Remember we were talking about the Blindside? Yeah. Came out with a documentary. Guess what it's called?

[00:00:06]

It's not Blindsided.

[00:00:07]

Blindsided.

[00:00:08]

It's coming out soon. I saw the poster for you. You got to be kidding me. Mariah is going to freak. No way. Blindsided.

[00:00:17]

Hold on.

[00:00:17]

That's.

[00:00:18]

Pretty crazy. Blindsided. Look at that, Mariah. You did something.

[00:00:22]

Obviously, this was inevitable, but I'd like to think they caught the.

[00:00:25]

Idea from us. Yeah, you think they watch you? Yeah. The big Mariah stands, big Mariah and mom stands.

[00:00:30]

Yeah, they're.

[00:00:31]

All over me. I love the poster. It's great.

[00:00:33]

Everything looks good about it. I wonder if they're going to interview the family in it. Do you think they're going.

[00:00:37]

To see? I don't know. They have to. If you're going to make a documentary, you have to get the family. A lot.

[00:00:42]

Of times they don't want to because they know it's going to be.

[00:00:45]

Like-they're already rich, though. Most of the.

[00:00:47]

Times when they get the-Sorry, I thought you were talking about the or family. Just him and his side.

[00:00:52]

Oh, Michael. Michael, yeah. Yeah, I don't know if they're going to get the family. I bet their.

[00:00:56]

Lawyers will be like, no. Oh, you mean the Y family? Yeah, they need it. They need to be it. Ever since that documentary, that football documentary with a fake.

[00:01:04]

Team- Oh, B. E.

[00:01:04]

S. High? -ever since that documentary, I'm just like, They need to get the villain in every single doc or I don't want to watch it anymore. Oh, yeah. It just made the.

[00:01:13]

Entire thing. Have you heard about the new one on Max right now about the cult?

[00:01:18]

What's it called?

[00:01:19]

It's called One Mother, Mother of Love, something. It all happened in the past three years, some crazy cult. This woman thought she was God, that she was the divine truth and created a whole following and shit goes down.

[00:01:34]

Imagine trying to convince somebody.

[00:01:37]

That you're God.

[00:01:38]

That you are the Messiah.

[00:01:40]

A lot of people.

[00:01:41]

Do that. But they pray. The thing is, you just go out and you seek on praying just damaged people, people who are already broken, people who need finances, people who don't have family anymore. When you get those.

[00:01:51]

People-a lot of serial killers are people that commit crimes. Yes, that's true. Their excuses that they were told to do it and they were like, I'm the chosen one. I was told to.

[00:02:02]

Wow. Great excuse, huh?

[00:02:04]

Yeah.

[00:02:05]

Oh, God told me.

[00:02:07]

What are you going.

[00:02:08]

To do? I already watched the first episode. People are going out maxing out their entire bank accounts. Their 401(k)s, everything. Bringing them to the cult house saying, I finally have found the divine creator of all and just commit their whole lives.

[00:02:23]

To this thing. Cults are so fascinating to me.

[00:02:26]

It's insane. It's crazy how it still happens today and everybody still falls for it and everybody still takes advantage of it.

[00:02:35]

I'm just so worried about losing. You could one day lose your son or your daughter to a cult. That would be the most... That's the saddest thing is that this person who you're once so close with in your life, they think that they've broken the matrix and you are...

[00:02:49]

Who?

[00:02:49]

Because you don't understand. I know someone who lost their sister.

[00:02:52]

Oh, yeah. Really? Like lost their lives or lost connection. No, she's in a cult. Oh, man.

[00:02:56]

Yeah, she's out here. It's really sad. They were so, so close.

[00:03:01]

The cult is out here.

[00:03:03]

I love seeing people trying to, there are certain YouTubers and certain... I want to see in a good way, but just trying to infiltrate it and just fake it just to get in there and just start.

[00:03:14]

Secretly filming. If I was in a cult, I could spot an infiltrator like that. I'd be like, Why are you wearing those funny, Clark Kent-looking glasses? What are you doing? No, I'm just here. Where's the.

[00:03:25]

Say on it? No, I want to see someone really good that's like, is a spy, that can act it out and is just -Who.

[00:03:35]

Would be a leader, though, that you might fall for? You know what I mean? Obviously, you'd be like, Yeah, I would never join a cult, but who is somebody you'd.

[00:03:43]

-britney.

[00:03:44]

Broski. Ms. Juicy, baby.

[00:03:45]

Ms. Juicy? Ms. Juicy, yeah. If she could have the organization, Brittany Broski, though, if she started like... I could get convinced.

[00:03:52]

She would be so convinced. It's funny that you say Brittany, bro. I feel like she actually could. I think she has that fan base where she could really start one.

[00:04:01]

And it would-She would laugh her way through all the awkwardness and everything. And he'd be like, I'm not in anything weird.

[00:04:06]

Right, Brittany? Because she holds a lot of power. She really does.

[00:04:10]

Bro-ski Nation, baby. And she could even be honest like, Yeah, it's a cult. And they'd be like, Ha-ha! Shes the chief funny?

[00:04:16]

I'm trying to think of somebody who I don't know, but a celebrity who could get under my skin. Jared Letto, people say 30 seconds to Mars, he's created this weird cult fan base where he'll have... He's not booking out Madison Square Garden for 30 seconds to March. No, you have to buy this own mini Coachella spiritual retreat package and go out into the woods.

[00:04:40]

Wait a second, that sounds fun.

[00:04:42]

This is how it starts, Zane. Wait, can you.

[00:04:45]

Sign up? Wait, you get.

[00:04:46]

Artist pass for that? Maybe. I would like to go check it out.

[00:04:49]

Do a little seek problem.

[00:04:50]

I'll do it. I just want a Jim Carey tell-all.

[00:04:53]

Yeah.

[00:04:54]

I just.

[00:04:55]

Want him to go for it.

[00:04:56]

He's not going to do it now. He might do it when he's very, very close to his end. Or on his deathbed. Yeah. Yeah, I just want to.

[00:05:03]

Hear it. I can't wait for, especially in today's world with social media, deathbed confessions of A-list celebrities.

[00:05:11]

Like a whole series? Yes. Just imagine a whole 30-episode series of big, respectable celebrities. All just like, you know what?

[00:05:20]

Fuck it. We're coming clean.

[00:05:22]

I'm coming clean. I'm going to do one big banger before my ride out.

[00:05:26]

It's going to be insane. They're going to.

[00:05:28]

Do it. But they also don't want to hurt anybody under them, too. Well, that's the thing. I would hate to.

[00:05:32]

Put my kid's lives in. I feel like the reason they stay silent and don't come out and say anything is because they go, You do this, we're going to kill your family and everybody you know. Yeah.

[00:05:42]

It's a little iffy, but yeah.

[00:05:43]

Would you take one for the greater good?

[00:05:47]

Man. Sorry, I thought you were about to do some punny way to roll.

[00:05:51]

The intro. Oh, no, that question hit me. If they're saying your whole family is going to die, but you will save millions of people and expose the darkest, most.

[00:06:00]

Hate-s-saves millions of people. This is.

[00:06:03]

Like a knock at the cabin. I think this is a.

[00:06:05]

Similar-yeah.

[00:06:06]

Knock at the cabin.

[00:06:07]

No, that movie was trash.

[00:06:10]

I didn't even.

[00:06:11]

Finish it. No, what's that movie called?

[00:06:12]

It was a knock at the cabin. The M. Night Shyamalan one where you have little Ron Weasley showing up to the house and they go, One of you has to choose which one has.

[00:06:20]

To die. That movie could have been really good. I think they just.

[00:06:23]

Completely did that. Is there a twist?

[00:06:25]

It's a twist, but it's not a twist. It's an eyeroll, like you're watching like...

[00:06:29]

I don't know. All right, and then that note, let's run the intro.

[00:06:32]

Let's roll the intro, baby. Let's roll the intro, baby.

[00:06:35]

It's Coffee Towel, baby. Let's go.

[00:06:48]

You.

[00:06:48]

All right? You just broke.

[00:06:50]

Your toe. Yeah, I was trying to do a kick and I hit the table. Hi, how are you doing? Welcome back to Zane. I lost my parents. I was so surprised. Welcome back to Zane and Keith, Unfiltered. I'm Zane.

[00:07:01]

I'm Keith.

[00:07:01]

I'm Matt.

[00:07:02]

I'm Mariah. And we are Unfiltered, baby. Thank you for coming back to another episode. We just got done with Thanksgiving.

[00:07:11]

Zane, I have to say something. What? Your karate kick the last episode was probably the funniest thing this podcast has seen. It was such a small moment, but I was cracking up in the moment and editing it. I watched it over and over because in the moment, nobody knew you were getting up to kick. We thought you were getting up to go to the bathroom or check a camera because you're demeanor. And then you got up.

[00:07:36]

And kicked. You heard every bone because I was right next to the mic. So you heard every bone go... When I kicked. But no, there was one moment that was funnier than that, I thought. I was when your mom... I was cry, laughing earlier today, and I couldn't wait for you guys to come here so I could tell you. But I start talking and Mariah's mom fully.

[00:08:00]

Goes, Yes. And then is talking.

[00:08:04]

Like-swits the mic out. Swits the mic down. -the mic down and goes, Mm-hmm.

[00:08:08]

And Mariah's like, Mike. And she's like, Yeah, but yeah, Mike.

[00:08:14]

She's like, There's got to be a better way.

[00:08:16]

There's.

[00:08:16]

Got to be another way. I was howling. She was so funny.

[00:08:19]

I.

[00:08:19]

Watched that over and over again. What motivated the karate kick, though? I mean, I haven't listened to the episode, so. We did bring it.

[00:08:25]

Up, but you were so delayed with it. When you got up, the.

[00:08:27]

Conversation was over. Oh, yeah, it was long over. It was either Tina or nick. One of them did karate.

[00:08:33]

It just seemed like it felt like it was like an autistic moment. 100 %.

[00:08:39]

I felt like I was.

[00:08:40]

Watching an autistic kid.

[00:08:42]

It was very good.

[00:08:43]

100 %. Yeah, but yeah, Thanksgiving. How was.

[00:08:47]

Everybody's Thanksgiving? Oh, it was wonderful. I was in Alabama. I did it with Patricia's family. How was that? It was lovely. We were there for a wedding the week before, so we decided to stay and we did Thanksgiving with her family. Then we went to the Iron Bowl, which is like Alabama versus Auburn.

[00:09:04]

Okay. Did you guys win?

[00:09:06]

No. Sorry, I asked. Auburn always loses, man. But we got close. We got very close, but it was fun just to be a part of the world.

[00:09:12]

I like how you do the same thing every time you're there. You go to a game, you're at a wedding, you went to the bars for one night. It's like a tradition that every time you go to Alabama, it's like the same few things that.

[00:09:23]

You do. Yeah, sure did. They're a family of tradition. Yeah, I love it. We had a really nice time. But for you guys, your mother was in town. Yes, she was. Your parents were in town? Absolutely. Did your siblings come as well or no?

[00:09:35]

No, it was just my parents.

[00:09:37]

Okay, cool.

[00:09:38]

But while you were gone before we said what we did on our Thanksgiving, we got you a little gift.

[00:09:44]

I got you a gift right here. Wait.

[00:09:46]

Get your gift first.

[00:09:48]

Which gift first? This is your birthday present?

[00:09:51]

No, we got you a little early Thanksgiving gift.

[00:09:54]

Who gives gifts on Thanksgiving?

[00:09:55]

It's called a boo basket. People are doing things.

