeah. I think people think that because Nathan McKinnon is that way, is one way, that everybody's that way. No. No, Nathan McKinnon is different. That's why it's a story.

[00:09:54]

Chickpea pasta is different. It's every hockey player for several generations was chicken parm. Like the first Italian-Pasta. Broke into... Like, Phil Esposido broke into the NHL, and that's how everyone ate for about 40 years. Yeah. And then it changed.

[00:10:09]

And maybe a coffee and a couple of cigarettes. You got to watch it down with a couple of cigs, right?

[00:10:13]

Absolutely. I'm going to go out there and score 76 goals or whatever Mario Lemu got. There he is. Dude, he's got a full head of grayish white hair, giant ass sub, and Flaming Hot Cheetos.

[00:10:28]

Louis Vuitton back, back. Louissouton backpack.

[00:10:29]

Louis Vuitton backpack. Because why not? Best goal scorer in NHL history. Yeah, why not?

[00:10:34]

I respect it.

[00:10:35]

Mama, there goes that man.

[00:10:36]

I want to remind you that Jack Eichel is also one of these guys who gets a little crazy with what he eats. I know we brought this up before, but I still love this quote. I wake up, I go to the rink, I have egg YTS, oatmeal, strawberries, then I have apple juice, then I have gator light, and then I have gatorade, and then I tape my sticks in, I get on the ice, and I go for the pregame steates, and then I get off, and then I get a flush massage of my legs, and then I get in the shower, and then I get in the cold tub for four minutes, then I get out and go home. And Sam Reinhardt, we live together, and now he lives four houses from me, picks up our pregame meal at a restaurant that we like. I go pick it up at his house, I grab it, I eat it at 12:30, 12:00 to 1-ish. We're only halfway through his day.

[00:11:13]

He did all of that to miss the playoff six consecutive years with the Sabers.

[00:11:18]

Excuse me. That's Stanley Cup winner, Jack Eichel.

[00:11:21]

Well, yeah, but he went to Vegas, and then he started having the buff face. Right. I made that up. I don't know if that's actually fair.

[00:11:28]

I feel like that's Isn't that the right way to do it? You're a professional athlete. You should take care of your body and try and prolong this thing as long as you can.

[00:11:38]

Yeah, well, that's a great point, Jesse. Here, counterpoint. Maddie, can you bring up Jesse's laptop? That's my counterpoint right there. Alexander Ovechkin, Hot Cheetos, Subway, giving nary a shit.

[00:11:51]

I feel like this is the exception.

[00:11:54]

No, that's the rule.

[00:11:56]

I feel like the McKinnon-Eichel mentality is He's going to prolong your- What have those guys ever done besides accomplish the same things as Alexander Ovechkin? I feel like that's more common amongst newer athletes, as opposed to, I'm going to eat Subway and Cheetos and be the greatest goal scorer of all time.

[00:12:14]

Yeah, I don't think Sydney Crosby is eating Subway and Cheetos. No.

[00:12:17]

No. I agree with you. Yeah. I didn't know that would be a hot take to you, Steve. You're telling me- That eating healthy is probably the right way to go.

[00:12:25]

Really? You didn't think that I thought that?

[00:12:27]

Really? You want to do a mini fat guy corner? Oh, Mini Fat guy corner?Mini Fat guy corner? What's he got?

[00:12:32]

Wait, is that an oxymoron? Mini Fat guy? Oh, okay.

[00:12:36]

Well, we just got to do a... Well, no, we have Fatter Fat guy corner.

[00:12:39]

Okay, fair enough.

[00:12:40]

What's he got? Give me some of that.

[00:12:42]

You're telling me Sydney Crosby... See, Jessie won't appreciate this, Adam. You're telling me Sydney Crosby has never had a fish and chips down at the Lower Deck?

[00:12:49]

Or fried pepperoni. With a little honey mustard.

[00:12:53]

Lower Deck is, I think it's the greatest place in the world.

[00:12:58]

It's the greatest bar that you've We've never yet been to, but one day we will go. We'll go do a live show in Halifax, and we'll do it at the Lower Deck.

[00:13:04]

Halifax. It's the best bar in the place with the most bars per capita in North America. Yeah.

[00:13:09]

And then we're going to the dome after.

[00:13:11]

No, we're going. I don't know. We're going.

[00:13:14]

Dirty The Dome? Yeah.

[00:13:15]

We'll end up with syphilis, but we're going. I'm kidding. I'm totally kidding. It's a joke. It's a joke. I went to the dome plenty of times and never got syphilis.

[00:13:24]

After getting busted for tax evasion, that's an Al Capone joke. Yeah, no, the fish and chips there. It's like you go to any like, Oh, yeah, I'm going to go see a band at a bar. You don't expect the food to be like five star.

[00:13:39]

No, it's just good. If you can do good greasy food, it's great.

[00:13:42]

The fish and chips at the lower deck. I want it in my life.

[00:13:47]

Didn't Michael Phelps eat a lot of Subway and stuff, too?

[00:13:52]

Well, he was sponsored by Subway, but I don't know if he ever ate it.

[00:13:57]

He had to eat 12,000 calories a day. I remember that.

[00:13:59]

I think Michael Phelps could find a way to eat Subway every day. It'd be perfectly fine because of how many calories he burned. I remember that video or that CNN interview or whatever it was where he talked about what he ate in a day, and it's like what a family eats in a week. Yes. He eats that every single day.

[00:14:15]

If a normal person ate like that, and again, athletes are not normal, you'd be sick. You'd be vomiting. I want a floorbell tournament. You're right. But you can't eat like Michael Phelps can eat. No, I can't. Or could eat anyway. I My question is always, how do you stop eating that? Does your body just naturally need less once you're trained? If you're Michael Phelps now, he's probably working out. He's probably doing a bunch of training and motivational speaking, all that stuff, and smoking weed without getting caught. Yeah, hey, kids, don't smoke weed.

[00:14:47]

When there was a giant controversy, he was caught with the bong in his hand. Greatest Olympian of all time.

[00:14:51]

But what if he didn't ingest cannabis?

[00:14:55]

It was like when Bill Clinton was like, Yes, I took a token off a joint in college, but I never inhaled.

[00:15:02]

I never inhaled.

[00:15:04]

And then Obama was like, I inhaled. I thought that was the point.

[00:15:07]

That Robin Williams bit about the Canadian snowboarder who won gold.

[00:15:11]

Burbigliadi.

[00:15:12]

Burbigliadi who had frig Again, we eat in the system. It's like it's a performance-enhancing drug.

[00:15:19]

To answer your question, Adam, I think you see a lot of athletes, ex-ath, pro-athletes, gain that weight in their retirement because they keep up that eating regime and not the athletic regime. That happens a lot, I think, you find with pro athletes in their later stage of their lives. But you also find, guys, it's easy to... Bodies are very adaptable. If you just stop eating like that, your body will adapt eventually. So I don't think they have that too much trouble. It just depends on which way you go.

[00:15:45]

What do you think the deepest parts of Michael Phelps's vermilion brain think? He's just being chased by wolves every day. And that's what we need. We need this because he burns. I don't know what he's doing, but the amount of energy we're using every day, I think something is trying to kill him from dawn till dusk.

[00:16:06]

That's how you become the greatest Olympian ever. Ever.

[00:16:09]

Then you stop one day and, Oh, I guess they all fell off.

[00:16:13]

Your body must be broken for a few years just to understand what it's supposed to do in these moments. I think. Yeah. He's got to wean himself off of swimming that much, I assume.

[00:16:24]

I think so much- I would love to ask. Being an elite athlete is just not getting hurt.

[00:16:32]

Yes.

[00:16:33]

We went to school with... I mean, everyone's got this story. We went to school with this guy who could have been in the Olympics for nine events. And just one day, his shoulders went, You know what? That's enough. That's enough. And he's got shot shoulders. I'm talking shot. And he's like, 21.

[00:16:52]

No, I think you nailed it. Most of the majority of being an athlete is injury prevention. If you're just healthy long enough, you'll be Yeah.

[00:17:01]

Have you ever heard the... This feels like a VIP episode. Have you ever heard of the... Some scientists did some study where they estimate Because the world record for the 100 meter dash is like 9.5 seconds. If it gets down... 7.5 is the fastest a human could possibly do because after that, their body will tear apart.

[00:17:26]

You can't go faster than that in terms of physics, yes. Yes.

[00:17:30]

Yeah, for most people. Until some guy, we're going to be old dudes in our diapers, but someone's going to run in six. I don't know.

[00:17:40]

Who was the billionaire? Was it Peter Thiel who was like, I'm going to fund the Steroid Olympics? Oh, man. That came out last month. That was a big news story. It was a news cycle for four hours, how the news runs now. But the Steroid Olympics are coming.

[00:17:55]

Which are just the Olympics. What are we getting ourselves? We already You have them, Peter. Don't waste your money. You can waste it on something else.

[00:18:02]

What's the saying, It's not a drug test anymore, it's an IQ test?

[00:18:06]

Yes, that's the exact phrase. That's what it's become in 2024. It's to wear the steroids. They're not steroids, but where the, I guess, nutrients that the athletes are taking-The vitamins. Are above what they're testing for, and they are always ahead of the game.

[00:18:23]

Man, a lot of guys are eating tainted beef. Have you noticed that?

[00:18:28]

It's always the tainted beef. We We can do this, and then you can get to what you actually want to talk about. No, no, let's do whatever. But here's Michael Phelps' what he eats in a day. Let's go. For breakfast. Let's fucking go. Three fried eggs, three fried eggs, sandwiches with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, fried onions, and mayonnaise, followed by three chocolate chip pancakes. What? That was not all. After sandwiches and pancakes, it was time for a five-egg omelet, three sugar-coated slices of French toast, a bowl of grits, and two cups of coffee to wash everything down.

[00:18:59]

For To wash everything down? Kids, that's not what he means. Continue.

[00:19:04]

To clear everything out.

[00:19:05]

To poop it out. For lunch, he would have a half kilogram of pasta.

[00:19:10]

A half kilogram.

[00:19:13]

Two large ham and cheese sandwiches on white bread smothered with mayonnaise and another set of energy drinks. For dinner, a pound of pasta with carbonara sauce, a large pizza and energy drinks. This would make up around 10,000 calories a day which should ideally feed five average men a day. Wow. That was like, NBC.

[00:19:36]

You'd die. You would die. Do you know the percentage of the population that would try this and die within the month Dude, that's crazy.

[00:19:46]

All right, YouTube video.

[00:19:48]

Youtube, yeah, for the content.

[00:19:50]

I ate like Michael Phelps for a day.

[00:19:53]

All right, guys. I'm here doing fat guy. Hope you guys are Ready to shorten from SDP to P.

[00:20:02]

Hi, it's S&P.

[00:20:04]

Hi, it's podcast. Steve's dead. He tried to do an Olympic thing because he won a floorball tournament once. We call that hubris, kids.

[00:20:15]

I like this. I like where this topic is going. By the way, speaking of athletes, Jesse, you mentioned earlier about athletes that their bodies adjust down and then they put on a bunch of weight or whatever. Remember when Shaq put out that photo a year ago where he had just got jacked? Because he put on some weight, obviously, in his career and then put it on after. Then he got huge.

[00:20:38]

Have you seen that? No, I don't remember.

[00:20:39]

Okay, I'm going to try to find Shaq.

[00:20:43]

This is weird. I believe you. I believe Shack topless.

[00:20:45]

Shack topless. Not my favorite internet search.

[00:20:51]

Put Shaq, topless, and delicious. Okay.

[00:20:54]

Tell me this isn't crazy. Tell me this isn't crazy.

[00:20:57]

How old is he?

[00:20:59]

Well, he's got to in his 60s, right? Or late 50s, at least.

[00:21:03]

The way crazier photo is the Ernie Johnson one from yesterday.

[00:21:05]

Oh, my God. From Ghostbusters? Yeah. '79?

[00:21:08]

'78. How dare you? Oh, I'm sorry.

[00:21:10]

I'm sorry. Yo, okay, here's the crazy thing. Would you imagine Shack, but with abs? Because he has them.

[00:21:17]

Not too... Abby.

[00:21:21]

There you go. It was very good.

[00:21:23]

It should be a photo. That video is the...

[00:21:26]

Oh, boo, Men's Health. You suck. You suck Men's Health. Anyway, go look it up.

[00:21:30]

Whatever. Here it is. There he is.

[00:21:32]

Look at that guy. Look at Diesel.

[00:21:35]

Wow. I like Hendrix's comment there. Sexy.

[00:21:39]

Sexy. Hendrix. Dude. Yeah, crazy.

[00:21:43]

I imagine that dude 20 He was younger and just trying to stop him. I'm going to dunk a basketball. No, you're not, Shaq. Actually, I am. That's great.

[00:21:51]

He does. That man is built.

[00:21:54]

Yeah, that's a literal diesel. You can see why they called him that. I do think that, too. You look at that and you go, I would not want to stand in front of that man.

[00:22:04]

No.

