Draftkings Network.

[00:00:10]

Welcome to The Big Suie, presented by DraftKings.

[00:00:17]

Why are you listening to this show?

[00:00:19]

It's a podcast that seems very similar to the other Dan Levitard podcast. I'm sorry. I'm not going to apologize for that. In fact, the only difference seems to.

[00:00:26]

Be this imaging. I have been tempted in restaurants walking past tables to grab somebody's fries if they're just there. That hasn't happened to you guys?

[00:00:35]

I've done it. And now here's The marching Man to Nowhere, Fatface, and The Habitual Lier.

[00:00:42]

Mike was lamenting the lack of upsets in college football, and there may not have been a giant top five upset this weekend, but Jordan Travis's injury makes it so that F. S. U. Season is over.

[00:00:59]

I can't unsee the injury. Unfortunately, I was watching it when the Gandhi and Biger went to the highlight. They had no idea the highlight was going to end that way to see an entire bottom half of the leg sticking out in a different direction. I told my wife and I told my two daughters who were home for break. I said, Don't seek out the video. Two of them listen to me. The one that did it, Rachel, regrets ever seeing that video. It was horrific.

[00:01:28]

The hip drop tackle got Jordan Travis, who's been there for, what, five years, and it does ruin a special season. The quarterback that they have there, you can't have the same faith in him. He's been on the roster for a long time. They have a pretty good idea of what he is. That was a bummer to see.

[00:01:46]

I do wonder if the committee will factor that into the equation. They're not supposed to. They say that they don't usually do that. But don't you have to factor that into the equation? Their starting quarterback and best player or one of their best players is not going to be there.

[00:02:01]

For the playoff. The reason you can is because Ohio State won the championship with its third-string quarterback. Right. Fair point. If they go undefeated.

[00:02:10]

And- You have to reward that season, right, Dan?

[00:02:12]

You have to. But I don't think they can go undefeated, though. I don't think they-.

[00:02:16]

They have Florida left who's also got a backup quarterback in that game.

[00:02:20]

That's not Florida.

[00:02:21]

By the way. Then they have... Louisville has to beat Kentucky in a rivalry game. That's not going to be easy. But let's just say both favorites go on to advance to the ACC Championship game, that's a top seven Louisville team at that point. If FSU has a win over a top seven team, you have to reward their season. An undefeated ACC team with big time wins over LSU, who the committee has shown you despite their win loss record really rates, and a Louisville team that, in retrospect, what a weird loss to pit, that team deserves to be in there. You can't just penalize them because they have an injured quarterback.

[00:02:54]

Getting back to the hip drop tackles, we've seen throughout this NFL weekend, them claim Jordan, Travis, and College, Mark, Andrews, and Pros on Thursday nights. This tackle is a big impediment to the game because when you're running and your momentum is taking you one place, and then you've got a guy who's 250, 270 pounds stopping your momentum and then dropping you down. All that's down there is your legs. You're going to get so many more things poking out of place with those tackles.

[00:03:22]

It's terrible. It's the same exact thing that they were trying to eradicate with the horse collar.

[00:03:25]

The hip drop is worse than the horse collar.

[00:03:27]

But it's like at some point you're leaving the defense no options. Obviously, it's a gross tackle. I'm not in favor of the hip tackle, but you've taken so many things away from defense. Where can they hit them? I get it from the front, you could just tackle and wrap up. But when you're chasing someone down, how do you tackle them if you can't? That's just how you do it.

[00:03:45]

Wrap them up but not drop your hip. You can wrap somebody up.

[00:03:48]

I think it's a much easier said than that.

[00:03:50]

Sure, but when you look at it, it looks like a malicious tackle. I'm not here to tell you I'm the U-of-C guy. I like violence. But I'm here to tell you, when you swing your body weight around and you know what's down there is an ankle and a knee? That is a terrible tackle.

[00:04:03]

The conundrum is you're trying to make a violent game safe. It's not possible. It's not possible. The conundrum is these players are all getting bigger, stronger, faster, scientifically, medically, and the game already wasn't safe, and no amount of rule changes is going to make it safe.

[00:04:24]

But Dan, is it fair to say that they're not trying to make the game safe? They're trying to make it safer. We have seen quantifiable numbers throughout all levels of football, and by trying to make the game a little bit safer, some major head injuries are going down. Certainly with horsecollars, you don't have the example of someone's season being ended by a horsecollar tackle because they've legislated that with the rules.

[00:04:44]

Seems like a losing battle. What if you try to make the game more dangerous? Because going safer, you're never going to win, right? You just have everyone admit, Hey, this is never going to really be that safe. There's always going to be crazy injuries. Let's just stop this charade.

[00:05:00]

Wasn't that the XFL's.

[00:05:01]

First angle? Let's make it more dangerous. But guys, just so you're aware, we're making it more dangerous. We can't say we don't know what we signed up for. You know what you're signing up for. More dangerous. Then once everybody knows and everyone's on the same page, this is going.

[00:05:17]

To be more dangerous. You raised the bar.

[00:05:19]

Of danger. Well, and you can't feel gross watching it because you can't say they didn't know. They knew. We're seeing it right now. The most dangerous.

[00:05:25]

If you hype up how dangerous it is, it'll seem less dangerous. -exactly.

[00:05:29]

-no matter what happens. -it'll be a letdown. If anything, it may be safer.

[00:05:32]

What would you do to make it more dangerous?

[00:05:34]

What would I do?

[00:05:35]

Yeah, because you're the one bringing the idea to Roger Goodell. -hey, let's make it more dangerous.

