[00:00:27]

You.

[00:00:27]

Enjoy a best of the end of the turn show with Stude Cuts, starring.

[00:00:33]

All things football.

[00:00:35]

No one knows.

[00:00:36]

The.

[00:00:36]

Rules of.

[00:00:37]

The Pro Bowl except Pete Manning.

[00:00:39]

I consumed exactly one minute of Pro Bowl coverage.

[00:00:44]

Which one? Was it good?

[00:00:46]

It seems like not. I know I will give you the minute that I consumed. The minute that I consumed was Gino Smith dropped back to pass and then decided to run. I heard the voices that were talking about, and I was trying to recognize them. One of them was McAfee, and then it was Herb Street. It didn't seem like anyone knew what the rules were. He had run, but he wasn't supposed to run. It was flag football. All I noticed was, Wow, I'm surprised that that stadium is full of people for this, that football is so popular that that stadium is full, and that no one knows what the actual rules are to the flag football.

[00:01:20]

Well, there's actually a controversial ending to the game because it seemed like the same situation was going on with the rules, where Payton Manning seems to have been the only person that knew the actual rules of the game. He did not like the final play of the game where a knee was taken, and he was running on the field to protest the outcome of the flag football game in the pro bowl games. He wasn't happy. I don't think that he won the argument.

[00:01:43]

But at the end, what we had Payton Manning fighting for was legitimately and seriously.

[00:01:49]

The rules. Yeah. Oh, yeah. He was pissed. You didn't see this? He was mad. He was running on the field and he was- He loves rules, dad. He was feeling. -i was screaming at the official, which I believe, if I heard right, is a Big Ten official. I think they had college referees calling the game. I don't exactly know. But he was very mad at how it ended. And he was yelling at Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins was saying, they told me I was allowed to kneel. Don't come after me, Payton Manning, please. I'm sorry. I was just following what they told me I could do. Then Eli had a Gatorade bath afterwards. It was a whole thing. It was very exciting, pro ball games.

[00:02:21]

I believe the rules were is that once you got inside the five, you were not allowed to run the ball. The NFC, there was a late fourth down to try and ice the game. It went incomplete, but there was a flag, a penalty flag. Then the NFC had the ball inside the five and Kirk Cousins went to take a knee to kneel off the clock. And Payton Manning, the second Kirk Cousins' knee hit the ground, Payton Manning runs out of the field, goes, That's against the rules. He's yelling this. He was still mad about it 15 minutes later. How seriously competitive he was about the AFC versus NFC flag football game that he was fuming that they violated that you can't run inside the five rule.

[00:03:01]

Do you guys think, because I was wondering this, do you guys think that Payton is just super competitive and he'd really wanted to win the pro board? Do you think that it's because Eli beat him?

[00:03:09]

It's such a great question because Eli has always known the rules and the rules win. And there's my big dumb-faced brother winning this goddamn game when he doesn't care about anything the way I care about it. It's why I'm the more successful brother because I adhere to the rules. And Eli won because he was on the sidelines doing what? I read that he was with... Oh, he was hanging around with.

[00:03:29]

Pete Davidson, right? Yeah. He beat braided twice at a Super Bowl. I mean, not certain who won that battle, to be honest with you.

[00:03:36]

They were very serious about the whole thing. They had designed plays. They were calling the plays. They were arguing about which play.

[00:03:42]

They wanted to run. But, Billy, imagine what it's like to be Payton Manning's little brother when you're nine. It's probably been that for Eli Manning for his entire life, getting buried by being the second Manning.

[00:03:54]

Imagine what it's like to be Coupe.

[00:03:58]

Imagine what it's like to be Koop. Imagine what it's like being Arch.

[00:04:01]

Oh, boy.

[00:04:02]

Eli seems to take it all in stride, though. He seems to have a really funny personality. He knows that he's just a different guy than Payton Manning. If anything, like Stugat said, not because he beat Tom braided twice in the Super Bowl, that certainly helps, feels like Eli Manning won the war there. But just the overall-.

[00:04:20]

Expectations.

[00:04:21]

All of it. -lifestyle. He got to take it way less seriously and have about the same amount of success and have fun.

[00:04:28]

I saw that he was a top 10, I think, if I read this right, he's a top 10 quarterback in both receiving yards and touchdowns, which is like, Eli Manning? Who knew? I think maybe, and this might be crazy, and you guys... Every time I try to say something that may be crazy now, I think about it and think, Would you want this on a billboard? But I'll say this. Eli Manning, I wonder if he was the more talented Manning brother and realized he could just Coast by on like, seize his whole life. You know what I mean? He naturally didn't have to try as hard. He could be the C student quarterback who has decent success while not taking it so seriously. He could just live a more chill life and still have the success and the same number of Super Bowels as Payton, and he didn't have to work as hard.

[00:05:14]

You chuck in a couple of A's, a couple of A-pluses. When you play Tom braided, you beat them twice and then boom.

[00:05:20]

Better career. That's when you need to flex. You flex when you need to, not all the time, because then what happens? You end up going to Germany and some weird thing happens with your neck, and then all of a sudden you can do everything again.

[00:05:29]

Payton had the better career than Eli Manning. Well, they won as many Super Bulls, right? But what you're saying is a good point because Eli seemed to take it a little bit less stressfully. You guys have seen this on God bless football. You've seen a more relaxed Eli Manning, who you know today is texting his brother, Hey, I beat you there at the end. You knew the rules. But I- You know he's- W. He is burying his brother today, and Payton is still enraged about knowing the rules and it didn't help him.

