Good morning, millennials.

[00:00:04]

Welcome back to the toast and happy Monday. Hope everybody had a great, gorgeous, fantabulous weekend. And speaking of fantabulousness and fantabulosity, it is Jacques. Oh, my God.

[00:00:18]

Hi, Cudi. I wasn't expecting that. I just got, like, so excited that I lost my breath and I choked.

[00:00:25]

So are you breathless?

[00:00:26]

For me, breathless? Turdy makes me breathless. But no, I am feeling gorgeous and fantabulous. My weekend was all of those things.

[00:00:34]

That's so good.

[00:00:35]

I'm feeling renewed as we head into the week. This is such an exciting week because Turdy's coming to town soon.

[00:00:42]

It's the week of the Super bowl.

[00:00:43]

It's the week of the Super bowl. The week of the turd. And I'm just kind of prepping my life for my turdy.

[00:00:49]

Oh, my God, you are?

[00:00:51]

Yeah. Like, oh, no, I changed your sheets last week, so we're good on that. But I need to charge your blinds in your room. I just have, like, a running list of things.

[00:00:58]

Yeah, restock my mini fridge.

[00:01:00]

The mini fridge is actually going to come into my room for bottles in the night, if that's okay.

[00:01:05]

Oh, wow. She's being demoted.

[00:01:08]

Yeah. And I just feel like you didn't even need it.

[00:01:11]

No, I didn't need it.

[00:01:12]

I enjoyed it. Did you even use it? It was full.

[00:01:15]

There were sodas in there. No, I fucked it up with some sodas.

[00:01:18]

Okay, maybe I'll have to get another mini fridge then.

[00:01:20]

Yeah, maybe, like, a little bit bigger. The one you got is, like, a skincare fridge. It could fit, like, three cans.

[00:01:24]

Yeah. Why did I get. Oh, I got that fridge just for bottles in the night, just for, like, when I was haka ing just to put it in the fridge next to my bed. It didn't need to be big.

[00:01:32]

So if you are tuning in today, which obviously you are, because the toast is the most important platform on the planet, you might notice we're audio only, and that's because the Turdsville is extremely under the weather. And like you said, it's a big week. She's headed down to Florida. She can't be getting these kids sick. So I'm, like, in recovery mode. I am really sick, and I'm really upset because I'd love to be in studio. You know how it kills me not to get my vertical videos.

[00:01:54]

I know. Especially for a day such as this when there's so much to talk about. I watched the Grammys from start to finish last night.

[00:02:02]

Me too.

[00:02:03]

I enjoyed myself immensely I'm kind of just, like, in my era of enjoying mainstream popular things, I feel like, honestly.

[00:02:13]

You were definitely in your hater era for a really long time. But I feel like.

[00:02:18]

I feel like I've come so full circle from being critical of things that now I'm just like, my expectations are so low for stuff and I can just enjoy it.

[00:02:29]

No, but also, I think everyone would agree, like, the Grammys were particularly fabulous last night in terms of people who showed up. In terms of the performances, Trevor Noah was not like, it was good.

[00:02:40]

It was good. It wasn't even about the star quality because there's always, like, big stars. It just depends on who you prioritize. But just something about it was good. The music was good, the jokes were good. Trevor Noah had me chuckling.

[00:02:55]

Yeah, he was cute.

[00:02:56]

He stayed on topic.

[00:02:58]

Yep.

[00:02:59]

I think it's, like, his third year doing the Grammys. He finally got it right. I don't know who wrote his jokes last night, but they should be hired out for the other award shows. It's like, how do we make a joke about just this award show and make it fun?

[00:03:10]

The Chuckley. It's not like, the best, most amazing jokes I've ever heard in my entire life.

[00:03:13]

Like, chuckle, chuckle, chuckled. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Chuckle, chuckle. Got a chuckle for me.

[00:03:21]

So, of course, today's show is going to be major recap of the Grammys, the fashion, the awards, the performances, the Luke combs of it all, the Taylor swift of it all. So we have a really fun and exciting show. But before we dive in, Jax, tell me about you.

[00:03:34]

About me. So weaning cabbage land is going according to. Actually, the cabbage brought my supply down so much, like, I wasn't ready to be done yet.

[00:03:44]

And I'm looking a little too well.

[00:03:45]

Yeah. And I'm not done. And I was out this weekend, so I didn't do cabbage. I did the Cabbage cream, which definitely helps, but it's not as rapid as the cabage, which is okay, because I could go for still another week of just nursing morning and night and nothing in between. So that kind of took up my weekend. But I also had just, like, it was really nice weather here on Saturday, so we hit the pool. It was just a really fun weekend.

[00:04:08]

I know that everyone does like cabbage. It's like a age old thing, but it's giving homesteading tradwife.

[00:04:15]

I know. And that might be why I love it. Nobody loves it, though, more than Bruno, because every once in a while, I drop a piece or I left a piece on my bedside table.

[00:04:27]

Bruno.

[00:04:27]

And he waits and he's so. I feel like he's like Edward in twilight, being around Bella and not eating her.

[00:04:34]

Love that reference.

[00:04:35]

Is Bruno sleeping with me last night, he was cuddled in my bosom, and I know it took every ounce of willpower for him not to eat mommy's cabbage.

[00:04:44]

Stop. That's, like, so sweet. I forget that you have a dog. Like, how nice for you.

[00:04:47]

I know. But he's going to be our dog in just a week.

[00:04:50]

I know. I can't wait to see him.

[00:04:52]

He's been so amazing. I'm so glad you brought this up.

[00:04:56]

You actually brought it up. But continue.

[00:04:57]

I was co sleeping with Bryson last night as we were watching curb and not chuckling. More on that later.

[00:05:03]

Okay. So me and Ben started curb after the Grammys, but I was like, I got to go to sleep. And it was, like, not keeping me. It was good. Yeah.

[00:05:13]

Especially for a season opener.

[00:05:16]

Right. And they picked up right where they left off at the end of the last season. Love, Maria Sofia, but I'm like, who is this woman living with Larry?

[00:05:24]

Oh, yeah. I didn't counsel. You were going to be, like, chuckling over JG Wentworth.

[00:05:29]

Oh. Like, that was, like, cute. It's like a dumb, funny joke. Yeah. Me and Ben would write, not Larry David.

[00:05:36]

Yeah. I thought it was all, like, really bad and stupid, except Maria Sophia stole the show, as she always does.

[00:05:42]

Okay. I'm obsessed with the Maria Sophia storyline. It's actually so funny.

[00:05:47]

I had forgotten about her. I, like, forgot what the show was about. And then Maria Sophia takes over the world. And I love that for love.

[00:05:56]

And, like, when she did that fake Jimmy Kimmel interview, she was being so funny.

[00:06:00]

No, she's hysterical. She's a star. And I was co sleeping, nestling up with Bruno last night, and I was having a Bruno renaissance moment where I was like, this boy, and he's turning three and a half this month, and it's just. Time flies. It's my eldest, a. He's grown into such a lovely young man.

[00:06:18]

Bruno is turning three and a, you know, half of Theo's life.

[00:06:24]

Yeah, just about.

[00:06:26]

Not even. Actually, Theo was not even seven.

[00:06:29]

Theo was six and a half.

[00:06:32]

Yeah.

[00:06:34]

And when he was stolen from us.

[00:06:37]

When he was murdered.

[00:06:39]

Yeah.

[00:06:40]

So crazy. I can't.

[00:06:42]

King.

[00:06:43]

Rip King. So, yes, I think we should just dive in, because, honestly, I have so.

[00:06:47]

Much to say about the Grammys before we do. How was your influencer weekend?

[00:06:52]

Oh, my God.

[00:06:53]

I haven't even spoken to you. I don't even know how it went. How did it go? Brokering peace amongst the influencers.

[00:06:59]

So I kind of threw myself, like, a little dinner party. Well, not myself.

[00:07:02]

But you called up your favorite influencers.

[00:07:05]

Well, Tinks was in town. She was like, should we get dinner? I'm like, yes, but also, Shannon's in town, so maybe you two could officially meet. I've never even met. And then I was like, let's just get the girlies together. And who does Tinks know? Who should Tink snow? Who would Tink's vibe with? And we had such a good meal at Emilia's Bellato. Like, the best italian food ever. Chicken parm. So good. And the girls just, like, I kind of just sat back and, like, my work come to life, and it was so much fun. We had drinks, we had dinner. We went out for cocktails. After we ran into the spatula.

[00:07:37]

Why didn't she get the invite to the dinner?