[00:05:38]

-well, I'm not the commissioner of this.

[00:05:40]

Less pads. -they just spitballing. -well, they don't actually helped the game, by the way.

[00:05:43]

-just spitballing. I saw Sam Howe run to the locker room at half time with a cleaver embedded in his forehead. He was wobbly.

[00:05:52]

And-poor kid.

[00:05:52]

I missed that one.

[00:05:54]

Well, Tony saw it also. Right through the face mask. Will Levis has played three games and he's already limping. He's already limping all over the place.

[00:06:03]

I'm just going to push back a little bit on your Dan Marino.

[00:06:06]

You got to squint, though. That's the thing. If your eyes are open.

[00:06:08]

Yeah, it's a little bit squint. I'm not ready to crown him next Dan Marino after seeing him a little bit more. Just squint.

[00:06:14]

Mike Ryan mentioned the University of Florida's backup quarterback situation, Stugat, and I've never seen what happened before to injure Florida's quarterback. This is the story, okay? They are playing a fun game against Missouri, and Graham Merz has a third and four, and he's running around the left side, and there are two corners there to meet him. They both collide with him before the line to gain and both of them get injured as Merts heroically breaks through both of them, runs another 10 yards, and then makes a vigorous first-down signal because he's fired up, because he, in his wake, or literally a quarterback is not going to feel better than that. He put down his shoulder and injured two dudes. They didn't collide into each other. They hit both of his shoulders and they collided on the floor and they were on the ground, writhing. Merts is in front of everybody being like, First down, I'm so strong. Then he goes back to the huddle and he hands the ball off, and clearly his clavicle collapses. He's in so much pain that he tries to run to the sideline, but he collapses before he gets to the sideline.

[00:07:29]

Like he's just trying to get off the field. And whatever he felt that felt so good, a play of go, his clavicle dissolved on a handoff.

[00:07:42]

Do you think the pointing, the vigorous pointing of the first down had anything to do.

[00:07:46]

With it? It may have. That's a worry.

[00:07:47]

For all this travel. It may have. But I understand being so hopped up on this game is so dangerous. Did you see what I just did on that imaginary line marker that they can only see on television that I can't actually see. I was short of the first down and I ran through two corners. Both of them are in my wake, broke it.

[00:08:08]

It's a special adrenaline. That's like USC adrenaline, where you watch John Jones dominate a fight and then the camera pans down to his foot and it's in three pieces.

[00:08:16]

His toe is the other way.

[00:08:18]

I'm like, That guy threw a lot of kicks after that injury.

[00:08:23]

I know that many of you, when I'm always talking about the injuries, I think we should start a new segment on Mondays, where time for Dan gets uncomfortable, but is tidulated with all of the violence. What Billy is saying, it is so dangerous and so.

[00:08:41]

Nuts out there. Well, Billy wants to make it more violent.

[00:08:43]

I know. I just want us to have an honest conversation and not pretend like this whole charade like we're trying to make it safer. Let's just all admit what we're watching here.

[00:08:50]

It's not safe.

[00:08:51]

And admit that everybody knows what they've signed up for, and then we can move on.

[00:08:54]

There were some hits in that Dolphins game early on.

[00:08:56]

Did Jet really have a bone coming out of his glove? I thought I saw that yesterday, where a Jet player had a bone coming out of his hand through his glove.

[00:09:06]

Don't you think you'd remember.

[00:09:07]

Seeing that? I remember seeing it, but I don't know what's real and.

[00:09:09]

What's not on the internet. You can see Sam Howe with the cleaver and his forehead?

[00:09:12]

I'm looking this up.

[00:09:13]

Earlier.

[00:09:13]

This season- Tony Adams, their safety, and it's gross.

[00:09:16]

Mike Tarico just volunteered that Justin Herbert was looking down at his bone one game, which came out. -which came out. -jesus. -chris just-Time.

[00:09:25]

And place. Chris just confirmed that someone had a bone poking through their glove. Showed Tony goes, Let me see. And he goes, Oh, yeah. And then we just kept moving on. That's right.

[00:09:34]

You, who is a football host, number one, number four insider internationally, the dookie on God-blessed football. No! You said moments ago-That happens. I think I saw someone's bone hanging out of their skin and gloves.

[00:09:52]

But I missed the cleaver, so I wasn't sure. That's amazing.

[00:09:55]

Most of the time, you'd think he'd be, This guy's just as calm as a cucumber.

[00:09:59]

Yeah, it's good.

[00:10:00]

So was Jordan Travis, and he picked up his leg and we were like, Oh, God! He was just sitting there.

[00:10:05]

Like, Guys, look at my leg. Didn't hit him right away. He had to see it before he felt it. It was weird. It was pointing in the wrong direction.

[00:10:11]

How much pain does Bosa have to be in to be sobbing into a towel on the cart on the sidelines when he's already playing with a broken toe and they just say, foot injury.

[00:10:21]

I think it's just emotional knowing who has had coaches at.

[00:10:24]

That point. Right. I know, Ms. Football.

[00:10:27]

Why is this franchise always like this?

[00:10:29]

They stink, man. That coach is awful. That coach has to get fired. Does he not? You can, after the game, blame your best player, Austin Echler, who will join us tomorrow at Godbless Football for a fumble saying he cost you the game.

[00:10:44]

He's not there, best player. He is.