[00:09:58]

Is it really a boo basket? Is it really a boo basket? Is it a surprise? Shut your eyes. Do you want to see your thing? Do I look up and I see your thing? Okay, let's see yours first. Let's see your gift first. Okay, you can open it.

[00:10:09]

Loving the packaging. Is it for me?

[00:10:11]

It is for you. I got it for your birthday.

[00:10:14]

It sucks to be you guys. A gift for me.

[00:10:22]

When Jordan laughs to you hard to tell.

[00:10:24]

Us that. It sounds like a.

[00:10:26]

Thunderstorm right now.

[00:10:27]

Sorry, sorry, sorry. That sounded nuts.

[00:10:29]

Here, let me help you.

[00:10:30]

Come here. Thank you.

[00:10:32]

Is there something?

[00:10:33]

Was there more in that?

[00:10:34]

No, I don't think so. I don't think so. I got you a little hoodie.

[00:10:39]

Oh, Ms. Juicy, baby. Oh, my God.

[00:10:42]

That's so cool.

[00:10:44]

That's crazy that I said.

[00:10:45]

Her name. I know. Right when you said that, I was like...

[00:10:48]

That's weird. That's wild. Did you make this or did you find it?

[00:10:51]

No, it's from her website. It's her merch. I got to support Ms.

[00:10:54]

Juicy Mates. Okay, all right. You saw she dropped on her Instagram page and then you went on it.

[00:10:58]

-official merch. I just thought she just came to mind. I go, What's her merch been looking like lately? I saw that and I go, That's very you.

[00:11:04]

That's great. We should hit up her merch people.

[00:11:07]

There is more.

[00:11:08]

In here. I know I felt something.

[00:11:10]

You get a little extra. Is Ms.

[00:11:13]

Juicy late?

[00:11:13]

A calendar. Oh, maybe it's probably her headshot. What a headshot?

[00:11:19]

Just nudes.

[00:11:21]

Let me see.

[00:11:26]

Wait, do.

[00:11:27]

You think that's real or is that an AI thing?

[00:11:29]

No, I think...

[00:11:31]

No, it's real. That's his story. That doesn't.

[00:11:34]

Look like AI. That looks amazing. I had never seen that picture of her in my life.

[00:11:37]

Yeah, why.

[00:11:37]

Hasn't she posted anywhere? I thought it was going to be like her like you know.

[00:11:40]

Wait, maybe it's like a-.

[00:11:41]

It's only for people who.

[00:11:42]

Buy stuff from her. -maybe it's like a picture for me.

[00:11:44]

She looks like.

[00:11:44]

A realtor.

[00:11:45]

She said, Ms. Juicy, baby, thank you.

[00:11:48]

That came from the opposite. That came from Juicy enterprises.

[00:11:51]

Thank you, Ms. Juicy. She's so funny. She's amazing. All right, well.

[00:11:55]

Dude, that is too good.

[00:11:57]

Okay, we have to bring it in. So you got to cover your eyes.

[00:12:01]

Oh.

[00:12:01]

Yeah. Oh, my God. You all didn't get a Thanksgiving gift.

[00:12:05]

Keep them close.

[00:12:05]

Keep them.

[00:12:06]

Close, all right?

[00:12:07]

It's Thanksgiving. Oh, a Thanksgiving you all.

[00:12:11]

Oh, my gosh. I'm so excited. -what could it be? -all right, you're ready? Okay, let's see it.

[00:12:18]

Open up. Shut up. Oh, my God.

[00:12:24]

Are you... Oh, my gosh. Nice. Congratulations. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

[00:12:38]

Oh, my God. We've been dying to tell you. I'm so sorry.

[00:12:45]

Show it off. Show it off. Oh, my God.

[00:12:50]

We've been dying to tell you, but we're like, we got to tell you on the podcast. They get like...

[00:12:55]

Oh, my gosh. Oh, no.

[00:12:59]

I'm like crying.

[00:13:01]

I know.

[00:13:03]

Yes, it's hitting me again.

[00:13:08]

Matt's.

[00:13:09]

Looking at me like I did this.

[00:13:12]

I'm like-Everybody's been congratulating the three of us now. I'm so sorry.

[00:13:15]

It's all Zane, congratulations.

[00:13:17]

It's so funny. I know it's a sad day for me, but I'm smiling through the pain, baby.

[00:13:22]

It's so funny.

[00:13:25]

Oh, my God.

[00:13:26]

All right, so we'll take questions.

[00:13:29]

Were you there? Zane was there. Were you there? I was there.

[00:13:31]

-were you there? I was there. Oh! Wait, no, wait. I think you have to just.

[00:13:37]

You have to hear the story. I know, I know. That's the big thing.

[00:13:41]

Now, this is their story.

[00:13:43]

Wait, how many people... I don't know.

[00:13:46]

I'll get to it. I'm about to throw up. Oh, show.

[00:13:48]

Your engagement ring.

[00:13:49]

Oh, yeah. I wear a pinky ring because Mariah's dad wears a pinky ring.

[00:13:53]

Oh.

[00:13:54]

Nice. Yeah, this is my little... She got me a little something as well.

[00:13:58]

I look at you. This is like, you all are saying.

[00:14:01]

Boo.

[00:14:01]

Basket. You had this boo basket thing on the TV. You can tell we.

[00:14:04]

Were all nervous.

[00:14:05]

I was as nervous as I was the day.

[00:14:08]

It's just a word vomit.

[00:14:09]

I'm.

[00:14:10]

Like, cut it. Oh, boy. My heart is.

[00:14:13]

Clapper, clapper. Tell me. I don't even...

[00:14:16]

So it was Thanksgiving. Okay. Zane knew, he was the only one that knew.

[00:14:21]

When did you tell Zane? A while ago. This was happening. You've known for how long?

[00:14:24]

-i've known since April.

[00:14:26]

Which is crazy. -so you've had the ring since April? No.

[00:14:29]

I needed to talk to somebody about it, so I told Zane. Then we had our little freak out here. Then when I was getting the ring, I had shown Zane the pictures and renderings of what it was going to be like. Then, oh.

[00:14:46]

Man, I'm getting nervous. I couldn't believe what was happening. In the mall, I was like, Oh.

[00:14:50]

My God. This is happening. Zane was the only one that knew.

[00:14:52]

Which I was shocked to find out about because he's not a good liar. I've asked him about it. I'm like, What the hell.

[00:14:59]

Is going on? And he was- The amount of times, I didn't want to bring it up unless you brought it up. So you brought it up. She has asked me multiple times, and I have not brought it up to heath. I just like-.

[00:15:10]

I even have asked you too. I know, everybody. On my wedding day, I've been asking him, and you've been just like, I don't know.

[00:15:17]

Yeah, I just don't think it's going to happen. Zane is.

[00:15:20]

The one person I know when he's lying. I know. I didn't get an inkling that he was lying.

[00:15:27]

I'm a pretty bad liar. I just knew that I had to for this. Something had.

[00:15:32]

Your back. There was a guardian angel that was like.

[00:15:34]

You can do this. There was no time.

[00:15:37]

For fuck-ups. Yeah, I had no idea. I even told people. I was like, Zane is not the person to tell the.

[00:15:43]

Secret to. I said that. And I can't, especially when somebody brings it up in conversation, I have to immediately join the car. I can't just sit.

[00:15:54]

Back and just like -If you.

[00:15:57]

Stay silent. The minute I'm silent about it, then I'm like, I'm questioning.

[00:16:00]

It's questionable. It's so funny because -I.

[00:16:02]

Just have to join in the conversation and just be like, Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.

[00:16:06]

I don't know. It was really funny when David and I think a couple of other people, we were together and asked me and I didn't say anything. You were just like... You were just like...

[00:16:18]

Very good. It's tough. You did so good. Even if you tell one person, it will spread.

[00:16:24]

A lot of light. -oh, yeah.

[00:16:25]

Big time. -everybody will pretend they don't know, but they do know.

[00:16:28]

Okay.

[00:16:29]

Before we continue, we want to give a big thank you to our sponsor of this podcast, BetterHelp.

[00:16:33]

Now, Tommy, do you exchange gifts, cards, vacations, experiences, donations, or do you focus on enjoying time together? Whether or not your family gives gifts during the holidays, you get to define how you give to yourself.

[00:16:46]

That's right, and the holidays are a great time to do that. So whether it's by starting therapy, going easier on yourself during tough moments, or treating yourself to a day of complete rest, remember to give yourself some love this holiday season.

[00:16:58]

And the best gift you can give to yourself is therapy. So give better help a try.

[00:17:03]

It's entirely online and it's designed to be convenient, flexible, and suited to your schedule.

[00:17:07]

And it's so simple. Just fill out a brief questionnaire to get matched with a licensed therapist and switch therapists at any time for no additional charge.

[00:17:13]

And make sure to bundle up this holiday season. It's going to be cold. Bond the love. Bond the love. You don't want to go out and sit in any traffic or waste your gas money. Just do it from the comfort of your own home.

[00:17:25]

It's so nice to be able to talk to somebody that's like an actual licensed person. You're not talking to your best friend. You're not talking to your parents, your grandparents, your cousins. You're talking to somebody that is actually going to give you good advice and it's not going to be completely unbiased.

[00:17:38]

In the season of giving, give yourself what you need with better help. All you got to do is go to betterhelp. Com/zaneandheath today, and you're going to get 10 % off your first month.

[00:17:57]

-it's Thanksgiving. -it's Thanksgiving. Her parents are already in town. They're visiting. Do they know that this is happening?

[00:18:03]

No.

[00:18:04]

Not at all.

[00:18:05]

He had asked my dad's permission. Right. But they didn't know it was happening this day. While they were visiting, they didn't know.

[00:18:12]

It was so funny because the day before Thanksgiving, her dad asked me, What are you thinking? What's the plan?

[00:18:19]

He goes, I'm not getting any younger.

[00:18:21]

Then I was like, My intentions are there, whatever. I don't know exactly when. But yes, I plan on asking her. You do? Are you going to ask me? Then the next day I did it. Okay. But yeah, so it was at Thanksgiving. We were cooking all day. Her parents are in town. Zane and his mom were going to come over.

[00:18:48]

How are you?

[00:18:50]

Freaking out. Of course. I asked her about it. I was like, Was I weird?

[00:18:54]

You seem totally normal. But at the same time, my mom and I were cooking from 6:00 AM until we ate. We were cooking all day. I was so preoccupied and I was like, Of course, my parents visiting. I was like, Okay, I know him and I know me. We would want family when the moment happened. His parents just visited and it didn't happen then. I was like, Oh, weird. I was like, Well, my parents are coming. Maybe he'll do it then. Once the day before Thanksgiving, I was like, Okay, it's not going to happen because he went to on holiday. We're going to be busy all day. Then the rest of their trip, they were only there for one more day and we had nothing planned. I was like, So it's not happening. So it slipped my mind. We were cooking all day. The food was set on the counter and we all stood around to pray, which is a normal thing. We all stood around, held hands to pray.

[00:19:41]

We were around the food holding hands, and I said Grace. And then after I finished Grace, I thanked her parents for coming out and spending the time to see us. And then I turned to Mariah and I thanked her for being the most amazing person in the world and coming into my life.

[00:19:57]

Still didn't think anything of it because he says that every day.

[00:19:59]

I'm like, Mariah, I was looking at your reaction in the video, and I was like, She still has no idea what's happening. I have.

[00:20:05]

No idea. So it's being filmed.

[00:20:06]

Wait, who's filming? So Zane acted like he was setting up a Snapchat.

[00:20:11]

I can't film Grace, you all.

[00:20:13]

That's exactly what I did.

[00:20:15]

And Mariah was like, Okay, yeah, it's a Snapchat.