[00:07:39]

It was just kind of like an older girl, older sister thing.

[00:07:42]

I totally understand. She's too young.

[00:07:46]

No, she's like my little sister.

[00:07:47]

Yeah, no, and it was for the mature influencers.

[00:07:50]

It was for the older sisters. We're women in our thirty s. I.

[00:07:55]

Hear you loud and clear.

[00:07:56]

But then we walked into.

[00:07:57]

Did she even notice, or was she amphetamine?

[00:08:00]

No, honestly, I haven't spoken to her because I've been so sick. But I meant to call her and be like, that was weird running into you like a regular person. I literally walked into zero bond, and she was right there waiting for the elevator. I was like, oh, man. And then we spent the night together, but I was, like, so weird. We weren't, like, texting.

[00:08:15]

That's so weird.

[00:08:16]

Yeah, it was just kind of, like, with my cool older friends, you know?

[00:08:19]

Yeah, totally. And who was she with?

[00:08:22]

Her younger friends.

[00:08:23]

And did you guys join forces?

[00:08:25]

Yeah, of course. We had a big table.

[00:08:27]

Oh, how fun.

[00:08:28]

And then we ran into some other people we knew, so it was kind of, like a fabulous night to be in New York.

[00:08:32]

Yeah, no, it sounds that way.

[00:08:33]

It was.

[00:08:34]

I'll get the full recap offline.

[00:08:36]

Oh, yeah. And then I woke up so sick, and it's just been, like, downhill ever since.

[00:08:41]

Yeah, well, I'm sure I don't want to sound like the teacher, but please, I'm sure the drinking and the hangover doesn't help the sick.

[00:08:49]

I didn't drink.

[00:08:51]

You looked like classic drunk turdy.

[00:08:54]

No, I didn't drink. I don't drink. Alcohol.

[00:08:56]

I could see in those eyes. I said, that girl is gone.

[00:09:00]

She's gone, girl.

[00:09:00]

She's holding it together. She's going, going, gone.

[00:09:04]

I love that.

[00:09:06]

Yeah, I see you.

[00:09:07]

It was really fun. So good to have my friends who are like sisters in New York with me.

[00:09:14]

But not your sisters who are like friends.

[00:09:17]

No, honestly, you're becoming one of those.

[00:09:19]

People who's like, my friends are my family, Jackie.

[00:09:23]

My friends are my family. Like, stop. But my family are my friends.

[00:09:28]

Of course. Except for.

[00:09:33]

No, no, honestly, I need to call her because it was so regular. Do you know what I mean? Like, walking into an establishment, seeing my flesh and blood, and was like. I was like, what are you doing here?

[00:09:46]

That's really crazy for us who have tabs on each other. We all have each other's locations. We know what everyone and where everyone is at all points of.

[00:09:54]

Yes. Like, Margo, I guess, just, like, had plans that night. I had plans that night. So we didn't contact one another. And then I was like, oh, my God. I just feel like I'm, like, a person who's distant from my know. Totally.

[00:10:07]

It's giving. Distant from your.

[00:10:09]

Like, it's giving, like, Jordan Rogers. No, actually Aaron Rodgers.

[00:10:13]

Like, the two of them just, like, running into each other at a football game.

[00:10:16]

No, seriously. Like, now that we don't talk.

[00:10:19]

Now that we don't talk.

[00:10:21]

So the Super bowl is this weekend. I'm so excited. We're getting already footage and stuff. Everybody's landed in Vegas. It's so exciting.

[00:10:26]

I bought myself a t shirt to wear on Super Bowl Sunday because I was placing an order. I just want to say, shout out. I got a bunch of stuff from Abercrombie delivered this morning. I was trying it on before the show. Everything was a sleigh. They have, like, really cute sports clothes. So I got a 49 ers t shirt to wear for the big game.

[00:10:44]

Oh, I saw that they had released a collection of NFL stuff, and I went to go purchase it, and I thought all the teams had such cute stuff, except, like, the 49 ers. One was kind of ugly.

[00:10:52]

Yeah, that's how I felt, too. But I needed a shirt.

[00:10:55]

I'm going to bring my jersey.

[00:10:56]

Oh, right. You have swag.

[00:10:58]

I have a signed Kyle use check jersey.

[00:11:00]

It says not to brag.

[00:11:02]

It says, from one toaster to another. So I'll probably just wear that. Just, like, chill girl vibes.

[00:11:07]

It's not like Ben's.

[00:11:09]

Ben has one, too.

[00:11:10]

Oh, he wore it twice.

[00:11:11]

Yeah, we have, like, multiple signed jerseys.

[00:11:14]

He didn't write, though. From one good guy to another, it.

[00:11:17]

Was before the good guys. This was like over a year ago.

[00:11:19]

Those were the days.

[00:11:24]

Kind of like one of my favorite toast lore things like having one sided beef with the good guys. They don't even listen. They don't even know. I was trying to explain it to Ben. He's like, we don't care.

[00:11:32]

No, I'm obsessed with us. Like, just having beef with everyone. We have beef with good guys. We have beef with smartless.

[00:11:37]

We do have beef with smartless. Fuck them.

[00:11:39]

Actually, that's kind of where our beef starts. And I feel like everyone else, we have mad respect for, like, we have respect for Tom Segura. We have respect for Tim Dillon. We have respect for Theo Vaughn. We have major respect for Joe Rogan. We're going to talk about that later.

[00:11:50]

Jackie, do we have respect for Tom Segura? Because we didn't really even talk about how we were snubbed. Snubbed beyond. Like, we put Bert and Tom in our fucking title.

[00:12:01]

It just goes to show you, they don't look at the charts. Not that they snubbed us.

[00:12:05]

I don't know what's worse, that we look at the charts so much and it didn't occur to us that other people didn't or that they literally saw it and ignored us. What's worse? I don't know.

[00:12:14]

I don't know either. But I do have respect for them. Until I know that it's an official snubbing, I just feel like the vibes are good. And I love Tom's book.

[00:12:21]

I just feel like.

[00:12:23]

And Burt went on good guys. So technically, like, that's family to us as much as we beef.

[00:12:28]

Yeah, but, Jackie, we're distant from our.

[00:12:30]

Family as much as we beef with good. Like, if someone goes on good, like, they're good with that.

[00:12:36]

Oh, no. And as much as we beef with good guys, I can talk shit about good guys. You can't.

[00:12:42]

What?

[00:12:44]

Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't saying you. I was saying we can. They're our family. We can say what we want. But at the end of the day, it's like blood is thicker than water, bitch.

[00:12:52]

No, but if you come for good guys, we come for your neck.

[00:12:55]

Exactly.

[00:12:56]

But I thought you were taking away my joy.

[00:12:58]

No, please. Talk. Come for good guys all you want.

[00:13:02]

Okay, cool. And also, I feel like if you have beef with someone, you could veto them going on good guys. Right. You have, like, final say if you need.

[00:13:11]

I have veto power.

[00:13:12]

Yes. Have you exercised this power.

[00:13:14]

No. Because one thing about the good guys is, like, they're not going to run things by, like, they just do their thing. And I find out with everybody know.

[00:13:22]

So true. It's better that way.

[00:13:24]

But I guess Ben knows who I hate. So he would be like, he would never have Scott Rigowski on.

[00:13:29]

Right. And it's not like a huge list. It's very small.

[00:13:33]

It's like, really? Scott Rygowski, like, who I would truly stop Ben from having on the podcast.

[00:13:39]

Yeah. No one really in the influencer reality tv space stop him from having on except Scott Rigowski. Yeah, but you're giving him too much credit that he would even get booked. Like, alongside that he would even get the invite.

[00:13:53]

It's so true.

[00:13:55]

Yeah.

[00:13:57]

Okay, let's dive in because we really have a lot of ground to cover today.

[00:13:59]

Yeah. Hold on tight. Like, this is going to be a long one. There's so much to say. So without further ado, here are the fast side stories that you need to know.

[00:14:08]

So our first story is actually brought to you by McDonald's, and we're going to do a big Grammy's fashion recap. It is time for a very special segment where we are going to discuss the best looks on the Grammys red carpet. And this very glamorous segment is brought to you by McDonald's. So, as the lovely toasters know, we recently partnered with McDonald's to talk about their classic burgers, which are hotter, juicier, and tastier than ever. And we are once asking again for justice for the hamburger, because who could blame him for trying to steal a Big Mac? McDonald's patties are cooked to juicy perfection. And the cheese is perfectly melted, pillowy, soft, golden bun. A big Mac that now has more special sauce in every bite. What more could you ask for? In honor of the hamburgler and his very understandable attempts to steal McDonald's hamburgers, today we're going to be talking about which looks stole the red carpet from the Grammys red carpet. Everybody showed up and showed out last night. Run me through some of your favorites.

