Good morning, millennials.

[00:00:03]

Welcome back to the shows and Happy Tuesday. Hope everybody's having a glorious morning. A morning that is glorious. And speaking of glory, it's Jackie O.

[00:00:12]

Speaking of glory, here I am. Hey, guys. How you doing? Darn good.

[00:00:16]

Speaking of glory. Me?

[00:00:19]

Speaking of glory. It is me. Hi, everyone. Enter d. Enter D. No.

[00:00:26]

Speaking of glory, it's Gloria.

[00:00:29]

It's Gloria calling.

[00:00:31]

Gloria. I have to stop singing on the podcast. We're going to get into that on Friday.

[00:00:36]

On Friday. We're going to get into it.

[00:00:38]

We're going to get into kind of like, what's been going down.

[00:00:41]

There's a bit of drama in our lives.

[00:00:43]

No, it's kind of like major.

[00:00:45]

It is kind of major. We haven't even spoken about it on a personal level. Like one to one off email. Like, seven lawyers emailing us. Yeah.

[00:00:53]

No, you and I. Good way. You and I have been communicating via email with our team of litigators.

[00:00:58]

With our team of lawyers. Yeah.

[00:01:00]

Seven business deals. Seven attorneys. And we'll talk about it on Friday. Okay.

[00:01:05]

Yeah. I don't think it needs to be discussed before Friday.

[00:01:07]

No, it wouldn't be appropriate to discuss it before Friday.

[00:01:11]

Wouldn't be.

[00:01:12]

So today's Tuesday. And I know this doesn't sound amazing, but let me put some things in perspective.

[00:01:17]

Okay. We need. Okay.

[00:01:18]

Like, because I was thinking today, I'm like, oh, wait. As I was getting ready, I'm like.

[00:01:21]

What day is it? Tuesday.

[00:01:21]

I was like, yeah, okay. Yeah. Do we wish it was Thursday? Of course. But at least it's not Monday. At least we've already started. Do you know what mean?

[00:01:28]

Yes, but, like, there was excitement on Monday yesterday, and it was.

[00:01:31]

I know.

[00:01:32]

We had so much stuff to week anew, and now we're just in the thick of it.

[00:01:38]

I know. And there's not like a big new Taylor and Travis story that we could hold onto to buoy ourselves to.

[00:01:43]

But the stories actually did come together nicely today. Took a while, but I feel good with where they're at.

[00:01:48]

Okay. I'm excited about that. I have a lot of thoughts. I know two of the stories I did ask to discuss, and one in particular I have a lot of thoughts on, so I can't wait to get to that.

[00:01:57]

Great. Well, we'll get to it soon. Just need to catch up with the swirlies. We recorded redheads yesterday, so, you guys, it's time to become a redhead. Like, stop being uncultured, uneducated.

[00:02:08]

Swine.

[00:02:09]

Swine. Sorry, swine. And join the redheads. We read great books we just read. None of this is true by Lisa Jewell, which Turdy recommended. So if turdy liked it, and we liked it, like, everybody liked, you liked it. Yeah. Okay.

[00:02:21]

It was good, right?

[00:02:22]

Yeah, it was super cute. And it's like true crime, by the way. How about podcast?

[00:02:27]

Hate that bitch josie? Like, such a loser. But then also, that other girl was like, you're so easily being taken advantage of. How do you not see what's going on?

[00:02:37]

She let this nut job into her precious life with her precious kids. Oh, sorry. I don't want to spoil it, but. No, that's really not what it's about.

[00:02:43]

It's not at all. So I'm so glad everyone enjoyed. Love, love. Churny's influencing the redheads, while the redheads influence the culture.

[00:02:50]

While the redheads influence the culture. And yesterday was our 50th episode. Wow. Can you believe that? 50 books.

[00:02:58]

It's amazing. If you just stay with the redheads.

[00:03:01]

You will have read 50 books, right? Just stick with us. You know what?

[00:03:04]

We didn't discuss that. I feel like actually would have been a great story. If you have a story you want.

[00:03:09]

To swap out, I guess there's one.

[00:03:12]

Moshe posted it on instagram. They did this big study on the reading habits of Americans based on age group, gender, race, and how many books people are reading. And I thought it was really interesting. Like, for women, the most popular was, like, true crime. And if you've read more than, I think, 50 books this year, you're in the top, like, 0.1% of readers. It was really interesting.

[00:03:31]

But, like, most Americans read one book in the year. That's what I read.

[00:03:35]

Yeah, barely. Barely. But then it was also really interesting to see genres based on ethnicity or race. It was super interesting. Let me pull it up, actually, because there were some key takeaways. Moshe posts so much, I don't know how I'm ever going to find this thing.

[00:03:49]

Take your time. But not too much time.

[00:03:51]

No, I won't take my time also. Okay, hold on. Reading. We do it every day. We're reading in the evening, and even when we play. Oh, here. 46% of Americans did not read any books last year. 5% read more than one book.

[00:04:11]

Okay. Wow.

[00:04:12]

That's very little, you guys.

[00:04:15]

We've got to step it up. You guys need to become a redhead. It's time. This was interesting. Jerry needs to join the redheads.

[00:04:20]

Paper books are two times more popular than ebooks.

[00:04:23]

That makes sense.

[00:04:24]

Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you guys, I left my Kindle on the plane again.

[00:04:28]

We saw your Instagram story. We don't feel sorry for you.

[00:04:30]

Fuck is wrong.

[00:04:31]

How are you leaving it on a plane? What, do you put it in the pocket? In a seat back in front of you?

[00:04:34]

I must.

[00:04:35]

That's disgusting.

[00:04:36]

It's so dumb.

[00:04:37]

And by the way, not even dumb. Gross. I want it back after that with the vomit bag.

[00:04:42]

Fathom. I can't even fathom how I left my Kindle on the plane. I didn't even read on the plane. What was it doing out?

[00:04:48]

Maybe that's on me. Trying to get you to stop reading.

[00:04:50]

That's on me. I own that one. White readers prefer mystery and crime over other genres. Black readers prefer religion and spirituality, and hispanic readers prefer history. Young adults favor fantasy, of course. Millennials favor history. And older readers prefer mystery and crime.

[00:05:09]

That's so funny that this whole movement of romance and reading smud is not represented here at all.

[00:05:17]

Well, maybe that's because it's kind of multi generational, multicultural.

[00:05:21]

No, but it just feels like these books, like the Hugo's, like. But they have taken over the world. They're in the list every week.

[00:05:29]

Yeah, where's the romance representation?

[00:05:31]

And where's, like, the Taylor Jenkins read? Where does she fall into it?

[00:05:36]

So how many books did you read last year?

[00:05:38]

42.

[00:05:39]

You were in the 94th percentile. I'm in the 99.

[00:05:44]

Me?

[00:05:44]

Yeah, you.

[00:05:45]

Little old me.

[00:05:47]

I just thought that was so interesting.

[00:05:49]

That is interesting. But it is interesting how, like, you think book talk has changed the reading landscape, and in a lot of ways it hasn't.

[00:05:56]

And this is not shocking, but ebooks attract the heaviest readers, which makes them upset.

[00:06:01]

Yeah, of course.

[00:06:02]

I thought that was fascinating. I guess we don't need to include it as a story, because I just did.