[00:20:18]

That day I was overly taking pictures and videos just to put in Mariah's head that I was just Snapchat-ing or something. -oh, my God. -overly excessive, making sure she was watching, just doing more than normal.

[00:20:31]

-zane's Zane's good with it.

[00:20:33]

-just watering down the... Yeah, that was great.

[00:20:35]

And then, Matt, you don't realize how embarrassed I was to just be like, Guys, I just want to get this grace. -it was so good. -and her family was in there like, Oh, my God. You'll get over it in 30 seconds. Then he.

[00:20:48]

Was trying to set the camera up, but it was more on other people. Then he turned to us and then he was like, Uh-uh-uh. Then he tried to keep correcting it. His hands were shaking, setting it up.

[00:20:58]

Because I couldn't put on just the two of them because then that was just way too obvious.

[00:21:02]

Then what else is funny is we were all holding hands, but I was pranking Zane. I was doing like this thing, and he's like, Stop.

[00:21:08]

Stop. I was like, doing this. Well, meanwhile, I was having a panic attack.

[00:21:13]

He was.

[00:21:13]

Like, No, not now. Then I told her I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. Then I got on one knee. Still didn't hit us. I asked her to marry me. Everybody's reaction was so perfect. She looked like she saw a ghost and just completely didn't comprehend anything that was going on. I got super choked up. Zane is beat red like this.

[00:21:42]

My mom is screaming. Scream. Louder than anybody, my mom. She had nothing.

[00:21:48]

Nobody had any idea.

[00:21:51]

Mariah's dad, I think, ran and did a lap around the kitchen. Mariah's mom just kept backing up and was just walking backwards like, What?

[00:22:00]

How many people are here? Is Danielle here?

[00:22:04]

No, just the six.

[00:22:05]

Of us. Just you, your mom, your parents, you two, that's it. Yeah. It was.

[00:22:09]

Such an honor. I'm not going to lie back. My mom in the car when we left was crying again because she was like, I just can't believe that I was here for that. I'm like, Mom, you're.

[00:22:20]

Boring too. I said it was like the perfect crowd. It made sense.

[00:22:25]

It was really nice. It was genuinely perfect.

[00:22:28]

Perfect moment. The only thing is when it happened, this is before we ate. So we sat down to eat. My appetite's gone. I took a couple bites, and I don't remember after cooking all day and waiting for this moment, I didn't taste a damn thing. So we've been eating leftovers, and I'm like.

[00:22:45]

Oh, that was nice. Wow, Thanksgiving food was great. Yeah, Thanksgiving.

[00:22:47]

Was great. It was hard to talk about anything else. We were trying to talk about something else because it wasn't bad tension, but it was just that overwhelming emotional tension where we're just trying to passage us for a little bit just so we can have a normal conversation. We just couldn't. We just kept laughing because it.

[00:23:03]

Was just crazy. It almost felt like all of us at the table were on drugs because we kept laughing uncontrollably and awkwardly looking at everybody at the table. We were just like.

[00:23:15]

What is going on? I just kept looking at Heath and Mariah, just making sure that they're happy and they're good and this was perfect because I didn't get to talk to Heath or Mariah.

[00:23:23]

I just felt like it wasn't until today where the room was spinning for the past few days. Or it felt like, you know the feeling when you're on a plane or you just get off a plane and all your senses are gone, your ears are muffled and you can't... It's like a little fogy. That's how I felt until probably today. It just felt like all my senses went away.

[00:23:44]

Like yesterday, it started sinking in.

[00:23:46]

Then you just keep looking down at the ring. You're like, Whoa, okay. Wow. It's done.

[00:23:52]

It's happened. I didn't make eye contact with the ring for two days. I was like, Oh, really? This is not happening.

[00:23:57]

Yeah.

[00:23:59]

It's gorgeous. It'si mean, Hushard cut?

[00:24:01]

Emerald. Emerald cut.

[00:24:02]

I love it. I love the gold. It looks like vintage.

[00:24:05]

Which I love it. Especially my jewelry. But when I buy jewelry, I think of wearing it now and wearing it when I'm 100.

[00:24:11]

Oh, yeah, absolutely timeless. All the way. -that's beautiful. -it is stunning, Kate. -thank you. -absolutely gorgeous. -stunning.

[00:24:18]

-you've done well. You know how else we knew that she had no idea also? -my nails weren't done. -her nails weren't done.

[00:24:23]

I texted Zane in the morning. I was like, Her nails aren't done. She's going to...

[00:24:27]

But.

[00:24:28]

You felt good about it because you were like, Okay, she definitely doesn't know. My nails have been done for six years straight.

[00:24:34]

Straight. And this is the.

[00:24:35]

One time. I just took them off and it happens. But it's funny because my sister went through the same thing. She had hers done for all two years of her relationship. She took them off right before vacation, and he did it that week. So it's like our funny tradition.

[00:24:48]

Yeah.

[00:24:49]

Guys, if you want to get engaged.

[00:24:50]

Take your.

[00:24:51]

Nails off. Tried and true.

[00:24:53]

Yeah. But he and I were also talking the day of, and he's like, you're trying to talk to me and say, should you tell her parents before? I was like, just you'll feel more nervous knowing that they're prepared for it. That might make you nervous. Something might slip. Just stutter more. It's better for everybody to just black out.

[00:25:14]

I did it like little eye looks like it's coming. Oh, yeah.

[00:25:18]

Because I think your mom would have totally been like, Oh, all right. Let's go.

[00:25:22]

Get our nails done. Let's go get our nails done.

[00:25:25]

No, I think we should.

[00:25:27]

Where did you hide the ring the.

[00:25:30]

Whole time? Where did you hide the ring? -under the sink.

[00:25:33]

-under the sink?

[00:25:33]

-what? That's where my cleaning supplies are.

[00:25:36]

Not smart. It was also in my closet for a little bit, too.

[00:25:40]

Oh, yeah. Did you propose ring in hand or with the box.

[00:25:46]

Popping up? That's another thing I was thinking about. Because I was nervous that the box was going to be hanging off my pocket like this. I was like, That's going to be weird. I specifically wore cargo pants so I could have a little bit of extra room. Easy access. Then I was like, Should I just take it out? But then I was like, This looks fucking...

[00:26:07]

Yeah, that looks like you did it. You got it.

[00:26:10]

Last minute. It looks like I found it. It didn't come with a box.

[00:26:13]

And a receipt. Why don't they put it in a more discreet box? I get it. I get it you want to do the full thing, but I feel like more people want it hidden on them more than.

[00:26:25]

This like... Yeah, my first box that I was set on, I didn't like it because it was a button.

[00:26:32]

You.

[00:26:32]

Had a.

[00:26:33]

Switch blade behind you.

[00:26:34]

It was like, surprise. Then I was like, I want to be able to crack it open.

[00:26:39]

You push it, it jumps out of your hand because of the spring.

[00:26:41]

That's so funny. Luckily, the girl that I could have made the ring was like, I actually completely agree with you. I'm sending you a new box. I was like, great. Oh, my gosh.

[00:26:50]

I know.

[00:26:51]

It's coming in waves over and over and over right now.

[00:26:56]

[00:28:17]

I loved the few nights before too because I knew it was coming. I wish you could go back. I was very emotional about just the dinner and the little nights that we had, all of us with my mom and your parents. It was just so fun watching you just not knowing how...

[00:28:33]

Not in any idea.

[00:28:34]

It was so funny.

[00:28:34]

Because her parents, because we went out to dinner a few nights before this to a nice restaurant. The whole time her mom swore that there was this guy there that was about to propose to this girl that was sitting across the way. I was dying the entire time. She's like, No, I think he's going to do it. I wanted to just be right there on the spot, be like, No, there is somebody. Somebody's going to propose right now. -and then do it. Just do it right there. Just because the timing would have been so funny. Yeah.

[00:29:05]

I can't believe this is the first time people are.

[00:29:08]

Hearing it. Yes, that was my next thing. Wait, right now is when everyone's hearing it for the first time. When are you guys going to work?

[00:29:14]

We're going to post a picture on Instagram this weekend because we have to do a shoot. Okay.

[00:29:18]

Oh, you're going to do a shoot.

[00:29:21]

With you guys with the reek. Yeah, we're going to post it on Instagram, and then the podcast is going to be the.

[00:29:26]

Next day.

[00:29:26]

Get ready for that. Oh, God.

[00:29:28]

I love wedding campaigns. I love engagement and.

[00:29:32]

Wedding campaigns. It's a press tour.

[00:29:35]

I love it. It's my favorite. We're going to have to go on a tour.

[00:29:37]

We're going to have to do some Q.

[00:29:38]

And A. Okay, so right after you did it, then did you FaceTime? All your friends, family, all of it? We ate because we were like.

[00:29:44]

Should we eat? They were like, Do you want to call people? We're like, Let's eat because everybody was hungry. We're like, Let's just try to get a little something in.

[00:29:51]

We called my siblings and his parents. Then the next day, I called all my cousins. Then we didn't tell the friends until yesterday.

[00:30:02]

Two days ago.

[00:30:02]

Two days ago. How did you do? How did you do? Do you go and Caitlin and go around? We just FaceTime. We just.

[00:30:05]

Facetime to everybody.

[00:30:06]

We were going to go try to see them, but I was like, by the time we make sure people are available to go see them and drive around.

[00:30:15]

You don't want to tell them we have a surprise for you? Yeah, it's a little... We FaceTime and it was the best reactions ever.

[00:30:21]

It was so fun FaceTiming the friends.

[00:30:24]

And then we just said we'll probably do a dinner with everybody or something. We'll see everybody.

[00:30:31]

Later in the week. Oh, yeah, get ready for it. You got a lot coming your way.

[00:30:35]

But yeah, my family didn't know. My brother didn't know.

[00:30:38]

Your parents didn't even know either that you were.

[00:30:42]

Oh, my God. Because I kept trying to convince them to come out for Thanksgiving.

[00:30:46]

They.

[00:30:47]

Were like, We just got back to Tennessee. We would love to, but we have to take a chill for a second. I was like, No, please. You really should come.

[00:30:59]

You know what? That's okay.

[00:31:01]

Oh, my gosh. I even have even more questions. But can I just say it? This is so crazy. Someone else just got engaged. Who? My brother. No way. -no way. -yeah. -wait, what day? -saturday. -oh, my.

[00:31:14]

-wait, hold on.

[00:31:16]

-oh, that's crazy. -that's air.

[00:31:18]

-holy shit. -my brother just got gay. -how did he do it? He did it in L. A. You know what? The nitty gritty details, I know that they had a photoshoot every year for their Christmas. They do a fun, corky Christmas card. Last year they did a J. C. Penny Christmas card. This year he got someone to come in and do a fau architectural digest of their place. They're just taking pictures around their apartment. Then he got down on one day. Oh, that's great. I don't want to... It's his story to say. I haven't got down the full nitty gritty of the day in the moment because they've been silent, but they're going to publicly announce. But that's just so.

[00:31:56]

Awesome to engage you. You must be so overwhelmed right now.

[00:31:59]

No, I was just like...

[00:32:01]

I was so worried that somebody might have told you before you came in here that you were like... No.

[00:32:07]

Ilia's reaction, I really have to say.

[00:32:09]

So funny.

[00:32:10]

It was hysterical. We called David first, and he just loves love. So he was getting emotional. He was just so excited. He was like, I want to stay on the phone while you call everybody else. We called Ilia and we said, Ilia, he wants to get back into shape. He goes, Bro, let's do it, bro. I was like, Yeah, but we only have five days to get him into shape. He's looking at the phone and he's like, Five days? Yeah, you know what? We could do it.