[00:14:52]

Okay, I'm going to start on a positive because we're extremely positive here. Miley loved. I loved everything about Miley last night. Her energy and her aura and the hair, the dress. She just owned every element of what she was wearing and love. Ten out of 1010s across the board.

[00:15:10]

The dress was a ten out of ten, for sure. The hair was different. Different. Would I wear the hair?

[00:15:15]

No.

[00:15:16]

But does it work for this era? Miley's like, currently in. Yes.

[00:15:20]

It was different. It was giving, like, lionesse mullet. And Miley agreed I wouldn't wear it, but it was flowing.

[00:15:28]

You know who looked amazing? Who did not get to walk the red carpet because there was, like, apparently a crazy rainstorm in LA, was Kelsey ballerini.

[00:15:35]

Yes, always.

[00:15:36]

Which sucks, because she looked so pretty. I loved her dress, and she posted a bunch of pictures on Instagram. Yeah, but we didn't get to see.

[00:15:44]

And her glam was beautiful, but she always. She knows dress.

[00:15:48]

What did you think about Olivia Rodrigo, who wore vintage and who, by the way, was styled by something navy'sister? Do you know that?

[00:15:53]

No, I didn't know that. And I think she looks beautiful. I love a classic look. I love just going for a gorgeous, classic look with a red lip and a hair down and a side part. Like, you can't go wrong with that by me.

[00:16:05]

No, that's very true.

[00:16:06]

Okay, then we also have ice spice, who was giving classic ice spice.

[00:16:10]

She was giving classic ice spice. She looked adorable. Like, definitely different. No one else was wearing something even remotely similar in terms of, like, attire. But I thought she looked super cute.

[00:16:18]

Yeah, she looked really cute. The Grammys is also, like, a red carpet where you're supposed to have fun while also looking nice. I feel like this is a really good example of that. And I think sometimes people play it safe on the red carpet. I like a safe, classic look, but I also like when you go outside of the box and you nail it.

[00:16:33]

One of my best dress was Sophia Ritchie. Like, classic, understated, so, like, beautiful pregnant woman. I thought she looked great.

[00:16:41]

Same. And Christina Aguilera, I love.

[00:16:44]

I agree that blue was gorgeon.

[00:16:46]

Love this color. Love how it's styled. I love her Loki. I love her so much. She's doing a Las Vegas residency right now, and, like, I need to go.

[00:16:55]

We also, speaking of Las Vegas and women in music, need to talk about Kelly, who's stunned in a white gown.

[00:17:02]

The queen was stunned in, as she always does.

[00:17:04]

She brought her son with her. He looked so cute. Kelly looked amazing. I feel like Kelly was just there to have fun. She was just living her best life. She wasn't taking it too seriously. I thought she looked amazing.

[00:17:13]

I agree. And I hope she had all of those things. Another outfit that I loved was Chrissy Teigen. Loved her.

[00:17:22]

Yeah, I think Paris Hilton looked amazing, too. Like, that color. She really kind of like. Paris Hilton always slays.

[00:17:27]

Yeah, always slays. Knows what works for her, doesn't try and reinvent the wheel. And I appreciate that. Oh, I'm looking at this. Ellie Goulding was there. I missed.

[00:17:39]

So funny.

[00:17:39]

But I love her.

[00:17:40]

I was looking also this morning, I didn't even see Ellie Goulding. I thought she looked amazing. But literally only on this red carpet recap link that I was just looking at is the first time I saw her.

[00:17:49]

And that's a shame because when Ellie Goulding is in the building, you pay respect. And they didn't.

[00:17:53]

No, they did not.

[00:17:54]

Not at all. I would love an Ellie Goulding performance.

[00:17:58]

I would love an Ellie Goulding performance, too. I feel like everybody really looked very nice last night. I feel like sometimes these award shows can be, like a little kooky. Like everybody tries so hard to outdo one another. I thought everybody just looked like really glamorous, really pretty. Very glamorous. That's the word.

[00:18:14]

Lovely. They looked lovely. I loved Beyonce's look. Know, it was very.

[00:18:21]

We didn't get red carpet photos of her either, so we really didn't get to see the whole look. But I love her in a cowboy hat.

[00:18:25]

Yeah, I thought it was great.

[00:18:27]

People on Twitter were saying that Beyonce was giving Karen Huger.

[00:18:31]

I do see the comparison.

[00:18:33]

Oh, what did you think about Casey Musgraves?

[00:18:35]

I'm looking at her right now. So there's nothing wrong with it. But I didn't love it.

[00:18:41]

It's plain.

[00:18:42]

Yeah, but she's an elegant queen.

[00:18:45]

She is an elegant queen. And she can't do any wrong.

[00:18:48]

Fizz's dress. And I also love that she put it back on after her performance because that's how much she must have liked it, too.

[00:18:54]

A hundred percent. Like not a thousand outfit changes.

[00:18:57]

Yeah. Usually after people perform, they put on their next outfit, which makes sense. You're not going to put on your previous dress, but if you love your previous dress, keep wearing it.

[00:19:07]

I also just imagine the feeling of being in that dress, any dress, for so many hours and then being done with the award show, taking it off and going to McDonald's. That is probably the best part of the night. Win or lose, the drive through is the best part of the night.

[00:19:19]

100%. Yesterday, Zach dropped me off for a manicure pedicure. And when he picked me up, he had McDonald's waiting for me in the car. And it was just one of those moments where it was, it was one of those moments. Life was good.

[00:19:30]

So thanks so much to McDonald's for sponsoring the special Grammy segment. These are truly McDonald's best classic burgers ever. So try McDonald's best burgers ever at a McDonald's near. I personally, I would say my best dressed if you had to name one.

[00:19:45]

Montana Tucker agreed.

[00:19:48]

Love.

[00:19:50]

She wore a ribbon on her chest saying bring them home as an homage to the hostages that are still in Gaza that everyone has just forgotten about.

[00:19:58]

Forgotten about. I agree. And also the dress was beautiful, too. I actually thought beautiful.

[00:20:02]

Oh, my God, she looked amazing.

[00:20:04]

Yeah, it really was, like, very star studded. I feel like with the Grammys specifically, I feel like so many people don't go. So many artists have, like, beef with the Grammys and we'll talk about that with Jay Z's speech. Drake has been very vocal about his beef with the Grammys. I feel like a lot of times big, big movers and shakers don't all go the same year. And I feel like this particular year, we got a lot.

[00:20:22]

I don't feel like we even got a lot this year, but I feel like got the handful that I personally appreciate and care about. Yeah, I don't feel like it was a hugely star studied year and I actually felt like the weren't. It wasn't the strongest year of nominees ever. Like, nobody swept. I feel like if Adele didn't come out with an album, not Bruno Mars or Beyonce or anyone, just the Taylor Swift Midnight's album, which for some reason I didn't think was going to sweep, maybe because antihero was the song that was up for nomination and I don't think that is even close. That's probably, like the worst song on the album. Imagine if mastermind was nominated. It would have won everything.

[00:20:57]

Agreed. 100%. It was not very competitive, and that's why I didn't think Midnight's was going to win. But when it did, Sizza should have won. Honestly, I really believe that. Just in terms of the album in particular. Yeah, this was Taylor's big year, and the album is amazing and it's not deserving, but really, it was like SZ's year.

[00:21:14]

What's so funny is I listened to Midnight's backwards and forwards is probably my most listened to album, of course, after getting old by Luke Holmes, which was the snub of the century. But no, I loved Midnight so much I couldn't stop listening to it. And yet, weirdly, I still didn't think it was album of the year. I don't know why. I don't know why I have, like, a grudge against midnights.

[00:21:33]

By the way, I don't even have a grudge against midnights. I love midnights. I feel like, with all of Taylor's success this year, it wasn't really even about midnights. That's why I felt like it wasn't going to win because, yes, this is the year of Taylor Swift. Time person of the year, the era story, yada yada. I feel like all of that success kind of has nothing to do with midnights.

[00:21:49]

That is also true. But I feel like I even listen to midnights more than you. I can't explain it. I listen to you do. I love it so much. But it didn't register for me as album of the year until she won. I'm like, oh, duh. I think of all the songs that are on it, and I'm like, how is that not album of the year?