[00:10:46]

Not their best player. Dan, he's one of their best players. But you cannot come out after the game after you go for it repeatedly on fourth down and put your team and your defense in compromising positions. You cannot come out and blame it on one of your best players, the guy who has scored more touchdowns for you than any other player since you've been the head coach there. You can't blame it on him because after he fumbles the ball, they still have the lead. Blame your defense if you're going to blame someone. But how about you don't blame anyone and blame yourself? How does.

[00:11:13]

That sound? There's a debate going on back here, Dan. Hot debate.

[00:11:17]

I'm saying that Echler is their best player, and these guys are like, It's clearly Herbert. I argue that Echler is better. It might be that they have a good safety, Darwin James. I don't think Herbert...

[00:11:27]

I mean, Kenan Allen is exceptional.

[00:11:28]

As well. But to just dismiss it, where do you have Herbert ranked among all the quarterbacks? I'm going to have my.

[00:11:35]

Quarter back ranked top.

[00:11:36]

Five charts. This is good. In Chris' defense, if you start ranking quarterbacks in the NFL and you start ranking running backs, a few of us are going to have Eccler.

[00:11:47]

Ranked higher. The running back is totally disposable and the quarter back is not.

[00:11:51]

It's just debatable is my point.

[00:11:53]

It's just not their best player. It's okay.

[00:11:56]

Who is? I get the argument. They're the best player.

[00:11:58]

Who's on Godless Football? I just.

[00:12:00]

Gave you… It.

[00:12:01]

Might be Bosa. Herbert, Tennan, Hallen, and Bosa, and those three are at least all those three. It's okay.

[00:12:08]

Herbert is not good.

[00:12:09]

But Echler is the best one that we have on Godless Football. He climbs up the rankings because Stugatsh talks to him.

[00:12:16]

Every day. That's not what's happening here.

[00:12:17]

I mean, the last two years, he had 29 touchdowns.

[00:12:20]

Are you saying Stugat's has given a favorable take because he has a then Echler on God bless football? No, it's not happening.

[00:12:27]

Stugat's.

[00:12:27]

During the break- That calls him like.

[00:12:29]

He sees him. -was working on... On the break, he was working on how he would do a made-up sideline report. He was just saying, Guys, I just heard down here on the sideline that McKinnon is tired of this Kelsey Swift stuff. Back to you.

[00:12:45]

Jeric.

[00:12:45]

Mckinnon. By the way, that debate that we just had of who the charger's best player is and so many people being available is exactly why Brandon Staley should be fired.

[00:12:53]

We will play some funny sound from him getting agitated, which is, for now, the highlight of his entire Charger's reign.

[00:13:04]

Don Levitard. David Samson, weirdo. Because he was not the fun substitute teacher who'd wheel out a TV and play a VHS tape or Armageddon in science class. He was the weird one who would eat an egg salad sandwich while flipping his toenails into the trash can and rambling about Ronald Reagan. Stoogots. The guy kept talking about how his ass was smooth, smoother than a newborn's cheek. He wouldn't stop bragging about his bare buttocks to me.

[00:13:33]

This is the Dan Levator Show with the Stugarts.

[00:13:40]

I have been in contact, Stugats, with Tim Legler, wanting the last couple of years to send a correspondent to his new Florida Halloween, but he has not done it the last couple of years, so we are hoping to do that next year.

[00:13:54]

People have gotten mad at us, but we can't force ourselves on his house. He says no. It's his house, right? Politely.

[00:14:00]

But.

[00:14:01]

He has things that have gone on in his life events, and hasn't done it. We've tried and just says.

[00:14:06]

No very nicely. We can force our way onto and around his house if he's doing Halloween. But it'd be extra awkward if we did that and he wasn't doing the big, ornate Halloween and we were just showing up at his house.

[00:14:20]

Yeah, that's what stopped us because unless you think that Dan wouldn't force us on Tim Legler, he has attempted several times.

[00:14:26]

I sent many an awkward email to a Tim Legler who seemed very disinterested in continuing this just to let's make it happen. Then he.

[00:14:35]

Said no politely. Let's not.

[00:14:36]

I think we've made Tim Legler stop celebrating Halloween.

[00:14:40]

He may have. That might be true. He put pressure on it, sure.

[00:14:43]

He.

[00:14:43]

Moved. Was it when we sent Billy there?

[00:14:45]

He liked that. I felt like I was part of his family, even though he didn't let me in his house. He's like, You can pee outside.

[00:14:51]

We were trying to combine in Florida the trip to Legler's house and doing a live broadcast from Stan Van Gundy's Pantoon Boat. Stugat, do you know what a pantoon boat looks like?

[00:15:04]

I do. Captain Lee, by the way, said he would captain that boat if we wanted to do it. That's the guy you're supposed to call Jimmy Johnson for. Have you done it yet? I mean... I'm not.

[00:15:12]

Going to do that. It's unfortunate. Here's what a pond tune boat generally doesn't look like. Although in Florida, this is sometimes what you get when you are just looking at random rivers and canals. And here it looks like a bit of a fire truck. It's not a fire truck, right? It's just a truck that is on-.

[00:15:33]

It has Lex Ryan on there. Yeah, that's an 18-wheel. Is it.

[00:15:38]

Lex Ryan or Rob Ryan? He is running a half truck, half boat. It seemed like it had a lot of coolers as a boat like that must have a lot of places for drinks. But how do we feel? That's not doing well on the open seas, right? That is only on waters that are that placid. That boat is tipping over on its side in water that has some waves.

[00:16:04]

Pontoon, largely a freshwater boat.