[00:32:34]

We could do it. Ilia will not be the person to see that.

[00:32:36]

We're not telling him. We're just sitting like this and David's cracking up. He's like, Bro, what? Five days? We could do it. It'll be fun. I was like, Okay, what about one day? I just held up my ring finger. He didn't.

[00:32:48]

Get it. He was like, Yeah, one day it's going to be tough, but we could try it.

[00:32:51]

Then it was 15 seconds went by and David was like, Are you looking at the phone? He's like, One day, and he did not get it.

[00:32:57]

Was he driving? Was he in the hills or something? No, he was.

[00:33:00]

Just home. Then he finally realized, and he was like, and he screamed. I've never heard him scream like that. He screamed. It was hysterical.

[00:33:09]

Oh, my, that is.

[00:33:10]

Too good. I wish I got to see the.

[00:33:12]

Reaction too. I think David tried screen recording it. That was the thing that I'm regretting right now. My unposed self, my girlfriend self would have thought to screen record everyone's reactions, but we are still so in the moment. Yes. It's not even my- We're not thinking about anything. I haven't taken pictures, videos. I'm just so out of it. I just am like, I've never been in the moment like that.

[00:33:40]

What are you looking at? I'm just looking at.

[00:33:43]

That ring, baby. To not think about it and not even to post just to have for ourselves, I'm like, Damn, I wish I had... The reactions were hysterical. They were so funny. But it.

[00:33:52]

Was great. I'm so fucking happy for you guys. Thank you. This is so great.

[00:33:57]

The feeling... This is going to be a big eyeroll. No, but... Speak your heart out. It was perfectly done. It was so me to have it done at the house. It felt like... There's an office episode. On the office and on Friends, the office, Michael Scott proposed to Holly in the office in front of the close coworkers. And then on friends, Monica proposed to Chanler in the living room. And it just felt like those moments, I watch those episodes over and over again because I'm so dramatic. They just feel so good. And having it in the kitchen, that was one of my first thoughts. I was like, Oh, my. I'm living my actual dream.

[00:34:38]

That's why you planned it just like that. That's exactly why. That's exactly why.

[00:34:42]

Yeah, I had watched that episode right before and I was like, It's going to be in the kitchen. No, I had talked to Zane about different ideas of how to do it.

[00:34:49]

Did you have any.

[00:34:50]

Ridiculous words?

[00:34:51]

Yes. Well, I told him.

[00:34:52]

I was like, Do you want to know all the times I thought it was going to happen? I felt so embarrassed. After that moment ended and it didn't happen, I'm like, I'm so embarrassed. I had my nails perfect. I'm like, All right, just stop.

[00:35:04]

Stop guessing.

[00:35:06]

That's probably what you want, is just for you to stop guessing.

[00:35:09]

Yeah, that's true. When you stop thinking about it, that's when it happens. When you.

[00:35:12]

Least expect it.

[00:35:13]

Yeah. What was the most ridiculous idea that you had?

[00:35:16]

In my head, my dream was to always do it under the Aurora Borealice. My goal in life is to see that. -the Northern Lights? Yeah. Okay. I just thought that would be super special. Then I was like, That just means... It means a lot to me. I was like, Not for this situation. That would be something cool that we can do down the road. But I was like, Not... Especially because that would be at night. You can't see him during the day. It was in the dark. I was like.

[00:35:44]

Don't drop that ring in the snow.

[00:35:45]

You dropped the ring in the snow.

[00:35:47]

In the snow, avalanche. I think it's the most beautiful thing, and I always dreamt of seeing it. Next to me.

[00:35:53]

Wait, you said that about me.

[00:35:54]

That's what you told me right.

[00:35:55]

Before you... You told me I was the most.

[00:35:57]

Beautiful thing. But yeah, I had like... You know how your brain just starts going.

[00:36:01]

Coming up with, Oh, yeah, I thought of. I was looking at so many places on Google Earth being like, Would this area work? -what can the photographer say?

[00:36:08]

-yeah. I knew I wanted it to be an actual surprise. I was.

[00:36:13]

Just like-I also know everything. I'm one of those people. I can read people a book. I would know it immediately.

[00:36:19]

You could sense if a big charade was coming your way.

[00:36:22]

That would require obviously a lot of planning and a lot of moving parts where I'd have to be like, Okay, we're coming. Do this now. Go. Go.

[00:36:30]

Almost like-Then he would have to rely on me to make sure everything is done on time.

[00:36:34]

Zane would never be able to play in. He wouldn't be punctual.

[00:36:37]

No, actually, I'd be a mad man. I'd be yelling at everybody. -that's true, yeah. -i'mtrying to be what I'm talking about. Imagine me with the radio connected to everybody that's supposed to do something on time. I'd be screaming at everybody.

[00:36:51]

I feel like the most us was at home.

[00:36:58]

In.

[00:37:00]

Our comfort space with her family. I was.

[00:37:03]

Like, this is...

[00:37:04]

Yeah, I wouldn't do it in public. I don't know, around the family, like during Grace, I feel like to me, it was the most sincere and special way to do it.

[00:37:16]

You did it right, man.

[00:37:18]

You did it right. Italy would have been crazy. I said, What about? I was like, I really thought Italy. Well, I said, I thought Italy. He was like, That was way too obvious. He's right because I got my nails done how I would want them going to Italy. This is so funny. We were on the flight there, and we had the first class division. And I went to open up the division to say hi to him, and this nail snapped. Oh, oops. And I was like trying.

[00:37:45]

Myself to sleep.

[00:37:46]

I was so upset. And not that my trip was ruined, but I was so...

[00:37:53]

It just sent me back. You thought that felt like bad luck or a bad omen.

[00:37:56]

I knew. I was like, Oh, it's not happening here. Why would this finger break? I was so pissed off that day.

[00:38:02]

I was so annoyed. It's so weird that that had like... Yeah.

[00:38:06]

It's funny. I actually was messing with that thing to make sure that happened, to let her know without.

[00:38:12]

Telling her. I figured, I didn't want to accuse, but I figured.

[00:38:15]

Another place that he wanted to propose, which was really a lazy dog. I was like, Absolutely not. I know you guys love that place. You guys go there every week, but don't do that. Come on.

[00:38:23]

A baked candy ring. A baked candy ring.

[00:38:28]

Hey, baby, can you grab me a candied bacon?

[00:38:31]

Throw.

[00:38:33]

That bitch in a circle.

[00:38:36]

Oh, man. Wedding. Do you think it'll happen in a year, six months? Are you going to go.

[00:38:44]

-we're saying like a year.

[00:38:45]

Or two. -a year or two.

[00:38:46]

We were thinking next fall or the following spring, so 2024 fall.

[00:38:51]

Because you got to think of the seasons.

[00:38:52]

Because we're going to do it on the East Coast. Do you think you would have it, you're going to do it on the East Coast? Pennsylvania?

[00:38:57]

Pennsylvania or New Jersey?

[00:38:59]

Yeah. Okay, nice. New Jersey has really good venues. Which month is? And plus, Jersey is closer to, I think, of the people traveling, all of our friends here traveling. New Jersey is right by Manhattan. So if they want to hop over. Make a.

[00:39:11]

Trip out of it. You can fly into Newark, which is the easiest from here. Exactly. Yeah, it's nice.

[00:39:17]

I have a lot of family.

[00:39:18]

She's got 300 relatives that live in that pocket. Oh, yeah. I have six.

[00:39:26]

Pick a seat, not a side.

[00:39:28]

Yeah.

[00:39:29]

Oh, boy.

[00:39:29]

What's the most beautiful time out there.

[00:39:32]

Well, that's what we were thinking. I would love a fall. The fall on the East Coast is unreal. But that is a year from now.

[00:39:41]

That gives you a lot of time. A year is not...

[00:39:46]

But right around September, you catch people, they don't have vacation.

[00:39:52]

Times, too. Right. But we also have... There's a lot of weddings that we have next year.

[00:39:56]

I know.

[00:39:57]

I'm like.

[00:39:57]

You got.

[00:39:58]

To check my calendar.

[00:39:59]

Are you starting a Pinterest board and everything. I had it since I was 10.

[00:40:03]

I.

[00:40:04]

Didn't know until yesterday how popular Pinterest is, like how many people actually use it. It's bigger than Instagram. I didn't know that.

[00:40:14]

It's crazy. Yeah, it's the best.

[00:40:17]

That's so exciting. I already said all this to you, but I'm so happy for you both. My heart is so.

[00:40:22]

Much like... You did good.

[00:40:23]

You did good. It's a crazy feeling. Obviously, you know.

[00:40:27]

Yeah, I didn't think it'd be.

[00:40:28]

This. Me too. -yeah.

[00:40:31]

Congratulations, man.

[00:40:33]

And it's just the beginning too.

[00:40:35]

-it's her moment. -yeah. -you know what I mean?

[00:40:37]

-it's her moment.

[00:40:38]

Do you have a ring? -your fiancé. Have you said it yet?

[00:40:41]

We said it and we just laugh every time.

[00:40:43]

Yeah, it's weird when you start saying it.

[00:40:46]

We're so dramatic. We're like, First time getting coffee is fiancée. First time walking down the street as fiancée. Yes.

[00:40:53]

I haven't been able to use it- Naturally. -in a natural setting.

[00:40:57]

When you get in an Uber, that's the moment you're like, Hold on, my fiancée is coming. And then that.

[00:41:03]

Though-but also even still saying it.

[00:41:05]

It's like, okay.

[00:41:06]

Then it starts a whole conversation. No, people usually go, Congrats, when's it happening?

[00:41:11]

You see, I think it doesn't even flow out of the mouth correctly. I think either say girlfriend, keep going with girlfriend, or just say wife. Wait, what did I tell you? The first time.

[00:41:20]

You said fiancé, I was like, Just say wife.

[00:41:22]

Yeah, it's weird.

[00:41:23]

It's also like-It sounds so snooty. It's like fiancée, because it's French, right?

[00:41:27]

Is it French?

[00:41:28]

Yes. Matt, it sounds pumpous, right?

[00:41:30]

My fiancée.

[00:41:32]

Oh, no, I was just letting you know that I'm using a big word.

[00:41:34]

That's my fiancée.

[00:41:35]

It just.

[00:41:35]

Sounds rich.

[00:41:36]

It sounds like-Give me some of that.

[00:41:37]

Thank you. But you only get to say fiancée for one chapter of your life, and it's this chapter. So embrace it. Fiancée. But sometimes you're just like, Oh, gosh. That's my wife. The small talk about talking about your wedding will start to drive you a little bit mad.

[00:41:53]

I know what you mean.

[00:41:54]

Yeah, the day it happened, people were like, Do you have a date? I'm like, What?

[00:41:58]

Yeah, I'm like, What are you...

[00:41:59]

Some people do it right away because when you book a venue, it does have to be a year in advance.

[00:42:04]

The earlier, the better. I would try to get a date locked in this month.

[00:42:09]

And also, girls are waiting for this moment. I'm sure the night of, the night you propose, I'm sure the girl already has a million ideas.

[00:42:17]

Definitely a year to two years because of the traveling back and forth. It's going to take longer to plan all that. And then even me picking dresses. I know I had my sister come out when she was getting married, and I was like, Let me just try on dresses for fun with you so I have that moment with you. And then when she went home, she picked one. But I'm going to want to fly home and try on dresses. I don't want.

[00:42:39]

To-yeah, do it with your mom.

[00:42:40]

Yeah, I want to do it with my mom and my sister. Things are going to take a little.

[00:42:43]

Longer, but-You want to try on suits with me?