[00:06:05]

Because we just debriefed so we can stick with the five that we have.

[00:06:09]

When does redheads come out? Tomorrow.

[00:06:11]

I'm standing by the five. Turdy. How could you ask that?

[00:06:14]

Thursday. Thursday. Sorry. In two days.

[00:06:17]

In two days? Yes. First Thursday of the month, which this month was on February 1, so we had to get stepping. We had to get to stepping on recording rough. Yeah, but you know what? We turned out always fun to be with the swirly. Such a great group. Such a great group of dynamic readers.

[00:06:34]

With women's opinions of dynamic women.

[00:06:37]

Women.

[00:06:39]

Let's talk about. No, let's not. I had a very busy morning, actually. My home is really coming together. Very exciting. I got my couches, I got my drapes. I cannot wait. I'm also hosting book club next week, and I was not going to host if my couch was not going to come in time. But my couch came.

[00:06:54]

Pressure's on. Are you going to cook? No, but it's balabusta.

[00:06:58]

Yeah, no, but I'm going to do, like, a kosher catering. Like, I'm going to really go all out for the girlies. They deserve it, Jackie. The chili, they deserve good food. They don't deserve whatever crap I can scrounge together.

[00:07:07]

Have Ben Cook.

[00:07:11]

I want my house to be so clean, I don't want to have to then clean the kitchen after I cook, I'll be ordering from a kosher butcher or something.

[00:07:18]

And what are you reading?

[00:07:20]

Oh, I have to read the book. It's called, like, kitty car.

[00:07:25]

Oh, the lives of kitty car.

[00:07:27]

Something. Yeah, kitty car.

[00:07:28]

I've seen it. I think it was a Reese's pick. I was tempted by it.

[00:07:32]

Oh, was it?

[00:07:33]

Yeah. I almost chose it, like, once for the redheads, and then. I don't love when something that we choose. Also, Reese has chosen because it just feels like everyone in the world is reading the same book when we should be all reading more than one book.

[00:07:46]

And you should be platforming multiple.

[00:07:48]

Right, right. And this author has already had her moment. So actually, I think that was the month I chose Edvika, and I feel good about that.

[00:07:56]

Okay.

[00:07:57]

Hollywood wives. This was, like, kind of similar Sally diamond, but somebody in the book club had read it. Darn, darn, darn.

[00:08:11]

Yeah. So that's exciting. My house is coming along. It's so great when you start to love your, like, I can't wait to get home and hang this piece of know what piece of art. Just the art that you bought me that's now going in my dining room.

[00:08:24]

Oh, my gosh. The gray mallet.

[00:08:27]

Is it gray mallet or it's the other one?

[00:08:29]

Slim. Arrange one of them.

[00:08:30]

It's one of them. It's giving italian landscape. It's going in my dining room. It matches perfectly, and I'm so excited. So it's truly the gift that keeps on giving.

[00:08:38]

Me. Little old me.

[00:08:40]

So anything else you want to catch up on before we dive in?

[00:08:45]

Busy day yesterday. Just doing a lot of personal admin.

[00:08:49]

Personal. Oh, you know what? I actually made a TikTok this morning that I wanted to bring up today because there's this big conversation. This girl's video on TikTok went viral. Her name is Darcy, and she does, like, beauty makeup stuff, and so she's, like, unbox my pr with me. I've been gone for a week, and, Jackie, there might have been 500 boxes. It was the craziest thing, and it really spawned this conversation about the gifting and industry. And we've been having this conversation on the toast for many years. No one listens to us. But now on TikTok, everyone's talking about it. So I made a TikTok, like, giving my two cent, and I wanted to know, what's your thoughts and experience on the insane amount of gifting that comes with being an influencer? Obviously, it's like a first world problem. This isn't real, but what are your thoughts?

[00:09:25]

My thoughts are, when it's good, keep sending it. When it's crap, you can keep it, and you know when it's crap.

[00:09:31]

Jackie, I literally said that in my TikTok. I'm like, at the end of the day, what most people don't realize, I think a lot of people look at the gifting thing as, with envy. And what you don't realize is it's all crap.

[00:09:41]

It's all crap. And nobody throws it away. So you want to donate it, but you also feel bad, like, just getting rid of all this stuff. So you try and incorporate it into your life, and then you just have so much crap.

[00:09:51]

It's crap.

[00:09:52]

It's crap on crap. But what I've noticed is I feel like beauty brands used to send their whole collection to influencers because it's hard to guess someone's shade.

[00:10:01]

Yeah, of course.

[00:10:01]

But now they're sending, like, four shades. Yeah.

[00:10:03]

I just saw Kylie's foundation launch. Did that.

[00:10:06]

I just saw Kylie's foundation. I've been seeing some of the videos, and I'm really tempted to try it. The thing is, though, I love my foundation, and I have no issues with it. I don't know how a foundation could be better for me than the one that I'm using.

[00:10:18]

Foundation is also so personal.

[00:10:20]

But it looks thick. I like a thick granny foundation.

[00:10:24]

You do like a thick granny.

[00:10:25]

I like full coverage.

[00:10:27]

I've heard it's very matte and, like, drying. I don't know if that's your vibe.

[00:10:31]

No, but that's not what I heard. Where'd you hear that?

[00:10:34]

Like, people reviewing it on social media.

[00:10:36]

I feel like I need to just try it, but then it's like, it's hard to just try it because I still have to get probably three colors to find my color.

[00:10:43]

Well, you could go to Ulta.

[00:10:45]

Could I?

[00:10:47]

Such a good point.

[00:10:48]

Like, seriously, could I?

[00:10:50]

No. I mean, yes, actually, you could if.

[00:10:54]

I'm leaving the house, look at my nails. You guys don't want to see my toes?

[00:10:59]

Oh, my God.

[00:10:59]

What I did to my toes. I tried to clip them, Claudia. They look like dinosaurs, like raggedy jaggedy.

[00:11:06]

Was that Charlie or Harry? Pregnancy where I clipped your toenails for you? I feel like it was Harry. Both.

[00:11:11]

They were scared after I gave birth to Harry. Yeah, they were really long.

[00:11:16]

We were all just, like, coming over every day, and she was just, like, had her dogs out, and I was.

[00:11:20]

Like, I think for the culture in my bed, like, nursing my child, I.

[00:11:24]

Said, for the culture, we need to get these dogs under control.

[00:11:28]

And so she trimmed them. But it's hard to clip your own.

[00:11:30]

Toenails, even not as a pregnant person.

[00:11:33]

Yeah, no, but even, like, I just clipped my toenails because they were getting too long and I didn't do a good job. And why is it so hard?

[00:11:42]

Oh, I did want to share something, like, not to brag, but I did reach a new personal milestone yesterday.

[00:11:48]

Okay.

[00:11:49]

At the gym. So running is really hard for me. I'm just, like, an extremely out of shape person. Between the vaping and being obese for many years, it's just not something I can do. So I've been trying to run for a full song ever since I started my health training. It's really hard. I ran for 4 minutes straight yesterday. Thank you. Thank you. And I really feel as though the only reason I was able to do it was because I pulled up on YouTube the 1989 version of wildest Dreams ex enchanted. And, like, the last 4 minutes of that when she's just going so hard, it powered me through, and I was really proud of myself. I was sweating so hard. It's like, literally 4 minutes. How embarrassing is that? Whatever. I did it.