[00:22:04]

And anybody that did, that really sucks. Imagine going to a... You're playing the Lakers, you got Kobe on the outside, and then you got to face that in the paint.

[00:22:11]

That's not a good basketball body. No? No. Shut up. No, honestly, no. He didn't look like that when he was playing for a reason. You ever look at Kevin Durant? Oh, I know. This isn't the greatest basketball body. Right.

[00:22:23]

He's just doing that for a step. Yeah.

[00:22:24]

Now he's 50 and not playing in the NBA.

[00:22:27]

I think we can take that off the screen. Yeah, He's just rubbing his abs at this point.

[00:22:32]

You know what? I bet the views are going up. The views are going up, I think. Yeah? Yeah.

[00:22:37]

You think so?

[00:22:38]

So tonight, the leaves will be without Mitch Marner, Austin Matthews, and potentially, and also Cal Yorn Croke, and potentially without Morgan Reilly, too. We're not sure yet.

[00:22:48]

He's still day to day. Yeah. So he's out.

[00:22:51]

And Edmondson.

[00:22:51]

So if you're betting on the Washington Capitals, as I am, to make the playoffs, you might have made a good bet. Now, I'd I'd like to see the Leaps put up a fight here. My question to you guys is you're missing your number one center. Your number two center got called up by the coach just a couple of days ago. What do you want to see from the Toronto Maple Leaps against the hard charging and super surprising Washington Capitals? What do you need to see?

[00:23:15]

I want them to treat it like it's not a scheduled loss because you're actually coming off of back-to-back regulation losses, which you're not all that accustomed to. The Leaps don't lose back-to-back games regulation very often anymore. They definitely don't lose three. You might come across injuries in the playoffs. One of the last great memories that we have of the Leaps actually going on a deep run, when the Leaps went to the conference final in 2002, they didn't have Sundeen for half of it because it was the legend of Alan McCauley coming out of nowhere. For the kids out there who don't know, it's the equivalent of Austin Matthews going down, and Pontus Holmberg carried the leaves through like a round and a half.

[00:24:05]

You're saying he couldn't do it? To say Pontus Holmberg couldn't carry the leaves?

[00:24:10]

I'm saying Alan McCauley earned every dime after that little stint.

[00:24:15]

I believe in Pontes Holmberg.

[00:24:17]

Listen, a lot of people didn't think Alan McCauley could do what he did, and then he did it.

[00:24:22]

Fifteen points in 20 games that playoff.

[00:24:24]

There you go. Alan McCauley stepped into his slot, and Gary Roberts-Was Gary Roberts.was It's just a terror through that whole thing. But Humbert in the middle of Nye's and Robertson, it's an interesting idea. Hold on.

[00:24:40]

Can I just stop you for a second? Why? Alan McCauley in that playoff. I told you he had five goals, 10 assists, 15 points, right? Do you know that during the season, he played 82 games. He had six goals, 10 assists for 16 points.

[00:24:54]

This is what I'm saying. It's a very apt comparison.

[00:24:59]

I think it's Tavares Domi, I would go.

[00:25:05]

Oh, up the middle, tonight?

[00:25:05]

Holmberg Conf.

[00:25:08]

How's that? Yeah, they're probably going to have to do something like that.

[00:25:11]

Would you switch out? Who would you do instead? Would you maybe Really? Even though that's a million times failed experiment. No.

[00:25:20]

Everybody's like, No, please, God.

[00:25:21]

I think you got it. Oh, boy. Wait, do they have lines?

[00:25:25]

I haven't seen any from Mark Masters yet. I haven't seen.

[00:25:28]

Try Alter. Try David Alter. It's funny. On the way down here, I was thinking about the idea of the playoff roster.

[00:25:36]

No lines. Okay.

[00:25:38]

I was thinking about the idea of the playoff roster. And you know what's starting to grow on me big time is the idea of splitting Austin Justin, Willy, and Mitch up on three different lines. I think they can do it. I love that.

[00:25:49]

I got it. Okay. Here's what I'm going to do. We're going to do a little leafs. Who playing with who? Who? Where they play for.

[00:25:56]

Where they play for.

[00:25:57]

All right. So what do you think, Jessie and Steve, the first line is you can work together on this because we got to move through it a little bit quicker.

[00:26:05]

I'm going to say Tavares with Bertuzzi and Willy.

[00:26:11]

Sure.

[00:26:12]

Is that what you want?

[00:26:12]

Sure.

[00:26:13]

It's Bertuzzi Domi Marner Marner. At practice. Marner. Those are lines of practice.

[00:26:18]

But he's not playing.

[00:26:19]

Well, yeah, Marner's out for at least the next two games.

[00:26:23]

Okay, so let's keep going here. Hang on.

[00:26:26]

You know what? That actually bodes well for my prediction that it's going to be three, Willy, Mitch, and Austin on three different lines.

[00:26:35]

Anyway, next line. What do you think?

[00:26:37]

Okay, well, Tavares has to be on this one. Tavares with Robertson and McMahon.

[00:26:45]

Neylander, McMahon.

[00:26:46]

Damn.

[00:26:47]

And then you got Nia Holmberg Robertson, Dua, Kompf, Reeves. Gregor is the extra skater. So here's my question. Here's my question, gentlemen. Does Gregor come in? Because if Marder is not going to I knew he's not supposed to play till April.

[00:27:01]

On the first line?

[00:27:02]

No, I don't think that. But if you were going to move somebody up, to me, does it not make sense to move Robertson beside Domi and Bertuzzi? Give him a shot. 100 %. And then Gregor goes in on the third line because you got the speed with Gregor.

[00:27:15]

I mean, you need to... Robertson, I think we can agree on the fourth line as a waste of time, and that's why the least have done it like two games all season. Give him a shot.

[00:27:30]

Why not? This is the time to step up. Give him a shot. He was pissed about being sent down. Here's your chance.

[00:27:34]

Here's your chance. We're going to put you on the top line. We're going to give you 13, 14, 15 minutes. Give it a shot.

[00:27:42]

Do the Leaps instead go? Is it better to go 11,7? Because you could sit Gregor, although it doesn't make sense to sit Gregor. You could. And obviously, Marner is not playing. But here's the question. The defense lines are McCabe Lilligran because we want to do this. Brody Labushkin, Benoit-Timmins, and then Giordano is the extra skater. I don't know if he's been cleared to play yet.

[00:28:06]

No, Giordano is not playing. No, he's cleared. Yeah? You think he'd be penciled in tonight?

[00:28:11]

Do you think you put him in tonight as an 11:7 and he's like the seventh D? Give him five minutes or seven minutes.

[00:28:16]

It'd be an easy way to ease him back in.

[00:28:19]

I think so, right?

[00:28:20]

Just a thought. I mean, Keef's going to have to juggle the lines anyway. Listen, I know a lot of people don't love the job he's done.

[00:28:28]

Tonight's a difficult one. It's But you know what?

[00:28:30]

He was still on LTIR. I thought he was activated.

[00:28:34]

Okay. Can I ask you guys something?

[00:28:36]

No. Of the forward group. What do you want to- Of the forward group that's playing, who is your person, each of you has to pick a different one, that needs to step up, that you need to see something from.

[00:28:45]

This is the night where it's like, okay, now you got an opportunity, seize it.

[00:28:49]

Max Domi.

[00:28:51]

Max Domi? He's been playing well.

[00:28:52]

He has been playing well. But so much of splitting up Willy, Mitch, and Austin has to do with the quality of Max's play. And we know he can set up plays. We know he can put up points. You got to be better in your own end, which he's not. And you got to never ever, ever, ever do a stupid pass like you did. That essentially cost them the game.

[00:29:19]

No more gouch passes.

[00:29:20]

Yeah, no more of that. It was literally a gouch pass. You can't do that ever again. There was 3:20 to go in a one goal game in your barn. You could have tied it. Easily could have tied it. And you blew it.

[00:29:32]

Jesse, who's your guy to step up?

[00:29:35]

You know what tonight is? Tonight leaves undermanned. Nobody's out there. They're going to schedule a loss, blah, blah, blah. Washington Capitals fighting for a playoff spot. They're going to be Ryan really hard. Tonight is a Ryan Reeves go out there, smash some people in the face, get into a fight. No Tom Wilson. Maybe get a suspension, do some crazy shit on the ice game. That's That's what I want to see tonight. I want to see Ryan Reeves justify this whole thing that's happened all year. I want to see him go out there, make room on the ice, as Steve Dangle likes to say, and just cause chaos because the team doesn't have the offensive weapons. So let's do the other thing where we just bully people. How about that from this team?

[00:30:20]

It's interesting because he wouldn't be a deterrent in this game at all. They don't have Wilson. I'm trying to think of who else would even be in that conversation.

[00:30:29]

Reeves, the ice is yours when you're on it. Nobody's pushing back. Go out there and just do some stuff.

[00:30:36]

He hasn't really had a game like that where he's like, You know what?

[00:30:40]

I think Matthews isn't there. Marner's not there. You got no star. Well, Willy's there. Jt's there. But you got nobody who's going to step up and be like, this is my game. Why not Ryan Reeves just say, this is my time and I'm going to make the highlight real?

[00:30:52]

I need him to wake up that old Bam Margera video where he goes, Hi, I'm Bam Margera, and I feel like kicking my dad's ass all day today.

[00:31:03]

Except instead of my dad, it's the Washington Capitals.

[00:31:08]

I don't know. That'd be nice. I think it'd be cool. We saw Ryan Reeves just make it the Ryan Reeves show tonight. Because what the hell? It's not like who cares if they lose.

[00:31:18]

Just go out there and have some well, make it the Ryan Reeves game. They are only a few points up on Tampa, gentlemen, as you pointed out yesterday.

[00:31:23]

I think Steve's point last episode about if you fall to the wild card, it's hard path to Stanley Cup no matter who you're playing. You play the Rangers, you play the Bruins, you play the Panthers. Who cares?

[00:31:33]

I'm just not sure it matters.

[00:31:35]

It's hard to get to the Stanley Cup final. It's hard to win a round. Who cares who you play?

[00:31:39]

It's funny. This year, there are teams in the East, like playoff teams, where I'm like, You know what? The Leifs actually match up well against them. And the Lefs are not going to play any of them. They don't match up well against the Panthers. They don't match up well against the Bruins. They've consistently gotten beaten up by the hurricanes. The Rangers are the only one where I'm like, They might beat them.

[00:32:03]

And you're not getting home ice either way because of how you played so far in the season. You're not high enough up in the standings to get home ice. Why?

[00:32:10]

Was losing to Chicago twice and Buffalo several times? Was that damaging to their season?

[00:32:15]

Losing to Arvid Soderblom. Oh, my God. He still might only have two wins on the season. He's got four. He's got four now.

[00:32:21]

I think he's four, 15, and one or something like that.

[00:32:25]

Only half of his wins now are from the Leifs. Let's check. Arvid Soderblom has four wins on the year. He's 4, 20, and 1, with an 8,76, and two of his wins came against the Toronto Mapleies.

[00:32:39]

His career record is 632 and three.

[00:32:48]

Yeah. This season, he beat the Toronto Maple Leaves twice, and they're not going to get home ice.

[00:32:54]

He's played 45 games in the NHL, and one-third of his career Year wins are against Toronto. Unless Moraza got one of them.

[00:33:04]

Kind of crazy that every other league he's played in, he's had really good save percentage and really good goals against average, except for the NHL. He's also played for the Hawks.

[00:33:11]

I mean, they stink.

[00:33:14]

They played themselves out of home ice a long time ago. So they're not going to get it. That's their bed. They got to lay in it. And whoever they face right now, it doesn't really matter because it's going to be a hard road. So just get healthy for the playoffs. That's all I want here is all these guys who are out with illnesses and all these achy pains, get healthy, have a healthy team for the roster or the playoffs, whether you go 11 and seven or your regular lineup. Just make sure on day one, you're ready to go. That's what it's got to be about at this point.

[00:33:41]

Last time, they needed a next man up performance. Bobby McMahon earned himself several million dollars. That dude was a healthy scratch. He was going to be a healthy scratch, and he had literally two dozen good games, and the Lefs are like, Here's over two and a half million dollars.

[00:34:00]

So You're telling me Noah Gregor hat trick?

[00:34:02]

I mean, it would be killer if he did something, anything that wasn't scoring in the first game of the season. When was the last time that guy put in a goal?

[00:34:13]

Noah Gregor hat-trick. It's coming.

[00:34:16]

It'd be nice. I'm still going to say Robbie. I mean, he's the one making the most noise. I mean, okay, you know what? We're Galaxy Brain in this shit.

[00:34:26]

Just going to name every guy.

[00:34:26]

John Tavares. Okay. You make 11 $1 million. You've scored over 20 goals. Your coach said you stunk last game. Matthews isn't out. You're the number one center. Go out there and be vintage John Tavares.

[00:34:40]

Okay.

[00:34:41]

Yeah. Treat this like it's the Islanders.

[00:34:42]

Why are we?

[00:34:43]

Oh, then they're going to lose.