[00:42:45]

It'll be fine. Yeah, you can take a suit. Do you get.

[00:42:49]

A suit?

[00:42:50]

You're going to have to plan the batch.

[00:42:52]

Okay.

[00:42:53]

You can use my template. It works really well. The Notion template?

[00:42:58]

Do you have just like a...

[00:43:00]

Yeah, I'll send it all over, man. It's all about the stuff out.

[00:43:04]

You can tell she's just sad. She shut the laptop.

[00:43:08]

Oh.

[00:43:08]

This can wait.

[00:43:10]

Producers can wait. I had a feeling something... Well, the no notes were up and you weren't like that. There wasn't any discussion. Usually, Jordan's like, Hey, do you want to bring something up? Or like, There was no topic.

[00:43:23]

You didn't think that. Now he's like, Now he's playing. I was like, Well, you.

[00:43:26]

Know what? No, I knew it was going to be.

[00:43:28]

I did know, actually, I did. I have had notes to read.

[00:43:30]

I really thought I was getting a boo gift. In my head, though, I was like, What?

[00:43:34]

It is insane. When you brought that gift, it was perfect. Yeah, it.

[00:43:38]

Just made it. We were so freaked out trying to figure out how to get you to close your eyes so we could set it up. We're like, Just tell him he has a gift. Then you were like, I.

[00:43:45]

Have a gift for you. No, I know it was perfect that we didn't even bug him too hard on the blindfold thing.

[00:43:50]

It was just great that I was so focused on this area. I'm like, What? Oh, man, I.

[00:43:55]

Can't wait. Got you, bitch.

[00:43:57]

Oh, man, how thrilling.

[00:43:59]

How thrilling. It's going to be a long, yeah.

[00:44:01]

It's going to be a long life.

[00:44:03]

There is a distinct feeling that once it's set in, I have felt different. Yes. I haven't felt like I've aged since I moved out here. This felt like a birthday of equivalent of being like, I just turned 21.

[00:44:25]

Yeah, like a milestone or like a renewal.

[00:44:28]

Yes. It felt like that wherehe was like, I feel my age now because I haven't felt over 21 since I've moved here. In that moment, it was like, I'm a man now. It's a very weird internal gut feeling.

[00:44:44]

He just has a... Yeah, I know how. He's wearing a button-up shirt. -yeah.

[00:44:48]

-all right. That feeling already, it gets stronger and stronger and stronger.

[00:44:54]

I would imagine, yeah.

[00:44:56]

It's obviously helped my mental health. I'm not saying this stuff out to people in the world like, You will be happier if you get married. You are going to be happy because of this stuff. No, marriage is not going to cure you.

[00:45:09]

But it's... I think it'll cure you.

[00:45:11]

It's working right now. I'm relating to this conversation so hard.

[00:45:14]

Zane's.

[00:45:15]

Going to walk down the street and just propose to.

[00:45:18]

Somebody walking by. Well, when I told people we were engaged, it's definitely mental. But I was like, I feel like my anxiety snapped away. I feel like my skin cleared up. I was like, This is the best.

[00:45:30]

The certainty, my mental flutter, my freak outside, my anxiety, that monkey in your brain that's just like, we should be worried about things, your future, all of it, everything is scary. Knowing that I have an amazing, loving, and supportive wife who I love, in the certainty of my love that I have for her and the excitement of the future that we're going to share together. Trust me, it is not all going to be roses and sunshines, but it's the.

[00:45:57]

Ride and.

[00:45:58]

The certainty of sharing it with them that it makes me so happy and excited where I'm just like, game on. I don't have to threat too much about myself because it's not about you anymore. It's about this union that you're sharing with the person. That, it just washes over you.

[00:46:17]

A fucking man.

[00:46:18]

I.

[00:46:18]

Know. You can say that again.

[00:46:20]

Yes.

[00:46:20]

Ma'am. Mariah, when you... It's so interesting. I wanted to ask you about what you said real quick about you said your anxiety went away, right?

[00:46:29]

I'm not saying he's really wanting to propose, though.

[00:46:31]

I don't know. Do you think you just started taking medication out of nowhere as soon as that happened?

[00:46:35]

Yeah, it felt like I popped a pill. Interesting. But I don't know. It's definitely not gone because certain things give me anxiety, like clutter, messy house.

[00:46:45]

Full plate. But the fact that you probably think about it a little bit every day, so now that you don't have that thought anymore, your days have to be just.

[00:46:52]

A few % better. You have clearly had a glow since.

[00:46:56]

Oh.

[00:46:57]

Thank you. It's the.

[00:46:59]

Best when you catch it. That was hard.

[00:47:00]

I'm so...

[00:47:01]

I was like, all right.

[00:47:04]

What bone did hit me? I was just.

[00:47:08]

Like, there you go. Zane was a kick it. It went right.

[00:47:11]

In between. I was like, those are things you say to your wife.

[00:47:14]

That's amazing. Before we continue, we want to give a big thank you to our next sponsor of this podcast, Seek Geek.

[00:47:19]

You guys know one of my favorite artists, Drake, is on tour right now. One of the stops that he's going to be making is at Sunrise Florida, our home city baby, you know what I'm saying? We're going to be going to Segeek to find the best deals for our tickets possible.

[00:47:32]

Segeek is the number one rated ticketing app with over 28 million downloads.

[00:47:37]

Other than Drake, they got more than 70,000 events every single day on Segeek, including concerts, sports, festivals, and more.

[00:47:44]

If you don't like Drake, they also have the Jonas Brothers Post Malone and the 1975 all on tour right now, and you're not going to want to miss that.

[00:47:52]

If you guys have never used Seekik before, it's honestly so simple and we love how they do it. They put all the tickets across the web in one place to make sure you are getting a good deal. That each ticket is rated on a scale of one to 10, so look for the green dots. Green means is good and red means is bad.

[00:48:06]

And every ticket is backed by their buyer guarantee, and Seakeag is the only site that lets you return your tickets ahead of the event with swaps.

[00:48:13]

Yeah, chill out, baby. We got a code. We got a hookup for you guys. You make sure to go through us and use our code, Unfiltered for $20 off tickets as Segeek.

[00:48:29]

Thank you so much to Segeek for sponsoring today's episode. We love you so much and thank you for giving us the chance to buy some.

[00:48:36]

Good tickets. Baby, you nailed that one. Thank you, Seedgeek.

[00:48:41]

You guys are going to get married, right? You're not going to move, right?

[00:48:49]

No. Are you? You're going to move already?

[00:48:53]

You're not going to move, right?

[00:48:55]

After the wedding.

[00:48:56]

After the.

[00:48:56]

Wedding, you're going to move? Well, talk to them. Talk to the cameras, guys. -talk to the cameras.

[00:49:00]

-talk.

[00:49:00]

To them. If we wanted to uproot and move, though, to Nashville.

[00:49:05]

So we're going to Tennessee.

[00:49:07]

You know you've talked about that. Like, dreaming-wise, it's already been confirmed you're set, it's going to happen. You can't be making all these big decisions already in one damn week.

[00:49:17]

No, we talked about that a.

[00:49:18]

Long time ago. Okay, but I mean, I'm down.

[00:49:20]

I'm down.

[00:49:21]

At a pack. Well, no, no, no. I care about raising a kid in L. A.

[00:49:27]

Yes, I don't want to have a kid out here.

[00:49:30]

By the time they're five or...

[00:49:32]

Our idea was like two more years here.

[00:49:36]

I'm having.

[00:49:38]

Fucking-zane's entire future just fly. He looked at me like this.

[00:49:42]

I was like, I don't have a wife yet. All I have is a podcast.

[00:49:51]

We're thinking two years to get to Tennessee, but we would fly back and forth to do the podcast.

[00:49:59]

I've also considered that on my brain, too.

[00:50:01]

It is tough because we do consider our parents are getting older. I don't want to have a kid out here. I need my mom. If I get pregnant, I need my mom, my sister, just closer to family in general. You just think of all.

[00:50:17]

Those things. Why are you booking her flights already?

[00:50:18]

Mariah.

[00:50:19]

Okay, but-Why are you on Zillow and-You just have to think.

[00:50:21]

About it. And then also-Get off your phone. What is happening?

[00:50:24]

Matt, get off.

[00:50:24]

Your phone. I guess this is the.

[00:50:26]

Last episode. -pitrusting houses already. But I wantto say after us talking about that, I feel like that sounds really concrete. There's this... This is the last time I saw something. I know. It's such a scary time. -it's so far down the timeline. But it is important to be thinking of it and thinking of the logistics of how... Because obviously we love doing this. I would obviously keep that as my priority. But at the same time, how can we.

[00:50:54]

Continue.

[00:50:55]

Doing this but maintain the fun? I have.

[00:50:57]

No plan on ending this. I'll make.

[00:50:59]

The-we'll figure it out. It'll be figure it out. Because it's not like we're not working in an office building or anything. It's not impossible.

[00:51:07]

I will.

[00:51:07]

Say-it's just a room.

[00:51:08]

With cameras. -i'm not doing.

[00:51:10]

The Zoom podcast.

[00:51:11]

-hell no.

[00:51:11]

I can't do it. Zoom sucks. We tried it once, remember?

[00:51:14]

-yeah. -that was horrible. -yeah, it doesn't work. No, yeah, we talked about flying out and recording.

[00:51:19]

Get yourself a jet like Kyle.

[00:51:21]

-honestly?

[00:51:21]

-that's a good idea. -unfiltered air?

[00:51:23]

-unfiltered.

[00:51:24]

Air. -that is going down into the ground. You think I'm going to get on a plate.

[00:51:28]

That.

[00:51:29]

Says, unfiltered air. -unfiltered air? -unfiltered air?

[00:51:32]

-the name already. -our logo is a gas mask.

[00:51:37]

-unfiltered air?

[00:51:39]

-no.

[00:51:40]

-you just can't.

[00:51:41]

Breathe when you're on it. -your brother's flying the plane?

[00:51:43]

-you have to have the thing that drops down from the entire plane.

[00:51:46]

Speaking of planes, did you guys hear about this story? I don't know if we ever talked about this. In 2019, a woman wakes up on a plane. The whole plane is dark. Nobody is on the plane.

[00:51:59]

Is this the road away? Itsounds like a horror story, like a.

[00:52:01]

Fake story. I'm just setting it up like this, but this is what happened. A woman woke up on a plane. Nobody is on the plane. It's all dark and everything. She's like, Where the hell did everybody go? She looks out onto the tarmac and the plane is just parked there. She tries to get off the plane, it's locked. This plane landed. Everybody got off the plane. All the flight attendants and they forgot about this woman sleeping on the plane. She had to get her... Or her phone was dead, but she managed to bang and get lights going for one of the tarmac workers to notice that somebody was still out on the plane.

[00:52:42]

How heavy was she sleeping? Dude, I don't. For her not to get up. How did.

[00:52:46]

Everybody walk by her and not go?

[00:52:48]

Yeah, there's so many things that just passed.

[00:52:51]

They clean the plane.

[00:52:53]

They.

[00:52:53]

Don't clean the planes.

[00:52:55]

That's proof right there.

[00:52:56]

Clearly not that well. Or maybe it was the last plane of the day. You know, you hear about people sleep on the last subway. They wake up and they're at the station or on a bus. It was this type of situation where this woman was just trapped on this.

[00:53:07]

Fucking plane. Just safety wise for just the airport and plane and people boarding the next flight. That's crazy that they.

[00:53:15]

Let that happen. I think she sued the airline and managed to.

[00:53:19]

Settle for it. I didn't even think you could sue. Because you didn't get her.

