It has been said that history is written by the person at the typewriter, but I've always wondered, who else was in that person's orbit? Who did the person who made history depend on? Often it's impossible to find out, but once in a while we get lucky. The story was not only recorded, it's really good. Hi, I'm Liza Powell O'Brien, and this is what my podcast from Team Coco is all about. It's called Significant others, and each episode tells a story you might not know about a person you probably do. In Season 2, we're bringing you eight more stories of lesser known figures who played integral roles in the lives of some of history's most notable and notorious subjects. We'll learn how Amelia Earhart would neither have found Fame nor possibly perished at sea had it not been for her husband, George Putnam, and how Benedict Arnold might never have turned on his country were it not for his wife, Peggy. We'll learn who is really to blame for Friedrich Nietzsche's connection to Nazyism, and we'll dive into the story of Duke Ellington's collaborator, Billy Stray Horn, who wrote, among many other things, What Might be the Great Musician's Most Famous Tune.

With the help of some super talented Team Coco friends like Ted Danson, Flula Borg, Laura Ramoso, and Open Mike Eagle, we'll bring these surprising stories of interdependency to life. A series of brilliant guests like Sarah Vowell and MIT Professor, Daryn Asamoglu, will help me think out loud in our follow-up episodes about how these stories from the past are relevant to the present. I do hope you'll join us for the second season of Significant Others, premiering February 14th, wherever you get your podcasts.