[00:16:06]

Yeah, bays, lakes, stuff like that. You don't want to take a Pontoon out on the open ocean. That also seems like a thing, by the way, that you don't just see once. You can't just see that and be like, What was that? They have to know like, That's Jim. He lives down the lake over there, whatever. -oh, Jimmy. -down the canal, yeah.

[00:16:26]

He got bought out from the bills.

[00:16:27]

Kind of sticks out a little bit. I don't know about that one.

[00:16:30]

It's not a fire truck, correct? It's just a truck.

[00:16:33]

No, it's an 18-wheel. That's the front end of a semi-truck. They don't make them like that, Dan. That was a custom job. -custom building. -yeah, that's a custom pun, too. -thank you. That's a custom.

[00:16:41]

Pun to. I appreciate the clarification, Billy.

[00:16:44]

Although when someone sees that. If you can do that once, you can do that a number of times, and there's probably a market for people that like that.

[00:16:51]

First off, Cuban people have been doing that for years to get over here. You'd see a truck, you'd see anything. You could take that to Cuban back a million times.

[00:16:58]

I actually take more offense at that than I do the Italian fingers. I don't.

[00:17:02]

Believe they have modern trucks very much in Cuba. I believe it's mostly 1950s, Russian automobiles. Well, you know what I mean, Dan. I don't believe that they have... I do know what you generally mean. I feel, though, like they don't have car parts or truck parts that are modern.

[00:17:18]

Also, that is done for necessity. The ingenuity is not for pleasure. That is a pleasurecraft.

[00:17:25]

In Cuba, no, there is some desperation involved.

[00:17:28]

Sounds like an endorsement for free market capitalism.

[00:17:31]

It is not a pleasurecraft.

[00:17:32]

Do you think that that person is like a retired long hauler? They made their money going on runs, like trucking, whatever. Put their truck on a boat? No, not put their truck on a boat, but that's how they made their money. That's how they bought their house on the water. He said, You know what? Here's a little nod to the old career. I remember we took old Bessie up and down the Coast east to west 75 times.

[00:17:53]

That's not making it up and down the Coast. That is not handling anything in the way.

[00:17:58]

Of-no, that was on the road.

[00:17:59]

But he's saying the trunk.

[00:18:00]

Yeah, it's original. Originally, old Bessie was on the road, you know what I mean? Then Jimbo said, You know what? I'm going to call it a career, but don't leave old Bessie behind.

[00:18:09]

Brought Bessie on the boat. I'm seeing that this boat is owned by a trucking company, Jeff Foster Trucking.

[00:18:14]

It.

[00:18:16]

Looks- It.

[00:18:17]

Was so close when I.

[00:18:18]

Said, Jim. -like a retirement vehicle. Let's get to the testee, Brandon Staley sound here, because he is Stugat's under duress. He has aged a great deal. He used to be a boy of Wonder. He was going forward on Fort down. He was the coach who was least afraid and most aggressive. But the Chargers have beaten him down, as Chris Cody told you. Herbert has lost more games since 2020 than any quarterback in the League. And he's great. I know he's great. He is an exceptional quarterback who never rallies to win games late.

[00:18:49]

Chris said.

[00:18:49]

He's bad. I was defending you there, StuGaud, when you're turning on me. All I said was it's debatable where he ranks, where Ecler ranks amongst running backs.

[00:18:57]

Thank you.

[00:18:58]

Let's play the sound or of the sounds of testy, Brandon Staley.

[00:19:03]

I have full confidence. Like I've told you and like I've told you from the beginning, I have full confidence in our way of playing. Full confidence in myself is the play-caller and the way that we teach and the way that we scheme, full confidence in that. We got to bring this group together and do it consistently. Okay? And that's where it's at. So you can stop asking that question, okay?

[00:19:23]

I'm going to be calling the defenses, okay? So we're clear. So you don't have to ask that again.

[00:19:29]

This, of course, is from the maker of What do you think my mood is, Jeff? That is the last time we checked in with Brandon Staley. I introduced in Los Angeles, Mike, to Jeff.

[00:19:42]

Really? Yeah, I met the Jeff.

[00:19:44]

Not the Jeff in the Pontoon boat who ran the tunk. How was it?

[00:19:47]

Jeff Foster. It was thrilling. You know me, I hate Brandon Staley. So anybody that can get under his skin is a friend of mine. The enemy and my enemy is my friend.

[00:19:58]

They're afraid at this point, the reporters who cover the team to ask the questions because they're going to get this defensiveness. Let's play. Which one's better, Stugats, on the Brandon Staley defensive front? The one we just played or this one?

[00:20:10]

I'm not here to talk to the fan base. I'm here to talk to my players, the locker room. I know that we give ourselves a chance to win every single week with the game plans that we have, okay? And we have done it here. You guys act like we've never played good defense. That's not the truth. That's not the truth. You act like we haven't made any improvements. Today in the run game, we played outstanding. We're rushing the quarterback well. What we got to do a better job of is in the passing game, and that's where our full attention is, and it's where it will continue to be. There are a lot of other things that caused us to lose today. It certainly wasn't our defense. It was the way we played as a team. We didn't play well enough on the red zone on offense. We dropped too many passes. We gave up a few killer sacks. We did this as a team. Stop making it about one unit because that's not what happened out there today. Our team lost, and I am fully responsible for it, and I take full responsibility. But we lost as a team today, and that's the storyline.

[00:21:01]

The.