[00:53:23]

You got trapped for a long amount of time. I saw that as TikTok and it really freaked me out. What airline? I have no clue. Air Canada. Oh, it was Air Canada.

[00:53:34]

Wow. I bet they're really sorry, though.

[00:53:38]

I saw this other video, and I remember I've seen the video before, it's a time-lapse. A guy, so it's four o'clock around, or no, 4:30 on a Friday. This guy is at his office or whatever, goes downstairs to have a cigarette, goes down the elevator, then gets back up the elevator to go up to his office. Elevator shuts down. He's stuck and he's buzzing the thing. Surely someone's going to come save him. He is in the elevator because it's a Friday. Everyone has gone home. He's in the elevator for over 48 hours and he doesn't have his phone on him. He doesn't have anything. All he has is his fucking wallet and his cigarettes. And this dude, there's a time lapse of this guy over the course of the 48 hours.

[00:54:26]

In.

[00:54:26]

This elevator. Almost just losing his mind. He sits down for a bit, he pries it open, he bangs, he sits down again, fuss around with things on his wallet. He just doesn't know. That's got to be the craziest thing. You don't know how much time has gone by at all and you're trapped in a confined space.

[00:54:46]

What.

[00:54:46]

Goes through your brain?

[00:54:47]

48 hours not knowing the time.

[00:54:50]

Is -and it's just.

[00:54:50]

Bright.

[00:54:51]

Light.

[00:54:51]

Above.

[00:54:52]

You the entire time.

[00:54:53]

-no idea. I think that causes permanent mental damage.

[00:54:56]

Yeah, and so he sued, and I don't know how much, but got an undisclosed amount of money.

[00:55:00]

100 %. Yeah, I would 100 % sue. I don't care.

[00:55:05]

Okay, if you had a pack of cigarettes, would you just be hitting them back and back? Or would you be like, I don't know how much longer I'm going to be in here. Should I like -I don't know.

[00:55:13]

Just because everything is... I mean, no, there's ducks up there, so there's air flowing.

[00:55:18]

No, I'm definitely.

[00:55:18]

Thinking of this brain. -i'm saying wasting all the cigarettes. I would be like...

[00:55:22]

-but here's the thing. -it's almost like food.

[00:55:23]

You can take time.

[00:55:24]

With it. But he had to have known, he goes, It's Friday, so nobody's here. This whole weekend is about to go.

[00:55:31]

Yeah, no, he had that thought.

[00:55:34]

He had to have that as a guiding light.

[00:55:36]

It's crazy that there was no emergency pull button on most.

[00:55:41]

Of them. But sometimes when you buzz that, it's not calling... I don't think it calls the local fire department. Mine did. Okay. I don't know how old this building was. I've just seen this time lapse. I think it happened mid-2,000. I remember seeing the video.

[00:55:58]

On E-ball for a while. Oh, mid-2,000. I thought it was a little bit more recent than that.

[00:56:02]

I just remember I've seen, I saw this video.

[00:56:04]

Because now every.

[00:56:04]

Elevator, when you- In 2008.

[00:56:06]

As soon as you press it, the alarm goes off. But it'll go off until you let go of it.

[00:56:12]

He was returning to his office on the 39th floor when the elevator stopped in between the floors. He pressed the alarm, letting it ring, ring, but 11:00 PM, the building was deserted. It would be nearly two days before White was rescued. He paced around the elevator like a bug trapped in a box fighting claustrophobia every minute for a 41 hour ordeal, which was captured on the video.

[00:56:36]

Surveillance camera. That's a long time.

[00:56:39]

Yeah, no food. Even though you're not going to die.

[00:56:41]

The.

[00:56:42]

Water for that long. The cigarettes, though, not having the water, though, and having a cigarette.

[00:56:45]

Though, it'll make you so thirsty. I'm sure he was going up, right? There's some depth under you. You don't know. The whole time I'd be like, Is this elevator going to fall? At any point while I'm on this?

[00:56:58]

I've learned that that's a myth about elevators falling. Most modern elevators, I think it's technically impossible for the elevator to fall. Have I read that? Maybe I'm wrong. I think they figured out a contraption where it's... There's a loop that goes through where even if it fell, it would still stop on the loop.

[00:57:20]

Did you guys see the guy that streaked at Disney for the It's a small world ride?

[00:57:25]

I did. Yes. He was on acid, right?

[00:57:27]

He was on something. I think he.

[00:57:29]

Was-i'm trying to know. People are saying shroom, acid, mental illness.

[00:57:32]

Shroom doesn't do that to you.

[00:57:34]

I agree. But the guy looks so calm and certain, just walking around. Then he goes and sits in this small world ride where it looks like a river. He sits in the middle of that. Then he walks out of the ride, walking in the river, butt-naked in front of all those people.

[00:57:50]

I only saw the video of him in boxers.

[00:57:53]

When he walked out of the ride, he's butt-naked.

[00:57:55]

This was a.

[00:57:55]

Couple of days ago. They went.

[00:57:56]

Right through the park. I wonder how many kids saw that. Yeah, taking me in the back.

[00:57:59]

That had been his intention. Like, I'm going to Disney today. I'm going to go on Small World.

[00:58:04]

It's not... Yeah.

[00:58:05]

But you had to go through parking, security, getting the ticket.

[00:58:09]

All right, he's shredded. I'm not.

[00:58:10]

Going to lie. No, he does look a little cut.

[00:58:13]

Was he on the Zillow program?

[00:58:14]

Yeah, he.

[00:58:15]

Pretty built.

[00:58:15]

-yeah. He looks like a guy who rock climbs.

[00:58:18]

What's his story?

[00:58:20]

People are trying to figure that out.

[00:58:22]

Huh.

[00:58:23]

Is it messed up? It would be weird if we had him on the podcast?

[00:58:26]

-so why did you tell his story? -he's a sex offender on the podcast. But you're a sex offender.

[00:58:29]

-have you looked.

[00:58:31]

At -at.

[00:58:31]

Neighborhood, Watchdog? -at the map?

[00:58:33]

Yeah, but then again, I'm like, It's Los Angeles.

[00:58:36]

Yeah, they're everywhere.

[00:58:37]

It's scary. How many there are around here.

[00:58:41]

A lot. I like it better when I go back to my hometown, like when you're in suburbia.

[00:58:46]

When I was leaving here the other day, so you know how you drive out of your street and there's the apartment complex across the street. If you're heading back to go to the main street, across is an apartment in front.

[00:59:00]

You're talking on the street?

[00:59:01]

Yes, going that way. You look straight across. You pull and you get ready to turn right. I'm driving up and I'm about to leave your street to turn right. I look at the apartment in front of me and this guy has his entire glass window open on the second floor, can see through everything. He pulls his shirt off and I'm like, What is this guy doing right now? He starts going like this. Ewe. He's flexing his muscles.

[00:59:30]

Like looking at himself in the mirror?

[00:59:32]

No, he was just doing it. You wanted people to look.

[00:59:35]

At him? I don't know.

[00:59:36]

That's what it sounds like.

[00:59:37]

But it was very American psycho, pulls his shirt off.

[00:59:42]

-is he in good shape?

[00:59:43]

-yeah. Pretty built. Then he just starts flexing. -did you like it? I sat there for a while and washed.

[00:59:48]

All right, just want to... Right there?

[00:59:51]

Yeah, right there. We can go.

[00:59:52]

After this if you want. Yeah, I was thinking.

[00:59:54]

Let's check that out. But yeah, I just sat there doing it. I'm like, This is weird that I can see completely like...

[00:59:59]

Every time I'm in New York, I can't imagine all these people who live in those apartments where everyone can look into.

[01:00:06]

Your.

[01:00:07]

Vibe. I can't.

[01:00:08]

Help it. I would just hate to have curtains where I have to constantly open it and close it. You can never just get sunlight and privacy at the same time. You have to pick one.

[01:00:18]

Do you ever get embarrassed about a window where people could see into your TV to what you're watching? Whenever I walk by a house and I can see what they're watching on TV, I'm like, I shouldn't be...

[01:00:28]

I feel weird. It's like an invasion of privacy when you see the TV on it.

[01:00:31]

When I can see what they're watching and recognize a show, I'm like... I feel very uncomfortable.

[01:00:40]

Seeing-yes, I know. I know what you mean.

[01:00:42]

If only they knew that in that moment you're looking through seeing their TV. If they got notified, that's freaky. If I was.

[01:00:50]

Notified that someone was just-But be on a plane if I'm looking in between the seat and I'm looking at someone texting, buddy, I'm looking.

[01:00:56]

At-i get so curious. I'm just genuinely like, I'm not like... There's a difference between nosy and.

[01:01:01]

Curious, right? And the seats are lined up perfectly to where you can't see the one in front of you, but through the crack, you can see one seat over. It's like you're holding it here. Both sides can see directly to your phone.

[01:01:12]

I love watching just old ladies text. It's like in the largest spot ever. Just landed. It smells funny on this plane. Get me out of here. Do you guys have privacy.

[01:01:29]

Screens-and-screen protectors?

[01:01:30]

-screen protectors? I used to, but it started getting really annoying because I started... For some reason, I would need the phone. I would need to see the phone where I'm not looking at it directly. It's weird. It was just annoying to have to...

[01:01:45]

But then I've been like, if you were editing a picture, is it not the full resolution of what the picture is?

[01:01:50]

Yeah, it's a.

[01:01:50]

Little darker.

[01:01:51]

Yeah, it's a little tint to it.

[01:01:52]

Maybe I.

[01:01:53]

Don't know. Ryan, stop looking at the sex offenders.

[01:01:55]

In this city. Oh, zoom into the street. Zane, it's you. He's like, no, don't zoom in.

[01:02:00]

There's nobody here. Oh, wait. I'm pretty sure that was my post news driver.

[01:02:04]

Before we continue, we want to give a big thank you to our next sponsor of this podcast.

[01:02:07]

Lumin Labs. This product is getting me hyper ready because the first word I see right there on the top is microdose. And baby, you know I love to.

[01:02:14]

Do that. I know you do.

[01:02:15]

I actually talk about this on the show a lot. I do like to microdose. I feel like it just makes me feel better, helps me perform better. And it also relieves a lot of my anxiety too, which is why I love to do it.

[01:02:26]

I've honestly noticed a huge difference as soon as Zane started microdosing. I can tell when he's in the zone, you know what I mean? I know microdosing can help you get in the zone and stay in the zone for a lot longer.

[01:02:37]

Not only that, it boosts my mood, it helps me relax, and I'm able to live in the moment without overthinking everything, especially when I'm doing work or I'm on camera or.

[01:02:47]

Honestly anything. We all know why Zane actually enjoys microdosing with these gummies. It's because it can spice up sex and intimacy.

[01:02:55]

After all the spicing up and all that sex and intimacy, baby, it helps you fall asleep and stay asleep.

[01:03:01]

By sex and intimacy, I was also meaning him and Angelica.

[01:03:06]

Don't try me. Guys, I'm not a big fan of weed. This has just a tiny dose of THC, which is perfect for my anxiety and just half a gummy. It's like the perfect dose to take and it helps you relax at the end of the day.

[01:03:19]

If you want to learn more about microdosing THC, all you got to do is go to microdose. Com and use code unfiltered to get free shipping and 30 % off.

[01:03:28]

Your order. Again, that'smicrodose. Com. Code unfiltered for 30 % off your first order.

[01:03:33]

I can't believe they got microdose.

[01:03:35]

Com. Yeah, that is really wild that they got that. That's the link. That's crazy. Good job, Lumen.

[01:03:42]

Thank you so much, Lumen Labs, for sponsoring this podcast. We love you.