[00:06:04]

Also, if the reverse happened and Payton beat Eli, Eli is so non-plused about everything that he's like, You beat me in the pro bowl. Whereas it's a difference between caring and not caring. When you care about something, it hurts when you lose it. Whereas Eli doesn't care about anything. Kurt will do a middle finger on live television. He's just living life.

[00:06:26]

Having fun. Billy might have this right as a life principal. He'd be a little worse, but a little happier, a little.

[00:06:33]

Less uptight. How do you think Payton reacted when he found out Tyler Huntley was on his roster?

[00:06:40]

I think Tyler Huntley had two passing touchdowns.

[00:06:42]

This year. How did.

[00:06:43]

That happen? He did.

[00:06:44]

They just ran out of options, clearly.

[00:06:46]

We talked last week about three Carolina Panthers quarterbacks had better stats. But the game is a marketing. It's still. It's just the NFL. Look, I don't know if you guys. The way that I experienced yesterday as a football day, sad.

[00:07:03]

Very.

[00:07:03]

Sad.

[00:07:03]

Just a sad day. Oh, football's gone out. You're going to wait another week and they're going to throw this slot out there just because you need something because you're addicted.

[00:07:12]

I will say I do admire the NFL because the Pro Bull in its previous format stunk, and it seemed like they had a Levitard show shipping container pitch meeting where it's like, Well, what can we do? All right, well, a wide receiver is going to jump on a trampoline and try and catch a one handed pass behind.

[00:07:28]

His back. That was awesome.

[00:07:29]

There's going to be somebody pushing Eli Manning on a sled. There's going to be kick tacto, where Long Snapper is going to try and hit the.

[00:07:37]

Bottom square.

[00:07:38]

A carnival of football. Right. Honestly, I watched a decent chunk of it and I had fun. I mostly enjoyed it. But I also went to both NHL All-Star events this weekend, and I would be totally fine if All-Star Games just went away. They're not interesting. They're not fun. They're not fun to go to. Why are we doing this? I know it's a big ten-pull event for the NFL or big leagues to host all their corporate partners, and it's a money driver, and it's.

[00:08:06]

A 10-pull event for-That's it, you've answered all your questions right there. I know, but.

[00:08:08]

They're not entertaining. The NBA All-Star, I guess the Elamending help the NBA All-Star Game, but most of this stuff, it's not a good product that they're putting out there. The NHL game, and particularly the skills contest, was boring. It's not fun to watch professional athletes. We know when they compete at their very highest level are amazing at what they do. They try half-heartedly most of the time. It's just not fun to watch.

[00:08:33]

Stugach mistakes, Jake Owen for Aaron Rogers with former.

[00:08:39]

Nfler, Mike Golec senior and.

[00:08:41]

Country singer, Jake Owen. You are now aware of the amazing mistake that I have made here this week, where I had a 20-minute conversation with a guy that I thought was Aaron Rogers, thought was my quarterback, but it was not. It was Jake Owens. So have had it. Go ahead.

[00:08:58]

I deserve it. I don't even know what to say. So when I sat down at the players' meeting, Jack Wagner was on my right and on my left was Jake Owens and Marty Fish. Right. And they proceeded to tell me that story to which I'm thinking, You're a sports person. You're a Jets fan. You know who Aaron Rogers is. Aaron Rogers has been on your.

[00:09:17]

Frigging show.

[00:09:18]

I've hugged Aaron Rogers.

[00:09:20]

And you.

[00:09:21]

Actually thought, Jake Owen was Aaron Rogers. And kudos to him for playing along with it. Because he had to think you were the biggest tool in the world, which.

[00:09:28]

You are.

[00:09:28]

Yeah, thank you. I was to me. They don't even have.

[00:09:31]

The same haircut now, by the way. Listen, in my defense, Jake Owens says that happens to him all the time. In my defense, when we did the interview with Jake Owens, that's going to air on this week's episode of Godbless Football. The second he got up from this inflatable couch, there was a kid waiting there, okay? With an Aaron Rogers jersey, wanting Aaron's photograph.

[00:09:52]

There is no in-your-defense.

[00:09:53]

They look like-.

[00:09:54]

A kid doing that is fine. Someone who's been in the sports world for decades. There is no shot that that's acceptable or, in my defense worthy.

[00:10:04]

He looks.

[00:10:05]

Like him now. Oh, I mean, I.

[00:10:06]

Know who Jake Owen is. Yeah, so Jake Owen, he really sunk into it.

[00:10:10]

He did. Kudos to him for that.

[00:10:11]

He did. He decided, like a minute or two in like, Hey, I'm just going to go to this guy. I'm going to play. I'm going to roll.

[00:10:16]

Because you know there's some big-time people who wouldn't have. They might have been offended. Kudos to him. What a.

[00:10:22]

Good dude. But now that I've had taught, now that I know what happened, so I've had time to think back at the actual conversation I've had. The fact that I stare at Jake Owen and looked at him and said, Hey, you're my quarterback. He looked back at me and said, I am your quarterback. Then I hugged him.

[00:10:39]

What I want to know at what point did he realize you weren't just joking around and you were serious, and then he decided to play.

