Producers with drained batteries are highly unproductive. The idea that working longer and harder makes you more productive and better is outdated.Legendary producers outfocus, outinvent and outwork everyone around them when it’s game time. And then, after they’ve expressed their mastery in a hot burst of flaming audacity, they go dark. Ghost. Silent. And recover. And read. And exercise. And daydream. And regenerate. This seasonal or cyclical way of running a day and then a week and then a month and then your years is unpopular. And counterintuitive, given the way we’ve been socially programmed to think about productivity.Yet if you really want to express your genius, lead your field and stay in your sport for the fullness of a career, it’s the best way to operate.

I wanted to record this audio for you to remind you of a very potent yet simple idea, which is rest and recovery is not a luxury.
It's a necessity. So taking a box of books up to the cottage to get away from the world, to do some deep thinking is not a waste of time. It's one of the best uses of your time. Making the time for silence and solitude and stillness might make you feel like you're not doing enough. But those are the kinds of things that give you the ideas that change the game. I guess what I'm suggesting to you with great love and respect is simply this.
Sometimes you have to slow down to speed up and there's no point in being busy being busy around the wrong things. As usual, please share this audio with someone who will benefit from hearing it. And I wish you all greenlights. I hope he received excellent value in today's episode of Daily Mastery, if you'd like to go deeper.