[00:22:04]

I don't think she thought she was going to win either, because she made her big announcement when she won pop vocal, which is not like, the most important Grammy ever. It's not like we would make a big announcement for. But I think she was certain that if she was going to win any, it was just going to be that one.

[00:22:17]

Yeah. Well, let's go through the show.

[00:22:19]

Oh, wait, let's. Also, what did you think about Taylor's outfit?

[00:22:22]

I disliked it. Yeah, I very much disliked it.

[00:22:27]

We have gotten to a point where we've done all that we can do with this particular stylist. I do feel like Taylor needs a new style mood board. She just needs someone to come in and start from scratch. She is literally any designer in the world would die, die, die, die, die, die, die. To work with her. I feel like we were texting and you said this. It's almost like it's harder for her.

[00:22:49]

To look bad with all the resources. She's so beautiful and she's got. She's six foot. Yeah. I don't want to sound like she's got a great figure. She's a beautiful woman. She has the access to all the connections and resources in the world. She actually has to go out of her way to look bad, which it feels like she's doing.

[00:23:11]

No. To me, like, last night's outfit was a huge miss. I feel like most of the time she doesn't really look bad. She just looks so safe, and it's like, come on, we can be doing so much more. I felt like last night's was bad.

[00:23:20]

Last night's was a miss. And the dress itself is a nice looking dress. And I think if she had worn just the dress with a different hairstyle, her glam is always on point because she doesn't really deviate. And I loved her makeup. If she wore just the dress and kept it really simple, I think that would have been really pretty. I didn't like the gloves. I didn't like the hair. I liked the necklaces. I'm fine with.

[00:23:39]

I loved the necklaces. Actually, I did not like the hair.

[00:23:43]

And altogether it was bad.

[00:23:45]

It was.

[00:23:47]

And it feels intentional.

[00:23:50]

Yeah. Maybe it's like an attempt at relatability, honestly.

[00:23:55]

Or just like an attempt at like, oh, you want me to play like the pretty princess? No.

[00:24:00]

Yeah. But she is still a pretty princess wearing a big gown. Do you know what I mean?

[00:24:05]

I do. It was a miss for her speech, her final speech, which was very good.

[00:24:11]

Better.

[00:24:12]

That was good.

[00:24:13]

Okay. Yeah. So let's do run of show between performances, awards, and just like general moments miss.

[00:24:18]

Okay, first let's talk about Trevor Noah as Staten. The jokes were funny. I was chuckling. There was nothing offensive. And he stayed on topic. That's really all you have to do. And that's why when I say, like, I don't feel bad for Joe Coy, it's an easy job, especially if you're a comedian. This is your trade.

[00:24:37]

No. And Trevor Noah, I think, did like a little bit of improv because people kept walking in and I thought those were the funniest parts. That's real talent. I thought he did a very good job.

[00:24:44]

I agree. And you could tell he did improv from when people were walking in and he was writing jokes about that. And I thought that was impressive. And he did good. It's as simple as that, right?

[00:24:55]

The thing with the host is like, we're not supposed to have a ton to say. He's just supposed to sort of get the show from beginning to end us through, and that's it. And I feel like he did a good job. Me and Ben chuckled a few times. It was good.

[00:25:05]

It was good. Then I think the first big award of the night went to Miley for pop vocal song Flowers. I was so happy for her. Obviously, you guys know I've been up and down with Miley through the years, but it's crazy how growing up, she was my everything in this world, and I don't ever forget that. And when I see her, like, a part of me goes back to that place. And seeing her last night thriving and winning, I was so, so happy for her. Yeah, she deserves it. Flowers is an amazing song, but I just loved her energy. I really did. And I was so glad to see her win.

[00:25:38]

Yeah. What I really liked about Miley is I feel like everyone in that room takes themselves so seriously and they're so competitive, and everybody has such a big ego and everyone's just trying to be so cool. And I feel like Miley was there. She's like, yeah, I've never won a Grammy. She was so happy to be there, so excited. Really just didn't give a fuck. And she was so unserious about the whole thing when sometimes it's like, calm down, you guys. It's an award show. I feel like her outlook was really healthy and she looked like she was having so much fun.

[00:26:03]

Nobody was having more fun than Miley. And that's always going to be the person who looks the coolest. I loved her performance. I love the improv. It started off weird when she was like, why are you guys acting like you don't know this song?

[00:26:12]

Oh, my God, Jackie, I. That's Joe Coy. My biggest pet peeve is when people do that. When she stopped in the middle of the performance and was like, acting like, you don't know the song.

[00:26:21]

She didn't stop. And I feel like she likes to do a bit of, like, cabaret talking through her songs. I forgot about it because the rest of the performance was so good, especially when she was like, I just won my first Grammy. And of course, the whole time I'm thinking about, like, liam Hemsworth, this song is about him. This was a low point when she wrote this song. And now she's winning.

[00:26:41]

Yeah. No, it was a triumphant evening.

[00:26:45]

She was so happy and she's so talented and her voice is so good. And I love when she gets to stunt on everyone in the room. It's like, oh, you don't take me seriously, but here I go. Yeah.

[00:26:56]

No, she reminded everyone. She really is such a talented vocalist. And there's like this running joke on social media that the three pop girlies who still don't have Grammys are Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Miley Cyrus. And people were making these hilarious memes being like, miley leaving the room of, like, the. And it's like when she leaves the house in Hannah Montana that she grew up and she's, like, waving. It's so funny. But really, miley's just been one of those girls who hasn't had a Grammy, and she totally deserved it. Every time she was nominated, I knew she was going to win. I didn't think the album should have won, and it didn't. But I think that song was really the song of the year.

[00:27:29]

I also really appreciated Mark Ronson. And Meryl Streep explaining the difference between song of the year and record of the year, which is something I've never understood, but now I get, and I do think song of the year. If it's about the songwriting. Billie Eilish. What was I made for? I was listening. Last night was the first time I heard the song in full. And I was thinking about the lyrics because, by the way, I did watch was, hopefully I'll get to my recap today, but if not, it could wait till tomorrow because we have a lot to talk about today. But I was just in of the lyrics, how it's like a song about finding yourself, but it's also a song about being a doll turning into a human.

[00:28:01]

Okay, wait, I'm sorry. I need to know your thoughts on Barbie. Like, just quick, please.

[00:28:05]

I liked it.

[00:28:06]

I told you you would.

[00:28:08]

There's nothing not to like. Now we could talk about where everyone's gotten wrong with Barbie. And I think people are putting way too much stock into it. And if I do want to go through the messaging of the movie, I think they don't even know what the message was. I think there were so many contradictions and they don't even know what they're trying to say yet. They're saying it so heavy handedly. I'm like, okay, what? It needed to end 25 minutes earlier than it did. It dragged on so much, but I enjoyed it. It just gets a little dicey when it's like, now, this is the movie of the year, the Oscar movie. Like, no, it's not. It was just a fun.

[00:28:44]

Right, right.

[00:28:45]

It was just meant to be fun. Like, everyone's taking a little too seriously when it's just a lovely, light hearted, fun movie about a plastic doll.

[00:28:55]

Yeah. Okay, Joe coy. Oh, a plastic doll with boobies.

[00:29:00]

No, it's Barbie. Like, come on, let's keep it sweet, keep it fun, and keep it moving.

[00:29:06]

No, and for sure. And by the way, and I agree, I think the message was so confusing. Like, I don't even know what the takeaway.

[00:29:11]

Know these other. By the way, people will say, yeah, you didn't get it, Claudia. By the way, I just want you to know there was no cohesive message. It was inherently contradictory, and they didn't know what they wanted to say and they didn't know how to end the fucking movie.

[00:29:24]

But there are these really sweet sort of themes of girlhood and all these things, and that's really sweet. And I think when I saw the movie, I had enjoyed it as well. It's like what the Culture did with the movie ruined it.

[00:29:37]

Yeah. All the discourse about it and just making it something that it's. What was that?

[00:29:43]

Polarizing.

[00:29:44]

Oh, polarizing. But also just like, the intellectualizing. It's not that. It's just a fun movie. And I think also the people involved in it really want it to be taken seriously, too. But it's like, no, it's not that serious. I'm sorry, but I really enjoyed it. And I just want to say I disagree with you in that I think I'm just. Ken was so, like the. I like the beat, and I think it deserves to be nominated. Over dance the night. It was like doing something different. And I hope Ryan Gosling performs at the Oscars, which is still up. No, Mark Ronson said he didn't know.

[00:30:19]

Wait. Also wanted to circle back on something from the show last week. Remember we started that list of random topics that became polarizing. Barbie movie.