[00:10:47]

Along with it. I think, Marty tipped him off just roll with it because Marty's really good friends with me. Yeah. Our next guest. I've had sleepless nights. I was up all night. I've been thinking about this all night. I've been running through the entire conversation I have with Jake Owen, who I thought was Aaron Rodgers yesterday on The Drop of the Range. I am mortified. But sometimes, listen, you got to face your demons. Right now, I am facing one of my many demons. Jake Owen is with us.

[00:11:13]

It's nice to be here. But I'm wondering if you would have ever even had me on your show in general if you hadn't thought I was Aaron Rodgers.

[00:11:20]

No, we were going to get to you because we're really good friends with Marty. I consider Marty one of our best friends. The fact that Marty let this go for 20 minutes- I all met at him.

[00:11:30]

I think Marty didn't even realize either what was going on until he did catch on, and then he just played along.

[00:11:36]

With it. But Jake, to be honest with you, you're the target this week. You're the guest that we wanted on. If my choice was you or actually Aaron Rogers, we would choose you. Well, thank you. Well, thank you for sinking into it the way you did yesterday on.

[00:11:51]

The Driving Range. Yeah, so we were on The Driving Range yesterday, and Johnny comes over and is like, You were really fired up to see me, and I had no idea who you were. No offense, but you just caught me off guard in these types of situations when a lot of guys will come, Hey, man, how have you been? And you get in that like, I'm great, man. How have you been? And so good with you, dude. And so that moment is when Marty said, How do you guys know each other? And I had no way to tell you because I didn't know you, so I just threw it out there. I was like, Man, tell Marty how we know each other. Perfect. He's like, You've been on our show five times.

[00:12:30]

At what point in our conversation did you decide, Hey, I'm just going to.

[00:12:36]

Sink into this. Well, I didn't know yet that you thought I was Aaron Roderick. I just thought you thought you knew me until you said word for word, and you started creeping me out a little bit because you're like, Oh, my God, dude, seriously. It went from an open conversation to you leaning in, whispering-That's how it works. -about things that I had no idea what you were talking about. You're like, Yo, man, we are so fired up about you coming to New York City, bro. At that moment, I realized I was like, Oh, he thinks I'm Aaron Rodger. At that point, I was like, Oh, man, I can't wait to come to New York. I leaned right into it.

[00:13:11]

Yeah, I leaned into it. How about the part where I asked you.

[00:13:14]

About mushrooms? Yeah, I didn't know if I could say that. But yeah, totally. You're like, What about those mushrooms?

[00:13:19]

I was talking in my last two weeks.

[00:13:22]

On tour with the day. I love mushrooms. I was like, Okay, maybe we do know each other.

[00:13:29]

Okay.

[00:13:30]

You.

[00:13:31]

Started having a lot of fun with it. I got the other angle from Marty on it where there was a lot of nonverbal communication.

[00:13:39]

You walked off and Marty's like, Did he think you were Aaron Rogers? I said, I think so. What's great about that conversation happening with you guys is the moment he walked away from you, I walked up to him and he's like, Brother, I got my quarterback. I'm looking around because I knew Rogers was on the course earlier, was on the driving range. I'm like, All right, yeah, you must have got him. But I turned to our video producer, Louis, and I was like, Jacob one looks a little like Aaron Rogers. There's no way that we all agreed. There's no way. This has happened.

[00:14:07]

Before, right? There's no way. Timeout, Jason. Jason Worth said that he did.

[00:14:11]

Last year was my first year here, and Aaron was obviously here last year, too, and Aaron's hair was longer like mine. There were so many times I was coming down the fairway and people were screaming, Aaron. Aaron. I'm not going to acknowledge that I'm Aaron, but this one kid, man, he was running at me with a Green Bay jersey. He's like, Aaron. Aaron. Aaron. I didn't know what to do. I was like, Should I pretend? And then this guy's like, That's not Aaron Rogers. And the kid just looked at me and was deflated. I was like, I'm Jake O'Doe, though, bro. I'm sorry, man. I'll sign your Aaron Rogers. He's like, Whatever, loser.

[00:14:45]

Local number one.

[00:14:46]

Still as pretty cool as what you tell. I'm happy to be here. Thanks for thinking I'm a lot more famous.

[00:14:53]

Than I am. How about the moment, though, where I stare at you, I said, You're my quarterback. You did.

[00:14:57]

It was a little weird.

[00:14:58]

You said that to me, though. No, no, no. This is what yousunk it. You're like, I'm your quarterback. I'm your guy. I know you're your quarterback.

[00:15:03]

You're like, I'm your guy. I'm your guy. And then I hugged you. Yeah, you hugged me a couple of times more than you should have hugged me. I was like, All right, we already hugged. It's a little.

[00:15:11]

Unsettling that if he actually knew Aaron Rogers, he'd treat Aaron Rogers that way, too.

[00:15:15]

Well, I started thinking about that. I was like, Man, Aaron Rogers is a funky guy to get to know. He's great, funny, and whatever, but he's not touchy feely, get a whatever. You were really touchy feely for thinking that I was Aaron Rogers. I was like, Maybe you guys have a weird thing or something.

[00:15:31]

The two times that I met Aaron Rogers, there's been a huge embrace. We have hugged each other. We have had conversation. It's been nice. I'm a Jet fan. He's on our show a lot. I told him the story.

[00:15:40]

This morning. You're my quarterback.

[00:15:41]

I told him.