[00:34:45]

You know what? I think the lead 14th floor needs to step up. John Tavares. Okay. It's him. It's got to be him.

[00:34:52]

When was the last time Noah Gregor scored a goal? Trivia.

[00:34:55]

December fourth.

[00:34:59]

I'm going to January 22nd.

[00:35:02]

December ninth. Damn. That was a good guess, Steve. Wow.

[00:35:07]

If you had said to me, so December ninth, if I told you, and they played what? 25 games at that point? Hey, Noah Gregor's got five goals.

[00:35:13]

You'd be like, Oh, that's pretty good. No, December 16th. You stick. I missed one goal. December 16th. What did you say? What was your date?

[00:35:20]

I said the fourth.

[00:35:21]

Okay, but even so.

[00:35:22]

I should have said the 14th.

[00:35:23]

That's pretty close.

[00:35:25]

That's a long time ago.

[00:35:27]

No, but he was performingMarch 28th.

[00:35:31]

Well, oh my God.

[00:35:32]

Do you know that Noah Gregor once did play with Matthews and Marner on the top line?

[00:35:36]

Yeah, because he earned it and everyone's like, Good for him. And then we saw him there and we were like, Oh, okay.

[00:35:46]

I'd like to see the return of Noah Gregor, too. I'm with you.

[00:35:49]

Steve's probably right. Don't to for us. Willy.

[00:35:53]

Willy. The money makers.

[00:35:57]

Everybody's out. Go play hockey.

[00:35:59]

We're talking How about all the guys who need to score? How about Jake McCabe, Screw your head on a little tighter challenge? How about no more passing behind the back between the legs challenge?

[00:36:09]

Do you think he knows how to not pinch in situations where he shouldn't be behind his own net?

[00:36:14]

No, I don't think he does. I don't know. I love Jake McCabe so much, and sometimes it's painful.

[00:36:19]

Yeah, he loves pinching. He's a vintage Bobby Orr out there.

[00:36:22]

Tj Brodie is fighting for his NHL life right now. There is no shortage of guys in the lineup who ought to have A very, very good game tonight.

[00:36:33]

Hey. They're going to win.

[00:36:34]

Joseph Wall. Oh, yeah. You have a bounce back performance. How many times do we see him have bad back to back games? Are we realizing that this isn't necessarily an automatic loss if they just try.

[00:36:49]

No, nothing's an automatic loss.

[00:36:50]

No, I know that. I know that. There's got to be some determination there. Listen, there's 11 games left. Do you want to be in the playoff lineup or not? You want your name on the Stanley Cup or not? I don't think everyone on the roster meets all the qualifications.

[00:37:05]

What if they just started calling up Marlies and resting the guys and treated it more NBA style where guys just sat out? You said 11 games. That's so little games.

[00:37:14]

It's so few.

[00:37:15]

That was 11 games.

[00:37:19]

That's so few games.

[00:37:21]

I feel like at this point, if they just rest guys for four games.

[00:37:28]

I know Austin is trying to chase 70, but now that he has an illness and all that, that might be out of the question. I don't know. Just rest him.

[00:37:36]

Be nice to call up whoever's healthy, man. Alex Steve, nick Abrazizi. I don't care.

[00:37:43]

Abrazizi was in this He had a lineup for a lot of last year.

[00:37:47]

Adam and I saw him score a goal. Yeah. He scored an NHL goal in the final game of the season. I think it was 2022.Leaps and Bruins.22. Neither of them started anyone.

[00:38:00]

Yeah, it was a fun game.

[00:38:02]

It was a fun game. It was a fun game.

[00:38:03]

It was one. Yeah. And Steve had seats somewhere else, but he just came and sat with us because nobody was there.

[00:38:07]

Oh, fun.

[00:38:08]

Yeah, everyone like, someone left. Yeah. They're like, Yeah, I just sat next to you.

[00:38:11]

That's funny. It was fun. Also, you guys were at the game separately. Yeah. Yes.

[00:38:15]

I don't know why, though. I know that it was my birthday present from my wife.

[00:38:19]

You know what? I was there for some Rogers thing.

[00:38:20]

Steve was... I remember this. I remember this. I was going to say you were there for Sportsnet.

[00:38:24]

I was there for Sportsnet.

[00:38:26]

That's why you were there solo because you did a thing. And then I remember. I I remember the story.

[00:38:30]

And there was... We're not doing it.

[00:38:33]

We're not doing it. Okay, don't do it.

[00:38:36]

Someone was not kind.

[00:38:38]

Someone was not kind. Carlton.

[00:38:40]

Wow. No.

[00:38:41]

I will fight to the death for Carlton. That was the day Carlton punched a child. Wow.

[00:38:46]

Can you believe that? Jesse. That's crazy that he did that. He did it. Damn.

[00:38:51]

He came to my son's birthday party, and it was only a couple of kids who deserved it.

[00:38:55]

And he pushed Leo in the pool.

[00:38:57]

Yeah, get in there. He just shoved him in there. No.

[00:39:02]

This episode is brought to you in part by Better Help. Listen, it is that time... Steve, let me ask you, how's your sleep been?

[00:39:11]

It's not good.

[00:39:13]

What happens when your sleep's not good?

[00:39:14]

I feel sad.

[00:39:15]

Yeah, right?

[00:39:17]

I can laugh about it. I have tears in my eyes from yarning. Yes.

[00:39:24]

Sometimes the things that become overwhelming, they feel like a mountain But maybe they're a mole hill or maybe they are a mountain, and you just have to figure out a way through it. It's good to have an extra set of eyes, an extra set of ears in this particular case to go, okay.Extra.

[00:39:40]

Set of fingers.Yeah, that too. O's. Belly buttons. The full body.

[00:39:44]

The full arm pit.All.

[00:39:45]

The faculties.

[00:39:46]

Type with your nose. That's right. You can do any of that with better help. Basically, it's nice to have somebody else, like a therapist, to bounce things off of. The great thing with better help is you're going to be matched with somebody very quickly. It's much, much faster than it takes normally to get a therapist. Of course, you can do this over text, you can do this over FaceTime, you can do it over the phone, whatever works for you. And if you want to learn more, go to betterhelp. Com/sdp to get 10% off your first month. That, again, is betterhelp, H-E-L-P. Com/sdp. Hey, guys, have you considered NordVPN, but for family guys?

[00:40:22]

What does that mean? Like us.

[00:40:25]

Protect your whole family with one NordVPN account, including your shared gadgets. Meg and Stewy. No, not that family guy. Peter. The real-life one. And Brian. That's right. Talk your dog. Install NordVPN on your router to secure every device on your network with encryption. You can use the kill switch feature to stop data leaking when you lose your VPN connection, which is crazy. And then there's link up devices. You can link up devices for secure file sharing and land gaming. So if you're gaming like Steve is, let's say you're doing a stream and you're doing Red Dead Redemption.

[00:40:58]

Like I do all the time.

[00:40:59]

Yeah, you can link up all your devices for it. Browse with peace of mind with NordVPN. It does not track your online activities, which is great, too. So listen, NordVPN-Give me the offer. You want the offer?

[00:41:12]

Give me the offer.

[00:41:38]

Com/dangle. Hold on. So when you sign up, you get four months extra. For free. For free. That's the deal. That's the deal.

[00:41:46]

The moon will go around the Earth four times. Wait, that's not how it works.

[00:41:51]

Is that how the month works? I don't think that- No, that's not how it works. No, but you'll understand. You get what a third of the year looks like. It's free, and it's with nordvpm. Com/dangle. Maybe it's wrong of me. But when you tell me the Sens and the Sabers play and you say it was a disaster, my assumption was it was a disaster for the senators.

[00:42:15]

Well, see, that's where I think you're wrong.

[00:42:18]

Well, I was because I was talking to you last night and you were like, holy shit, it's five, nothing for the Sens.

[00:42:24]

But there are a few teams right now. We're all missing the anti-playoffs, and the Sens and Devils are racing towards last place in the anti-playoff. Two teams dead. Dead. They are dead. They are not making the playoff. Columbus, Ottawa? No, no, no, no, no, I forget his name. Let's go out and put ourselves in the conversation for that. And the devils and sends are like, You know what? Let's go for it. Let's fucking finish. Let's inspire our fans and finish, I don't know, six points out of the playoff. Let's go, boys. Let's go. Let's go. The worst possible place to be is in the middle. No, below the middle. There's a line. You want to above the line. There's two lines. You want to be above the middle line or the line at the bottom. You want to be as close to that as possible. And both of those teams are hell-bent on making it as hard as possible for their franchise to get better.

[00:43:46]

Could that be because they will have to forfeit their first round pick at some point in the next three years, and they don't want it to be a super high pick? Because remember, Ottawa. Ottawa is going to forfeit a pick because of the Dadov trade that they screwed up with-A first rounder? It's a first rounder. They were fined a first rounder. So the way it works is Ottawa-Oh, man, I forgot about that. Ottawa will forfeit their 2024, 2025, or 2026 first round pick. I think it's their choice. That's so much. They have to let everybody know within 24 hours of the conclusion of the draft lottery. So we're going to know in the next three, four weeks here.

[00:44:25]

When's the draft lottery?

[00:44:26]

It's usually mid-April, isn't it? Right after the playoff starts?

[00:44:29]

First or second round? Yeah.

[00:44:32]

Every year after the draft lottery. I wouldn't forfeit this year. I wouldn't either. Just keep delayed until you're good. When's that going to be? If you're not good next year, you're going to push it and be like, Maybe we'll be better next year. Yeah. Oh, man. That's what I would do if I was Ottawa. I didn't even know about that. Now, Pierre Dorian royally fucked them. Yes. It's very evident by the way the season and his tenure has gone and the way they've losing this draft pick. It's not great.

[00:45:00]

No. First-round pick. They do have Boston's first-round pick, by the way, but who cares? I know we talked about the-The second-round pick.

[00:45:07]

Yeah. I know we talked about this at the time, but now that we've had some time to think about it, First-round pick stiff, eh?

[00:45:18]

No, it's not. No? No, because what it tells me is there's more to this story. What it tells me is that this wasn't a mistake. Or it was a mistake, and then It was they tried to cover it up.

[00:45:31]

That was an avoidable mistake.

[00:45:33]

But I think it's more than that, Jesse. I think there was... To me, it feels like intent. And not intent as in we traded them and we didn't want to tell those guys. I think they traded them without remembering, and then they lied about it. That's what I think happened. And by they, I say one guy and a story.Counterpoint.Yes..

[00:45:55]

At several times over the history of this podcast, we've I had a story where a general manager had a contract voided because they didn't know the rules. Yeah. Maybe these guys just forget stuff.

[00:46:10]

Maybe they're human. I think there was a clear evidence of negligence on the part of the Ottawa senators and Pierre Dorian and how that all went down.

[00:46:21]

Yes, but negligence is not intent.

[00:46:24]

Negligence- No, there was some intent later on, like I said. Negligence first, intent later. Yeah. I don't know what- What do you mean? What point? I don't know what you mean. What do you mean?

[00:46:33]

What point? I don't know what that is trying to... What you're trying to say.

[00:46:38]

Here's what it is. A lot of people... Listen, since fans bring this up, and I understand... I understand where the anger comes from. The Blackhawks didn't have to pay a single draft pick.

[00:46:55]

Yes, they should have had to pay a price, too.

[00:46:59]

I agree.

[00:47:00]

The thing we're talking about isn't if the Black Ops didn't pay stiff enough a penalty. It's if it's just what the Ottawa senators did justifies their penalty. Ottawa's dog is banned. It's not in comparison to the Black Ops. The Black Ops should have paid a lot more of a It can't be.

[00:47:15]

But this is every player safety conversation we've ever had. Yes. Where you look at... It's with Morgan Reilly getting suspended for what he did to... Oh, my God. Who even was it? Ridley Greg. Ridley Greg. Thank you. We're like, Okay, yeah, five games for that makes sense if that's what's going to happen going forward, and that's never the case going forward. Okay, a first-round pick for that indiscretion from Pierre Dorian makes sense If every team is going to be held to that standard. But what since fans are angry about is no team has ever held to that standard. That's all I'm saying.

[00:47:53]

Yeah, and I agree. Michael and Lauer in his press conference said as much. He was like, I can't believe I'm having to deal with this. I He was told this was not going to be a problem.

[00:48:01]

When he was buying the team, the owners and Gary Bettman lied to him. They told him that this was not an issue. It's going away. Then all of a sudden, a couple of months later, they find him a first-round pick.

[00:48:13]

Shane Pinto had, what was it, four points last night? Man, they should have told that guy to stay at home. That dude came back and he's been great.

[00:48:22]

But what's interesting about winning against the Sabers is the Sabers fans literally walked out. There are calls this morning for Don Granato to lose his job.

[00:48:33]

I mean, when are we going to stop? How many coaches you got to fire?

[00:48:37]

Yeah, I think the least got into that trap for a while where it's like, is it the coach or is it Phil Kessel, or is it that no one else is an NHL player around Phil Kessel? Is it Jay McClemet's getting 18 minutes a night? You know what I'm saying? You remember those years.