[00:12:31]

You know, on facetime, when you do a thumbs up now it does a thumbs up bubble.

[00:12:35]

I'm so glad you brought that up.

[00:12:37]

Because I keep getting thumbs ups from you, and I know you're not giving a thumbs up, but I actually did just give you a thumbs up. Are you getting it?

[00:12:43]

Oh, no, I'm on my computer.

[00:12:45]

Yeah, no, I'm getting it on my computer. I'm on my computer, too.

[00:12:47]

Oh, I got a thumbs up. Obsessed.

[00:12:51]

Okay.

[00:12:51]

Because I just got the new phone and somebody.

[00:12:52]

Couple grandmas.

[00:12:53]

Wait, Jackie, do you know this one? You can send hearts if you do heart hands and two p signs. Hold on. Okay. One p sign sends balloons, and then two p sign sends balloons and confetti.

[00:13:13]

I didn't get that. But it works out. Leave you. That's very cool. Let's get a pregnant redhead.

[00:13:18]

I'm loving my new iPhone.

[00:13:20]

Got it. Let's get a redhead bride.

[00:13:23]

Yes. Because redheads are tried wives, too. Like, they get married and settled down.

[00:13:29]

Redheads get pregnant redheaded, baby redheaded, anything. And then also, it's like, okay, so we have pregnant man but not pregnant redheaded man.

[00:13:40]

Right. Well, then it's a slippery slope.

[00:13:42]

Yeah, but they have to wait in line.

[00:13:44]

Oh, imagine if they did pregnant redheaded man before.

[00:13:48]

They would. No.

[00:13:50]

At the rate that things are going. Yes. That's actually, like, the logical next step.

[00:13:54]

Yeah. Anything to not get the redhead variant. But I'm so glad I've gotten so much outreach and support from redheads. The redheads group chats are popping off that I am speaking for the people. I'm the voice of the people. And you guys, I'm happy to do time at this point.

[00:14:08]

It's you. And, like, yeah, it is.

[00:14:11]

And Shannon was just, I saw after we recorded that she was literally saying this on her story that there's no redhead bride. She is a redheaded bride. But if she were a male bride, then she'd have an emoji.

[00:14:23]

Oh, Shannon's coming town. Let me tell you. Shannon called me yesterday, and it was when my drapes were being installed. And she's like, what does that sound? I'm like, oh, my drapes are being installed. She's like, oh, my God. So funny. My drapes were just installed. And I was, like, so excited about my drapes. And then she showed me.

[00:14:34]

So exciting, jackie.

[00:14:35]

Then she showed me, like, her bedroom.

[00:14:37]

I can't deal with Shannon's house.

[00:14:38]

I wanted to burn my house to the ground. I was like, oh, she's like, show me yours. I'm like, no, they're not done.

[00:14:45]

I. When I was on her podcast, I was saying this to Shannon. This is, like, two separate things. But what I was like, her house came together so quickly, so beautifully done to a t. But she says it's because of tailored. Her best friend is really great with designing. Just tells her what to buy. But the thing about Shannon is like, oh, she wants to paint her kitchen cabinets. It's done tomorrow. She's so quick with it. I need to take my Christmas tree down at 06:00 a.m. On December 26. She was wrong for that moment.

[00:15:13]

She was wrong for that.

[00:15:14]

She explained why she did it, and I understood just that feeling of needing to purge. And she had moved so much furniture around for her Christmas setup, and she had people staying with her, and they never got to see her house as it is without all the Christmas crap. And normal.

[00:15:29]

To me, that's just, like, an extremely privileged thing to do. She doesn't know what it's like to.

[00:15:34]

Some people don't have a Christmas tree.

[00:15:35]

She doesn't know what it's like to not be able to decorate for Christmas. So to take it down so quickly and swiftly and so kind of disrespectfully.

[00:15:43]

No, she made it made sense to me. But I feel the same way. Even the other day, she posted her messy closet, and she's like, don't worry. It was so messy. Like, no shade. And she was like, don't worry, it will be cleaned up today. And it was cleaned up today for me, if that were my closet three months later.

[00:15:57]

I actually relate to Shannon in that sense. If something needs to be done, I'll get it done that day. Like, I'm extremely like, except this pap smear. I have been needing to get a pap smear for, like, two months. And I just. Every day, I'm like, oh, I have to make the appointment today. I have to make the appointment today, and I just can't make the appointment.

[00:16:14]

When it comes to making appointments, I'm not your girl.

[00:16:16]

Yeah, you're not.

[00:16:18]

No. But I've realized that's something I can delegate to my husband. Not my pap smear, but appointments in general.

[00:16:25]

I love that. I love the phase of growing up where you realize our husbands can help us. They should take stuff off our plates.

[00:16:33]

And the thing is, our husbands love talking on the phone.

[00:16:35]

Love.

[00:16:36]

And it's my weakness in life. And so I think that's a perfect situation where this is now your responsibility. Yeah.

[00:16:47]

Okay. So I feel as though we've dillydally long enough.

[00:16:50]

Yeah. I mean, you know us. We could always.

[00:16:53]

We could wax poetic.

[00:16:55]

We could dilly further and dally further.

[00:16:58]

We could always dally further. I don't know about Dilly. She is so lost.

[00:17:04]

Without further dilly dallying, here are the fast five stories that you need to know.

[00:17:08]

And major news is that the fast five stories are brought to you by McDonald's. That's right. We have reached elite level of podcasting. McDonald's is today's sponsor as toasters. You guys know we are truly, wholeheartedly obsessed and in love with McDonald's. I think we talk about McDonald's at least once a week on the toast. Is there anything better than getting home from a late night and having McDonald's taking a long road trip with your gal pals and just cruising on through the drive thru. No, there's literally nothing better. Also, if you're just a busy on the go person, kids mouths to feed, yourself included. McDonald's is so great. It's just fabulous. And we're so excited to partner with McDonald's to talk about their classic burgers, which are hotter, juicier and tastier than ever before. So much so that the hamburger is back on the loose. We have nothing but empathy and respect for the hamburglar because how could you blame him for trying to get the Big Mac he deserves? McDonald's patties are cooked to juicy perfection and the cheese is perfectly melted. We're talking a pillowy, soft golden bun and a big mock Big Mac, excuse me, and a Big Mac that now has more special sauce in every bite.

[00:18:15]

We stand firmly with the hamburglar because these are truly McDonald's best classic burgers ever. You can try McDonald's best burgers ever at a McDonald's new year. And that's a fabulous thing about McDonald's. There's always one somewhere. So treat yourself. It's only Tuesday. We have a lot more living to do. So get that burger from McDonald's and treat yourself at a McDonald's near you. Today's episode is also brought to you by Kiwico Kiwico Panda Crate is a bimonthly subscription for babies zero to 24 months. It's perfect for brain building, playmade fun. It's made with care. Kiwico products are free of BFa, flatholates and lead. They use only nontoxic water based paints and finishes. So Kiwico is a fabulous thing to get for your kids. I feel like what I've learned by being a full time auntie, stay at home auntie, is it is hard to keep these kids engaged. It is hard to find toys that will keep them busy but also intellectually stimulated. You don't want to just pop them in front of a screen for hours. [00:20:08]

Our first story, we've got some musical beef today. The first two. First one. Nicki Minaj releases Megan Thee stallion diss track called Bigfoot amid their ongoing feud. So Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion have been having a musical feud over the last few days. Last week, Megan Thee Stallion put out a song called Hiss. And there is a line on the song about Megan's Law, which is about a law that requires the sex offender registry to register with the state. And we know that Nicki Minaj's husband is a level two sex offender in New York City.