[01:03:45]

What are you all doing for New Year's?

[01:03:47]

Miami.

[01:03:48]

Oh, fun. Are you going to stay there after Christmas to do... Or St.

[01:03:55]

Barts.

[01:03:55]

I want to go to St. Barts. Go to St. Barts.

[01:03:58]

It's pretty cool.

[01:03:58]

One of those three. How far is St. Barts?

[01:04:00]

From Miami, it's like two and a half hours.

[01:04:02]

Wait, really? Yeah. That would be nice.

[01:04:05]

They have a really fun beach club in St. Barts. What's it called? It's the.

[01:04:09]

One that's really- Yes, the tree club.

[01:04:11]

What's the one that's really popular in Miami that's also really big? It's like James Beach or like...

[01:04:17]

Maybe, yeah, it's something like that.

[01:04:18]

I don't have one that they have in different... It's popping at St. Bart's.

[01:04:22]

It's the coolest. I've seen pictures and it's beautiful. That'll be fun. -what are you doing for New Year's?

[01:04:27]

I think I want to go to the Oregon Coast.

[01:04:29]

The Oregon Coast? Yeah. Why is specifically that place?

[01:04:33]

Because Patricia and I have always wanted to go up there.

[01:04:35]

Both of you had...

[01:04:37]

Yeah, because it's orca season. You can go see all the beautiful orcas. It's like, it's misty and sea cliffs.

[01:04:45]

People really change when they're married. We're going to go watch orcas. You don't want to go bar hopping anymore?

[01:04:51]

I guess I'm still down to go bar hopping, but New Year sometimes it's like I like set plans.

[01:04:57]

Yeah, I.

[01:04:58]

Get it. I don't know. I really want to take the train. I want to take the train from Portland to LA.

[01:05:05]

I want to do the train.

[01:05:07]

So bad. It's called the Coastal Starlight. It's with Amtrak. The move is to really get a room at because that's where you can really lay down. But it looks cozy. It's 31 hours, though.

[01:05:19]

-is there Wi-Fi on the train? -that's less time than the guy spent in the elevator.

[01:05:22]

-yeah. -you can handle it.

[01:05:24]

I'd be doing Tubgirl, TikToks with the whole time. -what's Tubgirl? Tubgirl, TikTok. You're not on Tubgirl, TikTok?

[01:05:31]

Who's Tubgirl?

[01:05:32]

The girl that's on the train. The most confident girl I've ever seen in my life. Dude, the train will be filled with people and she'll do a full on... But they're good.

[01:05:46]

She's really good at it. She knows exactly when the wind is.

[01:05:48]

Going to hit. That wind hits her and she just looks like she's performing like she's Beyonce at a concert.

[01:05:54]

We should meet up with The Train Kid.

[01:05:56]

Who's The Train Kid? Oh, yes.

[01:05:58]

He puts this 360 GoPro on his head and it shows his face, but also everything around. He's just in love with... He just loves everything about trains.

[01:06:08]

He's a train spotter. He's a train spotter. People who are obsessed about trains.

[01:06:11]

He gets really excited to see these trains because they're old trains or decommissioned ones that shouldn't be running anymore and stuff like that. But yeah, it's really cool.

[01:06:22]

Oh, wow, he looks like a train spotter.

[01:06:24]

That's going to be really fun when you live in Europe that you can go see all these types of trains. You know?

[01:06:30]

You know what? I think I'd be obsessed with trains too if I was.

[01:06:34]

Around them. Oh, Keith, I went to a really cool auto museum in Birmingham.

[01:06:38]

Really?

[01:06:38]

It was badass. Vintage? And they have, yes, so many vintage motorcycles, tons of vintage races in cars. You would have probably been geeking out about all of it. It was really cool. There was a racetrack.

[01:06:50]

There too. You went to that?

[01:06:51]

Yes. No way. It was like a Hot Wheel in real life, man. That's sick.

[01:06:56]

That does look like the Hot Wheel garage.

[01:06:57]

That's sick. Wow.

[01:06:59]

Yeah, dude, it was so sick. Then outside of it was a racetrack and you can be a member of the club and go take your car out. They're like, they all speed, but at a pace in between them, it was very cool.

[01:07:11]

That's sick.

[01:07:12]

Yeah, some rich billionaire who like, You know when you live in Birmingham or if you're a billionaire, like a very wealthy person in Alabama, you don't have to disclose what your net worth is.

[01:07:26]

What do you mean?

[01:07:27]

This guy who owns this place is from a huge dairy family. The guy is a billionaire, but you can't Google how much the guy is worth.

[01:07:36]

The net worth thing that you can google is never accurate anyways.

[01:07:40]

But if you own a publicly traded company, people can, and that salary is publicly disclosed, and then people can figure out your net worth. Patricia told me this while I was there. I'm like, Well, how much money does this guy have? She goes, Well, you can't find it out because you can't Google that stuff in Alabama.

[01:07:59]

If you were to make a guess, you're saying it's.

[01:08:01]

A lie? Just probably maybe fake ones, but you can't... I don't know if it's true. Someone proved me wrong, but I just learned that there's this thing with Alabama about... I don't know.

[01:08:14]

Just a little-No income tax in Tennessee, by the way.

[01:08:17]

That's right.

[01:08:18]

What do you mean? Wait, zero? Zero. Really? Yeah. I thought we'd say at least had like 1.2 %.

[01:08:24]

Texas has zero?

[01:08:26]

Texas has zero. Tennessee has zero. I believe Florida has zero. No.

[01:08:30]

Nevada has zero. Wait, I think I'm getting confused. You're saying income tax.

[01:08:34]

Like state income tax.

[01:08:35]

Okay, not.

[01:08:36]

Like-you still have to pay to.

[01:08:38]

The Fed. -tax. So Florida is 6 %? What's 6 % in Florida? Or what's the tax in Florida? That's sales tax. Sales tax. That's 6%?

[01:08:47]

It was 6%, I believe, when we lived there. I think it's up now. I could get that in Alabama for way cheaper. Of course, you can. Wow, your rent is $15,000. I can get a mansion in Kansas for that.

[01:09:02]

Of course you can. It sucks. It's so frustrating how beautiful. This may sound so vague and broad, but it just sucks how big this country is, how beautiful it is. There's all these really cool places where you can live, your dream place where you would want to live. But how much we value being close to the people that we know, the people that we love, and then we put that over where we want to be.

[01:09:33]

Everybody just hopped on board. Yeah.

[01:09:37]

But then it's so tough making that call in life or where you want to be. Like, Oh, I've sat... Patricia and I, we fantasize about Birmingham all the time. Alabama, and we're like, Oh, yeah. Then sometimes I'm like, But would I love it? But would I love it? I don't know. Because what I love about here are all my friends that I get to see. All my different types of friends. That's the beauty of LA. You're not just friends with accountants, bankers, and lawyers or people that are your profession, all respect to those. The beauty of LA is the fun of this industry. You know people who are actors, writers, you're influencers, musicians, right? It's a bohemian of friendship out here. Knowing that you don't have access to all these people doing cool stuff all the time, that's like...

[01:10:24]

But there's people that live all over that do that.

[01:10:26]

True. I think it's just... But it's.

[01:10:28]

Also the industry and history. I think that means immediate. It just seems like it's a quicker connection with everybody around you than going to.

[01:10:38]

Somewhere like... I think any big city, if you went to Nashville, you would meet the most obscure people from all over different type of careers.

[01:10:48]

Yes. Also, I say that because we've spent 10 years in the city and we built making those friendships.

[01:10:53]

Right, that's true.

[01:10:54]

You can also make those friendships in any city. I'm not saying that too concretely, but that's what I'll.

[01:11:00]

Miss.

[01:11:01]

Is that fun circle. But you know what? Soon that dries up. Those people are going to have their family, their friends.

[01:11:08]

The way I look at it is like chapters and stuff like that. Obviously, I knew when high school was ending, I'm like, I'm going to miss all my friends and everything like that.

[01:11:16]

I know some of my friends have been staying friends with the same people. Their friendships are strong. They know each other forever. But they've also driven each other insane. When I see my high school buddies, I'm like, So it's good. They're like, Oh, well, they can't stand each other because they've been hanging out the.

[01:11:32]

Whole time. It's not hate, it's more just like...

[01:11:34]

Yes, yeah. It's just, I don't know. But it's the beauty. I don't know. Sometimes I don't know.

[01:11:42]

-life is crazy.

[01:11:43]

-i can't tell. Can't wait to live with all my friends when I'm 55.

[01:11:45]

It's not like saying settling your dreams, but sometimes I really try to think about what do I want my life to be like if I am when I'm 50 years old? Do I want a ton of friends? Or I look at, I'm already accepting. I don't want to be Jimmy Fallon. I don't want to do that because I don't want to stress out about doing a nightly show all the time. Oh, you're going to bring in the new Little Corn Kid. You got to do a thing with him. Then we got this band. You got to meet them. Do a little TikTok.

[01:12:11]

With that. That sounds so exhausting.

[01:12:13]

Shoot me. The whole world is just bringing you these people and you got to interact with them. Then I would never even want to become massively famous because I'm so happy with the intimacy of the friends I have now. I don't want to have to be jet set around the world meeting more people. I'm talking about business people.

[01:12:30]

Yeah.

[01:12:31]

I love seeing the world and interacting with people who love this podcast, but I'm talking about that fame world. I don't want that rat race in my head anymore.

[01:12:41]

Yeah, that's been dawned in my head. I've been dawned in my head.

[01:12:45]

[01:14:49]

Yeah, that's exactly what... Who knows? Maybe if I do start a new widget, a new scrub daddy, then you got this whole new ride of getting on calls, talking to all these people. I'm like, I don't want that.

[01:15:06]

As exciting as it is, and it's exciting to come out with your own product and be successful on that, that's another 15 years that you're just setting down and you got to focus on that.

[01:15:17]

Do you know what the rat race is? People describe life as the rat race.

[01:15:22]

Yeah, I've heard.

[01:15:23]

Where you can get lost in the rat race. The beauty of America, capitalism. If you have a dream, you set your mind to it, you might get a nice cut piece of the pie if you work hard. But that itself is a rat race. And sometimes you need a balance of like, to when are you just comfortable? You put in your work, you get your money, and you're happy. Or is it like.

[01:15:45]

You got to get your nut? It's never ending.

[01:15:48]

I know. But being aware of it is the important part in enjoying the ride.

[01:15:52]

It's all about the journey that gets you there. That's why I feel like I wake up just on autopilot every day.

[01:15:58]

You think that?

[01:15:59]

Yeah, I wake up every day and what I have is amazing. This is the best thing I could ask for, but I'm constantly thinking of, What's my goal in life? But I feel like this should be the goal. This is the goal we have, a show that we can film from our own house and all we need is these cameras and these lights and we just post on YouTube. That's insane. But why do I feel like that's not enough? Why do I feel like people don't take it seriously?

[01:16:26]

Who are these people and.

[01:16:27]

Who is the people? No, I'm just saying the world. I'm just saying the world.

[01:16:33]

You're like, what's the next thing? Where do we.

[01:16:35]

Go from here? Yeah, like, is this a job?

[01:16:38]

Is this real? You get to do it. That's the beauty of waking up and going, we get to do this. Yeah.

[01:16:42]

I think it's because I'm not in a building and there's not computers all around me. I'm not doing it.

[01:16:47]

You have this idea of what work is, and you feel like this is not what you had envisioned when you were younger that this would be a working environment.

[01:16:55]

Absolutely, yeah, I know. I'll never get out of that. I know. And just a slight little kick of imposter syndrome that'll never go away. Oh, yeah.