[00:15:41]

The story this morning. You're my quarterback. You did. I told him you did.

[00:15:44]

What was his reaction?

[00:15:45]

Well, he laughed. And then in true Aaron Rogers' fashion, he looked at me. He's like, Jake, though you really do look good, though, man. He's like, What are you, 50 now? Oh, man. I know. I'm not. But it was funny.

[00:15:57]

Jake, I can understand how a little kid comes up to you. When you're little, everyone seems larger than life. I can understand how a little kid thinks that you might be Aaron Rogers.

[00:16:06]

Well, it's like I just said. When a little kid comes up to you and he's excited, you want to crush a little kid's dreams. Right. I went along. That's what you.

[00:16:12]

Were doing? Really? Scott's works insports. He's made my entire.

[00:16:14]

Weekend in sports. He crushed me my.

[00:16:16]

Entire weekend. I was like, Did you really, really think?

[00:16:20]

No doubt in your mind you thought I was- 1,000 %.

[00:16:23]

Were you drunk?

[00:16:23]

No, he must have been totally sober, but coming off a bender at the gorge.

[00:16:27]

He's in between dead shows.

[00:16:28]

You said that. You're like, I was just out of the gorge, which is why I thought you thought you knew me because I play music and I played at the gorge. I was like, Oh, he does know. I don't know.

[00:16:39]

That's amazing. So he came back to us and he's like.

[00:16:42]

Wow, we had the.

[00:16:43]

Greatest conversation. I was like, That guy.

[00:16:44]

Has a job?

[00:16:45]

I'm like, Now that he's a jet, he's treating me differently.

[00:16:47]

That's exactly what you said.

[00:16:49]

Here's what he said word for word. It was like he was a totally different person, Mike. He's just so chummy.

[00:16:54]

I said this morning, earlier this morning, I'll never have a relationship with Aaron, like the relationship I have with the guy who I thought was Aaron Rogers.

[00:17:01]

He was like.

[00:17:03]

You were way too nice.

[00:17:04]

To me. Like I told you earlier, I'm in a profession where I don't just have to be nice to people, but I've got a great mom and dad, man, and I was raised to just be kind to people. I think the world needs more kindness. And so when you came up fired up, I was like, I'm not going to be a jerk to you. I'm just going to be.

[00:17:18]

Nice to this guy. That's a laidback bureau in Jay going. But one of the things that stuck with me was that he said Aaron's in great shape. And you are in.

[00:17:29]

Great shape. I kept pointing to you.

[00:17:30]

I'm like, Look at the blue pants. You are in great shape, but you're also 150 pounds and five foot nine. You are not NFL quarterback shape.

[00:17:37]

I'm like six two. My driver's license says six three. I'm not a driver.

[00:17:43]

You'd be a tough driver back of all time anyway.

[00:17:45]

You.

[00:17:46]

Are not anywhere near professional athlete size at that position.

[00:17:51]

Easy.

[00:17:52]

Don't insult it. It's not insulting.

[00:17:54]

I mean, I was complimenting. I'm not insult at all, but I am going to win this week. So if you guys want to talk about that? Yeah, we do want.

[00:18:00]

To talk about that. How is your golf game? I did draft you.

[00:18:03]

My golf game is good enough to win, I think. I just have to put it all together. I've got the greatest caddy in the world. My dad, I'm caddy in for me. That's awesome. As long as he keeps my head.

[00:18:14]

Straight and I.

[00:18:15]

Can take my bag. Hey, Mr. Rogers. Mr. Rogers. Will she be my neighbor? Sorry, Jake.

[00:18:22]

But keep going. I want to hear.

[00:18:23]

You talk about the golf game. I know. I feel like I got a pretty decent chance. I played pretty well last year for my first year. I never saw the course and I finished, I think, top 10. And I don't say this arrogantly, but you have to come into a tour. I didn't just show up here to just have a good time. I really do. I've always been a competitor. And I love that this tournament is full of guys that made a living being competitive. So no matter what, you know that everybody's going to be grinding and we're all trying to win. So I'm not afraid to tell you that I'm doing the same. How do you view being a competitor as a songwriter and a performer in the same way that these guys are competitors as athletes? Do you think it's that same competitive edge? Yeah, totally. I told people this before when I used to open shows before I became a headliner. I was opening for everybody from Kenny Chesby, you name it, Keith Urban, and everyone. I never went out there thinking like, I'm going to try to just get people to enjoy the show.

[00:19:15]

I went out there every night to go and I want them to like me better than Kenny Chesby. And again, it wasn't being negative, but I just was always trying to show someone up. I think that's part of being competitive. That's cool. That's like the Michael Jordan. There's always going to be somebody here who's the first time seeing Michael Jordan. He always knew he wanted to put on a show because he was like, Somebody in this building has never seen me, and they're going to know I'm the greatest to ever do it.

[00:19:37]

Don't let me tard.

[00:19:39]

Were you guys building out the A-rod bathroom of your imaginations? Is that what I heard you discussing during.

[00:19:44]

The break? Towels with an A on them.

[00:19:46]

You know the thing you slide the toilet paper on? That's a baseball bat.

[00:19:51]

Hey.

[00:19:52]

I like that. Stugats. Do you think he actually calls it the throne? Probably does.

[00:19:58]

It's an.

[00:19:58]

Actual throne.

[00:19:59]

An actual throne? There's got to be a full-length mirror in there somewhere.