[00:21:02]

Second one. Full responsibility means taking full responsibility. It doesn't mean blaming the defense. It doesn't mean blaming Justin Herbert. It doesn't mean blaming Austin Echler for fumbling. It means blaming yourself. It's all on you. It's on no one else. He didn't do that. He tried to do it. He didn't do it.

[00:21:18]

Rex Ryan on get-up said, Brandon Sayles should go back to where he belongs in Division 3 football.

[00:21:23]

Oh, wow. Is that.

[00:21:24]

The type of quote?

[00:21:25]

That's not necessarily the type of quote you want to give when you need your team to fight for you and your job. You run the risk of losing the locker room and you're at a precarious situation right now in your schedule and in your season and in your tenure.

[00:21:39]

Stugat, I want to in a second because our football Mondays are so soaked in football. I want to get to everyone's 11th most interesting observation from yesterday's games. Only the top 10 are good enough to make the show. But I just want to show everyone how good the top 10 is by just pointing out what everyone's 11th best one is. But before we do that, I just want a little quiz for you, because tonight's a great one. Tonight you got Chiefs Eagles. Thursday could have been a great one with Borough, where you had Baltimore, Cincinnati. Go ahead and off the top of your head, Stugat. Give me all the games yesterday that involved two winning teams. Give me all of the football games that were played yesterday. This is the magic of the sport, okay? The magic of the sport is that the games are interesting, even though the teams aren't necessarily. So when I ask you to give me... Now, if Oakland had won... I'm sorry, if Las Vegas had won yesterday, then the Dolphins would have beaten a winning team.

[00:22:45]

Right. Well, I see what you're doing.

[00:22:48]

They would have lost the winning team, and it would have been an indictment on them. I actually foolish of them to go out and beat the team because it turned them into a.

[00:22:56]

Losing team. But that was one of the games that at least had a winning team against a 500 team. I'm asking you to give me all the games yesterday that involved two non-losing teams playing against each other before the game started. This is your slate. The whole slate.

[00:23:15]

Go ahead. It was a good slate.

[00:23:16]

It wasn't a good slate.

[00:23:18]

That's it, Steeler's Browns.

[00:23:19]

Steeler's.

[00:23:20]

Browns.

[00:23:21]

The fart game.

[00:23:22]

Amazing. The Steeler's spent that entire game on their own 25-yard run. Kenny Pickett is, when you do the advanced numbers, he's been Zach Wilson.

[00:23:33]

Worse, I think.

[00:23:34]

He's been Zach Wilson. Not worse. Nobody's been worse than Zach Wilson.

[00:23:37]

I think he threw five passes beyond the sticks an entire game.

[00:23:41]

But that was your big game yesterday. It was a lot involving winning teams. I enjoyed that game, too, even though it was a special awful because you knew both offenses had no chance to move down.

[00:23:53]

The game. I love the physicality. I think that stuff is good. I mean, it reminded me of the Raven Stealers from a couple of years ago. Those games are compelling.

[00:24:00]

I've been saying forever, I love a good defensive struggle. We don't get them much in the NFL anymore. We had one yesterday. That was a classic.

[00:24:07]

It's beautiful. I wish I could have just ridden ass over that game.

[00:24:11]

That's.

[00:24:11]

What I wanted to do. It was a.

[00:24:12]

Good game. It was dramatic.

[00:24:14]

Every single drive was important. Yes, he did. He showed me something. He did not show me anything. He showed me that he is not to Sean Watson. He wears a totally different uniform and everything.

[00:24:26]

Mike, are you enjoying the success that the Browns are having? I'm not even. You're wearing the.

[00:24:29]

Colors today. I'm not even paying attention. I'm just learning right now that they won.

[00:24:34]

Again, that was the game between the two winning teams. There are no others.

[00:24:43]

What did he show you?

[00:24:46]

Moxie. Moxie, a guy who can lead a group of men to a victory in a battle.

[00:24:50]

That's what.

[00:24:51]

He showed me. Joe Flacko.

[00:24:52]

Practice Squad. How many quarterbacks beat Mike Tomlin?

[00:24:55]

In a war of attrition, they made it happen. D. T. R. With a rookie quarterback. That I'm just learning about. I don't care really all that much.

[00:25:04]

I'm on to you.

[00:25:05]

I don't care all that much. I'm not rooting for them. Why are.

[00:25:09]

You smiling?

[00:25:10]

By week 17, he has a dog pound mask on.

[00:25:13]

No doubt. Way earlier than that. No more watching, Mike.

[00:25:16]

I don't care. I really don't.

[00:25:18]

I swear. I may have seen a text. It wasn't Mike, but Mike was in the vicinity of plucky little team they got there in seven and three, Cleveland.

[00:25:27]

A little likable team all of a sudden. I'm sure it was strange.

[00:25:31]

Mike, don't compromise your morals for this team and they don't have a quarterback. Don't publicly cave on everything you stood for last year for a team that has no quarterback and cannot make a run in the playoff.

[00:25:44]

It won't change what a good thing you did last year.

[00:25:46]

Not even consider that. It would 100 % changed. No, it wouldn't.

[00:25:48]

It would.

[00:25:48]

Be like, look. You can't.

[00:25:49]

Take a moral stand. I put them in time out. The Watson got hurt, and now.

[00:25:53]

They're good. You can't just pluck away the one major problem I had with the team and expect me in a root for them all of a sudden. I'm happening.

[00:26:02]

Don.

[00:26:02]

Libertard. You got to know.

[00:26:04]

I'm a big Colombo guy. Salute to that boy.

[00:26:07]

Okay. I don't think that's proof. I don't think that's a lie. I think that's a lie.