[01:17:05]

But I think, yeah, the older now I get, though, I'm like, I don't care.

[01:17:10]

And I tell you all every day, I'm just like, I just don't think I don't care what I say anyway. I'm just going to fucking say whatever. But then I don't.

[01:17:19]

But then 20 minutes later, Hey, Mariah, that one part where I.

[01:17:22]

Said, I want.

[01:17:23]

To speak my mind. And then I'm just like...

[01:17:26]

I think you like getting it off your chest. But then you're.

[01:17:29]

Like, Yeah. Yeah. No one's really thinking about you that much. Everyone's focused on their own stuff. Absolutely. All of these people whose opinions I used to really worry about, they've all got kids now. They're focusing on their own thing. Who am I to sit here like, Hopefully, if they think what I'm doing is cool or get their approval? No.

[01:17:48]

No, the amount of times that runs through my.

[01:17:51]

Head every.

[01:17:51]

Time I post something.

[01:17:53]

Do you have a concrete they, are there four or five people that you think about these people?

[01:17:59]

Oh, no, that's really fine. No, I don't. I think as a whole, I think about everybody. I know. I know. All of you guys. And I think about... You know what?

[01:18:10]

What pisses me off for people to go, Why aren't you doing this?

[01:18:13]

I know Mariah has that feeling when, because she's a dancer and everybody just thinks that isn't out here or doesn't know the dance world, to them you made it is going on so you think you can dance? Yes. Why don't you do that? Why haven't you done that? And you're like, Ug.

[01:18:30]

And.

[01:18:31]

Everybody thinks they're suggesting this idea that you would never thought, You should go on so you think you can dance.

[01:18:40]

Why haven't you back up dance? You should try back up dancing. I'm like, What do you think I've been doing for 10 years?

[01:18:47]

Trying.

[01:18:48]

Why.

[01:18:49]

Don't.

[01:18:51]

You dance for Beyonce?

[01:18:52]

Yeah, they always say that, Beyonce. You could do that.

[01:18:55]

You guys would be surprised. The pay and a lot of things you see on TV are just not good. Yeah, dancing, you cannot live off dancing. And people, and they think payment is, oh, you're getting all these eyes. It's like, yeah, but just think about it's not really still benefiting you. If you go on so you think you can dance or you're like a backup dancer or something, like, Oh, shit. Cool. That's like, can you really use that as a reel? Not really. I did.

[01:19:19]

Get cut from something you could dance.

[01:19:21]

This whole industry is so saturated where everybody has a reel of them being a dancer in this little thing. It's like you have to...

[01:19:28]

You.

[01:19:29]

Don'ti don't know how I got caught.

[01:19:30]

Really quick? From So You Think.

[01:19:31]

You Could Dance? Yeah, I don't even think they looked at me.

[01:19:33]

All right, thank you.

[01:19:36]

Guys very much. My poor family, it was my mom, my sister, my brother that came with me, and I did it in Philly. There was like, a thousand people. We waited online for 14 hours.

[01:19:49]

You.

[01:19:50]

Finally get to the ballroom where the producers are, and you dance. You dance, you just Freestyle across the floor, and then they go, Thank you.

[01:20:01]

You have to just pre-call all your way out.

[01:20:03]

I think I dance for five seconds, waiting for 14 hours. I think I was out there for five seconds. They're like, Thank you.

[01:20:07]

It's terrible. I know how you think for inconveniencing people, you probably wanted to actually drop dead right there for making your family wait 14 hours. You probably didn't.

[01:20:17]

Yeah, that's exactly who I thought of. That's why I started the story that I had.

[01:20:21]

My poor family. I would have stayed in for 30 more minutes and not walked outside to face my parents. Just to be like-Yeah, no, it was terrible.

[01:20:28]

Talent shows love that we have these opportunities for people to get discovered. The world's tough when you're talented and there's not a lot of breaks and these people don't even become talented. I know people have hard stories. I know people have struggles. But these talent shows, they prey off the.

[01:20:47]

Heart story. Yeah, the.

[01:20:48]

Sad stories. Oh, your mom doesn't have cancer or dad didn't-That's what she.

[01:20:54]

Said too. I had a friend who auditioned for a show you think you could dance for years and she kept getting cut, kept getting cut, kept getting cut because she was just a really good dancer with a normal life. And she went back for the sixth time. She made up a story and they let her through. -wow. -see? -yeah. -what is that getting you? -it's like all the shows are like... They're all like that now. Especially nowadays, they're putting people on the show that have that story that can bring in views. It's not about your talent. -yeah. -it's not.

[01:21:22]

I just wish. What they need is someone to get fully busted with a hard story. Then it needs to be a bubble to pop on that. Because I'm still not.

[01:21:32]

Going to change. Straight on live, she's like, Well, this story was actually not real. This is the only way I was able to get on. Yes.

[01:21:38]

That.

[01:21:38]

Would be.

[01:21:39]

A good plot for.

[01:21:40]

A movie. But it's live. It has to be live. It can't be pre-filmed.

[01:21:44]

Yeah.

[01:21:46]

Why can't it just be about talent? Why does it need to be like -Because.

[01:21:49]

It doesn't make good TV.

[01:21:50]

They're competing for views. People want to feel emotional when they vote or when they want somebody to win. They want, Oh, well, her mom died of cancer, so I'm going to vote for her. That's why I can't watch it. Which is crazy. It shouldn't be like that.

[01:22:03]

I can't watch it anymore.

[01:22:04]

It's only getting worse. It's only getting more performative.

[01:22:06]

I think, though, by the time our generation, when we're like the six-year-old people sitting around watching TV, we're going to be so cynical about that style of shows where we're going to be like, Enough of this.

[01:22:17]

We're not going to be fun to watch.

[01:22:19]

American idol used to be raw, real authentic.

[01:22:24]

It really was.

[01:22:24]

When Kelly Clarkson came on, she didn't have a story.

[01:22:28]

No. She was just like, I'm a good at her from Texas or wherever she's from, and they just loved her personality. That's what they said. They were her personality, and obviously she was.

[01:22:36]

An amazing singer. She was a superstar. They could tell the energy. Yeah, they saw.

[01:22:39]

It start-That's what makes you big, is your personality. That's the whole point of this whole-Yeah, look at her.

[01:22:42]

She's one of the best singers. Can we get Justin Guarini on.

[01:22:45]

The pot?

[01:22:46]

I got a lot of questions for Justin Guarini.

[01:22:49]

My parents would call and vote.

[01:22:52]

That's. My mom would vote on American Island, too, on her phone.

[01:22:55]

I cannot wrap my head around this now that I'm older looking back.

[01:22:58]

That's so funny.

[01:22:59]

My mom.

[01:23:00]

I.

[01:23:01]

Cannot... Was there somebody like, okay, were they keeping.

[01:23:04]

Tell of you? No, it was like an automated thing. Just press one. It would be like, ring, ring, ring, and then it would be like, you've just casted your vote for blah, blah, blah. That's so funny. Then she would hang up redow.

[01:23:14]

Do it again.

[01:23:15]

I don't think she really likes people that much. I think she didn't want other people to win. She's like, they're going to kick this person off and I hate that other person. I'm going to...

[01:23:28]

It's crazy. Now my mom would do the same thing for-For American idol? -for American idol. -for American idol? -american idol. It's just that's so fun. That's so fun. That's so fun. That's so fun. That's so fun. That's so funny. But there's nothing else. That was really the thing to do. As a family, you sit down, you watch the next American idol, the next week of Surviver, and you just... And that is your world.

[01:23:46]

I remember begging my parents, Can we vote? But I think they are so... They thought it was going to cost money. They automatically think something costs money. So it was an.

[01:23:55]

Automatic no, and it never ever got.

[01:23:57]

To infomercials. It was just like an.

[01:24:00]

Absolute no. I think it did cost money, especially on your phone. Those texts.

[01:24:03]

Romanian-yeah, you get ring tones.

[01:24:05]

Yeah, it did. I think it costs money. I'm not surprised.

[01:24:08]

Did you guys watch Survival?

[01:24:10]

I did. Not this season, but the last one or the one... One of the recent ones, it's all just a PR. They're just like, Oh, I just want.

[01:24:20]

To-be a creep. I'm here to be.

[01:24:22]

The bitch. Yeah, I'm not here for the game. I'm just trying to get my screen time, which whatever. Okay. The other half is they have their story. They've been watching since they were little, and it makes sense. But I think that's what makes the show, right? You want those crazy people. You want those people that want to be on camera so bad to make the show because you don't.

[01:24:44]

Want-we have been thinking, though. If all else fails, I don't know, Survival is still the one show where no matter what age and stage you are in life, you could get on. Yeah. It's not like, oh, Jeopardy. You got to be really smart. You got to be on top of it. All the bachelor, you got to be hot. You got to be good looking. Surviver, you got to be a little... There's a little physical endurance, but it's about likability, playing a little game, having a little alliance.

[01:25:09]

When you're 40 and you're done with this internet shit, you disappear for a few years.

[01:25:15]

Boom, survivor. Oh, what.

[01:25:16]

A comeback. -oh, what.

[01:25:18]

A comeback. Everyone's like, Heath is on survivor.

[01:25:23]

I've been playing out that fantasy sometimes in my head where I'm like, I'll consider it. I don't know. For fun. Why not?

[01:25:29]

I'm fun. 40 is not that far away. It's literally just doing L. A. Over again.

[01:25:34]

I want us to be old. One episode of the oldest video just...

[01:25:39]

Did you watch the Square Game reality show?

[01:25:44]

No, I'm saying the way they shot it and everything, it looks really good. I'm not going to lie. The trailer I was watching, damn, that's a really good trailer.

[01:25:51]

Didn't they copy what.

[01:25:52]

Mrbeast did? Pretty much. But did MrBeast just copy what Square Game did? I think they said Square Game's actual brand on it. Like Square Game.

[01:25:59]

Was like...

[01:26:01]

Mr. Beases was like a spin-off dupe. But I don't know, when I just started turning it on, I just realized all these people are on here trying to compete for.

[01:26:09]

Screen time. And since this country loved the show so much, I'm sure they're like, Let's collect... It's popular in the New York country and ours. Let's do an English version in a way, like a reality TV show, which will promote the next season even more. I just hope that next season is good. I hope it's not... Because at first it was good to a lot of people or to millions of people that watched it. The show Square Game? I just hope they... I hope they don't try too hard on the... Or not try too hard, sorry, just like...

[01:26:41]

I just wish the games were a little clever and not too sadistic. When they're jumping on the glass going across the bridge, I'm.

[01:26:49]

Like, This is just-It's a lazy trap. Sorry, I'm thinking of Saw, but it's just like late.

[01:26:56]

What was the Japanese show we watched that was like Square Game?

[01:26:59]

The one with the cars. Oh, Allison Wonderland.

[01:27:02]

Yes, that show where they're in when it's flooding and the light bulb's high.

[01:27:08]

Allison.

[01:27:08]

Wonderland is good. They had good games.

[01:27:10]

They have the Fain, Clever, like escape room style shit. Yeah, but make it a challenge and not just this, you might step on the wrong thing and you're going to die. It is.

[01:27:21]

Interesting that a show like Square Games became so much more popular than Alice in Wonderland when I felt like it's just more.

[01:27:26]

This. It's a bad name. It was a bad name for.

[01:27:28]

The show. Square Games is the perfect name.

[01:27:31]

Yeah. Oh, yeah.

[01:27:32]

Okay. All right. Well, guys, thank you so much for joining us on another episode of Unfiltered. Please shower, Heath, and Mariah with all the love you can in the comments, on their Instagrams.