[00:20:02]

I imagine somewhere in his house, he has a replica of David, but with his head on it.

[00:20:08]

This.

[00:20:09]

Is The Dan Levator Show with.

[00:20:11]

The.

[00:20:11]

Stugats. How football analyst.

[00:20:22]

David Pollack.

[00:20:23]

Stays prepared.

[00:20:24]

How do you keep up with all of the games when you're traveling on Saturdays? When you're, you know, prepping for the studio show, all of these things that you're doing during the week, how are you able to keep up with everything, make sure that you know what you're talking about on Saturday morning?

[00:20:37]

It's like you just did with Stugats. You just had blinders on and completely ignored him.

[00:20:42]

That was.

[00:20:42]

Awesome, by.

[00:20:43]

The way. It's the same thing. You've got to just be dialed in. The weekends in college football season, I feel like a horrible dad and a horrible parent sometimes, but I'm like, I got to be dialed in. I got to watch games. I got to make sure I know what's going on. And then during the season or during the weekdays, you got to watch a lot of tape. We're very fortunate we have access to an Apple. We have every single game in college football, and we get to watch it from the coaches copy and study and agree or watch it and study and do our tapes. But thank you very much for the compliment. Nice focus there, by the way, to keep plugging through and not let him.

[00:21:21]

Derail you on that. That was beautiful. That's being awfully critical of yourself. Bad dad, bad husband. I mean, come on, you're working. Chalk it up to work. It think you might have.

[00:21:30]

To do that one instead. Let me tell you something, bro. I hear you with that. But when you're sitting there, and especially when you have young kids and your wife's doing everything, that ain't good, bro.

[00:21:41]

I know it. I've been there.

[00:21:44]

Oh, yeah. You didn't have an excuse to God's.

[00:21:46]

No, I was just here. Go ahead, Edra.

[00:21:52]

David, you said that.

[00:21:54]

Colorado made the right.

[00:21:55]

Choice with Dion.

[00:21:56]

You said you don't know if Dion made the right choice.

[00:21:58]

Give.

[00:21:59]

Me a little bit more explanation around that.

[00:22:01]

Well, I just think Colorado needs Prime, needs something fun, needs something exciting, needs a reason. Listen, if you don't think Game Day is going to be playing Prime quotes, you're out your mind. It's going to bring a lot of sizzle. It's going to be sexy at Colorado for the first time in football in a long, long time. I think that he'll bring eyeballs. Do you really think that Colorado is a job where you can go win and win big? I think it's a tough job. Yeah, he's going to work the transfer portal and he's going to bring in guys, but it's not an easy place to win. Like, Dion at Auburn, if that was a chance, good Lord, Deion can go kill it. He can go win and win big. I don't know how big you're going to be able to win at Colorado.

[00:22:45]

Yeah.

[00:22:45]

I agree. I don't know if I made the.

[00:22:47]

Right decision there.

[00:22:48]

Time would tell.

[00:22:49]

David, how much are you going to miss Filica?

[00:22:53]

Oh, man, it's crazy. Ever since I've been on the show, there's always been The Bear. Before he was The Bear, Filica was unreal, and he brought me in and helped me look at things different ways. He's got that massive, huge, roll decks of sports information. I've never seen anything like it. You literally could walk up to the bear and go, Bear. 2007 National Championship, who won? He would know the answer like that. He would tell you the players like, He's an amazing resource for us. He's been an amazing friend to me, helped me along the way, everything I need. We'll definitely miss the big fella. His presence every week, his he's fun. He's cantankerous, which makes him fun. You get to pick on him, which makes it fun. Like, all of it will miss. It's like losing a teammate from the locker room.

[00:23:38]

He's great. If you need a replacement on that show, I'm putting it out there, okay? I'm available, okay? I'm just because I feel like you probably do, and I'm there for you. That's all I'm trying to tell you.

[00:23:50]

So am I. Hey, out of all the people that we could find to replace Bear, you would be one of them.

[00:23:55]

Thank you. Oh, wow. Look at that. It feels like a back-handed compliment, but I'll take it.

[00:24:03]

I don't think.

[00:24:04]

That was a compliment at all. I think you.

[00:24:05]

Just said you are a person. I felt like you want to be. David, we appreciate it again. We appreciate the time, my friend. Don't beat yourself up. You're a great dad and a great husband.

[00:24:14]

No problem. Thank you all guys very much. Have a good one. All right, man.

[00:24:18]

Thank.

[00:24:19]

You. Thank you, Dave.

[00:24:21]

Offroody, tailgates with Tennessee and Florida fans. Can you say anything nice about Florida? Yeah, I like to stay, but I don't want to be this way because I'm.

[00:24:29]

A bet with Tennessee each.

[00:24:31]

And.

[00:24:31]

Every day.

[00:24:32]

Wow, that was good.

[00:24:35]

And you can't say.

[00:24:36]

10 without the EN. Hey, everyone, it's Lucy. I'm in the swamp right now. They call it the swamp because it's swampy as hell. Itell you, I'm all terrible, but I had a really good time. I went to a frat party. I went to a grape. It was an okay football game. I saw a lot of cool traditions. Now I would really like to go to a football game, a college football game that's not in the state of Florida, please. What the fuck is a volunteer? Someone tell me what a volunteer is. Didn't it smell bad, maybe? I'm not quite sure what a volunteer is. We have a long day of tailgating. Can you just take me through the fit right now? All right, listen, we're from Tennessee.