[00:48:52]

And didn't we get our answer so loud?

[00:48:56]

Super quick.

[00:48:57]

Super quick. Phil Kessel had the two best years of his career, best three years of his career, immediately after, and had back to back cups, including leading his team in scoring in one of those cup runs. Yeah. Whoops. I'm trying to... No, not list of NHL head coaches. That's not what I freaking said. Oh, it is actually what I said. I'm going to type in, List of Saber's coaches. It is unfathomable how many coaches this team has had in recent... Dude, dude. Okay. Lindy Ruff was their coach forever, 1998 to 2013. He's available, everybody. Then Ron Rollston, 2013 2014. Ted Nolan, it says from '96 to 2015. We know that's not true. I think he was hired back. Dan Bilesma, 2017. Phil Helsley, 2019. I don't remember that. Ralph Kruger, 2021, and Don Granato was hired in 2021, and it's 2024. This is the longest tenured head coach- Ralph Kruger, by the way. That the savers have had since Lindy Ruff.

[00:50:13]

Ralph Kruger, by the way, who was not even coaching hockey when they hired him. No. He was coaching soccer in Europe. Yeah.

[00:50:19]

He coached in the NHL twice. It didn't go well either time.

[00:50:24]

Yeah. Hey, you know who we should take from? The oilers in the mid-2010s. Terrible. Or early 2010s. This is the thing. I don't know if it is Don Granato, but I could tell you that major injuries to guys like Tate Thompson and Devon Levi not performing well.

[00:50:40]

If it was just maybe the UPL plays better, if they give him the net instead of Levi at the beginning, I don't know if he plays better.

[00:50:47]

But there's so much. Listen, even if it is his fault, at some point, you're going to have to stop firing coaches. That's too much. It's too much. Has any team had more coaching turnover Other than them?

[00:51:00]

How much blame do you put on Kevin Adams?

[00:51:05]

You know what I think it is? Is they started really well and they fell out of the race. And fans are really disappointed.

[00:51:16]

Because this was going to be the year we all predicted they were making the playoffs. I did.

[00:51:20]

I thought they were going to be second.

[00:51:21]

And they added Bowen Byram at the deadline. Tell me-That's a really good move.

[00:51:24]

Which has been great.

[00:51:25]

Yeah. He got fined, I think, this morning. But whatever. He did.

[00:51:28]

He probably should have been suspended. It was a bad hit. But they started really well. Toronto is a tough market to play, and the fans are so hard on them. Yet, they haven't won a Cup since two years prior to the moon landing. There's some anxiety here. There's a little bit of bitterness here. The Sabers have never won the Cup, and they haven't made the playoff since when?

[00:51:53]

I think it was 2014, did you say? Over a decade ago. 2011. The Buffalo Sabers currently own the longest playoff appearance throughout in the four major pro-sports. No way. They are tied with the New York Jets. They have each not made the playoff the last 12 seasons, which is the record right now, running current record for North American pro-sports. Holy moly.

[00:52:19]

Didn't Sacramento have the record?

[00:52:21]

They made it last year. They went to the playoff last year. The Lions, long time, didn't make the playoff. They made it this year. The Jets are at 12 seasons, and the Buffalo Sabers are at 12 seasons.

[00:52:32]

Their fans are pissed off, and they're right to be pissed off. That doesn't mean anyone needs to get fired. That's all I'm saying.

[00:52:38]

Yeah. Maybe they could just make some adept moves this offseason and maybe take advantage of other team's cap troubles.

[00:52:45]

Okay, let's go higher. How much blame is placed on the Pagula family?

[00:52:50]

Well, they've been there the whole time.

[00:52:52]

Twelve seasons, no playoff, no fan base besides the New York Jets right now is suffering as much as the Buffalo Sabers. How much of that the name goes to ownership?

[00:53:01]

I hate the saying, The buck stops with... Shut up!

[00:53:08]

Can you say it the way you said it again?

[00:53:11]

The buck stops with me. Something Dupes used to say, Well, the buck stops with me. What is the buck? Where is this buck? Is it an animal or is it a dollar?

[00:53:17]

Even the buck has won more recently than the Buffalo Saber's.

[00:53:22]

That's right.

[00:53:23]

That's right. Milwaukee buck. The Milwaukee Buck. The Milwaukee Buck. The buck stops at the chamber. All right, Adam, say your phrase.

[00:53:29]

The buck stops with me. No, I think you've got a town that loves its hockey, loves its football, happy to see the football team winning and in it. And Kevin Adams did... Listen, we were singing Kevin Adams' praises going into this season. I think the pagoulas can be blamed for making bad managerial choices leading up to Kevin Adams. And maybe it's one of those things, where Toronto Bay Beliefs fans are very, very lucky, and you may not think this, but When we were at the 15 or whatever playoff, 15-year playoff jet, except for that one blip short in the year that we made the playoffs, the rebuild was supposed to and probably should have gone much longer. The He snuck in in the last three games, and Matthew scored 40 goals. Who would have expected that from a rookie?

[00:54:20]

And every lightning player got hurt.

[00:54:23]

And every lightning player got hurt. And thank God for that. It was a great play off run. We even went up 2-1 on the Washington Capitals It was the first round and then lost. My point is that when you get to the point of you have all these young, talented players and they're very, very good, a lot of people believe that that curve is just straight up. And I think that Buffalo, as Steve mentioned, needs stability. Add to this group. You saw what this group did last year. You're seeing what they're doing this year. It's unacceptable. I get it. Just add to them. You added Bowen Byram. It's clear that's what they're going to do. And I think this summer is going to be a good one because I I know they have some cap flexibility, but they also have some brilliant talent. Their defense is crazy. Owen Power, Rasmus Towning, Bowen Byram?

[00:55:08]

I want to see that for a full season. Yes.

[00:55:10]

You saw Bowen Byram's first power play with the Buffalo Sabers. You saw that. Oh, it was hilarious. He went end-to-end, and he's like, Why is nobody with me?

[00:55:18]

Well, it'd be nice to... I don't know. Maybe you look at the assistance, but I'm just looking last year, the Sabers were 42, 33, and seven. That was the first time the Sabers won over 40 games. The The first time the Sabers won more than half their games since the last time they made the playoffs, which was the 2010-2011 season, where Lindy Ruff was their coach. The last time the Sabers made the playoffs and someone not named Lindy Ruff was a coach was the '96, '97 season.

[00:55:48]

Yeah, I'm looking at this.

[00:55:49]

Their fans are right to be upset, but I just don't know if... Don Granato got you 42 wins last year.

[00:55:55]

Yeah, I don't think it's firing the coach. I think it's adding to this group. It's a great group.

[00:56:00]

Great group.

[00:56:01]

Look at this. Olson, Tuck, Cousins, Thompson, Jeff Skinner when he's on, and then Daulein, Byram, Owen Power, whose contract extension kicks in next year, and it's pricey, but it's deserved. I don't know, man. I feel like they're going to be okay.

[00:56:16]

Who led the Sabers in scoring the last time the Sabers made the playoff?

[00:56:21]

Tyler Ennis.

[00:56:22]

No, that's not a bad guess. He was fourth. Okay. He had 20 goals, 49 points.

[00:56:27]

No, he was not in the playoff with them. I am going to say Maximus Fennike enough.

[00:56:34]

No. Was he even on the roster? It doesn't look like he was on the roster. I don't know. Thomas Wendek.

[00:56:40]

Oh, wow.

[00:56:42]

32 goals, 73 points Drew Staffard was number two with 31. Drew Staffard scored 31 goals and 52 points. Jason Palminville had 22 and 52, and Tim Connolly rounding up the top five.

[00:56:59]

See here, I'm mad at the pagoulas for not giving Rick Jenner at another playoff game before retirement.

[00:57:06]

Well.

[00:57:07]

That sucks. Yeah. He went a long time calling a lot of bad teams.

[00:57:10]

He had so many, so many iconic calls. Yeah. I still love him Justifying the Brad May call because people said he had that planned. He's like, You think I planned a Brad May playoff call? Man, boy, boy, boy. It has been a very, very, very long time. Not many of these guys... How many of these players are still in the NHL? I count Tyler Myers. I think that's it. Yep, that is it. That is it. He's the only guy. He's the only guy from the Sabers roster that made the playouts who's still in the NHL.

[00:57:50]

Moving on from the Sabers for a second. We have some news, and this is really interesting news. Breaking. Breaking, but adds to what we already... Now, I I told you that the Philadelphia Flyers brought some goal-tending help over from Russia yesterday. They're doing it again today because Ivan Fedotov's contract has been terminated by CSKA Moscow. He's 27. He has a 914 save percentage and 237 goals against average of 44 games. According to Elliot Friedmann, he said everyone's being very careful here for obvious reasons, but it's believed Fedotov is en route to begin his NHL career with the Flyers. Wasn't aware until this morning, but all sides worked on a solution over the last few weeks.

[00:58:30]

That is fantastic news.

[00:58:33]

That's so good. You know what's funny? That clip went up yesterday where we were talking about the Flyers goaltending situation. Sometimes I forget how quick the news cycle moves. I talked about Cutterheart and the investigation. People knew about that. That's recent news. I talked about a Russian goalie for the Flyers basically getting abducted by the Russian government. And people were like, What are you talking about? And wasn't this a story like last year? Yeah. For the year before. So Ivan Fedotov. I reached out to some KHL players, and they were like, no, this guy's the real deal. He's a crazy goal. He's one of the best goalies in the league. He was going to go over to the Philadelphia Flyers, and they basically arrested him at his gym, I think in St. Petersburg, Russia. And they shipped him off to the Arctic to be in the Navy, I'm pretty sure, because of conscription.

[00:59:27]

Yeah, the North Sea Fleet.

[00:59:28]

Yeah. And And it's because he wanted to go to Philly. It's because he wanted to leave the KHL and go to the NHL. And I guess for whatever reason, now that he's served his time, which included the KHL, by the way. It's bullshit. They're hopefully, fingers crossed, allowing him to-I believe he's on a plane ride.come to North America. I fucking hope so.

[00:59:56]

Yeah. Listen, I don't know. Are you complaining about fairness in Russia?

[00:59:59]

No, I'm hoping the guy gets to realize his NHL dream. No one deserves what happened to him.

[01:00:05]

No. I wonder with those two goalies, obviously, the Flyers have had serious goal-tending issues and are at risk of losing their spot in the playoffs. If they go to the playoffs with two unproven goalies like this, that could be quite the story. That could be fun. You have no idea what you're going to get.

[01:00:21]

No. And does anyone have an adequate scouting report on either of those guys right now?

[01:00:28]

I would hope the Flyers I mean, the Sharks, we actually didn't talk about this on the podcast.

[01:00:33]

The Sharks just fired the Russian Scout, Igor Iranko, because apparently he wasn't going to games or something. He wasn't adequately fulfilling his duties. It's not Every team has a robust staff over there right now.Difficult.

[01:00:50]

To do business.Yeah..

[01:00:51]

How do you...

[01:00:53]

I don't know. You just try to beat them. I think that's part of the reason you see a lot of goalies have a hot start to in their career is you don't necessarily know how to beat them yet. You don't have the scouting report, and then you see teams start to figure them out a little. But you can ride that to a round or two. What the Flyers are trying to do right now is have their cake needed, too. They sold, and now they're also trying to make the playoffs. If they're able to do that, how do you not call that a huge victory for Danny Breer?

[01:01:27]

I think it's huge.

[01:01:28]

I think it'd be, man, that'd be a great story. I'm cheering for the guy.

[01:01:32]

Producer Drew put in a request, gentlemen.

[01:01:35]

No.

[01:01:36]

He wants us to do some predictions for the show today. Okay? Okay. And this is as of Thursday, March 28th. All right? So we're going to start with division winners at the end of the season. Who will, with sometimes 10, sometimes nine, sometimes eight games to go, who will win each division? So we got in the Atlantic division. We'll start there. It's the division that I think we all watch the most. Boston and Florida are separated by two points. However, the Panthers have two games in hand on the Bruins. So the Bruins are ahead, but the Panthers have two games in hand on them.

[01:02:11]

And they're sub-500 in their last 10, though, the Panthers.

[01:02:14]

They are. Boston has lost 15 games in overtime. Florida has lost five. So Florida has got more wins overall. Who do you give the Atlantic division title to?

[01:02:24]

I still like Florida there. I think they'll tighten up over their in the last 10 games. They know how important going into the playoffs playing well is. They'll tighten up. I think they'll win it. Jesse. And I mean, if you're the Bruins, you probably want the least.

[01:02:43]

I'm going to go with the Boston Bruins. I think they're going to get the better goal tending down the stretch here. And I like the little two-point advantage that they have, even though the Florida Panthers have two games in hand. I don't like how they struggled recently. I think the Boston Bruins, they know how to win from last year, and they captured the President's trophy. I think they just continue to roll along. They win back to back Atlantic Division Championship, something that nobody thought in their mind going into the beginning of last season would happen. And I think they do it again.