[00:30:27]

Yes.

[00:30:28]

And I couldn't remember. It was the Detroit Lions fans. They were like, if you said you were happy that the niners won, it's like you're disgraced. They were being insane.

[00:30:36]

I'll add it to the list, though. Like, NFL is polarizing.

[00:30:41]

No. But this took it to another really unhinged level.

[00:30:44]

Yeah. Okay. It's on the list. No worries.

[00:30:46]

Thank you. Okay, so back to. And then the second performance, and then Dua Lipa opened, which she was good and fine and whatever. Luke Combs.

[00:30:54]

Luke Holmes was so cute. And you know that I've said it's not my favorite song on the album, fast car, because it's not lukey enough for me. And I like Luke songs that sound like Luke songs. But seeing the whole package last night gave me such an appreciation. Tracy Chapman sounded amazing.

[00:31:12]

People were freaking in the audience. Everyone was bugging. They had announced that this performance was going to happen. I feel like nobody knew because it was dark, and then the song started playing, and then the lights came up on Tracy Chapman and people.

[00:31:26]

No, it was. It was so good. It was clearly such a full circle moment for Luke and for her to be performing. This song, know had its time and its Heyday, and now it's having a whole renaissance. I thought it was so awesome, and it really brought so many people together because everybody loves that song, and Luke is, know, the king of country. But now we're all enjoying this moment. There's not one person, I think, on earth who didn't enjoy that.

[00:31:52]

Honestly, I had tears in my eyes. It was, first of all, for Tracy.

[00:31:55]

This collab could unite the world.

[00:31:58]

No, it's so true. And the stats about this collab, like, I was reading today, like, tracy Chapman has a number. She's the first black woman to have a number one country song because she's the sole writer on this song.

[00:32:08]

I was trying to explain these historical stats to Zach, and he was like, no, the song pascar was huge. When it came out. I'm like, no, I know, but it's doing new things and it's doing new.

[00:32:18]

Things to a totally different audience and different genre, different generation. And I thought the performance was so good. I feel like Luke really was trying so hard not to step on her toes, sing with. Like, he just really wanted her to have her moment. It was so amazing. And seeing with every time they panned to the crowd, I was freaking. I was loving watching, seeing other people receive the performance. Like, taylor, like, singing to could, like. It was too much.

[00:32:41]

Yeah, it was too much. Who sang the line about the checkout girl?

[00:32:45]

Luke. When he sang it, I was, like, thinking of you.

[00:32:50]

Interesting choice.

[00:32:52]

I feel like they actually say that line a few times. I feel like they both said it multiple times.

[00:32:56]

They were both the checkout girl.

[00:32:58]

And it's a long song and they let them sing the whole song. It was magical.

[00:33:02]

I like that about the performances, that they weren't rushed. And there were so many performances where I felt like I wanted more. Like, I loved how Miley went into Tina Turner. Maybe she didn't get the memo that fantasia Barina was doing a whole.

[00:33:13]

Was doing it.

[00:33:13]

Yeah, but I mean, I can't get enough of that song. I wanted more. Miley.

[00:33:17]

Yeah. No, Miley. And she was being like a character and she just, like, she had just won her first Grammy. I imagine that was probably, like the most fun she's ever had.

[00:33:24]

And she always has fun. And I also liked in her speech, even though it didn't come off exactly, I think, as how she meant it, which was like, these things don't mean so much. Yeah, it gave a little bit, like a grateful, like, you're not going to be winning again anytime soon now that you've just pissed off Mr. Grammy.

[00:33:40]

Also noteworthy that she thanked everyone in her family except her dad.

[00:33:44]

Yeah, there's drum.

[00:33:45]

There's drum.

[00:33:46]

And she has a new man who has that hair. Who inspired the hair.

[00:33:51]

She has a new man who has that hair. It's so true.

[00:33:55]

What you. It's all I know about them. I was going to say it's all you need to know, but maybe there's other stuff, I don't know, but it's all I know about them. It's a hair.

[00:34:04]

Yeah.

[00:34:04]

His hair, which inspired her hair, which I liked.

[00:34:11]

It's hair.

[00:34:12]

Yeah.

[00:34:13]

There's a lot of voltaire hair. Other performances that I loved. Billy Joel, first of all, I feel like we were saying on the toast how Billy Joel is, like, such a legend in New York, but I feel like the music industry doesn't respect him, so having them make a whole big thing of him coming, I loved. I'm so happy for him. That new song was so cute. I loved that story with the songwriter. Billy Joel was like, I don't want to release music anymore. But then this guy was, like, hounding him to do it. I thought it was so cute. The song was good. And then they also let him perform. He performed twice. He also sang during the credits, which I loved.

[00:34:46]

Yeah, that was a cute thing.

[00:34:49]

Yeah.

[00:34:50]

What other performances? Olivia Rodrigo. Oh, we'll get to Travis Scott.

[00:34:56]

Yeah.

[00:34:57]

Let's continue on the positives.

[00:34:59]

Olivia Rodrigo.

[00:35:00]

I thought she sounded great. You're always so hard on her.

[00:35:03]

I have very, very high expectations for Olivia Rodrigo vocally, and the last two times I've heard her sing vampire, which is a very tough song to sing on SNL, she was really bad. I didn't think so this time. I just thought she could have done better. I just feel like I have very, very high standards for her vocally.

[00:35:21]

You do? Maybe you have higher expectations for her because you're closer to it than me. A little zoomed out. I'm like, this overall is a really beautiful performance, and I think that she totally, what's the word? Holds her own in that room, by the way.

[00:35:39]

She definitely holds her own in that room.

[00:35:40]

Yeah, but it's a tough room.

[00:35:42]

It is a tough room. She was good. She wasn't bad at all. But I think vocally, she. When I say this as someone, of course, with perfect pitch, I just feel like she could have done better.

[00:35:52]

Like, that's damn dirty.

[00:35:53]

Damn, damn dirty.

[00:35:56]

Billie Eilish perfection. I really like that song only because I've been just hearing it now for the first time.

[00:36:03]

Fantasia barino doing the Tina turner obsessed tribute.

[00:36:07]

Obsessed. And I was just thinking of kelly in the room, and they did show kelly towards the end because they're sisters in American Idol. Oh, so American Idol sisters.

[00:36:17]

Also, I read on Twitter that fantasia Barino auditioned for American Idol to that song. So it's a real full circle moment for her.

[00:36:23]

Full circle moment. Also, fantasia Burrino's dancers, they were doing the most. It was like, that was just a performance. That's like a real performance where it's about showmanship. And those are the things that I personally like. I like high energy. I like the costumes. Razzle dazzle. We're having fun. We're keeping it light. That's entertainment.

[00:36:41]

We're having fun.

[00:36:43]

That's entertainment. I like to be entertained, not like morose, untalented things, which we get a lot of. And I didn't feel like that's what was happening last night, which is why I enjoyed last night.

[00:36:55]

I also am just now realizing they didn't really tap Kelly for anything musically. I didn't know Kelly chemistry was nominated as it should be. That album's amazing.

[00:37:05]

It is amazing. But I do feel like Trevor Noah made a really funny joke that was very complimentary towards kelly, which was that if you step out of line at the Grammys, like, we're going to have Kelly Clarkson cover your song better than.

[00:37:17]

You ever love, Love slay. Oh, SZ's performance was fabulous.

[00:37:24]

Yeah.

[00:37:27]

Now, the performance that maybe you didn't.

[00:37:29]

Love, Travis Scott was a disgrace.

[00:37:32]

Yeah.

[00:37:33]

And not even him just being there, which is an aside. I was know. And sometimes the Grammys or award shows, like, I'll see performances of performance that I don't watch their performances all the time. So I'm like, oh, okay. You know what? I get the hype. I thought it was horrible. Could have.

[00:37:49]

The breaking of the chairs.

[00:37:51]

Needed to have a warning for anyone with epilepsy.

[00:37:54]

Epilepsy.

[00:37:55]

The lights. I couldn't even look at my tv. So at a certain point, I didn't even know what he was doing. But it was really horrible on all counts. The music was there. Music. I don't know. The chair.

[00:38:05]

It was bad.

[00:38:06]

Terrible. It was absolutely terrible.

[00:38:09]

Another bad performance that was, like, fake and pre recorded was you two at the sphere. Like, how dumb do they think we are?

[00:38:16]

There's nothing you two won't do for a check.

[00:38:20]

There's nothing you two won't do for a check.

[00:38:24]

Anyone who's doing, like, the satellite performance.