[00:25:10]

And so Tennessee does.

[00:25:11]

These stupid bibs, and so I.

[00:25:13]

Thought.

[00:25:13]

Might as well do the Gatorbibbs. I've won these every single time we've won. Literally, if I don't wear these, we lose. I didn't wear these for the South Carolina game. That's why we lost. I'm not an F. S. U. Fan at all, but I have to almost say the worst fan base might be UCF. I was ready for that one. What is the feeling you get in your stomach when you hear Rocky Top? I severely want to throw up. I know those parts. Did you watch the Swamp Kings documentary? Absolutely. What did you think of it? Awesome. Go Gators. I wanted to see all the killing, murdering. I was sick for so long. They left out too much. They got to put more in. They got to run it back. Who would you guys say is the most overrated team in college football this year? Honestly, Penn State. Penn State didn't approve anything.

[00:25:59]

Neurdoms.

[00:26:00]

For bumps. Sorry, Jess. Wow. Maybe Miami? Yeah. We're going to say Miami. You watched the Dan Levitard show with Stu Gots. No. God damn, you just watched it. Yeah, of course. Es-wan, right? Not anymore. Not anymore, but yeah. Absolutely, every week I love Dan Levitard. Dan Levitard and Shugots? -sure, Stu Gots. -okay. We love you, Shue. That's close. She's the Iowa fan, yeah. I hate that reputation, the Iowa fan. That's rough. Do you guys think nick Saban is washed?

[00:26:37]

Washed? No, everybody.

[00:26:38]

Should live in Texas.

[00:26:39]

Yes. Is he cooked? Is he done? Oh, yeah. Did you not see all the cigars after our game? After we won? After we smoked their ass? Check the Iowa score though. I was like, yeah, need some alcohol here. And look what I found, Miller of Light. Did you know it's only 96 calories? They want us to take the mic. This is Gator fan here. I didn't want her to take the mic. My dad's ex-girlfriend is a Tennessee fan. Do you guys know her?

[00:27:06]

Yeah, she's my ex-wife step-mom.

[00:27:10]

They used to call her Three-D. There you go. When we were hanging out, Sissy. Who's your favorite person on the show? You. That's the right answer. Dan. I like Dan.

[00:27:20]

My name is Dan, so I've got to.

[00:27:22]

Go to Dan. You're the best star.

[00:27:24]

On the show. Yes.

[00:27:25]

Dan, 100 %. Why would you not say Dan? I don't know, because I'm on the... I'm on the show. And-stu Gots. Well, stew just got sit by the balls because that's a great name. -dan. -wrong answer. Me. Now, what are your dreams and aspirations? I really want Dan to like this video. You better go ahead and like that video, and we should also work on your dependency. It sounds like, Dan, she's dependent on you. We're saying how much we love Lucy. We love Lucy. Who is Dan? Great question. I was just saying that I don't think I like his last name. Dan Leptard. I wouldn't choose it. I wouldn't choose it. Look, Dan, if you're out there, that's what's been given to you, and that's okay.

[00:28:08]

Tony Romo needs to work harder.

[00:28:11]

The football story that got my attention this weekend was the intervention being reported at CBS, where multiple executives have had to fly to the house of Tony Romo. To I read, work harder. It seems like Romo is caddy-shacking his way through this gig.

[00:28:38]

What's.

[00:28:39]

Wrong with that? I mean, he's a quarterback. It's a side gig. He was great at it at the beginning, and now they're asking him to work, it seems like. He's like, Yeah. It was described as an intervention, and Romo wants to golf. These jobs have gotten so fat and lucrative that the quarterback for the Cowboys can co-get it and not do it particularly hard. Hey, I got applause for a couple of years, but I thought he was doing fine. When did Roman deteriorate? Why is there an intervention? Is CBS protecting his product? Is Nancy complaining? What's happening here? Does it what?

[00:29:15]

He's locked in for 17 million per season. For how many years? I think four more.

[00:29:20]

Why is it being this? It might be more than that.

[00:29:22]

No, I think it was a 10-year deal. They are married to him for a long time.

[00:29:25]

It's more than that, Stuart. So explain to me why there's an intervention going on around Tony Romo. It has to be that he's not working hard enough, correct?

[00:29:34]

But I thought- That's what the report was. They weren't fans of his prep or lack thereof. They didn't think that he was taking it seriously.

[00:29:40]

Have you noticed it on.

[00:29:41]

The broadcast? I'm like Jess in that I only notice commentators, really, when there's a standalone playoff game. I didn't think Tony Robo was bad the last game that I saw him. But like I said, I'm not watching the main game. I just recently found out Greg Olson is very good because I had the opportunity to watch Greg Olson do a standalone game with no other games going up against it.

[00:30:03]

But also when that was happening, if you're watching football or sports the way a lot of people are in multiple devices, you're seeing a great deal of praise for Greg Olson. Unusual. You've heard Jimmy Kimmel make fun of the fact that football broadcasting decisions were being made because somebody was reacting to what Rudy Martsky was writing in USA Today. Some media critic. What a name. One person before social media was dictating. There was criticism and executives. Nobody was born dreaming of being a television executive. Like, television executives don't actually have anything figured out. They like to pretend they do. But they're moved by, Oh, social media is blowing this way. And Greg Olson was getting a great deal of praise, which I'm not used to. And it was Tony Romo's praise because Tony Romo got it before Greg Olson did. But I didn't see Tony Romo criticism. Where was the Tony Romo criticism that they were reacting to? Because they were very much reacting to some things being said in some circles in social media.