[01:03:15]

In the Metropolitan, we have two teams vying for the same spot. The Carolina Huracans have played 73 games. They have 97 points. The New York Rangers, who are the first team to clinch a payoff spot this year, have played 72 games, one less than Carolina, have 100 points. Who do you give it to?

[01:03:32]

The Mighty Blue Shirts. They have games in hand, three-point gap that's really difficult to make up. It's going to be the Ranchers.

[01:03:40]

Jesse. Yeah, there's not enough games left, I think, unless the Ranchers really falter.

[01:03:46]

And they've been 8, 2, 0 on their last 10.

[01:03:47]

Yeah, I'm going to side with the Rangers here.

[01:03:49]

Carolina, just for notes, have been 7, 3, 0. And that's how good the Rangers have been. You know what I mean? Yeah.

[01:03:54]

They've lost ground on the Rangers despite winning seven of 10.

[01:03:57]

This division a couple of days ago was a a lot more exciting, but the Winnipeg Jets have gone on a bit of a losing streak lately. However, Dallas has played 73 games. They have 99 points. This is the Central division. The Avalanche have played 72 games, one less than the stars, 97 points. And the Jets have also played 72 games, 94 points. Who are you giving the Central division to?

[01:04:19]

The Avs have gone nine and one in their last 10, and they have made up two points.

[01:04:25]

That's because Dallas is eight and two.

[01:04:27]

Two point, and Dallas has won five straight. I'm going to give it to Colorado. They're playing so stupid good. They had one hiccup the other night against Montreal. I think Colorado is hot enough to pass Dallas.

[01:04:40]

Jesse.

[01:04:41]

For a team that it feels like all year, I've been waiting for them to get it going. They only have 19 losses on the entire season. I feel like the Dallas stars are hitting their stride right now, and I think they hold on to this lead here. The Avalanche have really struggled on the road, and not every game is played at home. It ball center where Nathan McKinnon could put up a million points. So I'm going to say the Dallas stars hold on to the lead here in the division.

[01:05:05]

All right. Now, let me ask you this question a different way. When you look at the Pacific, the Panthers, my gosh, the Vancouver Knux and the Edmondson Oilers. The oilers They have 12 games left. The Knucks have 10 games left, but there is a eight-point difference between the two of them.

[01:05:21]

Yeah, that one's not really a prediction.

[01:05:23]

It's Vancouver.

[01:05:23]

Could Vancouver lose the Pacific division?

[01:05:26]

That's my question.

[01:05:28]

They go winless?

[01:05:30]

Yeah, that's what it would have to be, right?

[01:05:31]

Their blip is over. They went through a stretch where they weren't playing very well. They're playing great. They're beating everyone. They're fine.

[01:05:40]

Okay. Now, I'm going to go in the Eastern Conference again. Who will be The second wild card team in the Eastern Conference. Currently, it's the Washington Capitals who are two points up on the Red Wings, and the Capitals are five points up on the New Jersey Devils. And by the way, they're one point behind the Flyers, so it could be the the Flyers.

[01:06:00]

You know what? I'm going to say it's the Flyers.

[01:06:03]

You think the Capitals are going to displace the Flyers?

[01:06:05]

Yeah, and I think the Flyers dropped down but managed to hold off the Red Wings.

[01:06:09]

Jesse Blake.

[01:06:10]

Yeah, I think you nailed it. That's where I was going as well. I think the Capitals are going to, I think, take that third spot in the Metro, and everybody's going to be shocked that they're going to do it with a minus 20 goal differential and with zero expectations on this team. The Red Wings, though, I think hop over the Flyers. I'm going I would say that the Flyers.

[01:06:32]

Yeah.

[01:06:32]

That sad collapse at the end, even though they're in a playoff seat for the majority of the year. I think the Red Wings take the second wild card spot there.

[01:06:42]

Jesse, that would be heartbreaking.

[01:06:44]

The Flyers inserting two random goalies into this is so fun.

[01:06:47]

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Now, they haven't been great of late, but they do have a six-point gap on the St. Louis Blues. The Vegas Goldenites and St. Louis Blues both have 10 games remaining, but the Goldenights have six more points. So rephrasing the question, is there any possible way that either of you can see the St. Louis Blues coming in and snatching the second?

[01:07:08]

I'll say no, and then Steve, you can say anything more.

[01:07:12]

Adam, what year is it?

[01:07:13]

It is 2024.

[01:07:15]

Oh, so it's not 2019? That's right. Oh, okay. No, it's over.

[01:07:19]

Okay, we got our eight playoff teams in the West.

[01:07:22]

I mean, that overtime loss to St. Louis the other night was a dagger.

[01:07:27]

Okay. That was really bad. Okay. Now, My question to you guys is, where do the Leaps finish? Do they finish in a wild card spot or they finish third in the division?

[01:07:36]

It's funny. I was actually just looking at that, and I expected Tampa to be... You know what I just realized?

[01:07:45]

They're 8,1,1 in the last 10.

[01:07:46]

Not only are they 8,1,1 in the last 10, but I was like, Oh, the Leaps still have an eight-point gap on them. And then I realized I was looking at the Capitals. The Lightning are two points back of the Leaps, and everyone is sick. What if they just have the Atlantic division flu and they're hoping to drop down and play the Rangers? Yeah.

[01:08:09]

What if this is all 3D check?

[01:08:11]

Yeah, they're just smart, man. They got it all figured out.

[01:08:13]

Do you think they match up well against the Rangers?

[01:08:15]

I mean- The Rangers are just not the boogie, man. The Rangers are an extremely good team. I've watched the Leifs beat the Rangers. I've watched the Bruins kill the Leifs. I've watched the Panthers kill the Leifs. I've watched the Hurricains kill the leaves. Okay, let's go with the team that we've actually seen the leaves beat. It's still none of them are easy matchups. Tampa's hitting their stride. They made some good additions. Everyone's sick or hurt on the leaves. I'm going to say the leaves end up in a wild card spot.

[01:08:49]

Jesse.

[01:08:51]

I don't think the leaves are... I don't know if it's not necessarily trying... Everybody's trying to win games every night, but the leaves just need to get healthy. And that should be the focus, I think, number one heading into the playoffs. I don't think they care really where they place in this seating in terms of the Eastern Conference. And I think Tampa needs to be playing well to be going into the playoffs. I think they're more in that mentality. And I think it's illustrated by their 8-2 record to close the season here. So I'm going to go Tampa takes third in the Atlantic and least fall down to the first wild card spot.

[01:09:24]

Eight, one-on-one.

[01:09:25]

Gentlemen, eight, one-on-one.

[01:09:26]

There you go. If that's the case, based on that, where do the Leaps finish in the playoffs? From what you've seen.

[01:09:33]

First round exit.

[01:09:35]

Against Broadway, against New York.

[01:09:40]

Who's the favorite?

[01:09:41]

Oh, New York. They have to be.

[01:09:43]

So here's what we've had for a number of years now. We've had the Lefs go into playoff series. And what I've said is take the fact that they're the Leaps out of it. Looking at all of their regular season performance, But looking at them on paper, they should win this series. And every year, except for last year, they lost.

[01:10:05]

Yeah.

[01:10:06]

Even the Montreal one, which is so mind-blowing. But even Tampa last year, you're like, Okay, someone's got to knock them off eventually. The Leaps added all these players.

[01:10:17]

The year before, you thought then, what was it? 2021?

[01:10:21]

2022.

[01:10:21]

Sorry, 2022?

[01:10:22]

2022, not really. No. Last year with ROR, with Ryan O'Reilly, I'm like, Oh, my God. Please let this be enough, and they still like-22, I don't think. Yeah, 2022, not really. That's the exception. Well, there have been years where you're like, you know what? Outside of the fact that they're the least, they should win. This is not one of those years. This is one of those years where I'm like, no, they're not the favorite. They won't be the favorite against the Rangers. They won't be the favorite against the Panthers. They won't be the favorite against the Bruins. Even if they were to go into a series against the hurricanes, if that were to happen, they won't be the favorite going into that.

[01:10:57]

Well, they'll be the favorite against the Flyers when they meet.

[01:11:00]

Yeah, for sure. I want them to... Well, I mean, last time the Flyers went to the Stanley Cup final, they were the seven seed. Yeah.

[01:11:09]

An LA one being a seven seed. Eight seed.

[01:11:12]

Oh, there you go. Eight seed. But you're asking me who is favored, and it ate the leaves. I'm not going to put it in the words Jesse did because my mouth won't let me, but it's going to be a very tough year.

[01:11:25]

Okay. Where does Edmonton finish?

[01:11:28]

Oh, Man. Man.

[01:11:31]

In the playoff. You don't mean in the division?

[01:11:35]

No, I mean, they're probably going to play the LA Kings in the first round.

[01:11:39]

I thought as recently as a week and a half ago, the Oilers were going to play the Kings in the first round and kill them. I really did think that.

[01:11:51]

Now the Kings look good.

[01:11:52]

And then I watched the Kings beat the Vancouver Knucks. The Knucks were the first team in that game to hit 20 A lot on goal, and they did it with three and a half minutes to go. The Kings know who they're preparing to play. I thought the oilers would have killed the Kings recently. They've really locked it up and tightened it up, and they got Arvidson back, and they're hot after a severe cold. I still think the Oilers win, but they're not playing as well as the Kings are right now.

[01:12:29]

Yes. Kings are on a four-game win street. Okay. Jesse.

[01:12:34]

It's a real tough one. History is telling me to just side with the Edmondson Oilers because that's how the last two years have gone. The Oilers have eliminated the Kings in the play-off. Home ice is a big advantage. And there haven't been substantial changes in either roster in terms of the star players are all there. And what the Edmonds and Eilers have done is added, I think, in terms of their depth scoring is definitely more robust than it was last year. And the Kings have had emergencies on their own, right? Having Quintin Byfield take another step and adding PLD, and we'll see what performance he starts to give in the playoff. That'll be fascinating, obviously. Let's see if he starts Karen Moore. So It's a different teams around the edges, and goal-tending for the Kings is completely different, too. I don't know. It's a real tough one. If you take a step back and if you look at their records from March first, they're pretty much identical. The Oilers are 8, 3, and 2. The Kings are 8, 3, and 1. This little hot blip here isn't that too much of a difference. I'm going to just lean towards the Edmondson Oilers because they're the favorite, I think, going into the series.

[01:13:40]

But I need more the next couple of 11 days of games to really make a determination. Okay.

[01:13:46]

Winnipeg Jets, likely to play the Avalanche in the first round or the Dallas Stars.

[01:13:52]

Oh, man. Oh, man. Wait. Oh, yeah, you're right. And they're probably not going to get past. Well, they could get passed by Nashville.

[01:14:02]

They could? Oh, yeah. Yeah, they could.

[01:14:03]

And then you have the honor of playing the Knux or one of the stars or Avalanche again. Man, you play so well all year, and you're rewarded with that. I hate to say it. Again, Connor Haleba can steal you anything, but they've been banged up for a while. They haven't been playing their best for a while. I think they're one and done.

[01:14:27]

Wow. Jesse Blake.

[01:14:29]

Jets Aves?

[01:14:31]

Yeah, let's say it's Jets' abs.

[01:14:32]

Or Stars Jets.

[01:14:35]

What did you do?

[01:14:37]

He did both. He did both. Okay.

[01:14:39]

Whose favorite? Jets' or abs in a series?

[01:14:43]

I think the Aves are favorite, but I think the Jets upset.

[01:14:48]

Interesting. Jets or stars?

[01:14:50]

I'll take the stars.

[01:14:52]

Jets or Knux.

[01:14:54]

That's a hard one. Right. Knux.

[01:14:57]

So I'm not being a jerk by-No, not at all. Picking the third seed.

[01:15:02]

Yeah, not at all. I just didn't know which one you did. You think the Jets beat the app? I think the Jets match up really well with the Colorado Avalanche, and they take care of business. The Avalanche, I don't think they win a game in... What's it called now, the arena in Winnipeg?

[01:15:19]

The Winnipeg Arena. What do they call it now?

[01:15:21]

I forgot. Isn't it the... It's not the cell phone company anymore?

[01:15:26]

Is it still that?

[01:15:27]

Winnipeg.

[01:15:28]

Toffolies Barn.

[01:15:31]

Man, to be in the playoffs. Canada Life.

[01:15:34]

Canada Life Center.

[01:15:35]

That's right. It used to be whatever the Western...

[01:15:39]

Yeah. I know it changed. Anyways, I don't think they win a game there. I think The Jets will have home ice advantage in terms of the Avs aren't the greatest road team. And I think Hela Bucks steals a series. There you go.

[01:15:53]

That'd be fine. Okay. Does Matthews hit 70? No.

[01:15:56]

No. Well, missing a game really It hurts. I think it shows you how seriously he's taking the playoffs, and he's prioritizing the playoffs over personal milestones. Players play through stuff all the time. He's not even at 60 yet. He's not hitting 70, I don't think.

[01:16:14]

And Jesse, You said a flat. No.

[01:16:16]

Yeah, I think he misses two games here. I think it's going to be tough.

