Years ago, a therapist said in our very first session that there are only two things that we can truly control in our lives - our own perception and our own behavior. That's it. Nothing more than that.
Each week, The Laverne Cox Show will feature intimate conversations with folks who help me to see and think differently so that maybe I can act differently. It is my hope that this becomes a place that fosters perspectives that might inspire new behavior in each of us, which in turn gets us closer to becoming the very best versions of ourselves. Let's have a spiritual makeover together.

And Laverne Cox, actress, producer, transgender icon, you may know me from Orange is the New Black or disclosure, and I wanted to create a public space for the conversations I'm having in private.
And I thought a podcast was the perfect way to do that. And my guests tonight are we go there wherever that place is, my incredible guest and I go all the way there.
So note to self, she is not going to throw any softball questions, OK?
We are talking about everything from dating while trans dating as a black woman dating well over 40. Yeah, we talk a lot about dating here.
70 percent of the people said they do believe in soul mates. And I think it keeps a lot of people single.
And I asked every single man I slept with, you know, how you became interested in trans women and what is your interest in trans women.
But we also dive deep into trauma, resilience, the social value of beauty, Beyonce, you name it. My body's always been talking to me, but now I have a way to talk back.
We don't often talk about beauty as a way that many, many people and women in particular are exceptionally marginalized.
Nothing is off limits, honey. Nothing is taboo.
The first time I ever experimented with Survation was I think I was 10 years old, maybe 11.
The fact that you think I'm here to please you is exactly the white woman problem.
Can we get a little. OK, well, it will make you think it will challenge and hopefully inspire you.
Love is intimate.
We want people to understand us and understand that struggle.
We're trying to create an identity and a culture where our humanity has just been fully denied.
And girl, we have a lot of fun along the way for me.
I let go of hi in my last night at the Laverne Cox Show will drop every Thursday starting February four.
It's a powerful thing to be loved.