[00:20:42]

So is her brother.

[00:20:43]

So this line seems to be about a little bit of a diss towards Nicki Minaj.

[00:20:50]

The thing is that it could have been a diss towards Nicki Minaj, but Nicki Minaj took it personally and then released her own diss track, basically just kind of outing herself as the target of this lyric. It probably was about Nicki Minaj, but it could have not know.

[00:21:05]

Yeah, she had plausible deniability, but maybe there's stuff going on behind the scenes where they. Because the origin of this feud is weird. They've been, they've worked together, worked together before, and they've been fine. So it's like, what happened? Is this the first thing to happen? If this is the first thing to happen, yeah, it's kind of an outside reaction, but if there's stuff behind the scenes. And then Megan took it public with this line, Megan's law. Now Nikki's responding in kind. She put out a song called Bigfoot, and she put it out a few days after the initial song came out. So she moves quickly.

[00:21:35]

And I listened to it's definitely about Megan thee stallion.

[00:21:40]

Yeah. So here are some of the lyrics. This little begging w word talking about Megan's law.

[00:21:48]

What's the w word?

[00:21:49]

I don't know.

[00:21:51]

Oh, they bleeped it out.

[00:21:53]

They bleeped it out.

[00:21:54]

I was thinking when or which, but.

[00:21:56]

Like, they wouldn't bleep that out.

[00:21:58]

I don't know. What's a w word?

[00:22:01]

Stand up in the comments, even though it's.

[00:22:02]

Oh, God.

[00:22:06]

Okay, here's the ride. This lil begging w talking about hit this lil begging, w talking about Megan's law for a free beat. You could hit Megan raw.

[00:22:17]

Ooh.

[00:22:18]

If you a ghost writer, party in Megan jaw.

[00:22:22]

If you a ghost writer, party in Megan's jaw. I get it.

[00:22:28]

I think, like, blowjob.

[00:22:30]

Yeah. Okay.

[00:22:31]

I think shots thrown. But I still ain't let Megan score. Bad bitch. She like six foot. I call her bigfoot. The bitch fell off. I said, get up on your good foot because, you know, she was shot.

[00:22:43]

In the foot by Tori Lanes.

[00:22:45]

She was shot in the foot by Tory lanes. She also accuses Megan of lying to Gail King on CBS Morning about the details of the 2020 assault by Tori Lanez.

[00:22:55]

Oh, wow. I remember when we reported on that story, Jackie said the name Tory Lanez a thousand times. And every single time she called him Tori Lanez. Also, I saw this morning it said Megan thee stallion was going on GMA. She had a big announcement, and then I never saw what the announcement is.

[00:23:15]

I don't think GMA is where you take your beef. Whatever she's announcing, it's going to be like an album collaboration with the brat styles, not like, what response to Nicki Minaj. Anyways, she also, in the outro, Nikki teases there's a second installment to the dish track, and she repeats, lying on your dead mama. On your dead mama. She said, oh ho. The things you've lied about, even pertaining to your mom, you don't want them out. Okay. Now, since you think it's funny to speak about people's families, we'll all join in. We'll all play the reindeer games.

[00:23:46]

So here's where I stand. I feel as though we were just having the conversation about Nicki Minaj. Like, she's so funny and iconic and she's so deeply problematic. But know, this was like a gentle reminder. She is married to a sex offender and related to one. And it's just, like, low key crazy. It really is. And I think that Megan Thee stallion low key got shot in the foot. And I feel like this is the third time it's been made into a rap lyric and people make fun of her. I feel like the rap community has actually been really awful to her after she was literally shot. And I kind of stand with thee stallion.

[00:24:20]

Oh, really?

[00:24:22]

Yeah. And then Nicki Minaj. Once this track came out, megan Thee stallion, like, really played this well. She released the track, then Nikki responded. Nicki's been going insane on social media, leaving the most insane comments on regular users, like, people in the fandoms, TikToks and stuff. She's been kind of acting like a nut, and Meg is just kind of letting her act nutty. So I do feel like Megan won, even though Megan did start it. She did start it.

[00:24:44]

Yeah. I don't know. I was going to say, I think this song, it's really good. The lyrics are cutting. It's a good diss track. Like, she thoroughly dissed her. Yep.

[00:24:55]

She's been dissed.

[00:24:56]

She's been dissed. And I feel like Nicki Minaj finds herself in these feuds often. So it's kind of like a Nicki thing, but at this to, I'm sticking with Nicki.

[00:25:07]

Oh, wow.

[00:25:08]

Yeah. And I feel like when she was fighting with Cardi B, we didn't.

[00:25:13]

We didn't know.

[00:25:14]

Where's Cardi B?

[00:25:16]

I stood firmly with Cardi B.

[00:25:18]

Right.

[00:25:18]

Because I felt as though Nikki really couldn't handle not being the only female rapper, and she should have been more supportive, even though that's so much easier said than done by the. Like, I honestly kind of stand with Nikki on mean. Where is Cardi B? That's a good call.

[00:25:33]

Who knows what the beef is. I just think time and time again, like, Nikki, she's hysterical. Her music is great. Like, the fact that she wrote this seriously disfellow track, it's extremely disfellow. It's extremely disval. In a matter of days. She's the queen.

[00:25:51]

She's a supreme talent. I don't think anyone's going to argue that her personal life is a little chaotic.

[00:25:57]

Yeah. Okay. When we're talking about this, I just have to take that out of it because of course, she loses every time. Okay.

[00:26:04]

By the way, you have to say that.

[00:26:05]

Yeah, no, sorry.

[00:26:07]

You're taking the sex offender thing out of the equation, even though it's like a major part.

[00:26:10]

I know it's hard to just take out of the equation, but if we put it on the table, there's nothing else to talk about.

[00:26:18]

No, it's so true. It's kind of like game over.

[00:26:20]

Game over. So we kind of have to take it off the table so we can even talk about the diss track.

[00:26:24]

But that's unfair to Megan thee stallion, because facts are facts. Like your husband's a sex offender.

[00:26:27]

No, it's like. And. Okay, why we just take stuff off the table. No, I understand.

[00:26:32]

I just really like thee stallion. I also really like Nicki Minaj. You know, just, what if we just didn't take sides?

[00:26:39]

Okay. And I think also with, like, time will tell. We'll see how it ages.

[00:26:49]

Yeah. Also, I do think it's probably best for Megan, thee stallion, not to respond, because Nikki does look, like a little.

[00:26:56]

Yeah.

[00:26:57]

Just, like, going off for days.

[00:26:59]

Yeah, it's a big response to a one line.

[00:27:02]

Yeah, she just really also just outed herself in responding, for sure.