[00:26:13]

You said, Salute.

[00:26:14]

It think that is evidence. Salute to that boy. It suggests camouflage. It suggests that JuJu has no idea what we're talking about, and now is just Googling it. Stugaz.

[00:26:26]

I'm.

[00:26:27]

Not Googling it.

[00:26:27]

My grandmother stayed in the country.

[00:26:30]

I watched The Braves.

[00:26:31]

I watched Colombo.

[00:26:32]

I.

[00:26:32]

Watched.

[00:26:32]

Matlock. I watched Andy Griffin. You said.

[00:26:35]

That you go to the.

[00:26:36]

Pill in.

[00:26:36]

The box, Dan. You take your ass to the Pilling the Box. You tell him, JuJu. You tell.

[00:26:41]

Him.

[00:26:41]

Juju.

[00:26:42]

Back to you, Stu. This is the Dan Levitar Show with the Stugats.

[00:26:51]

I know what happens every week, Stugat, in a way that it's not even an astute observation to marvel at just how many intersections are dropped in that league. But the Jalen Ramsey play at the end of the game reminded me of how many super easy intersections I saw drop. That was not an easy one. I saw dropped yesterday. It must have been in a sport where they're valuing so much the turnover. It must have happened ten times yesterday, where I'm watching a defensive back drop a ball and I'm like, How the hell do you drop that? But that's not even my 11th most interesting observation.

[00:27:32]

From yesterday. There's a reason they're not playing wide receiver, Daniel.

[00:27:35]

I know everyone.

[00:27:36]

Says that. Someone always has to say that. I hate when people say that. I'm the guy. Does Kenan-Allen play wide receiver? Because he dropped one.

[00:27:42]

It could be the route running. You never really know what goes south for them when they're trying out at wide receiver school.

[00:27:49]

Stugatz is good for overheating an observation that someone has made for 20 years. Put it on the pole, please. Juju at Levitard show is one of Stugatz's finest traits, preheating an observation everyone else has been making for 20 years.

[00:28:04]

Set it and forget it, Dana.

[00:28:06]

Are you guys ready to give me your 11th most interesting observation from all of yesterday's football? Again, I will say it again. It involved no winning football being played. You had one game. The one game that had winning teams, two, six, and three teams are both teams that you all know are shit. Cleveland's defense is great. Between the two.

[00:28:31]

Of them- I'm not here to defend them, but they look feisty. I wouldn't want to play them in the postseason.

[00:28:37]

A Mark.

[00:28:37]

Cooper looks good. I would not want to play them in the playoffs.

[00:28:40]

I would not. I would certainly not go. Don't ask me to go. I'm not going.

[00:28:45]

Their defense is championship good. Cleveland's defense historically good.

[00:28:48]

Some people.

[00:28:49]

Are saying that. Some people are saying that.

[00:28:50]

But they are going to Joe Flacko to save them.

[00:28:53]

No, they got D-T-R. They got DTR. We have full faith in him.

[00:28:59]

Don't compromise your morals for that. If they had a quarterback, 100 % compromise your morals, but they don't have one, so we're not going to do it. They got to do it.

[00:29:05]

You're not going far. That's what we're trying to say.

[00:29:07]

Exactly.

[00:29:07]

Right. We're going to roll with the kid. Set yourself up for heartbreak.

[00:29:10]

We're rolling with the kid. Not heartbreak, public humiliation.

[00:29:12]

I'm going to investigate your social media likes.

[00:29:14]

We're rolling with the kid. Okay.

[00:29:15]

Chris, Cody, what was your 11th most interesting observation from yesterday?

[00:29:22]

Robert Sala shaving his clearly dyed beard.

[00:29:27]

Whoa. What? He tackled Zach Wilson.

[00:29:31]

They were giving him credit there for that. They were like, Look, he broke his fall.

[00:29:35]

What a head coach. The one time you want to see a hip drop tackle.

[00:29:39]

He didn't break his fall from being a starting quarterback and his career being over, though. Because that happened yesterday. I remind you, by the way, that Stugatz was arguing that Aaron Rogers should stay on the sidelines because Zach Wilson won a game.

[00:29:55]

That Aaron Rodgers.

[00:29:56]

Should- He gets.

[00:29:57]

Him there, Dano. Now he's saying he's coming back December second. For what? Why? The team's going nowhere.

[00:30:03]

Why? He's coming back in two weeks.

[00:30:05]

Well, a couple of Fortnites, I mean.

[00:30:07]

He did show them video of him practicing, and they were wowed.

[00:30:13]

At one point yesterday, and this number is larger now than it was when I heard it, but they gave the stat during that game, the jets have not scored a touchdown in 40 possessions.

[00:30:24]

I.

[00:30:24]

Saw that.

[00:30:25]

I almost.

[00:30:25]

Threw up. That was the third quarter of that game before... What? That was yours?

[00:30:30]

I stole.

[00:30:31]

His one.

[00:30:31]

Dan, the last.

[00:30:32]

Two minutes, they're over me. My 12th and 11th best thing, 12th, solid power bomb, Zach Wilson on the sidelines. I'm sorry. 11th, jets, 40.

[00:30:39]

Straight.

[00:30:40]

Tries without a touchdown. Now I.

[00:30:42]

Got to go to my 10th.

[00:30:43]

Favorite thing. No, you can't.

[00:30:44]

You got.

[00:30:45]

To go to your 13th. Chris Cody, give us your 11th.

[00:30:48]

Most-i just did. You forgot it. It was the beard.