[00:38:27]

So true.

[00:38:28]

At an irrelevant venue or, like, for a sponsor or something. Those people have sold their soul.

[00:38:36]

So true. Yeah. I'm just looking through the list, making sure we didn't miss anyone.

[00:38:43]

Oh, we need to talk about the card, Joni Mitchell. Oh, we do need to talk about. And there's so much more. Sorry. We're not even halfway Mitchell.

[00:38:52]

Like, I'm not a big Joni Mitchell fan, but I understand the importance of her being there, getting a Grammy, and people getting to see her perform live, I'm happy for everybody who that meant a lot to. It personally meant nothing to me.

[00:39:02]

Retweet on that. And I do like the message of respect your elders.

[00:39:07]

Agreed.

[00:39:08]

That's always nice.

[00:39:09]

What were you going to say? We needed to.

[00:39:11]

Carter's. Jay Z's speech.

[00:39:14]

Okay. That was, like, low key funny. Like, he was being funny. He was getting Kanye energy, but I mean that in a complimentary way.

[00:39:21]

Yes.

[00:39:22]

Loved blue ivy on stage.

[00:39:24]

Loved. So poised.

[00:39:26]

It's really crazy. I don't think I ever put together that Beyonce has the most grammys out of any artist and she's never won album of the year. Like, that kind of makes no sense.

[00:39:33]

No, I never put that together. I didn't know who he's talking about. I had to ask.

[00:39:36]

Oh, Jackie texted me. Jackie texting, who is Jay Z talking about that has all those Grammys but never won album of the year? I'm like his literal wife.

[00:39:46]

That's crazy. Who won the year of Lemonade? I don't know. When I think about her albums, I feel like that's the album that should.

[00:39:55]

Have won last year when it was Renaissance. Harry's house won, and I do feel like that should have won lemonade. Beyonce.

[00:40:03]

You feel like what? Should have won Harry's house.

[00:40:05]

Yeah. And then 2016.

[00:40:09]

Oh, Adele, remember Adele said, yeah, that's what I mean. That's a tough, competitive year. And I didn't feel like there was something like that this year.

[00:40:20]

Me neither, by the way.

[00:40:21]

Damn.

[00:40:23]

Yeah. I thought his speech was great. I thought it was funny. It was different and fresh. I feel like it was like a mic drop. They left right after that. Like, bye.

[00:40:31]

Yeah.

[00:40:32]

And I loved seeing Beyonce showing up at a cowboy hat. Yeah.

[00:40:35]

But she was also just giving, like, I'm here to support my wife, my husband, who's accepting an award.

[00:40:41]

Yeah. Which I feel like every time they leave their house, it's for Beyonce. So it was nice. Like, Jay Z had a moment.

[00:40:47]

Yeah. And she could just be a supportive wife.

[00:40:50]

Just be know.

[00:40:51]

Yeah. What else was there? The CEO of the Grammys made a nice speech about the Nova music festival, which was just nice to take a. Was, you know, a little vague.

[00:41:10]

It was bare minimum. He didn't say the word Israeli, but okay.

[00:41:13]

Or jewish, but it was better than nothing.

[00:41:15]

Oh, and Miss Annie Lennox, who's literally now my arch nemesis. Like, I never thought much about Annie Lennox, but now I wake up every morning thinking about how I can destroy her singing. The immemorium. And she really sang just awfully, like, really, really poorly. And I think that was disrespectful to the dead and all the friends and family of those we lost this year. So as if that wasn't offensive enough, she then took an opportunity to shout like, an offensive political statement during an immemorium. That's literally not even about her. After disgracing everyone with her vocals, she's on my list.

[00:41:47]

I don't really know this woman. I was showering and I missed it. And then I didn't go back once I heard what she said because that's just upsetting, and I was enjoying my evening.

[00:41:56]

Yeah. And she also just said it in a really weird way.

[00:41:59]

Like, vocally, she seems like a weirdo.

[00:42:02]

She said, like, artists for ceasefire, which makes no fucking sense, but I can't get into that. But she said it like, this artist physic. She said it in a really story. Briefly, we were cracking cease artist physique. She was literally sounded so weird. She's a freak.

[00:42:26]

Yeah.

[00:42:28]

So that almost ruined the night for me. But other than that, it actually really was a fabulous Grammys event. I feel like everybody who put the show on should be really proud of themselves. It was good stuff.

[00:42:36]

It was good, it was positive, and it was entertaining, and that's what I'm looking for.

[00:42:40]

We do need to talk about one thing. Okay. It's really crazy how in recent years, the e network has so fumbled the ball. They had one thing going for them. They couldn't come up with an original show. They got the Kardashians. It was, like, the best thing. But they were always, like the pop culture network. They always had the best red carpets. They always had the best correspondence. They always had the best journalists. And e news. They canceled E. News. I don't know why. Now they're, like, bringing it back. But we really need to talk about Laverne Cox.

[00:43:09]

Okay. So e red carpet was, like, during bedtime, and I missed, really, the whole thing. I saw one Laverne Cox interview with Rex and, like, that was it.

[00:43:17]

And they were singing opera.

[00:43:19]

Yeah, but that was kind of like Bb did that.

[00:43:22]

Yeah. No, but I'm just saying overall, like, laverne Cox is not a journalist.

[00:43:25]

And then she was asking for a.

[00:43:26]

Makeup campaign, and she is, like, the official. She's like the Juliana now. She's like the big one, the one the Ryan. And I just feel like, no, Kelty is over there. They put her in the glam bot. Kelty is literally like, a 20 year veteran of entertainment journalism. Like, let her interview someone. Yeah, Heather McMahon did a great job, but, like, laverne, she's really, like, this is not her skill set.

[00:43:52]

Yeah. She's like, we're so many people who actually. Not so many people, because it is a hard job, but there are a lot of people who could get the job done. I feel like after every award show, the reviews are not kind towards.

[00:44:12]

They tried, but it's her time.

[00:44:15]

Yeah, they have people. Yeah, they have. Kelty. Justin would do a great job. Heather. I saw one interview that Heather did with someone who I didn't know, and I felt like she kept the energy really high, considering she was hysterical.

[00:44:27]

Connie.

[00:44:28]

Rad. Yeah.

[00:44:30]

There was a time where they employed many, many journalists, and now it's like, they host, they bring people in house, and they train them a little bit, but this Laverne thing is just not working out. Like, it's really not.

[00:44:41]

Yeah. And she's the main.

[00:44:43]

Like, she's the one now.

[00:44:45]

That's so weird.

[00:44:46]

It's so weird.

[00:44:49]

Well, okay, I guess I didn't miss anything there.

[00:44:51]

I'm sure there are things from the Grammys that we might be missing, but we'll trickle in. Oh, I'm sorry. Taylor's album, or is that a story?

[00:44:57]

That's a story.

[00:44:58]

Okay, so I'll wait.

[00:44:59]

Also, Celine Dion arrived to present album of the year, and that was very exciting for everyone because she's been going through it.

[00:45:10]

By the way, the gays. The gays are really mad at Taylor Swift. Like, seriously, they're pitchforking. Like, they're mad.

[00:45:17]

Yeah, because she didn't acknowledge Celine when she accepted her award. But there was a lot going on.

[00:45:21]

Of course there was a lot going on. And also, we know a lot of things about Taylor. And what do we know? She's, like, the most excited, overly friendly. Like, she's not a. Yeah, like, please.

[00:45:33]

Lizo was there, which I thought was kind of bananas.

[00:45:38]

Why did you think it was kind of bananas? Just because she's, like, low key, like, being sued for sexual assault.

[00:45:43]

The bananas allegations.

[00:45:44]

Oh, the bananas. The bananas. Yeah. No, she's moving on. One thing about Lizzo is, like, you want to cancel her. She refuses to be brought down. And I do respect that sort of response in light of a scandal. I really do. But it was definitely brave.

[00:46:01]

Right. But it's not even about her choice of, I'm not going to be staying down. They invited her.

[00:46:09]

Yeah, no, she presented to Sia Scissa. Oh, my gosh. Sorry. She is producing. Wait, I just heard Sia is producing a new album for someone funny. Hold on. Wait, I just read this on Twitter. Oh, Sia. I mean, oh, my God, I'm having a stroke. Paris Hilton. Love that.

[00:46:41]

Collab of the century.

[00:46:43]

Collab of the century.

[00:46:45]

Okay, great. Well, I feel like we covered pretty much everything, but if there's anything that Elsa comes up, we'll pop back into.

[00:46:51]

The Grammys, and I think we can dive into the next story.