[00:27:08]

But Nikki's not, like, coy like that. Like, oh, maybe if I don't say anything, like, no one will notice that.

[00:27:12]

It'S about me, that my husband's a sex.

[00:27:15]

You know, she's not, like, trying to hide.

[00:27:17]

Yeah, that's true.

[00:27:18]

She's like, what'd you say? Say it again. Say it to my.

[00:27:22]

Yeah. Like, this just could never be me. I'm so averse to confrontation, especially, like, I feel like we're really not. And maybe this is to our detriment because this is, like, a huge part of being, like, a podcaster. And just, like, an Internet person is, like, having beef.

[00:27:37]

It is. But then everyone who has beef, they talk a big talk, and then the second the other person hears it, they're like, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that.

[00:27:44]

It's so true. But should we start some beef for our careers? I think we need to have beef with Tana Mojo. No, actually, I really like her. And I also like her co host. She has a podcast, too.

[00:28:00]

Who should we beef? Do we have current beef?

[00:28:03]

Well, we'll talk about it on Friday.

[00:28:05]

Oh, yes, for sure.

[00:28:07]

We have beef. We have beef.

[00:28:10]

Social media beef. I feel like a lot of the beef has been squashed recently.

[00:28:14]

Yes, I would agree with you, but there was never, like, actual beef. We're girls. We just see other people on social media, and we're like, ew.

[00:28:23]

No, but, no, we've had beef, and now we don't have beef.

[00:28:27]

Who are you talking? Actually? Yeah.

[00:28:30]

She talk about it squashed.

[00:28:32]

No. Okay.

[00:28:33]

Because that's the thing about squashing beef. Like, you mean you don't bring it up. You don't move back.

[00:28:37]

And I do think it's worth mentioning we're not going to bring it up, but in the beef, we actually were wrong.

[00:28:42]

Yeah.

[00:28:44]

So it's not like if we brought it up, it would actually only be, like, in a positive light for the person. We squashed the beef with.

[00:28:49]

Yeah, that they would be forgiving.

[00:28:51]

But we're not going to talk about it. But just know, like, you're right. We currently have no Internet beef. I forgot. And we've talked about that beef before. We did have beef. We do not have beef anymore. It's vegetarian.

[00:29:02]

It's vegetarian. I actually was just realizing, I think I have beef with someone who.

[00:29:09]

Text it to me. Jackie's laughing like an evil witch. And she has beef.

[00:29:17]

I definitely have beef. When I send you this person's name, you're going to be like, yeah, there's beef.

[00:29:22]

There is beef. And you know what? I hate her. She's wrong and you're right.

[00:29:27]

Thank you. Did you ever respond? I don't think so.

[00:29:30]

I mean, that was humiliating.

[00:29:32]

It would be classic me if someone responded like a dis in my dm and I didn't see it.

[00:29:37]

It's so true. Like, too busy to beef.

[00:29:40]

Too busy to beef.

[00:29:42]

That's the name of our dis track. Too busy to beef.

[00:29:46]

And the thing about my beef is that if you guys, like, what happened was public, so there's nothing that happened behind the scenes. Like, you guys couldn't maybe figure it out.

[00:29:55]

Oh, my God, that's so funny. I totally forgot about that.

[00:30:00]

Yeah. Okay.

[00:30:01]

I guess we, like Loki, do have beef.

[00:30:03]

Yeah. Love beef. Are you ready for our next.

[00:30:07]

Wait, also, let me text you one more person who I feel like we might have beef with.

[00:30:10]

Me or you. We okay. Texted we're united front. If one of us has beef, all of us have beef. Oh, yeah.

[00:30:17]

By the way, I stand with you against that other bitch.

[00:30:19]

Oh, yeah. That one is a little like, we.

[00:30:22]

Do have beef with that.

[00:30:23]

Unfortunately, we do have beef.

[00:30:24]

And I meant to tell you, we actually just got like an email about that beef.

[00:30:27]

You're lying.

[00:30:30]

How annoying is this conversation for people listening who aren't us?

[00:30:33]

The thing is, everything that we're discussing, it's all public domain. So if you've been paying attention closely, you could piece it together.

[00:30:41]

Yeah. Do I have beef with anyone else? Well, did I say on this podcast that I officially squashed a beef between Shannon and Tinks?

[00:30:48]

You did. Or maybe it was on Patreon breaking Fred, but it's okay. A week delay. You had a week exclusive on I'm.

[00:30:54]

Bringing the girlies together. Shannon and Tink's beef is over. They squashed it. They don't even remember what it was about. And they're both agreed just to drop it and be friends. Now they follow each other.

[00:31:02]

Love, love.

[00:31:04]

Bring it like, that's the. Okay, you know.

[00:31:08]

Are you ready for our next story, which is more musical beef?

[00:31:11]

Yes. I'm so excited about this one.

[00:31:14]

Zach Bryan and Walter Hayes are beefing.

[00:31:16]

Walter Walker.

[00:31:23]

Walter Hayes and Tony Lanes.

[00:31:28]

Walker Hayes and Tori Linz. Yeah.

[00:31:32]

Not Tony.

[00:31:34]

Tori.

[00:31:35]

Wait, but it's a man.

[00:31:38]

Tori. It's Tori. It's a man named Tori.

[00:31:40]

Yeah. Confusing.

[00:31:42]

Confusing. It's a redheaded, pregnant man named Tori Lanez. Oh, no. Oh, no. Okay, back to the story. Turdy Linz. Tori Linz will never. It's like majesty shock. It's so funny. It's really. You made it french. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

[00:32:22]

I'm often cracking up that, like, we.

[00:32:23]

Totally spoke about that story once.

[00:32:26]

I said Tori Lanez the whole time.

[00:32:29]

And then we never spoke about it again. It was just giving, like, mic drop. Linz, boom, drop.

[00:32:36]

And I'm sorry. It will always be Linz for me.

[00:32:39]

I agree. It has and always will be Linnez.

[00:32:42]

And considering, like, he shot someone and he's in jail, he doesn't deserve that. I have to get his name right.

[00:32:48]

Oh, 1000%.

[00:32:51]

Also, if it's lanes with a Z, that's probably not his real name, right?

[00:32:55]

It's Linz, so it's Linz.

[00:32:57]

Anyways, Walker Hayes and Zach Bryan are beefing because Zach Bryan woke up one day and decided to be a little.

[00:33:07]

However. However, he woke up and decided to be rude, but also, to tell a hard truth. I'm sorry.

[00:33:13]

Yeah, no, but at the expense of someone. And he said, imagine being radio whoever the hell that is, hearing shake the frost by Tyler Childers and being. No, no, let's go with the Applebee's song, which is a reference to the Walker Hayes song called Fancy like, which was huge on TikTok. And then there's a line about Applebee's. So it's clearly about that song. Right.

[00:33:33]

If people don't know the context. In country, Tyler Childers is kind of this more outskirts. He's very not, like, pop mainstream country. He's very folksy. But he's a really big following. And one of his biggest songs is called Shake the Frost. He's very deep, very country. It's kind of poetic. And the Applebee's song was, like, the number one song on country radio for, like, three months. And it goes like this. Yeah, we fancy, like, applebee's on a date night. Got that bourbon streak steak with the Oreo shake and some whipped cream and a top is. It was played everywhere. You definitely know the song. It was played everywhere. Yeah, we all know it nonstop for probably three months. And it was some of the worst months of my life. Like, for real, actually, in its essence. I agree with his point.