[01:16:20]

Okay. Who wins the Heart Trophy?

[01:16:24]

What a race. Matthews is going to probably hit 65 and not even get nominated. He He's going to be better than the year he won it. And it's down to Kutrav, who is a monster. And I think a lot more people are willing to vote for Kutrav now that Tampa is for sure going to make the playoffs. You have Nathan McKinnon, who is also a monster. And you have Connor McDavid, who I think probably finishes third.

[01:16:49]

Connor McDavid is 31 points shy of a thousand right now with 12 games to go. What did I tell you?

[01:16:55]

What did I tell you? He's at arm's reach. Would anyone put it past him?

[01:17:00]

Jesse, I know has some interesting takes on this. What do you like? Who do you like as the MVP?

[01:17:05]

It's Nathan. It's Nathan. It's Nikita Kucharoff, I think. That's where my vote goes easily to Nikita Kucherov. What he's done with the Tampa Bay Lightning in terms of his point share of the goals they've scored, the amount of goals that he's been in on, and just the gap from him to his next teammate. Right now, he has a 124 points, and next up is Braden Point, who has 81 points. That's a 43 point gap between him and his next closest teammate. He is, in the definition of the trophy, the most valuable player to his team. And he's been the most outstanding performer, I think, this season.

[01:17:49]

I never actually gave you an answer. Nathan McKinnon is an absolute monster. And most years, what he's done wins him the heart for all the reasons Jesse He just said. I think it's Kuch.

[01:18:01]

Norris Trophy.

[01:18:02]

That's the last one I'll do. And just for a comparison, McKinnon is at 123 points. Ransanin is at 97. Wow. So he has at least a teammate who's in his-Wheelhouse? Neighborhood. He lives down the street, at least. Nikita Kuchara, Braden Point, lives in another city.

[01:18:19]

Nikita Kutrow, by the way, is four points shy of his career high, 128 points.

[01:18:24]

You got to remember when guys vote on these awards, they're going off what they've seen all season, but they're also going on what they've seen lately. There's going to be a bias towards, playoff teams, obviously, there's going to be a bias towards guys who have had ridiculously good stretches leading into the playoff. That's why I think it's going to be Roman Yosey. Roman Yosey.

[01:18:51]

Yeah, he's been amazing.

[01:18:52]

We talked about this recently. No one remembers that he won in 2020. No one remembers that. So I think he's going to win it this year, and it's going to mean more.

[01:19:03]

Jesse.

[01:19:05]

I think it's going to be Quinn Hughes.

[01:19:10]

Quinn Hughes? Yeah.

[01:19:12]

That's a good pick. I think it's just he's going to lead the league in the points by a defenseman. I think it's going to be run away by the end of it. And I think for the longest stretch here, he's been the most outstanding defenseman. And people like to harp on his defensive abilities, like McCar's better and all that stuff. He laid a hit this time.

[01:19:31]

I saw it. He's laid one hit.

[01:19:32]

It was cool. I got no problems with Quinn Hughes' defensive game. I think where the Vancouver Knucks finish in the standings, I think he'll owe more credence to the trophy than Yosey will.

[01:19:44]

I was being difficult with Roman Yosey. It's going to be Quinn Hughes, but you got to be a hipster.

[01:19:48]

I think all season it's looked like, Hey, this is Quinn Hughes' Norse trophy here, and I haven't wavered off of that.

[01:19:53]

He won it probably before American Things.

[01:19:56]

It feels like he won it in November, and nothing he's done has been taking them off of that pedestal. So I don't know. It is.

[01:20:03]

All right, gentlemen, thank you very much. I wanted to just see where we were going into Easter. And then once we come back here at the end of this, and we're going to do the press conference here in a second, but the next show we do will be in April.

[01:20:15]

What? That's crazy, though.

[01:20:18]

I think it's crazy.

[01:20:19]

It is crazy.

[01:20:20]

The calendar move?

My bracket is actually doing really well, but I'm- Shut up. I'm up there battling with Drew in our Bracket Challenge. But right now, I'm really invested into the women's March Madness journey because Kaitlyn Clarke is just a fire cracker of energy on social media. The amount of people who are just interested in what she's doing, it's fun to watch. I'm fascinated to see when she goes up against South Carolina, if they can take them down.

[01:21:37]

How come nothing I said yesterday made the show? What? How come Ted Leonsis didn't make it?

[01:21:44]

Oh, did you want to?

[01:21:45]

I said to you another thing. Oh, yeah, you did.

[01:21:46]

I'm sorry.

[01:21:46]

None of that made the show. What's none of that made the show?

[01:21:49]

It's because F U, dude. That's why.

[01:21:50]

What is there to that story? So the Capitals are going to say in Washington, Hey, Ted.

[01:21:56]

Is that all of it there? No, not yet. Of course, that was Virginia that rejected him. He's going to Maryland now. But then there was that now there's a rumor that Monumental Sports and Entertainment in the City did come to an agreement.

[01:22:07]

No, it's not a rumor. They had a press conference. They did? Okay. The mayor of DC and Ted.

[01:22:12]

How much more money did they pony up?

[01:22:13]

50 million they added to it.

[01:22:15]

So it was 550 million versus-It was 500, and then now I think it's 550, if I remember correctly.

[01:22:21]

It might have been 550 all along. All that over $50 million.

[01:22:24]

Now, $150 million is a lot for us.

[01:22:25]

No. Well, he wanted the whole thing covered. He wanted them to just pony up for the Is that what he was arguing for? But they signed a deal to stay at Capital One in that district area through 2025, which is great for the people. 2050. Got to get my numbers straight. 2050, which is a long time, which is great for the people of DC. He lost. He got rejected by Virginia, got rejected by Maryland. He couldn't go find his other funds anywhere. It's good to see that they're going to have a revitalization to Capital One Arena, which they that they desperately need. There's going to be a lot of infrastructure built around Capital One as well. They're improving Chinatown, all this stuff. And the city is poning up $550 million, which is quite a bit. And I wish it was zero, but it's a thing.

[01:23:13]

$550 over the next 25 years, which is $22 million a year.

[01:23:18]

It won't be like... No, that's how long they've agreed to stay there. That's just the revitalization project. The improvements won't take till 2050.

[01:23:29]

No, it's going to That would be ridiculous. No, no, no.

[01:23:31]

I mean, oh, okay. I provided it weird.

[01:23:33]

Yeah, I don't know if they're going to amortize it over the course of their length there. I don't know.

[01:23:37]

I've never made a purchase this big.

[01:23:40]

Right, right. And then the other thing I sent you was Martin Broder. I don't know if you have that in front of you.

[01:23:45]

Okay, yeah. You pull it up. Just pull it up. I don't know which text conversation this came in.

[01:23:50]

Broder, the other day spoke with Pierre Lebrun of the Athletic, and he had some complaints about the goalie situation around the National Hockey League. And he said to Pierre Lebrun in The Athletic, I think we baby our goalies, the New Jersey Devils executive vice President of Hockey Operations told The Athletic. I see it. I'm part of it. It's like my goalie coach will say he's played five games the past eight days. I'm like, so?

[01:24:18]

If I could fart harder, I'd throw up my back.

[01:24:21]

The sport has changed, but the position has changed a lot just because of the workload that these guys are having. It's so volatile, that position. One year, you can be on the top of the goalie. You can be the top goalie. The second year, it's like you don't even belong in the league. It's weird how really volatile the position has become. It's the system of 1A and 1B that's going to create that because it's always going to be, we can't play back to games. You're so scared the number one gets hurt. And so you baby that guy for the longest time. So these guys are playing 55 games. They should be playing 65 to 70 games like we did.

[01:24:58]

Thanks, Doc. Thanks, Doc. It's very interesting. I think because Martin Brodur was exemplary, was world-class, was all time at stopping pucks, he now thinks he's all time at sports science. That's not how it works today.I.

[01:25:26]

Also wouldIt's not how it works.

[01:25:28]

How come no one's been able to do Like, either everyone is an entitled wimpy baby these days, or that's simply not how it works. And I think thinking that everyone's just a wimpy baby is a lazy, dumb way of looking at the world.

[01:25:50]

Can I suggest that, and he's seen this, the game has changed enormously. When he was playing, he was playing with the neutral zone trap gods who So he really only to stop 20 shots a game most of the time, right? It was the dead fuck era, and the devils were amazing.

[01:26:07]

Because your teammates had license to murder whoever they wanted.

[01:26:10]

Well, but also, Steve, they weaponized the two-line pass rule with the red line. And So they were able to shut you down in the neutral zone. And yeah, so if you have a really quiet game and you're not... I think there was some conversation with some other goalie about, how are these guys keep pulling their hamstrings and stuff? It's because the game's way faster than it used to be. Way faster.

[01:26:33]

Kevin Weeks told me a story years ago. I won't talk about the goalie that he was talking about, but Kevin Weeks was a kid, young kid growing up. I don't even know if he was playing junior, so he definitely wasn't drafted or in the NHL or anything. He was getting ready to go on the ice, or I think he was just finishing up a workout, and then an NHL goalie was coming on the ice after.

[01:26:57]

Okay.

[01:26:59]

And Weeks had this whole routine, and he was getting ready, and he was stretching this, and he was stretching that. And he goes to the NHL goalie. He goes, How come you don't stretch? And the goalie said, You can't stretch fat. Or you can't pull fat. That's what he said. He's like, I'm not going to get hurt. I don't have any muscles to injure, which is not how it works at all. And that's a goalie who played in an era where you could play a bajillion games. And it's It doesn't work that way anymore. It just does not work that way anymore. And you're silly to think it can. I'm sorry, but it's disheartening when Brodeur has the career he has, he's then given a position of authority, and he says something that's just so easily, provably, ignorant. You know what I mean? Kids these days. Well, there it is. Go sign a 50-year-old then, Martin. Go sign someone in their 50s. Go get a time machine or go fuck yourself. I'm so sick of this super... It's such a lazy way of thinking. Kids these days. Now you're just every old man ever. That's so disappointing.

[01:28:19]

Shut up.

[01:28:21]

I don't know if I could say it any better.

[01:28:24]

I wasn't expecting dead silence after that.

[01:28:26]

Is it surprising? No, I was just waiting for you for your finish because I was going to ask, is it surprising considering how we've seen Martin Broder's career play out. I feel like this should be expected by the guy that he's displayed as. Him being, I don't know if there's a better word for it, but hard-headed during his tenure as an NHL goalie. I feel like that mentality Borns takes like this.

[01:28:52]

Yeah. Well, it's ignorant then.

[01:28:57]

Take the Binnington Broder incident.

[01:29:00]

Yeah. Well, because Binnington out hard-headed Martin Broder. Yeah. And he rode that to a Stanley Cup. I don't know. You hire someone who has the experiences that... The reason you hire a person like Martin Broder is his abundance of experience, and he gives you nothing.

[01:29:24]

I wouldn't say that.

[01:29:27]

No, no.

[01:29:28]

What about the skills he can teach the goalie.

[01:29:31]

Jesse, he won cups. He won Vesna's. He's in the Hall of Fame. He's arguably the greatest goalie of all time. And then you ask him about modern goalies, and he gives you the same answer you could find in any fucking coffee shop in North America. Are you serious? You ask any random... If you walk up to a stranger, What do you think about goalies these days? And they'll give you some dumb fuck answer like- You go to a coffee time, you see somebody Can I be honest?

[01:30:01]

He was drinking coffee there by himself. He asked me about hockey.

[01:30:02]

This is for the same reason why I've never believed that only athletes can be on sports panels. Great that you played in the league. You look at the success of a Paul Bissen Net, right? He's been extremely good at it. But I have seen 40 guys from the league for every Paul Bissonet. I see it a lot, actually, when I see some of these guys start their podcast and stuff, and I won't name this specific show I'm talking about. But they start these shows and they don't know why no one likes them anymore. I'm a pro athlete. You used to like me. Why don't you like me anymore? And the reason you don't like you is because you don't know how to relate to fans. You're not a pro athlete anymore on my favorite team. And now your job is to relate to the people that are watching, and you can't do it because you never were. And that part for me, it's like, Okay, so you're giving me the theory about having athletes on panels, and I believe that there should be some, but it doesn't need to just be athletes. The theory about it is they're going to offer insights that the average person can't.

[01:31:07]

I have very, in rare, rare situations seen it where it is so unbelievably different. Honestly, I mean that. I say this as a person who produces content and watches content and is obsessed with how segments go on television, and I'm obsessed with how they shoot it and how they light it and everything. We all are. I look at that and I'm like, This is literally bad content from guy who played five seasons in the show and is getting a spot because some executive was like, Oh, man, there's an NHL player talking to me. It's just crazy, man. I wish I I didn't know who you were talking. Oh, I think you know exactly who I'm talking about. I don't think I do. I think it's just, to me, it's one of those things, where just like in management, there are some amazing examples of brilliant hockey players who turned into brilliant coaches and brilliant general managers. And then there's guys who were just people that learned it and who tried. Because Marty Brodeur's opinion there speaks to a guy to me who's like, I'm set in my ways and you can't teach me otherwise.