[00:31:08]

He signed in 2020, it could be a five-year deal. It could go as long as 10. It's $17 million per. I'm certain CBS is just saying to themselves, Hey, we're paying you $17 million per season to call a football game a week. Can you take it seriously? But they're armed with more information than we are, whether it's coming from the staff, whether it's coming from Jim Nans, as to just how much work he's putting into this thing. I could tell you as someone who likes Tony Romo, that I haven't noticed much of a difference. He gives me what I want. I have it. He'll occasionally tell me a play. He'll get excited at the right times. I mean.

[00:31:47]

That's- I.

[00:31:48]

Don't know, Jim.

[00:31:48]

Right. He does that. He seems to know that's his signature thing now. I think he's leaning on that a little bit more. But the first time that I had ever considered that the Tony Robo thing wasn't this spectacular success was when his friend, Dick Eversaw, came out with a criticism that he immediately walked back. And all this stuff that's being.

[00:32:07]

Reported on- That's where it started.

[00:32:09]

But all that stuff that's being reported right now seems very… It's actually dirty when you look at it because it seems like a lot of dirty laundry is being aired. A lot of inside people that know about Tony Romo's process are the ones doing the complaining. For me, as someone that experiences them occasionally on a standalone game, I haven't noticed.

[00:32:29]

If I were Tony Romo, I'd be like, Guys, you got me at a bargain. You see what braided is making? Get what you're getting. You don't get upset. This is what you're getting. You want me to work harder? Pay me double because that's what braided is getting, and I don't work twice as hard. This is the new price. Until then, you're going to get half the effort.

[00:32:44]

It would be great if not being afraid of coaching or repercussions. What? It's a couple of guys in suits coming to my house. I got a deal. I got a deal for.

[00:32:54]

Five months. I get care, the intervention. Okay, I'm good. I get it. I got it, right? Then go hit.

[00:33:00]

The course. They have so much control of Tony Romo that they flew to him. Right.

[00:33:04]

Yeah, we did send him the message of working harder. We'll come to you.

[00:33:08]

It's so true what Billy is saying. These are, no matter how powerful they are as TV executives, there are a couple of guys flying into Dallas to meet the former quarterback of the Cowboy. Yeah, come on in, guys. You guys are paying me $17 million a year.

[00:33:24]

I already made 130. Come on.

[00:33:25]

Come on in. I got to get to the golf course in 45 minutes. What do you need? We'd like you to work harder. Yeah, not so interested in that.

[00:33:33]

I.

[00:33:33]

Don't know, John.

[00:33:36]

How about I just keep being Tony Romo? That should be enough, right? You're paying me $17 million because I'm Tony Romo, former Cowboys quarterback. What are you going to do about it? I'll just hang out with Jim and I will slowly deteriorate on air, not caring at all. It's $17 million a year because what do I have to care about? This is a sidekick. Look how much you're paying me. More than I ever made in my playing career. I fractured my back. I was the quarterback of the Cowboys.

[00:34:02]

I think he's doing fine. I haven't listened and been like, This guy's terrible. They need to replace him.

[00:34:07]

He's fine. I think, Dan, that CBS is reacting to the same pressures that you said, Jimmy Kimble, made fun of for a while. There is in the sports media reportage sphere a lot of criticism of Tony Romo. A lot of people, critics are saying it's not as good as it used to be. I honestly think it's reacting to the New York Post sports media column. I still think it's the same thing as 20 years ago. I still think that media networks are a bit sensitive to that.

[00:34:36]

And they're reacting to it. But it's Greg Olson getting credit, right? That has to factor in. This reported- How it's worth is getting a lot of credit is being graded this. That has to factor.

[00:34:46]

In, right? This reported intervention happened last summer before Greg Olson took over as the number one and got all this praise. Okay. And also they could, as Mike said, have made an internal evaluation and gone, Well, this isn't what it used to be. I don't know. But I do think that it's a lot of the similar, you draft on buzz when it's good, and they seem to overly sink into the criticism as well.

[00:35:12]

So hire Greg Olson and demote him to number two and pay him $17 million a year to be your number two. They're not going to do it. So what are they going to do about it?

[00:35:22]

This goes actually against some reporting that I did on Tony Romo a few weeks back. I was actually told by somebody that when the Dolphins and Bills played during the playoff.

[00:35:32]

Is this reckless speculation? No. Are you.

[00:35:33]

Reporting this? This is legit. I don't really know how reporting works, but I.

[00:35:37]

Think-okay, well, let's see what inside you are. Well, who.

[00:35:40]

Told you? Wait a minute. That's right. I think what I've learned, I shouldn't say that part. Okay, well, that's the only part that I don't know.

[00:35:46]

Tell us who told you, and then we'll say if it's reporting or if it's like, if you talk to someone in the parking lot at Buffalo that was covered in ketchup and not reporting.

[00:35:53]

No, it's a legit source. I think I know.

[00:35:56]

How sources work. I don't think you do.

[00:35:57]

Write it down on a piece of paper and we'll pass it around and tell.

[00:36:01]

You if it's legit. No, Billy, please.