[00:34:17]

Yeah. But in order to raise up one artist, he had to throw another artist under the bus, even though he was really trying to make a commentary about radio in general culture. Yeah. And instead, he besmirched Walker Hayes's name. And Walker Hayes is fighting back. So he responded to the tweet.

[00:34:35]

At first he just responded with another tweet, and it was very mature.

[00:34:39]

What did it say? I can't find it.

[00:34:41]

It was just like different strokes. Very mature, very bigger person. Let me find it. I can tell you exactly what it was.

[00:34:54]

Yeah. Because then after that, he did a little more.

[00:35:04]

Hold on.

[00:35:05]

Take your time.

[00:35:07]

You're right. Where is his tweet? Oh. Walker Hayes then responded. Big shout out to radio for that Applebee's song, Zach and Tyler praying y'all's continued success. So honestly, had he left it at that, I would have had a lot of respect. Now he was insulted, so he has every right to respond. But Zach Bryan, like, had a good point. I'm sorry.

[00:35:34]

Yeah, he did his response. The first one was good. And then he decided to also put out a song about the situation. The lyrics include woke up.

[00:35:43]

So he took the high road and then the next day changed his mind and recorded a song about it.

[00:35:48]

Yeah, no, I think he's still on the high road because it was a mature song with like a mature message. Still not like a diss track, but it just was a little extra. So the lyrics go like this. Woke up this morning read something mean, something in the orange says you're feeling green felt like throwing punches I just held him back because Jesus didn't die for me so I could fight with Zach. That'll be me next time I'm getting to a fight with my husband. Literally in the post caption. So he posted the song to his Instagram, and then in the caption, he said, me and my buddies were talking about the whole Zach Bryan thing. They were saying they appreciated how I responded. I confessed that they only saw my best foot forward. I had a hundred smart ass responses in the chamber that I didn't fire off. Then we got to talking about people in general, why we get insecure, etc. Mostly about how artists size each other up, compare, and talk trash. It's obviously our natural human tendency to be a little butthurt by anyone else's success. Then we wondered about that.

[00:36:47]

Why on earth. We would do that as songwriters, knowing that zero, zero. 1% of us are actually making it in this biz. It took me 18 years to feed my kids with music, and I'll still knock something I hear on the radio because I didn't write it. So we tried our best to put it all in a twanger, and this is what we got. I hope it makes y'all talk about stuff that matters, like, so mature.

[00:37:07]

We love. Yeah. But I feel as though I'm annoyed that Zach Bryan comes off as the villain here because I think his point needs to be spoken about. What is it with country radio also? Just radio in general, how the worst songs become the most popular? What is that?

[00:37:27]

And not the worst songs, but there are sometimes bad, not the best songs that they play over and over again. Like, why?

[00:37:34]

Right?

[00:37:34]

And we're forced into liking them. But I feel like fancy, like, went viral on TikTok, not on radio. And they started playing it on the radio because it was so big on TikTok.

[00:37:46]

Perhaps that's actually a good point.

[00:37:47]

I don't know that that one's, like, the best example, but I do think there know argument to be made here. But I think in general now, Walker Hayes is trying to capitalize on the moment. I think he's also trying to. He sees that people are talking about him. People might not know him as an artist. And I think aside from fancy, like, he's a very talented singer and songwriter, and he writes, like, soulful music, not just Applebee's jingles.

[00:38:09]

Right.

[00:38:10]

And he's trying to use this moment to show everyone what a talented artist he is. Like, he wrote this song, what, overnight? And if you listen to it, he sounds amazing. So I think he's trying to use a moment to be like, I'm not just the fancy, like, guy because I'm sure part of him is, like, fancy, like, isn't my best song either. Why is radio playing it by the. Definitely.

[00:38:26]

I think that happens with a lot of singers. They resent that one song because it's not emblematic of who they are and what they're capable of. Yeah, I've been using the word emblematic so much. It's such a great word.

[00:38:36]

I feel like it's emblematic of how it is.

[00:38:39]

Yeah. But also, I do think it's a little bit of a miss in Walker Hayes's caption for him to be know, jealous of, like, zach Bryan's not jealous.

[00:38:52]

No, I don't think so either. I just really like Walker Hayes. We've interviewed him a few times at the CMA. He's a really nice person, sweetie.

[00:39:01]

He's, like, sober.

[00:39:02]

He's a dad.

[00:39:03]

He's really got, like, a good head on his shoulders, sweetie.

[00:39:06]

Yeah. And I like what he said. It took him 18 years to feed his kids through his music. He's not going to be knocking whatever song it is. The song to be the song to do that. Say song again.

[00:39:18]

Zach Bryan then did post another tweet being like, I didn't mean to bring down someone. I was just trying to make a point.

[00:39:23]

For sure. But you did bring someone down, and they're down. They're going to pick themselves up.

[00:39:31]

Yeah.

[00:39:33]

And I feel like, why you got to be walker?

[00:39:37]

Why you got to be so rude?

[00:39:40]

It could have been anyone. But I just feel like Walker really, he's not the biggest. Like, maybe go after, like, a Luke Bryan song. That stings.

[00:39:48]

It's such a good point. Like, all those oG country guys, like Luke Bryan, Jason Aldine. Like their music.

[00:39:54]

No, no. Their music doesn't suck. But they definitely have a corny song that's on the radio.

[00:39:58]

Go after that bumblebee, blake, chauffeur, sunset. Repeat. Like, that's the worst song on the planet.

[00:40:05]

Right? Like, go after one of them. Not the one song. Walker Hayes on the radio. But the thing is, when Zack Brian.

[00:40:09]

So true.

[00:40:10]

When Zach Brian woke up and decided to fire off his fire point, he wasn't thinking about this. He was just like, I'm making a fire point.

[00:40:16]

No, so true.

[00:40:17]

He wasn't thinking, how will this affect Walker's day?

[00:40:20]

Wait, he wasn't thinking, what about Walker?

[00:40:22]

No, he wasn't. And so that's. I guess therein lies the issue. He wasn't thinking about Walker, but he doesn't need to be thinking about Walker. He's just a person trying to say something.

[00:40:31]

Aren't we all just people trying to.

[00:40:33]

Say something every damn day.

[00:40:35]

Lattered every damn day.

[00:40:38]

So I'm gonna issue a truce here.

[00:40:43]

Yeah. Like, let's kind of do what we did with Shannon and just, you guys.

[00:40:48]

It wasn't meant to be personal. It's not like Megan's law.

[00:40:51]

Right? It's not like Mr. Linz. Also, at the end of the, like, this is a moment for Walker Hayes, which he really hasn't, so.

[00:41:00]

Yeah. And it's a great way for him to showcase his talent.

[00:41:04]

Right?

[00:41:05]

I think it's fine.

[00:41:06]

I think it's fine, too.

[00:41:08]

Are you ready for our next story?

[00:41:10]

What number is it?

[00:41:11]

Number three.

[00:41:12]

Yes.

[00:41:12]

And something that's, like, kind of not fine.

[00:41:15]

Oh, no.