[01:32:13]

I can't believe that What a resource. Can you see? What a resource. It's like, dude, you're asking the greatest goalie of all time a goalie question. It's like asking God the meaning of life, and he gives you that.

[01:32:28]

No No one- Can you see Joe Sackik saying something like that? I hope not. Can you see Steve Iseman saying something like that? God, I hope not. I couldn't see Shani. Now, I know they're not goalies, but the point I'm trying to make here is those guys learned and moved with the time. What you're talking about with Marty is somebody who is out of touch.

[01:32:49]

Well, it's just a disappointing nothing answer. And one thing- That's basically self-aggrandizing.

[01:32:58]

I was so much better than these guys.

[01:33:01]

Fart. We're talking this is an all-time great. But one thing former NHLers, including former greats, do a miserable job of is selling today's game. They don't sell today's game. Call it what it is. This is the best hockey has ever been, ever, ever, ever. All of the goalies playing today are better than you. All of them. All of them. You put them in a time machine, put them back, put you in a time machine, They'll shoot you forward. They're all better than you. They eat your food. All the players are playing with better equipment. They're fucking faster. They shoot harder. They shoot better. They're all better. It's never been better. The skill set is better, and you'll just never hear that. You just hear about how they're babies. I don't like dealing with their agents. They don't play enough games. They get sick all the time. They don't play through injuries like I do. They don't play through injuries like you do. You ever take a look at how your friends walk? They look like Emperor Penguins. I don't know. I cannot stand. Listen, I know for a fact, I've talked to people. There are people at NHL head offices head office who hate us.

[01:34:17]

There are people at NHL head office who love us and literally listen to every episode. There are people within the leaves who hate our guts. There are people within the leaves who love us and listen to every episode. And I like to think we're fair about the stuff within the game that we criticize. But one of the things that I wish people would realize more is I'm the biggest champion of hockey fucking rules. The league is genuinely stupid about a lot of things, but hockey as a sport has never, never, never, never, never legends like Marty Brodur are just like, Guys, don't play enough games. Shut up.

[01:35:05]

I like that. Do we have time for the press conference or we're going to wrap there?

[01:35:08]

Sure. On your point about athletes starting podcasts and that stuff. I was listening to a podcast recently and he was talking about all the NBA player podcasts. I forgot which incident he was specifically referencing, but he was saying, I was like, I don't need to score 10,000 points in the NBA to say something dumb into a microphone. All these athlete podcasts that are starting up-Yeah, look at me.

[01:35:29]

It's like- I got zero NHL points, and I talk all sorts of shit.

[01:35:32]

These guys, like Paul pierce in particular, he'll go on there and just say some inflammatory stuff. It doesn't add weight to what he's saying just because he played in the NBA. He hates today's NBA.

[01:35:45]

The arrogance to be like, Give me a 10-day. He earnestly said, Give me a 10-day contract. Paul, they'd break your knees. They'd break your knees, Paul.

[01:35:55]

You think you could just not play? There's a reason you're not playing right now. If you could be, you would be.

[01:36:02]

It's also a low stakes thing to say because he knows he's never getting one. Exactly. It's there to puff his own feathers. That's why so many people are like, Come on, Pistons.

[01:36:11]

The Pistons guy, here, put your money where your mouth is, Paul.

[01:36:13]

But I Here's the 10.

[01:36:16]

We got nothing to lose. Here you go.

[01:36:18]

I'm a true believer that just because you played in the league doesn't mean you're entertaining on a microphone in a studio setting or on a podcast or a radio show. The two things Things are... Like your knowledge of the game, obviously, is there, but it doesn't mean you have good analysis. It doesn't mean you're a good talker. None of that just because you played in the league. It's a different skill set.

[01:36:42]

That should be so concerning to every Devils fan.

[01:36:46]

This guy is... What was the vice President of Hockey Operations?

[01:36:50]

Listen, you have the greatest goalie of all time on staff. Why do your goalie suck?

[01:36:55]

You finally traded for a good one. Did you see the Vitek fan in quote?

[01:37:00]

No.

[01:37:02]

Well, to start the season, Lindy Ruff said, he's like, By the end of his time here, I think they're going to be building statues to Vitek Vanechek. And then when asked about the Devils in San Jose, he's like, I don't want to talk about it. As in, something happened.

[01:37:15]

Who said that? Ruff? Vanechek.

[01:37:17]

He's in San Jose now.

[01:37:20]

So wait, Ruff on his way out? No.

[01:37:23]

Sorry. At the start of the season, Lindy Ruff was really bullish on his team. And why not? So what he said was, Vitek, Vana Cech, they're going to build statues to this guy. He was popping them up, which is great. That's what you want your head coach to say, fantastic. Whether or not he really meant it, who cares? They thought he was going to have a good year. Now it's 60 games later, 70 games later. Vana Cech is a San Jose shark, and he doesn't want to talk about what happened in New Jersey? And we also remember, have the Binnington story where Broder with St. Louis told him, You're going down. And he said, No, I'm not.

[01:37:54]

And he went to Providence.

[01:37:56]

Yeah. I'm wondering if... I don't know. I just wonder if that's connected connected. Maybe there's an ethos that isn't working. I mean, why is it? It's crazy. You do have one of the best goal tenders of all time, and you've had some of the worst goal tendings of all time this year.

[01:38:11]

Because being the greatest goalie ever doesn't necessarily make you great at teaching, bestowing it. He's also not the goalie coach. Yeah. But what's the point? What's the point of having a goalie coach? You have Martin Brodur, and he knows so much better. And you know what? Ask the whole sports science Department, too. They don't need them. Bunch of quacks. Get them out of there. Get them out of there. And also, I beat the ducks in the Stanley Cup final. So what do you even need quacks for?

[01:38:39]

Stop.

[01:38:42]

It's just... I don't know. Steve, why are you so triggered? I am. I'm triggered by, for some reason, hearing the greatest resume, at the very least, in the history of goaltending, just say something any jerk could say anywhere.

[01:39:05]

I had my doubts about Wayne Gretsky on the air, but listening to him talk, he's been amazing.

[01:39:10]

You know part of the reason why he's worked out so well? He doesn't get on air and go, Hey, you know today's NHL sucks. He doesn't get on the air and do that. And also he's just like... Someone at TNT was like, Hey, Wayne, you're Wayne Gretsky. And he went, Oh, I am. Should I just tell stories? And they're like, Yes, Wayne, you should. And he just tells stories, and they're always the best.

[01:39:37]

One thing Wayne has is a reverence for today's game. It truly seems like he's a fan of today's players, and it comes through on the microphone. He's somebody who is really good at doing the on-air TV stuff. What point was he going to make? Wayne Gretsky, I think, is a great example of an athlete who, if he goes to a certain medium, he's great at it. But Wayne Gretssky wasn't a great head coach. No. Wayne Gretssky isn't good at teaching other people how to be Wayne Gretssky. Wayne Gretssky is great at talking into a microphone and talking about the game today and analyzing and talking about the games that he's watching. But these are all different skills. And Martin Brodur might be a great... He might be the greatest podcaster of all time. We haven't had given him that opportunity yet.

[01:40:24]

Martin, just tell us stories.

[01:40:26]

But Martin Brodur, as an executive whose job it is to analyze a team, isn't good at that just because he won a lot of games as a goalie.

[01:40:37]

Maybe I'm carving the guy a little too much for one quote, but it's a really shitty quote. But you shouldn't assume that Brodeur is going to turn around the devil's franchise in their goal setting just because he himself was good at hockey. I feel like that's a lot of reasons some of these people are in these positions is because you say, You are good at this. You could just score goals. I'm going to put you in charge of our team, and hopefully you could make them score goals. Those are different skills. Your knowledge applies to that, but some people aren't good at applying that knowledge. Yeah.

[01:41:07]

Or just...

[01:41:08]

Do we need to do a press conference?

[01:41:09]

Don't say anything interesting.

[01:41:11]

Let's do one little trivia. All right, let's do a trivia. I think it's really fun because it came up in our show today. Okay. The Presser S-D-P.

[01:41:18]

The Steve Dangle Press Conference. Now to make up with Devils fans, am I going to have to put on Devils Pajamas?

[01:41:26]

Devils' Pajamas? I know somebody's got a good set.

[01:41:29]

The Cack said, Who's Adam's favorite character in Home Alone?

[01:41:34]

Fuller, obviously.

[01:41:36]

Magic Mitch said, Is Adam going to keep pretending he didn't put a Home Alone character in a Christmas story?

[01:41:41]

Oh, my God.

[01:41:44]

It's Everybody's asking.

[01:41:47]

Adam, if you played 70 games this season, you wouldn't say such stupid shit. Yeah, Adam.

[01:41:51]

If you played in the show, you would have had some good takes about Home Alone. But this is from Smile @smilefor35. Maddie, you got to get out a notepad because we're going to do, name all NHL Arena's Trivia. I thought of it 4 AM. What we're going to do is... Is anybody going to catch that? @smilefor35 says, Can Steven Adam name all current NHL arenas?

[01:42:18]

That's so ironic because we couldn't name the Winnipeg.

[01:42:21]

That's why I think we got to bring this up. I'm going to set the bar. You guys combine your heads. You're going to give me one answer for each team. If you get... What's a fair number?

[01:42:36]

24? What about 16? That's halfway.

[01:42:39]

No. You got to get more.

[01:42:40]

Get 24 out of 32 or 25. Okay, whatever 70% is. That's like my grade in high school.

[01:42:46]

Okay, what's around 70? Let's say 25. 25. You got to get 25 right.

[01:42:54]

That's so many. All right. That's a lot.

[01:42:55]

No, no. But I named the team. You have to name the team, though. No. Jesse will name the team.

[01:43:01]

Oh, damn. Oh, yeah. I'm naming the teams.

[01:43:02]

I don't want to be like, I don't want to think about the city and then think about that.

[01:43:05]

We're going to go in alphabetical order. If you hit 25, you win. You only get to submit one answer for each team. This is going to be a good time. First up, the Anaheim Ducks.

[01:43:21]

Oh, God. I have no idea.

[01:43:31]

Oh, no. Oh, no, guys.

[01:43:37]

Snoop Dog...

[01:43:38]

Oh, no. I thought this was an easy one.

[01:43:42]

Maybe it is. Facebook Arena. I don't know.

[01:43:46]

No, isn't it...

[01:43:47]

You guys are going to submit an asset?

[01:43:49]

I feel like it's a phone company.

[01:43:51]

It is. It is a phone company. Verizon. Verizon? Verizon Center.

[01:43:57]

No, I don't think it's Verizon Center. What is it, Jeff? This is fun.

[01:43:59]

The Honda Center.

[01:44:02]

Oh, I should have known that.

[01:44:03]

You should have known that. It's near San Diego. Damn. All right. Arizona.

[01:44:07]

Mall Arena.

[01:44:09]

Boston.

[01:44:10]

Td Garden.

[01:44:11]

Buffalo.

[01:44:12]

Oh, oh.

[01:44:14]

That's changed. It has. But it's been this for a little bit now.

[01:44:19]

But have I been there? No.

[01:44:21]

No, not since it's been there. Oh, shit.

[01:44:24]

Oh, we should really know this one.

[01:44:27]

Yeah. Damn it. They play the It's going to be a national anthem every game.

[01:44:31]

Yeah, we should know this. I'm embarrassed. They're very nice to us. I'm also freaking tired, man. Okay. They're very nice to us.

[01:44:37]

The Pagoulas own it.

[01:44:41]

The Pagula Center. The Pagula Perugula.

[01:44:44]

The Keybank Center.

[01:44:47]

Shit. Yes, I did know that. Damn.

[01:44:49]

The Calgary Flames play.

[01:44:51]

Scotia Banks, Alabama.

[01:44:52]

Excellent, Adam.

[01:44:53]

There you go.

[01:44:54]

This is a hard one. The Carolina Hurricanes. Son of a I'll give you a hint. Adam should know this.

[01:45:03]

I should know this? Mm-hmm. Virgin?

[01:45:05]

No. Not Virgin. No. Virgin.

[01:45:07]

Virgin radio. He said Adam should know it. What is it? The Maryland Dentist Center? Adam freaking know.

[01:45:12]

Well, the people who own the naming rights have ties to an area that Adam knows.

[01:45:20]

Perth? Scarborough? Okay, hold on. Perth? Pittsburgh?

[01:45:29]

It's got to be Could it be?

[01:45:31]

It's got to be like... Is it... Oh, it's a health thing, isn't it? It's the health company, isn't it? Your insurance or something?

[01:45:39]

Heinz, you're getting there.

[01:45:45]

There's PNC Park in Pittsburgh, which is a baseball stadium. Is it PNC Arena?

[01:45:52]

What's your guess?

[01:45:53]

Let's go with that. What is it?

[01:45:55]

Pnc Arena.

[01:45:56]

Pnc Arena. Yeah! I got it from Amazing. I gave you a mountain of heads and face suggestions.

[01:46:03]

You did.

[01:46:04]

And then face the suggestions.