[00:30:52]

That's right.

[00:30:53]

Clearly died. He denied it, but.

[00:30:55]

It's died. He denied it.

[00:30:57]

I did forget it. I'm sorry. It was that uninteresting.

[00:31:00]

Got us, though. It was a springboard, though, for some.

[00:31:02]

Nice jet-talk. It led to Tony's 11th.

[00:31:04]

And 12th. Yeah, now we get 13.

[00:31:06]

Billy, what is your 11th most interesting observation.

[00:31:10]

From yesterday? This was news that broke yesterday that impacts today's game. Guys, Taylor will not be able to travel to the game tonight. A Super Bowl preview slash rematch. She won't be able to go. And this is supposed to be the game where her parents meet the Kelsey parents. So it makes you wonder, do the parents still go and meet the other parents? Because if you were going to meet your significant other's parents, you'd want them to be.

[00:31:32]

There, correct? Yeah. Maybe she heard that holiday song and she's like, What's.

[00:31:35]

Going on here? I don't know about you, but when I started dating my significant other, I wanted our parents to meet in front of a national audience. That is not weird at all. That is how you first meet at Monday Night Football.

[00:31:47]

I also wondered, is Travis going to put on a show for the Swift parents tonight, or is he going to buckle under.

[00:31:53]

The pressure? Well, you took the over for Kelsey Yardage.

[00:31:56]

Didn't you? I did take the spoiler alert. I did take the over from Kelsey Yardage.

[00:31:59]

How are your big bets brought to you by going now on God.

[00:32:02]

Bless football? I had a rough week last week. I was one and two, bringing me to 15, 11, and one on the season, but still doing pretty good. Last week, Josh Allen had to come in and ruin what would have been a two and one week. Well, if they would have won, it would have been three and a no. But he had to ruin a two and one when he had a wide open receiver in the end zone. He could have just tossed it. I had over one and a half touchdown passes instead he ran it in, but it wasn't total touching. That was last week.

[00:32:23]

Well, not that I expect you to follow the rules, but your interesting observation about tonight's game in the Kelsies is an interesting observation from yesterday.

[00:32:31]

The news broke yesterday. The news on that one broke yesterday. The thing is, I have other interesting ones that I can give you, but I don't want to be accused of recycling something I said earlier. For example, here's an interesting one. What number.

[00:32:43]

Is this on.

[00:32:44]

Your list? This could be number 11, but I also used it as my gamesmanship moment of the week on GodBless Football this morning. Dan, my gamesmanship moment of the week, which is patent pending, is the first time we've done it. If it gets a sponsor, we'll continue. If not, we probably will forget about it. The Seahawks signed Brett Ripon to their practice squad the same week that the Rams cut him, gamesmanship. They lost. Didn't end up working out, Seahawks still lost. But they signed the quarterback of the other team, hoping to get some secrets, trade secrets, if you will.

[00:33:12]

Do you just give it all up if you're him?

[00:33:14]

He was. They were running up to him on the sidelines. The announcements even said, He's the most popular man on the.

[00:33:18]

Team today. Right. That's what they hired him for it.

[00:33:20]

Yes, you have to. It is one of the dumber things that I get with my football experience. Here's another one. Hey, everybody, you're not going to believe this. Frank Reik is taking over the playcalling duties. Yeah, okay, great.

[00:33:35]

They.

[00:33:35]

Scored. They did.

[00:33:36]

They.

[00:33:37]

Scored a touchdown. They scored a touchdown. It was a 17-play drive, and they went for it on fourth down.

[00:33:41]

Three times. Adam Thielen had four fourth-down conversions on that drive, and they were all five-yard out.

[00:33:46]

Didn't he recently give up the playcalling duties? He's taking them back.

[00:33:50]

Wait a minute. Desperate.

[00:33:52]

He's.

[00:33:52]

Got them back now. The laser says he's on the hot seat.

[00:33:55]

Well.

[00:33:55]

He.

[00:33:56]

Is. This ripping guy, if I ever get cut by a team and brought the team they're playing that week, I need a guarantee that I'm with you the rest of the season. If it's just this is a one week thing and I'm done, I'm giving.

[00:34:07]

You-you think you've got leverage.

[00:34:09]

In that position? I'm giving bad information. I'm like, You want this information? I need the rest of the year. Bad information for what? I'm just saying. If I think I'm just going to get cut the very next week, I'm not giving the goods.

[00:34:18]

I like the idea of being Brett Rippen and just announcing to the world like, I'm on tour. I will go to any team that's going to play against the Rams moving forward this season. Just bring me out of your team for a week. I don't care. I like the.

[00:34:30]

Where the country is. Imagine if a Dolphins player got cut because that's an offense. Teams are like, I need information on this team.

[00:34:35]

If I'm a Dolphins-I'm going to start calling him artificial intelligence.

[00:34:39]

You think Chosin Anderson, when he was cut earlier this week just to immediately be signed back onto the practice squad and elevated to the active roster. You think he should have started a bidding war to tell the trade secrets of the.

[00:34:50]

Dolphins offense? I bet the jets were like, Oh, Chosins available.

[00:34:53]

We need some info. I don't have any proof that he knows it.

[00:34:56]

That's.

[00:34:56]

Fair. That's the other problem.

[00:34:57]

So you have Arizona signing Brett Ripp in the... What's this week?

[00:35:00]

I'm just saying. If I'm Brett Rippen, I'm not giving up the goods. He's going to get a.

[00:35:04]

New alarm and bad information, but you can get a guy who's got some information.