[00:46:54]

You're welcome.

[00:50:56]

Next up, last night, Taylor Swift announced her new studio album called the Tortured Poets department. She announced it during her acceptance speech for pop vocal album, and it comes out on April 19. She said that she has been working on this for two years and she was excited to announce it to the world.

[00:51:18]

No, I mean, we're excited too. A lot of people thought she was going to be announcing reputation. Her outfit was giving reputation. She changed her profile picture last night, black and white, which is very esthetically reputation. So we were all just kind of waiting for that. I was not expecting this. I forgot that we could get new music from her. I feel like we've been so well fed from Taylor recently between public appearances, the tour performances, things like that. So I forgot that we also will be getting new music.

[00:51:42]

And it's been a year and a half since Midnight's came out. It's not folklore evermore vibe.

[00:51:47]

No. And it's an appropriate amount of time that she made us wait. But I just wasn't expecting it. We sat on the toast literally Friday, how desperately we need music about Travis just needing the smallest window insight into what's been like. And her saying that this album is two years old. Like kill me.

[00:52:05]

Yeah. And it's tortured poets. So that's not like varsity fanfare.

[00:52:10]

No, it's giving Joe Allen like, esthetically.

[00:52:13]

Yeah. And he apparently has a group chat with Paul Mezcal normal people about. And it's called the tortured men's club. The tortured men's club. So people think this is kind of a riff on that. I don't think it's going to be a whole album. Joe Alwyn dish tracks. Because I think she's so far past that and I think it could be poetry about a lot of different, you know, something that she's been working on in the last six months. And I feel like in the last two months where she hasn't been on tour, she's probably been working on new music a lot and kind of like tinkering things. I feel like there will be Travis messaging on this album, but it won't be the whole album. That's what I think.

[00:52:53]

Right. It's not like lover, Travis version. That's what I need desperately.

[00:52:57]

Yeah.

[00:52:58]

And it's not. I'm so excited. Also, just like esthetically, this definitely feels a little bit more folklore evermore than it does lover 1989. And I just feel like recently I've really been in my emo tail. I love alt Taylor.

[00:53:13]

Yeah.

[00:53:13]

And I feel like that's what we're.

[00:53:14]

Getting poems, which typically have a slower vibe. And the COVID is kind of, like, sultry.

[00:53:21]

It's very sexy.

[00:53:22]

Yeah, I think it's going to slow down, not going to be bop central in the classic sense.

[00:53:30]

We did say that Taylor's upcoming esthetic is definitely going to be, like, a little bit more sexy, sultry smut. And I think this proves that we were right. It's like a very sexy photo.

[00:53:43]

You know, what's kind of giving. I feel like you're not going to see what I'm saying, but if I had to think of a direction and a sound almost with the pictures and what we've seen, kind of like Ariana Grande in terms of the breathy vocals.

[00:54:00]

Sexy vibes, you just reminded me of something. Best new artists last night going to Victoria Monet. A lot of people were hoping that it was going to be Noah Con and they were, like, really mad because it was like the year of Noah Con for sure. But I love someone getting their, like, honestly, not enough people know about Victoria Monet. She's literally like a Michaels. Like, julia Michaels literally wrote songs for other people, sang for other people, did everything for other people, and then finally had her moment. And I feel like that's happening with Victoria Monet. And I'm actually really happy for her, so I'm okay with it.

[00:54:28]

Who did she sing for?

[00:54:30]

She didn't sing for, but she really.

[00:54:32]

Like, who did she write?

[00:54:33]

Ariana Grande. Like, during those few years where Ari was doing the most, that was really, like, a lot of it was Victoria Monet.

[00:54:39]

And Ari was posting.

[00:54:40]

So happy for you. Yeah. A lot of Ari's success has to do with her collaboration with Victoria Monet. So it's nice to see someone, like, having their own moment.

[00:54:48]

That is nice.

[00:54:49]

And that's what she was saying in her speech. She's like, I've been in this industry for 15 years and she's so young. I was like, how old is this person, Claudia?

[00:54:55]

I was thinking the same thing. She looks so young. I didn't know that she had all these years under her belt as being, like, a behind the scenes person. I didn't know any of this. So thank you for sharing.

[00:55:05]

Yeah, I'm happy for her. And I need everyone being like, no, I can't calm down.

[00:55:10]

Yeah, he'll be fine.

[00:55:12]

He is fine.

[00:55:13]

He's fine. It's just like a nice award to win.

[00:55:17]

Yeah.

[00:55:18]

And she was so excited. It was a really nice speech.

[00:55:20]

It was also a stacked category, like jelly roll, nelacon, ice it was competitive.

[00:55:29]

Yeah. Sorry. Back to Taylor. So what do you think about my call? That's, like, a little Ari feeling.

[00:55:38]

I don't like the call.

[00:55:39]

I know you don't like it, but do you?

[00:55:41]

Like. I'm saying, if that's the reality, I don't like that. Not that it's a bad.

[00:55:48]

Oh, okay. You're just in your Ari hater area, which is fine.

[00:55:52]

I don't think that I am.

[00:55:53]

She just posted a picture today that I really liked, so now I'm, like, forgetting about.

[00:55:59]

Okay, okay. I get it.

[00:56:02]

And she's really doing the most for her new album coming out, and she's, like, feeding the people, and I'm starting to fall for it a little bit. I'm kind of just, like, a mainstream Josie and the pussycat. Brainwashed, can't think for myself. Pop cog in the machine consumer.

[00:56:20]

Yeah.

[00:56:20]

1000% I am today.

[00:56:22]

I love that. Next iteration for you.

[00:56:26]

Yeah. Just tired of reading too much into stuff. Inject my beliefs into my veins.

[00:56:33]

Just enjoy.

[00:56:35]

I'm just along for the people.

[00:56:37]

Yeah.

[00:56:39]

Who else should I like then?

[00:56:42]

Oh, like industry plant energy.

[00:56:43]

Yeah.

[00:56:45]

A lot of people were saying Lainey Wilson is an industry plant. She won again last night, which Loki was crazy. I also think that the nominees for best country album were bad. So I don't know how you can nominate the best country albums and not include Luke Holmes or Morgan Wallen, who literally sold, like, a million copies of their. It's just insane.

[00:57:04]

It's insane. And it didn't matter who won because the real people weren't.

[00:57:09]

Yeah.

[00:57:09]

How Luke wasn't. I mean, Morgan Wallen, too, but, like, the way you guys know how I feel about Luke's album. Like, what?

[00:57:17]

No question mark.

[00:57:19]

Where are you?

[00:57:20]

No.

[00:57:20]

And it's like, I hope they felt dumb after last night when it's like Luke stole the show. Luke represented country music. Everybody loves Luke.

[00:57:28]

Everybody loves Luke.

[00:57:30]

And he was so gracious, even though he was so thoroughly snubbed on every count.

[00:57:35]

So true.

[00:57:36]

But that's a gracious king that he still came and supported their little show.

[00:57:41]

That's my gracious king right there.

[00:57:45]

That's my gracious king right there. Okay, so tortured poets department, April 19.

[00:57:51]

We'll get, like, a single or something. April 19, an important day and toast her straight.

[00:57:55]

She has got to stop making the lead single the worst song on the album. It's got to stop. Antihero being representative of midnight's is a travesty.

[00:58:09]

When you hear the bridge to dear reader, it's insane. I completely agree. But that's Taylor's formula. It's worked for her for many, many years. That's what she does always. We are never getting back together. I knew you were trouble. The worst, most corny pop songs always are her lead singles because they get played on the radio. It's the formula of the music industry. Like, there's a reason why she does it, but it's annoying as fuck.

[00:58:29]

There's no reason why mastermind couldn't have been that song.

[00:58:33]

No, I think there is a reason.

[00:58:35]

Let me present a couple others quickly, if I may.

[00:58:39]

I mean, you're on your own, kid.

[00:58:42]

Yeah.

[00:58:44]

So many songs from midnight's could have.

[00:58:45]

Been the least question.

[00:58:47]

No.

[00:58:50]

I guess a lot of the ones I like are sad. Oh.

[00:58:53]

What did you think about Taylor Swift? Like, making Lana Del Rey come up on stage with her to accept her award?

[00:58:58]

It was weird.

[00:58:59]

Yeah. Because I didn't real. Like, Lana was nominated in that category. So she just lost.

[00:59:04]

She had just lost. It's giving. Like, I can't go anywhere without my best know.

[00:59:09]

Yeah, but she was on stage already with Jack and Claire. Like, all the girlies.