[01:46:06]

Why they went with Carolina? I don't know.

[01:46:08]

Pnc Park is where the Pittsburgh Pirates play. That's right. That was your hint. Chicago Black Ox. It's easy.

[01:46:15]

United Center.

[01:46:16]

Thank you. I said this one earlier. Colorado Avalanche.

[01:46:21]

Oh, no. Oh, no. You guys. Dude, it doesn't matter. The arena name doesn't matter.

[01:46:29]

No, it never matters.

[01:46:31]

It doesn't.

[01:46:32]

Neither does fuller, but everybody thought that was fucking hilarious.

[01:46:34]

I said this in the show. I'm pretty sure today. Did you? Yeah, I said this because I was talking about McKinnon and the Avs not being able to play it on the road.

[01:46:44]

Something Power or Excel.

[01:46:47]

Is it not the Excel Center? No. Excel, no. Excel Center, no.

[01:46:51]

It's not.

[01:46:51]

Excel gum? I have no idea. You guys. I'm the slightest clue.

[01:46:56]

I know.

[01:46:56]

Drew is going to kill it.

[01:46:57]

We started the show for I know. No, you don't know because we started the show for years.

[01:47:05]

And Steve's right.

[01:47:05]

Talking about the apps. For two years on this show, we started the show-Lyle High Center. No, Ball Arena. Ball. That's manscaped. That's dumb. There were the pre-roll for years.

[01:47:20]

That also wasn't a good clue.

[01:47:22]

Yeah, you didn't listen. That's fine. That's great. Columbus Blue Jackets.

[01:47:28]

Oh, my God. I've been there.

[01:47:30]

Oh, my God. It's the same name from when you were there, I'm pretty sure. I should have lowered this bar. You were right about 16.

[01:47:38]

We should have just done 16 teams.

[01:47:40]

That's how little it matters. I know. It doesn't matter.

[01:47:43]

I don't feel so bad for not knowing if you don't know.

[01:47:45]

Give me something.

[01:47:47]

The Hive. No, there is... Is there a university connection there? No. Okay. I don't know. I'm going to hate this. Steve? I'm going to know this. Do you have anything? I could feel Steve, anything? Don't know.

[01:48:02]

Nationwide Arena. Dallas.

[01:48:07]

Fuck! Guys.

[01:48:10]

I don't know either. Oh, my gosh. You guys are bad.

[01:48:14]

Adam got up at four, and I have a newborn.

[01:48:18]

Excuses. My brain feels like a piece of shit. Please submit more excuses.

[01:48:22]

I don't know, man. Doesn't Matty have to leave here? This is the end of the show. The The Planetarium.

[01:48:32]

I don't know. American Airlines Center. Who cares? I knew that one.

[01:48:35]

You're yelling at me for not knowing the sponsor.

[01:48:37]

I know that one because- You don't know American brands.

[01:48:41]

It's either sponsor, followed by center or arena.

[01:48:43]

This one's easy. Who cares? The Red Wings.

[01:48:46]

Little Caesars. Oh, my gosh. Little Caesars Arena.

[01:48:49]

I'm an oiler.

[01:48:52]

Okay, is this Roger's Place or Roger's Arena? I think Roger's Arena is Vancouver.

[01:48:57]

So I'm going to say Roger's Place. Roger's Place.

[01:48:59]

Correct. Yes. Yeah. Florida Panthers. If you listen to the CJ show, they said it on last episode.

[01:49:08]

Dale Arena.

[01:49:11]

Mr. 3 of 5. I don't know, man.

[01:49:16]

Picks of debt.

[01:49:19]

It used to be FL Live.

[01:49:22]

Oh, wow.

[01:49:22]

That's when I knew it. Snowbird Center. I don't know.

[01:49:26]

Amarent Bank Arena.

[01:49:28]

What the fuck is that place?

[01:49:29]

They recently changed it. If you listen to the show, they talk about it. Amarent Bank? Merrill's Bank. Merrill's Bank. Clippers. Clippers. Kings.

[01:49:38]

Was that Crypto. Com? Yeah, Crypto.

[01:49:40]

Yes. Crypto. Com. Minnesota Wild. This is an easy one, too. Wait, is that the Excel Center?

[01:49:46]

Maybe. Let's go with it.

[01:49:48]

Yeah. There's another word in there. Excel Energy Center. Xl Energy Center. Well done. Montreal.

[01:49:55]

The Bell Center.

[01:49:56]

Nashville.

[01:49:58]

Bridgestone Center.

[01:49:59]

No. Bridgestone Arena. Thank you. That's a correct answer. Yeah. Bridgestone Arena. Devils. Easy.

[01:50:06]

Oh, that's Prudential.

[01:50:07]

Prudential what?

[01:50:08]

Center.

[01:50:08]

Yeah, correct. Easy. New York Islanders.

[01:50:13]

Oh, UBS Arena. Yeah.

[01:50:15]

Easy. New York Rancher.

[01:50:17]

Msg.

[01:50:18]

Ottawa's Senator.

[01:50:19]

Canadian Tire Center.

[01:50:20]

Thank you.

[01:50:21]

Philadelphia Flyers.

[01:50:23]

Isn't it the Comcast Spectrum Center or something like that?

[01:50:29]

Well, it's Comcast I know the place across the street is Xfinity Live or whatever.

[01:50:33]

Maybe it's Xfinity Arena.

[01:50:34]

It's a bank, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, no, it isn't. They're all banks. This one's a bank.

[01:50:39]

What is it? Oh, wait. You got it. It's a bank.

[01:50:41]

You can't look up banks.

[01:50:44]

Yeah, it's a bank. I wasn't looking at banks. Sorry. My YouTube's open on my thing, and I was just- You get money from them. What? A great hint. Yeah.

[01:50:56]

You need a loan. Go to these guys. Wells Fargo. Excellent.

[01:51:01]

Yes.

[01:51:02]

Wells Fargo what?

[01:51:04]

Center.

[01:51:05]

Correct.

[01:51:06]

For anyone yelling at us, we're Canadian, and we don't have that here.

[01:51:08]

Pittsburgh.

[01:51:10]

Pbg Pains Arena. Yep.

[01:51:11]

Thank you. San Jose.

[01:51:13]

This should be-S-A-P City Center.

[01:51:15]

Yeah. Excellent. Seattle Crackin.

[01:51:18]

Climate Pledge Arena. Excellent. I went there this summer, and I saw Climate Pledge.

[01:51:24]

I didn't go- You didn't go in.

[01:51:25]

No, I was outside of it.

[01:51:26]

Because they weren't playing hockey. That's right. The St. Louis Blues.

[01:51:30]

This is another place I've been.

[01:51:31]

I've been there. They've changed the name of this, I'm pretty sure, since you've been there.

[01:51:35]

In the last five years?

[01:51:36]

Yeah, I don't think it was named this.

[01:51:38]

The St. Louis Arch is Overrated Arena.

[01:51:40]

We went Blues Center.

[01:51:43]

I don't think you're ever going to get this one. Okay, what is it? A car. There's your hint. Okay.

[01:51:49]

Hyundai Place.

[01:51:51]

Who's advertising? It's a car? Wasenter.

[01:51:56]

They might have been named 2018. Were you there?

[01:51:59]

I was there 29th. I was there January 2020.

[01:52:03]

Okay, so yeah, it would have been named this. And it's a car company.

[01:52:07]

Well, not Honda.

[01:52:09]

I guess not. It could be one of those. Just give me a car company.

[01:52:12]

The Mazda Memorial Dollar Center.

[01:52:14]

I'm going to say...

[01:52:15]

What's your guess? It's something... Center.

[01:52:20]

Center?

[01:52:20]

It is a center. It's the center.

[01:52:21]

I watched the game that was in this building three days ago. I don't know.

[01:52:27]

I don't know.

[01:52:28]

enterprise Center. Who gives...

[01:52:30]

That's not a car company.

[01:52:32]

See, that's the rental company. That was the trick.

[01:52:35]

The trick threw us off. That's why you didn't get it.

[01:52:38]

You needed the trick to throw us off.

[01:52:39]

Tampa Bay.

[01:52:41]

Oh, you should know this.

[01:52:43]

I played so many playoff games there, I believe. You've been there, Adam.

[01:52:47]

I've been there four or five times.

[01:52:48]

Yeah, you've literally walked into this arena. It's still the same name all those years you went. And it never mattered.

[01:52:56]

Hey, guys, here's LFR. Here's everything that happened in the game over the next 20 minutes, and I'm going to yell and scream. I'm going to sweat. And no, Steve, slow down. Slow down. What was the arena called? No one's ever asked me that.

[01:53:11]

You don't have a guess for this one? The Thunderdome. You don't have a guess for this one. This one should be a slam dunk.

[01:53:17]

The PPG Thunderdome.

[01:53:20]

Oh, no. I don't know.

[01:53:21]

I can't remember. Amalee Arena. Amelie. I should have known that.

[01:53:26]

What is Amalee?

[01:53:27]

What is Amalee?

[01:53:28]

I don't I've heard that name on the arena. First of all, didn't retain that information. Second of all, every time I have heard it, never once was like, I wonder what that product is.

[01:53:40]

It looks like they're an oil company.

[01:53:43]

Amily Oil. Amily Oil now.

[01:53:45]

They make water oil.

[01:53:47]

Yeah.

[01:53:47]

Oh, like, man.

[01:53:51]

Toronto.

[01:53:52]

Scotia Bank Arena.

[01:53:53]

Maple Lake, of course.

[01:53:55]

Vancouver.

[01:53:56]

Rogers's Arena.

[01:53:59]

You got a to nail these. You're going to hopefully go five for five here. So we did Toronto, we did Vancouver, which is Roger's Arena. Vegas.

[01:54:08]

Oh, my God.

[01:54:10]

How do we not know?

[01:54:12]

I know. Maddie, what did you just say?

[01:54:14]

I know this one. Oh, gosh. If they held their media day in this building, I might know it, but I don't because they held it in freaking Henderson. You guys, this is a sad effort.

[01:54:26]

This one I should know.

[01:54:27]

This is a sad effort.

[01:54:29]

They awarded the Stanley Cup final there less than a year ago.

[01:54:31]

Yeah.

[01:54:32]

When the leaves went, coyotes, mullet, and then to this place, I was like, Oh, we get mullet and then blank because the atmosphere is we get two different T-Mobile Arena. You guys know that one.

[01:54:48]

We don't have that here. That's bad. I don't give a shit.

[01:54:51]

That's bad. All right, what else we got? Washington. I said it today, 20 minutes ago.

[01:54:57]

Ted Lyons is swinging his dick all over I said it 20 minutes ago.

[01:55:02]

Monumental Sports Arena.

[01:55:03]

Capital One Arena.

[01:55:05]

There you go. Winnipeg.

[01:55:08]

Canada Life Center.

[01:55:10]

Canada Life Center. How many is that, Maddie?

[01:55:14]

Okay, 21 right and 11 wrong. You got 20? We got 20. There's absolutely no way we got 21 right.

[01:55:23]

No, they did.

[01:55:25]

I would switch the numbers and still be surprised we got to 11. Are you sure?

[01:55:29]

No, it's because you They gave them second chances on a lot of things.

[01:55:31]

You're like, Well, we'll do this one right, actually. You said center place for a lot of them.

[01:55:37]

All right.

[01:55:38]

That was agony.

[01:55:39]

You said they had to get at least 25, right? Which they-Yeah, they didn't do that.

[01:55:44]

I've been proPro expansion. That's 21? I've been pro expansion. I want the NHL to retract to, I don't know, seven or eight teams just so that I don't have to play that every week.

[01:55:54]

I honestly thought you'd be so much better at that.

[01:55:56]

No, but it doesn't matter. It absolutely doesn't matter.

[01:56:01]

It might not matter, but it might be knowledge that you have.

[01:56:05]

I bet.

[01:56:08]

I bet most fans.

[01:56:10]

I think that's the thing about Trivia. It doesn't have to matter It's just Trivia.

[01:56:16]

Most fans couldn't get to 10.

[01:56:18]

Look at the camera, Matty. Put on solo cam. Look into the camera. Challenge, everybody. What did you get?

[01:56:25]

Without cheating, what did you get? Most fans could not name 10 of the arenas currently in the NHL. We just got 21 out of 32. I didn't say that.

[01:56:37]

I just want you to know that.

[01:56:38]

I didn't say that. Let us know how many you got right playing along. And if you got more than 10, Steve is going to come to your house and he's going to kiss you.

[01:56:46]

You know how many people are just going to be like, Oh, you got 32.

[01:56:51]

Lovingly on the forehead.

[01:56:52]

Yeah, like a little forehead kiss before you go to bed. A little kiss. Yeah.

[01:56:56]

All right, now we're wrapping. All right. I'm exhausted.

[01:57:02]

Oh, man. I'm glad we know about fucking cell phone place. I thought you knew.

[01:57:08]

Cels phone kiosk center.

[01:57:09]

I thought you'd know.

[01:57:12]

If I played over 70 games, I would have got it.