[00:41:15]

Nikki and Brie Garcia, formerly Bella, are shocked and disheartened by WWE sexual assault and trafficking claims.

[00:41:23]

Excuse me.

[00:41:25]

Okay, so the sisters, who were previously part of the WWE under the stage name the Bella twins, left the company last year, and they had to change their name because the company owned the Bella name. So now they're the Garcia twins. You knew that. We talked about that.

[00:41:35]

I didn't know that. But they will always be the Bella twins.

[00:41:38]

Yeah, but. So it's like, ex, formerly Twitter. Garcia, formerly Bella. They shared a joint statement.

[00:41:43]

Toast, formerly breath.

[00:41:45]

Toast, formerly breath. They shared a statement on their respective Instagram accounts about the recent allegations of sexual assault against the company, along with its co founder, Vince McMahon, and WWE executive John Jackie.

[00:41:59]

Just let it go, McMahon. He's literally so famous.

[00:42:03]

Claudia, the next one's coming up. It's going to be worse.

[00:42:06]

Okay.

[00:42:07]

And WWE executive John Laurie, and teas, who's their stepdad?

[00:42:13]

Whose stepdad?

[00:42:14]

The Bella sisters. You know, their mom married that WWE executive.

[00:42:18]

Oh, I didn't know that.

[00:42:19]

You did. You watched Bella's show?

[00:42:21]

I don't think I did, actually.

[00:42:23]

Who am I talking?

[00:42:25]

No, like, you were obsessed with total diva. Like Bella.

[00:42:29]

I never watched total divas. I only just casually fell into the Bella's one.

[00:42:33]

I never watched.

[00:42:34]

Oh, my gosh. Okay, well, their mom was married to a WWE executive, or is married. John. They call him John. Okay, John L. A former employee is accusing Vince and John of sexual assault, physical and emotional abuse. Well, they're two separate things, but the former employee filed a lawsuit claiming that she experienced physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault, and trafficking while working at the company. Among her claims in the court docs, she alleged that Vince pushed her for a physical relationship in exchange for her employment at the WWE and that he had recruited John to have sexual relations with her as well.

[00:43:12]

Is that what makes it human trafficking? Yeah.

[00:43:15]

And then. So they put out a statement, and that's their stepdad saying, we are shocked and disheartened with the recent allegations against members of the WWE. It has been a lot to process since we found out this past week, just as you all did. This is something we don't stand for or condone from anyone, no matter who they are. We want all women to feel safe and supported in the workplace and in their everyday lives.

[00:43:33]

Damn.

[00:43:34]

Yeah.

[00:43:35]

Yikes.

[00:43:36]

Yikes. And it's also crazy how even though they're no longer in the WWE and they don't even have their name because of, like, they're still kind of the face and they have to.

[00:43:44]

No, it sucks. Wwe literally took their. Yeah, but they still are having to answer for the sins of the don't really. I don't believe in this culture where everyone connected to everything has to talk on everything. It is their stepdad, but they're not affiliated with this company anymore. I guess they are, like, the biggest women to come out of the WWE. So it's like a nice thing for them to stand in solidarity.

[00:44:08]

Yeah. And I'm sure they do stand.

[00:44:13]

Of course. No, I don't think they're for human trafficking.

[00:44:17]

Yeah, it's an obvious statement, right?

[00:44:20]

No, like, statement culture. I'm not, like, a huge fan of. And, like, the instances where people actually should speak out, they don't. So it's like, always unnecessary statements. Like, I didn't think the Bella twins were involved in human trafficking.

[00:44:32]

Yeah.

[00:44:33]

Or that it was something that they advocated for.

[00:44:35]

Well, I'm not in their dms or comments, so I don't know how people were calling for this. And so if sending them the link.

[00:44:42]

Being like, yikes, bella twins, really hope you say something.

[00:44:45]

Yeah. Or if they just felt compelled to say something.

[00:44:49]

Yeah. But it's definitely awkward. That's like their mom's boyfriend. Husband.

[00:44:53]

Husband. So, yeah, who knows? And they do a lot of work as, like, podcasters and talking, so I guess in that sense, it would come up at some point.

[00:45:04]

Yeah.

[00:45:06]

But, yeah. Crazy times. Are you ready for our next story?

[00:45:10]

Is it the next story that's brought to you by the new Lionsgate film scrambled?

[00:45:13]

Yes, it is.

[00:45:15]

What a crazy coincidence. Scrambled. A heartfelt yet hilarious journey of self discovery and self love. It's written and directed and starring Leah McKendrick, who is, quote, among Indiewire's top female filmmakers to watch this year. So here's what the movie's about. It's actually, I think, like, a really relatable story, especially for the toasters who might find themselves in a similar life stage. So she's a quintessential eternal bridesmaid. Her name is Nellie Robinson, obviously played by Leah McKendrick. She constantly finds herself between weddings, baby showers, bad dates. So when she begins to feel like the clock is ticking, she is faced with the bleak romantic prospects. Nellie decides to freeze her eggs, setting her on an empowering journey to a brave new world where she ultimately discovers the one she's looking for might just be herself. Film threat says it's brilliant storytelling. You can learn more about the movie. Watch the trailer@lionsgate.com. Slash movies slash scrambled. I thought the trailer was hysterical. It looked so cute. So many familiar faces in the movie, too. I also think a lot of people, this is going to be, like Leah McKendrick's moment. She's going to end up being like a major filmmaker.

[00:46:18]

Movie girly after this movie, because I think that a lot of people are going to, it's going to resonate with a lot of people. It's in theaters on February 2. It is rated r. If you want to learn more, watch the trailer for the scrambled movie starring Leah McKendrick. You can do so@lionsgate.com. Movies scrambled. That's scrambled like eggs. Get it?

[00:46:39]

No, I do get it. And I think that's a really clever title. And seems it's also she scrambled in her personal life. Precisely. And the eggs of it all.

[00:48:12]

Our next story is the first, and I think what will be a series of stories over the next two weeks, which is Super bowl commercial collaboration pair.

[00:48:20]

Oh, how exciting. I love these stories.

[00:48:23]

First one elf Super bowl commercial collaboration pair. And they've teamed up with the cast of suits for their Super bowl commercial.

[00:48:32]

Wait, elf cosmetics.

[00:48:33]

Elf cosmetics. Yeah. Remember last year they did Jennifer Koolid? She was having her big with the sticky.

[00:48:39]

It's a primer. So sticky. And it was like, sticking to everything.

[00:48:41]

Yeah. So this year, the legal drama is going to be part of the Super bowl. Three of its stars are reuniting on the small screen. Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, and Sarah Rafferty appear in the trailer for.

[00:48:55]

So is that Rick Hoffman is obviously Louis lit.

[00:48:58]

Yeah.

[00:48:58]

Sarah is Donna. And who was the first actress?

[00:49:02]

These three people?

[00:49:04]

Jessica. Right?

[00:49:05]

Yeah. Okay.

[00:49:06]

Jessica, Donna, and Lewis.

[00:49:08]

Great. So they're in a trailer for the new Super bowl ad. Also now Super bowl ads have trailers and promos and teasers, which. It's just a whole thing. Okay.

[00:49:18]

It is a lot, but you're paying, like, $8 million for 30 seconds. Like milk that shit.

