Now, Sammie's stat line, if you look at it and you're not a fan of the Leaps, you just look at his season on the whole, an 889 save percentage stinks, a 303 goals against the average stinks. But since he went on waivers-Yeah, it has to be divided. Since he went on waivers, he's been one of the league's best goalies, and I believe his winning percentage is second-highest in the league by goalies who have played more than 21 games, second to Thatcher Demko.

[00:00:24]

It's March 15th. Helyas Samsonov, even dating back to when he was asked, has only failed to get a point in five games.

[00:00:38]

That's amazing, actually. Five.

[00:00:39]

He has six overtime losses, five regulation losses. He's been spectacular, and he's given them a chance to win every single game. Give up a stinker here or there. Sure. Rebound you don't love here or there. Every game he's in net, they have a chance to win. It's one of the most miraculous things I've ever bloody seen. A goalie who you couldn't put in the net. The Leaps wouldn't even put him in an American Hockey League net.

[00:01:11]

Yeah, for 10 days.

[00:01:13]

And they call him up And they said, You're good? And he goes, We'll see. And he has not missed a step from last season.

[00:01:23]

He was called up on January 10th, 2023, since then 13 and three, nine 9:12. Pretty darn good.

[00:01:32]

9-12 is well above league average. He got an assist last night.

[00:01:38]

Dude, he's great. One point.

[00:01:40]

One point. He's second in the NHL and wins since getting called up with.

[00:01:46]

Yeah, because the Sabers have been on fire. The UPL had a rough start to start the year, and this second half for him has been absolutely fantastic.9:29?Yeah. He's been driving a lot of the Buffalo come back to a playoff spot. That's amazing.Yeah.What on Earth? It's It proves. If they just got frigging goal tending at the beginning of the year, Buffalo could be easily in a playoff spot right now.

[00:02:06]

Four shutouts? Holy shit. Anyway, this is about Sammie. He's doing great.

[00:02:11]

Off of Stuart Skinner, shout out 9, 16, 13, and 4 since January 10th as well.

[00:02:16]

Two of the most miraculous come back. Stuart Skinner, by the way, the other night, he allowed the first two shots he faced, and then with two minutes left in the first period, makes the first save of the game, and it's one of the One of the best saves of this NHL season.

[00:02:32]

Question for you guys.

[00:02:34]

Getting back to Matthews.

[00:02:36]

Sorry.

[00:02:36]

The least are going to have to pick a starter for the playoffs. If it happened today, because we think Joe Wall is going in against Carolina tomorrow, Who do you pick?

[00:02:47]

Samsonov. Absolutely no question. Absolutely no question. Joseph Wall has played three games since returning from injury. Sammie has essentially not lost in 2024. I love Joseph Wall. I think he's eventually going to be the starter. That could end up happening by the end of the season.

[00:03:08]

By the way, it did happen in the playoffs, too, because Sammie got injured, right? So it did happen last year.

[00:03:13]

There's a month left in this season. I'd be perfectly comfortable with Wull being the starter. It's clearly Samsonoff. It's not even a conversation.

[00:03:21]

Jesse, you agree? Yeah, I know. The three games thing you outlined is the other guy hasn't even been playing. No.

[00:03:27]

In two of those games, they made him play were against Boston.

[00:03:30]

Yeah. And 881 in those three games? Not great. You can't sit there and say one guy has been virtually unbeaten, the other hasn't played because he's been injured, and go with the guy who hasn't played. So it's an easy decision right now for Sheldon Keef, but this next month has to play out. We'll see if they split the time and Joseph all emerges back to who he was last year. But right now, no, it's not easy. It's a very easy decision.