[00:36:03]

I'm trying to help him. You're not trying to help, Billy. He says he doesn't know how this.

[00:36:06]

Works, so I'm trying to help him. You're actively not.

[00:36:09]

Trying to- My barber thinks I'm a cop.

[00:36:11]

-you're trying to get him into trouble. He might be on the precipice of both breaking news and trying to be an insider. But we have to do this correctly. Chris Cody, do you get the reckless speculation sounder? Are you reporting this as a credible news source? This is you being a reporter for the first time. All right.

[00:36:29]

But you reported this a couple weeks ago. I have not reported this before, but it applies to this conversation, something that I just know.

[00:36:37]

We will get to the news. Well, this is what's happening, okay? Because Billy is number five insider international, dukey bombs. He's getting a lot of credit as a national football source. He's trying to undermine you here as you try to infringe on his space with insider information. He has never broken a story around here.

[00:36:58]

I mean.

[00:36:58]

That's not true. You might be number one. You might be number one as an insider internationally, according to The Guardian, if you had broken a football story. But, Chris Cody, you're telling us you have a source and you believe this to be a credible source.

[00:37:11]

You should double source things in journalism. That's true. We'll get to What.

[00:37:15]

If your source is really good? What if you have one source, but it's a.

[00:37:18]

Really good source. That's what I'm saying, who is it? And then we can-.

[00:37:20]

Billy broke the-.

[00:37:21]

You're trying to.

[00:37:22]

Trick me. Billy, you broke the what's in table suitcase stories, so you got to-.

[00:37:25]

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that one. Yeah, exactly. Sometimes you just forget your accomplishments.

[00:37:29]

Jay Glaser double and triple checks his sources. You don't have a second source. You just have one you really believe in. And you're.

[00:37:37]

Reporting what? I asked him twice, though.

[00:37:38]

Like.

[00:37:38]

Santa.

[00:37:39]

So it's a good job. Okay, you shouldn't reveal. No, don't do that. Okay, you got to protect your source. You got to be willing to go to jail to protect your sources. Ask the source.

[00:37:47]

Don't go to jail.

[00:37:48]

Over this.

[00:37:49]

That's stupid. Well, why are you asking him to reveal his sources publicly? Can I just say it? Yes. Okay.

[00:37:53]

The Dolphins and the Bills, when they played in the playoffs, that was the first time Romo and Nancy had gotten the Dolphins all year. The Dolphins had to wrap Romo up in the pre-interviews because he was just talking to them so much. That goes against him being lazy. He was doing extra work and needed to be like, Hey, we got to get a lot of guys through here. We need to tighten these up a little bit. I don't know. That doesn't seem like a guy that's cutting corners.

[00:38:19]

That's right. Because he knows he's got a standalone game now. He's got to.

[00:38:23]

Prepare for that one. It's because he hadn't covered the Dolphins all year, so he was trying, I need to learn a lot about them. That just... That's just one fact that goes against him mailing it in. That one.

[00:38:33]

Could also be just chatty, though. That's true. It could just be somebody who likes talking to.

[00:38:38]

Football players. We've seen him at Tahoe. He is not chatty at all. I mean.

[00:38:42]

Let's say. Wow, are you reporting that?

[00:38:43]

I'm reporting what I've seen, and what I've seen is him talk to nobody.

[00:38:47]

He puts on a vibe.

[00:38:48]

Yeah.

[00:38:50]

Really? You guys think that he's not this affable person?

[00:38:54]

They're more.

[00:38:54]

Affable, folks. Are you guys both... Wait a minute. A third report. I got to.

[00:38:58]

Be honest.

[00:38:59]

We've all seen this. We bothYou saw how friendly we were with Justin Timberlake.

[00:39:02]

Right. J. J. T.

[00:39:04]

Billy, the report, truth be told, the Chris Cody report, very disappointing. I like better than the Stugats- Did I just report something? The Stugats and Mike Ryan report of Tony Romo is a standoffish?

[00:39:16]

There are people that like to socialize, and he's got a vibe. He's very into those bosses.

[00:39:21]

They're putting it nicely.

[00:39:22]

Dick Abrasal.

[00:39:24]

Are you willing to report that Tony Romo is an asshole?

[00:39:28]

Are you willing to go? No. He takes it very, very seriously. I don't know, Tony, well enough to call him an asshole.

[00:39:35]

Guys, we're going to Tahoe, too. No one said that. Dan, stop putting people in that spot. No, it's just-.

[00:39:41]

He.

[00:39:41]

Takes it seriously.

[00:39:42]

He isolates himself.

[00:39:43]

Yeah, he isolates himself. It's like.

[00:39:46]

A- Gameface.

[00:39:47]

Yeah, he's got his gameface on. He takes it. He's more intense about it. It's more of a business trip for him when he's not one of the guys.

[00:39:54]

He's one of the five guys who knows he has a chance to win that thing every single year, and he takes it very, very seriously. I mean, Mark Mulder is the same way.

[00:40:02]

Well, there's also levels to the celebrity there, like the Steph Curry's, the Ray Romano, these people get bombarded by people. Or there's the guy from the office. Some people are just happy to talk to you, whereas some guys are A-Listers.

[00:40:15]

But Steph and my homes and Kelsey and Justin Timberlake, they're super affable. They know they're very happy to take part in. And these two guys, myself, we belong. We're there and we're rubbing shoulders and stuff. And Tony Robob just does his own thing.