[00:35:07]

A warm body. Oh, no, Chris is right. If you want my information, give me a full year.

[00:35:11]

Right, the rest of the season.

[00:35:12]

He's not right. You have no leverage.

[00:35:14]

You have the-I have something you want.

[00:35:15]

Well, the.

[00:35:16]

Information stays with me. I'll go get somebody else who has information.

[00:35:18]

All right, then do it.

[00:35:19]

See you. Also, the RAMs are four and six. So do you need it?

[00:35:23]

Now I'm back at home. I've made them not... Let me look up much. I bet he's fine. I bet Ripon is.

[00:35:27]

Doing fine. You just cost yourself a couple hundred thousand dollars. Yeah, to be used.

[00:35:32]

He.

[00:35:32]

Comes from money.

[00:35:34]

Put it on the pole. Is Ripon fine because he comes from money. Tony, what was the 11th most interesting observation?

[00:35:41]

I'm going to go down to my 13th. Yeah, 13th. Keep an eye on Tommy DeVito.

[00:35:45]

There's something there.

[00:35:47]

I can go down to 14 if you want. Jason Peters, 41-year-old Jason Peters, played for the Seahawks. They signed him for this year. Twenty-year NFL veteran. That's insane playing.

[00:35:58]

That position. That is.

[00:35:59]

Pretty cool. Brett Ripton has made 3.6 in his life. I'm holding strong if I'm him. You want the good stuff? Give me the.

[00:36:06]

Rest of the season. Well, they signed him to a one year contract.

[00:36:08]

I don't know how this shit works. I just assume it's like, One week, give us the info.

[00:36:11]

You're gone. But it's not the good stuff.

[00:36:13]

He didn't give him the.

[00:36:15]

Good stuff. He didn't give them nothing.

[00:36:16]

Mike, what is your 11th most interesting.

[00:36:19]

Football observation? There's been so many things to choose from. But in a game that Dan called the Game of the Week in the NFL between the Steelers and Browns, there was a funny little moment where Miles Garrett had a loose helmet in his hand. Oh, yeah. And it freaked out all the Pittsburgh Steelers. Not a lot of people talked about a trade that the Browns made in August, where they acquired Dustin Hopkins's first seventh rounder. That's really turned our season around.

[00:36:42]

Our?

[00:36:43]

What? A lot of wheeze.

[00:36:45]

Prior.

[00:36:45]

To- What's.

[00:36:46]

Going on.

[00:36:47]

Your.

[00:36:47]

Fantasy team.

[00:36:48]

I was waiting.

[00:36:49]

On that one.

[00:36:50]

I think you're hearing things.

[00:36:54]

Stugart.

[00:36:54]

What was your- Just back to back weeks. The Browns had beaten the Ravens and Stealers. If you've been a long suffering, it's not something that you've seen since they've come back, primarily because the Ravens weren't in the league before because they used to be the Browns. Art Modell moved them.

[00:37:08]

The whole thing. Stugat, your 11th most interesting observation.

[00:37:12]

The commanders are confusing. I don't understand them. They have a good team. They're playing a bad team in the New York Giants. Everyone tells me the defense is so good for a couple of years now. Sam Howell, this good quarterback. They have Eric, Benemie. They have Riverboat Ron. They're not good. They're confusing. They're a confusing football team. I think they could be good, but I have no idea if they're any good. Why did they.

[00:37:31]

Make those trades? I don't know. They were sitting in all right position to make a playoff push, and they just hunted on sweat and young. Those are guys that can help them win. It seems like the team has gone in a different direction since they made those moves.

[00:37:46]

Video, get for me, please. The last time that the Commanders lost to the giants, their defensive linemen, who is now lonely because all the others have left, sweat, got money.

[00:37:57]

And so to Chase Young, what's the.

[00:37:58]

Non-trade thing? Chase Young traded to.

[00:38:00]

Wait a second. What about me? I'm the squeaky wheel.

[00:38:02]

Here, and I'm stuck. But the last time that Washington lost to the New York giants, here is this menace of a man who looks like somebody that I would not want to be tackled by, super pissed off. What's the.

[00:38:15]

Evaluation.

[00:38:15]

Like after a loss like that?

[00:38:18]

It worked out fine.

[00:38:19]

Plain and simple. Got to be better.

[00:38:22]

Anything they did that surprised you guys.

[00:38:24]

Early on? No, I wouldn't say so. I think it's just a lack of focus on our part, a lack of attention to detail.

[00:38:28]

Not starting fast.

[00:38:30]

And creating holes that are too big for us to overcome the second half.

[00:38:33]

Does it get.

[00:38:33]

Frustrating when that's-Yes, it does. I'm tired of this. I'm tired of this. It's been seven, four years of the same shit. Tired of this shit.

[00:38:42]

What can you do now going forward to.

[00:38:43]

Get it turned around? We'd get our.

[00:38:45]

Minds right and get ready to play for Philadelphia.

[00:38:47]

I would have sprinted away after that.

[00:38:50]

Last answer. What can you do to change that? That was from a couple of weeks ago. How do you think Jonathan Allen felt after losing yesterday and going back to a locker room that had no running water?

[00:38:59]

No, it did.

[00:39:01]

It was cold.

[00:39:02]

It.

[00:39:02]

Was cold water.

[00:39:03]

Cold showers are good for you, though.

[00:39:05]

Oh, I knew you. That was the most predictable.

[00:39:07]

How does he feel walking in? We just lost to Tommy DeVito.