[00:49:23]

I'm not complaining.

[00:49:24]

I mean, that's 8 million before you even have to pay for production. You have to pay your stars, pay for the sets. It's just to get the commercial.

[00:49:31]

Yeah.

[00:49:31]

I don't know if it's 8 million. I remember a few years ago it was five. So I assume with inflation it's at eight.

[00:49:35]

Yeah. The ad will promote the brand's top selling product of 2023, which is the halo glow liquid filter complexion bluester blister.

[00:49:44]

That's interesting. Elf is such an interesting company because they're probably the best drugstore brand of makeup. Like, they've really cornered the drugstore market, whereas their products are sometimes better than stuff from sephora and ulta, but their whole kind of brand ethos is they steal other things. So the halo glow is a five dollar version of the Charlote Tilbury Hollywood flawless filter, and the packaging looks exactly the same. It's the exact same thing. So it's kind of crazy that they have a commercial and Charlote Tilbury doesn't.

[00:50:13]

Yeah, crazy. And then there's a bunch of other celebs and personalities who are summoned to court and appear in the ad as well. Oh, wow.

[00:50:22]

So they're going all, I mean, I wonder how much money, like, elf makes, because when you think about the brands that do Super bowl commercials. It's the biggest, biggest. It's like the Pepsico companies. Frito lay, it's Dorito, it's soda. And that's why every Amazon, every year, there's like, randomly, like a new brand. Like, remember last year was the farmer's dog?

[00:50:46]

Yeah.

[00:50:46]

And we were like, oh, good for them. Like a toast sponsor getting a Super bowl commercial. There was also Oatley.

[00:50:51]

Yeah.

[00:50:52]

I feel like they, like, just, I read a story about Oatley, like, how all their milk is, like, poisonous or something, or they went bankrupt, something like that.

[00:50:59]

Something like that. But those milks that are not milk, that's like, a real milk could go either way. There's always, like, things that come out. I think, like, silk turned out to be really bad.

[00:51:14]

Did they?

[00:51:15]

Soy milk controversy.

[00:51:19]

I'm not finding. What was the Oatley story. Whatever. Also, just when I was looking, Oatley is now going to be having desserts at Carvell. That's pretty smart, actually.

[00:51:35]

Keep Carvel Carvell dairy free.

[00:51:37]

No, like, it's like an option.

[00:51:39]

Keep Carvel Carvel.

[00:51:42]

Unfortunately, Carvell is a dying brand, so they do need to do, like, annoying modern things. And Oatley is a good collab. Sick, sick. I agree.

[00:51:50]

And that's what's wrong with culture. Culture, like, some things can't remain.

[00:51:56]

Agreed.

[00:51:57]

They are. And I actually think that's a great segue into our fifth and final story, which is a push into the future. And I want to get Certy's take.

[00:52:03]

Okay.

[00:52:04]

Because Elon Musk says that the human patient is recovering well after a neuralink implanted their brain chip. So neuralink is one of Elon's company, where they're working on brain chips, where they implant them into the human, and then they can communicate with human brain.

[00:52:20]

No, it's like you can control a computer with your brain. That's the.

[00:52:23]

Yeah, yeah. So up until now, they had been using, like, pigs and animal testing, but they just did a human patient for the first time. Elon shared on X that the unidentified patient is recovering well after they received the implant on Sunday. He said initial results show promising neuron spike detection. He did not provide any additional information regarding the patient's condition of the procedure. The neuralink is a quarter sized chip implant and has dozens of tiny thread like electrodes. The electrodes are then implanted into the brain itself and rely electrical signals from neurons. The chip is placed in the brain's region that controls the intention to move. So Elon talks about how it would control phones and computers just by thinking. He said initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs. He said, like, imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal.

[00:53:14]

Right. Okay. Well, now, when you put it like that, because I was about to be like, this is fucking weird. This is really some black marrow type shit.

[00:53:21]

Yeah, it's not for me at this moment.

[00:53:25]

Me neither. But when you think about the future, like year 3000, you do think about a world in which your brain can control your phone or whatever, and this is the first step. It's just freaky as fuck. Because this is AI on crack.

[00:53:42]

Yeah.

[00:53:44]

If people think AI is scary, I think this is frightening. But using it as, like, a medical device for people who have lost use of their limbs, that, to me, is way less intimidating and scary.

[00:53:55]

That's always a good example of the positives of technology. I remember those super bowl Microsoft commercials where they would show people using Microsoft technology, people who were handicapped, and how amazing it is. I feel like that's always, like, the pro for technology, and then the con list just keeps going.

[00:54:13]

Yeah.

[00:54:13]

But I remember in Elon's book when he talked about the reasons for Neuralink, I wasn't totally against it, but it's just, like, not for me and not something that I feel like I need to see in the world. But he feels like it's important for the advancement of society.

[00:54:27]

Right. I also think Elon is very particular and sort of conservative when it comes to the advancement of technology. He's all for safe AI. You were saying that. So I do sort of trust his judgment here a little bit. It's not like he's one of these crazy geniuses who will invent anything at any cost, no matter what it tells. He's very, I think, prudent.

[00:54:50]

Yeah, I agree. So I do think he's the right person to be doing something like this, and I do trust him because he is conservative, and he doesn't just want to build robots and machines that are just going to take over the world.

[00:55:00]

For the sake of it.

[00:55:01]

And then that chip could just take over your brain, and you're just like a zombie robot doing whatever chip says.

[00:55:07]

Right.

[00:55:08]

Like, he's probably building chips so that someone else doesn't build it first and create a chip like that.

[00:55:13]

Right.

[00:55:14]

So we have to support as much as we can. I'm just saying maybe the future is not for me. Little old me.

[00:55:20]

I agree. No. Even the way you just said so that somebody else doesn't create a chip that could take over. Are you kidding?

[00:55:27]

No, but that's possible. Chip on chip crime. It's going to happen.

[00:55:30]

It's going to happen. It feels like a lot.

[00:55:34]

Yeah. But these are questions for the elongs of the world to grapple with. And we just read about the headlines.

[00:55:42]

Yeah, this is where it feels kind of great. Like ignorance, like being dumb. It's like, these are not my problems.

[00:55:47]

I know, but I feel like with AI this year, it really crept up on us. Even AI ethical issues we were just talking about last week, like with the Taylor Swift swift photos.

[00:55:57]

Yeah, it's so true. I went from not knowing what AI is to being extremely concerned.

[00:56:02]

Extremely concerned, but also utilizing AI, enjoying some elements of AI. But now we're kind of, like, in this, we're all privy to this debate of, like, how smart should AI be, how intelligent should it be?

[00:56:16]

Yeah. And, like, should there be litigation around AI and laws? And there probably should.

[00:56:21]

But even in the software of it, in the coding of it, that's where the elons come in and they decide before it gets to that point of what AI's limitations should be.

[00:56:32]

Right. Damn. These are big questions we're dealing with here.

[00:56:37]

Big questions. Big, huge.

[00:56:43]

So that's our show. And what's so exciting is the next time you hear from us, it'll be. And, like, we can just kind of breathe the sigh of relief that we're pretty much halfway through the week.

[00:56:49]

We can hump our way through the week. So just keep that in mind.

[00:56:52]