[00:59:13]

Yeah. Who was that woman? Claire.

[00:59:15]

That's like her audio girly. And she has been working together with her for a while. Like, if you look at when she won folklore, she was on stage with her, too.

[00:59:21]

Okay.

[00:59:22]

She's like a sound mixer engineer, something like.

[00:59:28]

I guess. But Lana Del Rey, don't forget, is on.

[00:59:32]

You know, she's a collaborator, so there's a tie in. But you could tell she didn't want to go.

[00:59:37]

Yeah, but was it because she had lost her? Because she didn't want to make like Taylor, she was not being like, hey, look at me. Because she doesn't seem very. Hey, look at me.

[00:59:44]

No, not at all.

[00:59:46]

Yeah. I don't know.

[00:59:49]

Yeah, it was interesting.

[00:59:51]

Okay, well, that's now our final Grammy. Any other thoughts on tailored?

[00:59:56]

No, but if I do, I'll share them throughout the week.

[00:59:59]

Are you ready for our next story?

[01:00:02]

Yeah.

[01:00:02]

Going back to one of our favorite subjects, I just feel like we're like, in the words of the kids, like, we ate today with these stories. Because this could be a whole another episode.

[01:00:11]

She said, we ate today with these stories.

[01:00:14]

We're eating good. Okay, sorry. I'm not going to read this propaganda headline. Joe Rogan signs a new deal with Spotify for reported 250.

[01:00:26]

What was the headline? Controversial, controversial podcast host Joe Rogan.

[01:00:30]

I'm sorry. Like, biggest motherfucking podcast in the world. Joe Rogan signs another deal with Spotify for reported up to $250,000,000. This is also crazy because it's not an exclusive to Spotify deal. The show will be distributed everywhere. So they're just like paying for the pleasure of hosting him.

[01:00:48]

Yeah, that's really crazy. Well, it's actually not crazy that they renegotiated his contract. I think it was a very good investment for them many years ago. What, a hundred million dollars to Spotify is not a lot of money. And them renewing his contract isn't crazy. The amount is really crazy. But also the amount, while also he's going to be able to put some of his videos on YouTube. You're going to be able to listen to the podcast, like on other platforms. That's really crazy.

[01:01:13]

Yeah. Also it's crazy in light of the fact that Spotify has wound down their podcast department and the messaging has sort of been like, we are channeling our efforts elsewhere. But for Joe Rogan, obviously his investment was such a success that they're like tripling it and giving him more freedom. Oh, and this is in light of all the controversy surrounding Joe Rogan, where at a time it was like, is Spotify going to drop him? Artists, all the employees. The employees, the artists who left the platform. And it's like, oh, no, he's making us so much money that we don't even care about all of that. And guess what? We're going to do it again.

[01:01:54]

No, but also like, situations like net net are good for a podcast. It's like press is good press. People are going to tune in. What's everyone crying about?

[01:02:03]

Yeah, especially good for a podcast like Joe Rogan, where it is his brand to not really know. It's not like he's a press darling. It's like, oh, I'm getting bad press. Sorry.

[01:02:13]

Yeah, no, it's very renegade energy.

[01:02:17]

Right. But no, this is just like the proof is in the pudding sort of thing because everybody can have all their opinions and write all their open letters, but at the end of the day, he's making bank for them.

[01:02:30]

So crazy. $250,000,000. This is the biggest podcast contract.

[01:02:36]

Yes. And we don't even know that. First of all, this is one of those that is reported. And I do feel like with the 100 million dollar contract last time, it wasn't the full story. I think he was. You think it was more than that? Yeah. And it was like, who was selling his ads? Who's making the ad money? Does he get 250,000,000 just to have Spotify on the name of his show, but he also makes his ad revenue. And Spotify is just selling his ads.

[01:03:02]

No, they keep the ad revenue.

[01:03:03]

No, I don't think they do, Claudia.

[01:03:05]

I think they do.

[01:03:07]

We don't know for sure, but my guess is that they don't. And your guess is that they do?

[01:03:10]

Oh, my guess is that they 100% do.

[01:03:12]

My guess is that it's a rev share.

[01:03:15]

No, they're paying for the privilege of your show and all that comes with it. That's what I really think.

[01:03:23]

But the deal just got even looser than the last.

[01:03:27]

Well, this one, I don't know. Yeah, this deal is like nuts.

[01:03:30]

Yeah, this deal is like Joe Rogan. Please, just, like, say the name Spotify once and we'll give you millions.

[01:03:36]

Yeah, literally. It's just very interesting to get paid such a hefty sum and not have your show be exclusive on Spotify. Yeah, that's really crazy.

[01:03:44]

So he'll be back on the charts slugging it with the rest of us.

[01:03:47]

Fuck.

[01:03:48]

It was fun being number one and two for a while.

[01:03:50]

It was fun. Joe. Fuck between.

[01:03:53]

I guess we'll go back to be number three big time. But it's also, he puts out so many episodes, so he just, like, congests the whole top ten, by the way.

[01:04:01]

So do we. That's what people think about us. Like, we're all over the charts because we have so many episodes. Okay.

[01:04:06]

I love that for us.

[01:04:06]

We're kind of like the Joe Rogan of pop culture.

[01:04:11]

Yeah, totally.

[01:04:13]

Totally. I'm happy for him. The fact that money is still being spent on podcasts. Lowen is so great for the industry, great for the medium, happy for him.

[01:04:23]

Know that I am.

[01:04:23]

Wish it was me. Happy for you.

[01:04:26]

Yeah. And he's great for the industry. He is the industry.

[01:04:29]

It's true.

[01:04:30]

But no, I think he sets great precedent and he doesn't back down. And you know what? And he still gets paid.

[01:04:35]

True.

[01:04:36]

The proof is in the pudding. And if people listen to your show, they're going to pay you. So I think it's all good.

[01:04:44]

Me too.

[01:04:45]

Are you ready for our fifth and final story? Switching gears, I am. Candy Burris exits real houses of Atlanta after 14 seasons, saying, I'm not coming back this year.

[01:04:55]

Long time, end of an era type shit.

[01:04:58]

Yeah. The longtime real House eyes of Atlanta star revealed at the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday that she's exiting the Bravo reality show after 14 consecutive seasons. I decided I'm not coming back this year. She told Variety on the red carpet, it's been 14 seasons and they allowed us to sit around for a little too long. But during that time, I had started working on a lot of other things, and I've got some nice big projects coming soon, so I'm super excited about those things.

[01:05:21]

I mean, crazy. First of all, she's so oG. Her announcement was so low key. Like, no statement, no press release, just like, on the red carpet being asked. And she's like, yeah, I'm not coming back. Very low key. Not shocking. The franchise has fallen off.

[01:05:38]

Yeah.

[01:05:40]

And she's. When I think of the last remaining, like, sheree has coming, gone. Marla wasn't full time. Nene left, so she's definitely, I think, one of the last. It's time. It's the end of an era, but, like, it's sad.

[01:05:52]

But she wasn't on season one.

[01:05:54]

She wasn't?

[01:05:55]

No. I don't remember her being on season one. Candy Burris.

[01:06:02]

Really? No, never mind. I consider her like a.

[01:06:05]

She is like an OG, but is she not?

[01:06:11]

What season did. Oh, she joined in the second season. Okay, I'm sorry. Like, that's an OG.

[01:06:15]

Yeah. No, it's an OG in colloquially.

[01:06:19]

Yeah. And I just consider her. She's like a backbone of that franchise. But the franchise has fallen off. They need, like, a big restructure, like they did with New York. But I don't know if that necessarily even worked out. So it is her time, and I feel like she'll continue to do, like, girls trip because she just did a girls trip that people love.

[01:06:39]

That's her show on the network. Right?

[01:06:42]

Which one?

[01:06:44]

Candies.

[01:06:46]

She has had, like, a bunch of spinoffs. I don't know if she currently has any. She had, like, a wedding special. She had one with her band escape.

[01:06:53]

I thought she had one with her family.

[01:06:55]

She did. She did. I don't know if it's still on.

[01:06:59]

Got it. Okay. Yeah, she has a lot. Candy and the gang.

[01:07:05]

She had, like, the old lady gang with her mom. She has a lot going on. I'm not worried about her business wise.

[01:07:12]

Candy ski trip.

[01:07:14]

Yeah. She's had like a million.

[01:07:16]

Wait, I have to watch that spin offs?

[01:07:18]

Yeah.

[01:07:19]

That's hysterical.

[01:07:21]

End of an era.

[01:07:23]
